Is it safe and smart to microchip bunnies? And is there vaccines in the U.S. for bunnies?

Yes, it’s safe to have rabbits microchipped. : )
I don’t believe there are many common vaccines in US, like you would get for a dog or cat. I do remember hearing something about a pasteurella vaccine but that is probably something that is more available to rabbit breeders/farmers where there’s a herd of rabbits.

In other regions of the world, there is myxomatosis vaccine and Rabbit Haemorrhagic Virus vaccine available. These aren’t viruses that are prevalent in the US so don’t pose a large risk to domestic rabbits there. However, there are some regions that have had outbreaks of these virus. Your vet would be the best person to ask if your area is one of those and if they’ve imported a vaccine.

Thank you so much! This info helps! I have been having trouble finding a super rabbit savvy vet. But I have been looking around my area. My vet just moved to a different city

If you’re comfortable posting the general area you live, users who may happen to be there may be able to give you some potentials. HRS also has a vet-listing, which can help as well: http://rabbit.org/vet-listings/
