› FORUM › THE LOUNGE › MM, is Jenna the “New Puppy”? Did I miss something?
MM, in another thread (Holiday traditions, by Sarita) you said you’d been up with the new puppy.
You meant Jenna, right? The new puppy you got over a year ago, maybe 2 now? LOL ![]()
I sure hope so. Otherwise, I have NOT been paying you enough attention this week! ![]()
Nope, her hubby brought home a new puppy, that bonded to MM’s daughter ![]()
Well it sounds like we need some picture of this new puppy! ![]()
Yea what……no pictures??? WOW…WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
![]()
*perks up* Someone say a puppy? Lol.
Yes, where are these pictures!
just thought I would throw out there that she did post some pictures in the decemberchat thread. But we could always use more ![]()
^^ Oh… I haven’t really checked the December chat yet. Maybe I will now. Haha.
Neither did I. MM, get over here now!
I never usually read the chat threads! MIMZ… a new puppy requires it’s OWN THREAD!!! You know “the rules”!!!
Geeze people…obsess much? lmao xD
I have reasons (good ones) that puppy has only gotten passing mentions..
1) no sleep for DAAAAAAYYYYYSSSSSSzzzzzzzxzzxxzzzzzxxzzxzz
2) I can’t start threads here from my phone, only add to others (thanks Pam, I would’ve emailed except for reason #1)
3) pix require uploading to pb first, each shot takes no less than 20 minutes on my connection, DSL notwithstanding
That being said, hopefully here are a few links, which some kind soul may need to imbed for me, please?
Sorry…
This is Ebon (pronounced Ee-BAWN), she is 9 weeks old approximately:
No, her eyes are brown, not blue…they just shine blue instead of red in the flash.
And yes, we’re recycling a BinkyBunny box for her beddy there in the background.
Sorry so few came out decent. She’s a squirmy one.
I wanted to get the ones on of her being belly up, but my phone and Photobucket are not cooperating and I’m starting to fray my last nerve, so I hope these few will tide you over till I can get my daughter to upload some from her iPad2.
What a cutie! ![]()
Ohhh!!! Look at her!!! Hello Ebon. Ebon-bon for Christmas. The black and white reminds me of border collies.
I almost missed you have new puppy also. ![]()
So tell me, why are you the one losing sleep because of the new doggy?!!!
Because I’m the responsible one…lol. No, and not just me…hubby is up all night with her too. We go in shifts.
I can usually tire her out during the day/early evening, but somehow she’s realized daddy is a nighttime party animal…so she keeps him up from about 4 a.m. to when I finally regain consciouness at 11. @_@;
Jenna and the bunnies are not happy. And one of my cats really gets the brunt of puppy’s ‘ebullience’…she doesn’t jump up on stuff well, so when Ebon chases her she runs, and of course puppy runs too so…it’s not a happy camp by any means.
She’s trying to eat her way out of the box as we speak. 0_o Going to need another crate for this one…with titanium bars.
Good anti-chewing/teething pup strategies are welcome. (PLEASE!)
Is she a boarder collie? Good luck if she is. They are notorious for always thinking they can outsmart you. Best teething advice I can give is to provide her with plenty of good toys and be vigilant. When she is chewing something she is not supposed to, give her a gentle correction and replace what ever she was chewing, with a toy. And when she is playing with her toys, make sure to REALLY let her know what a good girl she is for playing with her toys. If she is being a really persistent little ninja and continues to sneak off to chew something bad, then maybe try some sour apple spray you can get at petco. Another good bit of advice is to remove temptation if possible. Lay on the floor and look at all those tempting table legs, wires, storage bins, and everything else she has around her to explore with that little mouth full of razors sharp puppy teeth. Then remove or alter what ever you can, because if you can see it from that level, she is going to chew it.
Thanks Joyful.
Supposedly Ebon is husky +dachsund+pomeranian (yeah I don’t get how that combo was managed either) and she is a pistol to be sure. I just found out today that the cardboard tubes I’ve got saved up for Pip make great distractions if you twist them and let her have at it.
Hardest part is keeping daughter encouraged to care for her. The teething pup winds up putting lots of holes in our hands and she gets easily frustrated with the dog. This pisses me off because I know Ebon is only a puppy and doesn’t understand and needs instruction. Daughter does not have a long fuse for such things.
No matter what Ebon is really a joy to have around and motivating me to get more space cleared to make room for her. If I could just get a bit more kip though…anyone know how long it takes a puppy to normalize waking/sleeping times? Jenna took 2 weeks, but she was full grown so I can’t go by her.
She’s beautiful, and I would have been surprised if she Wasn’t a husky! Jenna did surprise me when you got her because she was small for a change.
I think the pets need to have voting rights and priority by rank. It’s not fair to the kitties who were there first, then the bunnies, then Jenna, then the tornado, uh, puppy. Definitely time for a new crate for snoozing. (The family sleeps, not the puppy.)
Congrats, you insane Alaskans.
I crate trained my dog and that helped but she suckered me into letting her come up into my bed and she did that for years. I pretty much ignored whines in the crate unless it had been 4 hours since she’d been let out to go potty then I’d take her outside on leash (we didn’t have grass at the time) and then it was straight back to the crate for a cookie.
My dog chewed a whole wall at my parents house when she was a puppy. along with shoes and a million other things. I would keep giving her lots of toys, and bones. Once we started giving my dog an annoying amount of bones, she cut down on the house. Also vinegar sometime deters them just like bunnies, but I’ve heard a couple dogs like that. Wish I could remember more from my doggy training days MM. Hopefully I provided something helpful to you though.
Oh goodness, she is adorable!
Thanks everyone.
Some of the older (already chewed) bunny gates are up for a new run in the den tonight. Not sure about the letting her cry just yet because she appears to only cry for food or potty breaks. There’s occasional whines for attention, but mostly she barks or tries to gnaw your feet, ankles or fingers for that. Not good. Doing our best to break her of that.
She is a real handful. It’s been years since I tended puppies, and Shadow’s weren’t nearly this rowdy. ![]()
I can’t believe you now have two little dogs after your big huskies! :p
Neither can I. XP
Add to this we got the alert today that a wolf pack has been spotted roving in our general area. So now I have to be extra careful on walks.
Of course I was already on alert after finding an owl’s swoop print in the snow on our street where he must’ve been after a wildie. I hope he missed. ![]()
What a cutie!!!! I love the name!!!
How is puppy getting on with all your other fur-babies?
Wolves…scary. People in our area have been warned not to let their pets out loose due to a larger than normal amount of coyotes. I was out riding my horse in the indoor arena the other night and I heard them howling. I was freaked out, Winnie didn’t seem to care, she must be used to them. Wolves are scarier though!! I hope the owl missed too.
