Mini Rex shedding like crazy

 I didnt think that rabbits shed much when they wernt multing but Hazel is my mini rex, she is around 9 months old now and is constantly sheding. I have multiple brushes but none seem to help get the hair OUT. Which is a problem cause we live with someone who is highly allergic and she has been complaining. Can anyone help me with some ideas on what kind of brush and where to get them PLEASE?

So far i have like a normal soft bristle bush and a small slicker brush i also have a super fine toothed comb none of which come off of her with ANY hair attached to it. 

Her coat is like anyother tipical Mini Rex short thick and extreamly fine.

Lint Roller. Lolli is a mini rex and I was having problems with combs too. I have the hair buster that is sold here, but it wasn’t grabbing her fur very well. Someone else on here with a mini rex suggested using a lint roller. Works great. It doesn’t really get out clumps but it got like a top layer of fuzz off if that makes sense. For the clumps, the best thing i’ve found is to just pluck them out. None of this goes over well mind you. lol Another thing that will help is wetting your hands and running them over her fur. I haven’t tried this because I can’t stand having fur stuck to me.

I found with plucking by hand, I put Lolli on my lap and she stuck her head under my arm and settled down even though she didn’t like it. So something to keep in mind to try if she puts up a fight.

Also, many rabbits continually shed year round with heavy molting periods. This is due to being in a temperature controlled environment. Lolli seems to have actual molts while when Eddie was alive, he was constantly shedding a little. A hepa filter near or where you keep her might help with allergies as well.

I just use a damp cloth on mini rexes. Igt picks up the loose fur well.

Yep what the others have suggested works great! I have a mini rex too, my other mini rex shed alot and I used a Lint roller to get the loose hair that isnt clumped if you dont have a lint roller wet your hand then lightly dry them so they are sticky and pet away! lol it works well! as for the little tufts, plucking was the only way I could win that battle! lol

I love the Hair Buster Comb. It doesn’t hurt when used gently in the right direction, and if there is fur to be had, it gets it off well.

I bought my first one from another site years ago, but now you can also get it in BB’s store.

Thanks guys. I tried the lint roller it works awesome BUT i think she just sheds more when we pick her up out of her cage i think its cause she gets nervous. She definitely doesn’t like the roller though if i get it too close to her neck or face she will attack it but she puts up with it in the mean time.

The brush they sell on here, I really didn’t want to spend the money on it cause the bristles look too far apart. Nothing that wide will work so i didn’t want to waste my money and not be happy I’m sure t works on the bun’s with longer hair though for sure.

My mini rex doesn’t bother my allergies that badly compared to cats and dogs. I had read that rabbits shed twice a year (major sheds.) This last shed I discovered that “twice a year” means well over a month each time! I used the lint roller as well, or slightly damp hands/paper towel. Basically for a month, Mr. Bun-Bun’s hair came out in pretty massive amounts EVERY time I touched him (which is frequently!) It finally seems to have ended for now.
If your roommate is allergic you basically either have to be super-vigilant with cleaning and grooming, or buy one of the animal-safe air filters. Or both.

The brush pictured actually works great once they really start shedding. When she first started shedding, it didn’t work that well on Lolli. But I just used it last night now that she’s seriously shedding and it works great now. I don’t know what the difference is – maybe more fur is coming loose now????

i have a male mini rex I named him roger and he is my cuddly fluff ball. but he likes to dig at my boobs and that’s un-comfy.lol and he does shed a lot! but he does like the attention I will take my fingers like a pair of scissors and cuz pull the loose hair out that way he loves it. he swoons and lays down when I do it and if I get the middle of his back he licks my hand and arm like crazy its so cute. and I bought a comb and the one I got works well o get the beginning fuzz out then I switched to lint rollers its easier b.c all the hair is attached to the sticky and not having to pull it out of a brush which can be frustrating. . he loves the lint roller and the attention .. and thankfully he has clear nails so I can clips them I have never caused him to bleed but he is still nervous when it come that time.. I should clip them again soon now that I thin about it..

shedding lint roll it .. clean easy safe (safe meaning your not making bunny un comfortable with hair pulling brushes) =]
