Meet Oreo … I didn’t want to introduce him for a few weeks but since I had to post asking about gender everyone is on my back already. 

He is a 2 year old rabbit that his owners got tired of, he is friendly, but his diet was not right, he lived in a teeny commercial cage, his litter box and water bottle were disgusting when he got here. 

he needs some TLC but he loves his new cage, he binkied the moment I put him in it, He is sweet and outgoing and patient and tolerant, and even though he seems to be molting currently its not that bad  

Also most likely he will be getting a name change.

I must have missed the gender thread. Has he met Tenzin yet? I hope they settle in well together.

He won’t begin intros with tenzin for at least 3 weeks so tenzin can get any hormones out of his system , the cages are side by side though and they completely ignore each other.

I love his markings! Is he a Dutch mix?

No idea what he is, his old owners were just told he was a dwarf he is very small and his ears seem small so maybe dutch netherland mix?

He is a sweet boy but he let’s you know he wants attention, he regularly tries to open his pen while I am feeding tenzin lol

I could see that. Nethie and Dutch, I mean. He coloring is unusual, so that’s why I asked. You don’t see agouti with white markings like that too often. He sure looks like a sweetie.

He is sweet, mellow too. Hopefully since both boys don’t care about anything they will get along with each other.

I wish I could get a picture to compare their sizes. The vet said when he was neutered he was 3.5 lbs. But he is fat. Tenzin is only 3.5 lbs and seems bigger.

He’s got such tiny feet and ears! I hope we get to see a lot more of him!

Not sure when I will be posting pictures of my boys or how welcome we really are here. I got some really rude comments for adopting him.

I have actually been pretty busy lately. Getting our house together, making sure the new boy settles well and that tenzin we has no complications, constant storms scaring my poor dog … and a couple fish tanks in progress lol

I am sorry you feel that you were disrespected. Because this is the internet, all of us know very little about the rest of us, so we offer the best advice we can with the little bit of info each member has provided. This advice that we give is the best help that we can offer without knowing the full situation. Because of this, and also because, again, this is the internet and tone of voice, etc. isn’t present, you can easily mistake an opinion or piece of advice for rudeness. However, I can assure you that any replies you received had the best intentions because we care about you and your bunny and we also make a very large effort to keep BB a family-friendly and kind place.

I’m sure that no one meant to drive you off; sometimes people are just a bit more frank/pert with their replies or concerns, but I’m sure it had good intentions… In any case, it’s best not to let a couple of negative (actual or seemingly) comments ruin the forums for you. It’s a great place for support and your daily dose of bunny.

In all honesty; my most recent adoption is not the best timed; as we’re getting ready for a move in 3-4 weeks, and he’ll have to readjust to a new place a second time in 2 months… but we’re making the most of it. The key is to just try to take the good from situations or advice, and try to wade through the rest of it. In any case, sounds like you’ll start bonding about the same time as mine, if not a little sooner! I look forward to the thread if you decide to stay!

I’m not great with breed identification, but I’m trying to brush up on it for my own fun. My only real guess on his breed would be some kind of nethie / polish mix, like has already been said.. I am not sure how the size/weight is really determined in mixes between larger and dwarf breeds so I couldn’t really guess on much more than that. He is adorable though!

I am still working out a name for him … Because Oreo just doesn’t suit him.

And I overreacted … But being told to get rid of him because I MAY have the same issues and he MAY have long fur ( from one picture to determine gender) really pushed my buttons.

I will try to get more pictures of him and Tenzin. Not together yet though. Tenzin has another 3 weeks and that’s only if his hormones dont spike.

He is a sweet rabbit and loves attention. I am wondering how he got so fat though. He doesn’t eat or drink much.

Could he have gotten tubby because he hadn’t gotten enough exercise?
When we got Tilly she was a bit of a pudge, and had little rolls on her belly and legs, and (although I know hormones are the main factor for dewlaps and she wasn’t spayed at the time) her dewlap was huge! She weighed in at just over 5lbs then, and since then has slimmed considerably, but has actually put on 1.2lbs! Muscle weighs more than fat!

Do you have any type of name preference for him yet? Cutesy, sophisticated, biblical, fantasy themed, traditional…?

Well Tenzin is named after the avatar Korra series… So something from the last airbender or Korra would be great.

True … I should post the pictures they sent me his commercial cage was really small. You can tell he was pretty pent up. And he doesn’t like being in a cage at all. Even his pen.
