So this moring i got up, and just started looking up adoptable rabbits{ jsut for the heck of it}….i must of looked at 50 rabbits that are up for adoption! But one caught my eye  !!

His name is Ronald, hes a flemmie mix, GREAT with other animals, and hes still young ! The only problem is, i still have to talk to my parents about getting him { Im only in my teens so i still live at home} . They have told me multipable times, no more pets…but i really like this rabbit! I hope to pursuade them soon!

Another problem is that i have a rex/checkerd giant mix already and he is not neuterd : due to medical issues. If I were to get Ronald i wouldn’t expect them to be best buds because of rileys age, not being neuterd, etc.  I would just not house them together.

Here is a pic of Ronald! : Flemmish Giants are big swear hearts right? I LOVE big buns!  Isnt he adorible?

I can see why you’ve fallen for him, he’s a beauty!

Do you know if he’s neutered? That would help a bit in having 2 boys even if you not planning to house them together. Having another rabbit around, even if neutered or intact, can cause another to act out so be aware of that.

Now i suppose it’s up to what your parents say. Have they seen this pic yet?

What is the medical issue that makes Riley unable to be neutered?

Yes he is neuterd,my rabbit that i have { Riley } isnt neuterd . If my parents say yes, i plan on putting Ronald in a extra room in my house, so Riley can still be in my room. I have talked to my mom , just not my dad yet. My mom is cool with it , but i don’t think my father will say yes, well not easily at least :-/ Another problem is that the shelter that he is currently at is about 5 hours away ! So far its a 50%chance that i will be getting him.

                    He is handsome.

Edit: Just make sure you know exactly what you are getting into beforehand! When I had to keep Totoro and Wilbur separate for over 2 months it was very stressful at times. I felt like I was going back and forth all the time, trying to make sure everything was equal. It was difficult to give them both enough attention. Plus I had 2 habitats to clean. Not trying to say it was a bad thing or convince you not to, just really think about it first

What a cutie! Good luck with your dad. He was always the stronghold when I was younger too. Although it was probably good he was seeing as how me and my mom rescued A LOT of animals. haha

I’d love to hear what his medical issues are, I’ve never heard of that before. If you called I’m sure they could tell you?

You’ve mentioned quite a few times that Riley is a handful, so I’m not sure you’re looking past the fluffy cuteness to the logistics of it all. Keeping 2 bunnies separate is a HUGE pain. Its twice the hay, food, salads, and litter which is already a considerable amount with a large breed. You also have to put in equal time with both, and large breeds need a few hours of out-of-pen Run time, every day. You’re also going to have territorial marking issues, and there’s a good chance that Riley will never litter train completely if he smells other bunny on you or in the house. Even your neutered bun might mark his territory since the other bun is hormonal. There’s also the fact that you’re a teen, and are going to eventually move out/ go to college, and there’s a likelihood that your bunnies will still be alive and well when you’re ready to move out. Finding a space with enough room for 2 large breeds will be tough, as well as if you have to leave them behind, will your parents give both the attention they need? Its much harder to do for 2 than it is for 1 (when they have to be kept apart).

I would LOVE to rescue 100 rabbits if I could, I already asked my husband only kinda jokingly if I could adopt the flemmie that was posted about, but its really just not responsible, and its not fair to the bun.

i would hold off, until you’re out of college and have your own place. 2 buns in separate habitats would get time consuming, and you won’t know for sure if you can even have pets in college dorms. And having one unaltered would make for messes when another bun comes taking over his territory.

Sam and Lady’s human- Some animal are allergic to the gas to put them under. I know a responsible Pit Bull owner who has about 7 rescued pits, all of them but one is fixed. The reason is that his dog is allergic to something in the gases. The dog actually went under once and they almost lost him. It’s actually quit common but sometimes for medical reasons they can’t put a certain animal under.

Okay…all of these responds have made me think that i am not going to get him. I bet there are other families out there looking for a bun like him, im sure with his charms he will get a home soon Also i was thinking on how bent Riley would get….i don’t want that to happen !

And Mandy what you said about him being allergic to the gases sounds right. I am gonna call my Vet tommaro just to double check but yea i think he is just allergic to some medicine/gas that the vet would have to give him during surgeruy.
                              Thank you everyone!

Thats really interesting, I’ve never heard of animals having drug allergies like us humans do
