Hi there, I have a lion head/dwarf bunny whose name is Rascal. Rascal is about 5 years old now. Recently (in the last few days) I have noticed that Rascal’s one eye is missing fur around it and the fur that is left around the eye is wet. She had this once before about a year and a half ago and it disappeared within a few days and her fur grew back so I did not take her to the vet. This time it started worse and I just wanted to know what you guys think. I think she has a blocked tear duct from the research I did but I am not sure. In the photo you will see that the fur around her eye is not wet so it has seemed to be clearing up. There is also a little but of mucus in the tear duct area which I cleaned after the photo. Should I take her to the vet or wait a couple more days and see how it goes as it seems to be healing and getting better on its own. Any replies would be super helpful, thanks. Down below I uploaded one photo of her good eye and one of her bad eye.

I think that Oakley’s and Boston’s mama has been worrying about this and she has been wiping the area with a little salt water or cooled chamomile tea
Please make sure that it doesn’t get in the eye, especially with the salt water
I think you are correct about it being a blocked tear duct or weepy eye
I would wait a couple of days, wiping the eye at least twice a day
But if her eyes do not improve or get very irritated, you should take her to the vet

Thank you so much! I have been keeping an eye on it and it seems to be healing on its own. Most of the fur has grown back already around the bottom and sides of her eye and the fur around her eye does not look wet anymore. She also doesn’t have any mucus Coming from her eye either.

It could just be irritation of the eye or a blocked tear duct issue. However it could also mean infection or tooth issues.
