Hello All! I’ve been a lurker of this forum in the past when I had a bunny previously, but since my husband and I recently adopted some new buns, I decided it was finally time to join.

Our newest additions are Harper & Hazel. They are bonded mini rexes and are approximately a year old. We adopted them from our local humane society at the beginning of this month, so they’ve been with us for about three weeks now. They came to the humane society after being found in an abandoned car. Luckily they were found quickly (and we had a fairly mild August this year, heat-wise), and they were still in pretty good shape.

This is my third time being a bunny mom. I had a Californian named Pinky when I was a kid, and my husband and I had a mini lop named Daisy more recently. We lost her about two years ago, and just days before these ladies came to the shelter we decided that we were ready to start looking for a new friend. We were initially only looking for one bunny, but when we met these two we instantly fell in love, so we decided we were up for the challenge of a pair.

Both of our buns were spayed before coming home from the humane society, and we’ve had our first visit with our new bunny vet who gave them both a clean bill of health. They have actually gotten comfortable at our house fairly quickly, which surprised us for as much as they’ve been through in the past six weeks. They ventured out of their cage into our bunny run for the first time after only three days with us and we got SO MANY binkies this week when we let them into our living room in an x-pen. (They are desperate to get out into the wider world of our living room, but we’re taking things slowly.)

Harper (the black & white bunny) is our dominant lady. She is much more adventurous and is the first to test any boundaries. She is also full of attitude, and she’s never shy about letting you know how she feels about something. Hazel (the white & grey bunny) is much more skittish than her sister. But she is incredibly playful and loves toss toys and knocking over things with her nose.

I’ve spent the last few weeks really leaning on the information in this forum about bonded bunny behavior, since this is my first time with more than one. I look forward to actually interacting with everyone this time around!
