I just got Alfie some oxbow pellets today and it’s giving me instructions on how to mix it. I had been giving him DuMor food and filtering out most of the bad stuff (it had seeds/fruits/veggies, i can’t filter out ALL the seeds). The reason I have been feeding him this is because it was the only old thing I had (and I couldn’t get new stuff until now) and I didn’t know it was bad for bunnies the long ago I bought it. With the new pellets he has never had before, should I still mix it even though the old pellets are bad for him?

I would just give him the Oxbow straight up since it’s high quality.

I didn’t mix the old with the new really either when I switched since I didn’t know I had to at the time. My bun ended up being just fine. I know that sometimes it is advised so you don’t upset their system…I can only speak for my guy.

I agree with Sarita and wouldn’t mix in this situation.

Same – I just gave it to him straight when it happened to me. When he was hungry, he ate it.
My first bag of Oxbow was the young rabbit food and when I did the switch to the adult rabbit food, only cause I knew by then…. I did mix the young and the adult when I wanted to transition. Yep, like Kbana – my guy was all ok too. Cheers Sam.

Or maybe just pick out some of the plain pellets by hand (like maybe 20-30 per feeding), that should only take a minute… And just gradually decrease what you pick out…
