Hello! I’ve been reading the binky bunny forums for about 6 years now but never really thought of registering.

Blossom is gonna celebrate her 7th birthday now on January 11th!
She is a grey american fuzzy lop and my literal everything in life. I just live to wake up In the morning and her coming to my bed and we spend some grooming time for each other. She’s a free roam bunny and prefers to be in my bedroom although she has her own room. Nothing scares my baby girl, but she’s afraid of storm though (but psttt she doesn’t want anyone to think she is scared of that:blink. This little rascal follows me everywhere, and i mean LITERALLY. She once followed me to the restroom and i didn’t even realize it. We had tough times. She is a true bunny survivor… We fought to GI statis to a happy ending, experienced the fatal fly strike but lucky enough i checked her bum 4 times a day to ensure she didn’t get some fly eggs stuck to her. I had this wire net on my window and the little miss chewed it through so no Wonder flies got in. I regularly checked to see for any flies roaming through my house but this one probably just took her shot and got away back through the window, leaving my princess with a fatal problem. I thought about getting a mister for her but i think i could never love each other really equally. Besides, we love each other and i wouldn’t trade anything for her.

I don’t know if i’m allowed to post this question here but, Blossom seems to ingest a lot of fur lately. She is shedding so much, i have fur flying in the air. During the shedding time i groom her 5 times a day but she still ingests too much. I’m also getting a lot of stringy pearl necklace poop from her.

Syringe pineapple or papaya juice into her. Probios from Tractor supply too. ten cc syringe of juice, one level scoop probios. ten cc of juice 3 times a day or more if you can. Lots of hay. i’m dealing with woolblock myself right now. I love a.f.l. buns…all that fur with the floppy ears! Cintinue treating till she poops without strings of fur in it. If she’s off her food, continue treating till she’s eating right again.

The hay that i used to buy her is now gone and she loved it. I get a big handful into her litterbox & she eats it reallyy fast (i’m not buying her the famous brands because i’m not interested In ordering it online and also i don’t have it at the stores so) So yea. The hay that i used is gone now and she doesn’t seem to like the new one. Nibbles it a bit but leaves a lot of it. I have just one papaya enzyme tablet will that settle her down or should i go buy some more????

Hi! I don’t know about enzyme tablets, but the stringy pearls show that although she is ingesting fur she is passing it, which is good. What do you use to brush her? Do you feel like you get a lot of fur after a grooming session?

please go get More tablets. Going off hay could be the new stuff, or could be feeling full due to the ingestion of fur. Glad she’s passing some though. Let her run as much as possible. Do run the pineapplejuice/probiotics. Critical Care if y ou think it’s necessary or she continues to be picky. Oxbow Critical Care powder it’s in a bag ask vet.

You might want to use a rubber grooming tool and comb to grab more hair. You could also use Pineapple tablets to help her ingest her hair better. Another great thing for sheds is to wet your hands and pet your rabbit all over. You get gross hands, but it grabs a lot of hair.

Nowadays, I’ve found just using my hand to get out all Wick’s loose fur is most effective. Doing very gentle tugs to get it all out, and going over large areas, rather than concentrating on one, and he falls asleep whenever I do it. To prevent it from flying everywhere, I usually tug out with my fingers and push them to collect in the palm of that hand, then I’ll rub my hands together to consolidate the fur so it does not fly off.

                      Aw she sounds lovely.

Sorry to be contradictory but there is no evidence that pineapple or papaya actually help… and the sugar from pineapple juice can make things worse.

Push wet, fibrous fresh greens and lots of hay. Offer water from a bowl. Hydration and fiber are most important at keeping things moving in the gut. It’s good that she’s passing the fur. Keep up the grooming. I use a combo of the hairbuster comb, a rubber mit type one for loose hairs , and hand plucking for larger tufts.

Huh. Maybe my bunny vet doesn’t know pineapple juice is bad? She’s the one who suggested it on Friday after examining her. Now…what do you do if she doesn’t like greens? CottonBall wasn’t given them before I got her, and she won’t eat anything but hay and pellets. I’ve added another hay holder, so now she has 2, always full. Thanks for the advice. Oh and a second water bottle. I’m imagining water from a bowl would cause a huge Angora mess lol.

The idea behind the pineapple juice comes from the enzymes found in pineapple juice. The enzymes, surface level, would help dissolve hair, making it easier to pass; however, the pH of rabbit stomachs is acidic enough to kill the enzymes, rendering pineapple juice useless once it hits the stomach. There’s a potential (non-professional opinion) that it could help dislodge any hairs in the pipes before entering the stomach, but once in the stomach, the enzymes will die.

Hydration is most important. I syringe-feed Wick water some times to help it all go through.

CottonBall is really fighting syringes of any kind now…first few days were ok. Now I’m lucky if I canget 30 cc into her at a time. She pats kicks and grinds her teeth I’m afraid she’ll stress herself into the next world, even wrapped in a towel. She’s passing fur though and poop is becoming more round. Wish she’d eat greens and liked brushing. Exercise seems to help. Should I stop the pineapple juice and just do critical care?

Hi and yay for you registering as a member here =)

The use of pineapple is debated. Some good vets still says it works. It won’t harm unless you give a lot, fruit is high in sugar and too much sugar isn’t good for buns (or for anyone else, really).

Hydration really is the most important. Freshly rinsed dripping wet leafy greens are good. Some people put a little bit of unsweetened apple juice in the buns water to encourage drinking (but give her a bowl of plain water as well, since some buns won’t drink at all if the water tastes funny).

I use Wick’s method of pulling out tufts of hair (very gently). i also use a lint-roller. A lint roller doesn’t work on long haired buns, so only use one if your bun has “normal” length hair. My bun prefers the lint roller to a brush.

Many of us here have experienced the moltings of our lives this spring/summer. It almost seems like buns all over the world might have conspired to make this year Mega Molt Year

You can stop the pineapple juice and keep monitoring how she’s doing. Again, a syringe every day doesn’t hurt, but that’s just talking about sugar intake. Nothing wrong with a syringe of sugary water as a treat!

Encouraging hay consumption is important, as well as grooming. If you could freshen her hay more often, do a greater ratio of varieties she likes, etc., this may help her pass some.

Belly massages may help as well.

Thanks. May clip her, though I hate to clip off all that fuzz it’s the Ea trademark. I’m so afraid to stress her out even more though. No lint roller for her! Too furry!
