Missing fur and dry skin :(

Hi, I am new to Binky Bunny and I apologise if I have put this in the wrong area of the forum.

My bun, Buster is missing a lot of hair on his neck/ dewlap area. I noticed it last week when he was stretching his neck to reach for some kale. He was also shedding quite a lot last week; thought that might be what it was and it will grow back.
After checking his neck/dewlap again yesterday, the condition has not improved and I am worried it may be something else. The skin exposed is also dry, unsure if flaky. I have given him a second dose of Revolution (for puppies and kitten) yesterday to see if it would help.

He is still eating and playing as usual, but he is not liking me as much he used to it seems. No more morning bunny licks and does not like petting/ head rubs as much

Has anyone experienced this before? Is it a vet ‘must-see’ or is there a home remedy I could try to keep the cost down? Mites or something else?

It’s good you’ve done a revolution treatment. It certainly wouldn’t hurt. Even if he didn’t have mites, it’s something that can flare up when a rabbit is dealing with another condition. 

Two things come to my mind: Is he overweight at all? When I got my second rabbit, he was overweight and had some crusty fur there in the neck/dewlap area. Its and area that can become moist and lead to moist dermatits which may lead to some flaky skin. It can also be a ripe area for bacterial skin infections.

The second thing is if he’s experiencing some dental issues and pulling fur out there and/or grooming that spot a lot. Some rabbits do this when they have some dental pain. I do wonder more about that given that you said he used to lick you and now he is not.
