Hi everyone!
My name is Elle. I’m 28 year young and live in Belgium. You have cat persons, you have dog persons, but me??? I’m a bunny person to the core!!
Fluffy was my madagascar holland lop companion when I was a child / teenager. I loved her to bits! I couldn’t always take care of her the way that I wanted because of the restriction my parents gave us. The only reason I was allowed to get her in the first place was because my twin brother got a tarantula spider as a pet (I kid you not). Somehow, a bunny seemed way worse to them. So hence, she was stuck outside in a cage most of the time. I always felt guilty after she passed away. She died alone in her cage outside and I wasn’t there for her
. I don’t know of what causes she died. She was 6 years old and never got spayed, so it might have been cancer. There was also a very unexpected but severe freezz blast at the time in november/oktober and she didn’t have her full winter coat yet.
But enough about that story!
Me and my boyfriend (more like hubby since we’ve been together for 11 years) recently moved into a big house. Finally! I was ready to give a good and stable home to a bunny couple
! I have adopted baby bunnies Frodo and Arya. They’ve moved in 4 days ago! They are 7 weeks old and still have a lot to learn. I made a deliberate choice in adopting baby bunnies because I want to see them grow up from a young age. I’m planning to spay/neuter them when they’re ready for it. I also wanted to get two bunnies because of my past experiences. I will never let a bunny grow up lonely ever again!!! Frodo and Arya get so much comfort by being together. They explore together, play tag and sleep warm and huddled next to each other. They’re so cute that I could eat them! (Hehe, this comes from a Dutch saying.)
So come rain or shine, me and my boyfriend will be there for Arya and Frodo. I joined this forum so I could rely on some good advice when I need it. It’s my first time litterbox training bunnies and I’m also planning to clicker train them.
Bye!! (Sorry
, long post.)
Picture time!
Car ride home, strangely enough they rolled on their backs. Coping mechanism or chillin out? ![]()
Frodo also known as Mr. Misschief! (Orange holland lop)
Arya also known as Mrs. Shadow! (Havanna holland lop)

Welcome to Binky Bunny! Frodo and Arya are super adorable! You must be thrilled with your new babies.
I’m glad to hear that you are planning on getting them spayed and neutered, however, you will have to seperate them before that so there is no risk of pregnancy.
Girl buns become sexually mature around 4 months. You definitely don’t want any oops litters!
I see we have some possible LotR and GoT fans in the house? I have a Pippin over here myself. Your little fur kids are precious!!
Kudos on the name choices! They are adorably cute! I could mush their faces![]()
How cute are they!!!!! Good on you Ellekke for being determined to be a better bunny mum! It is sad when some of us (me included) think back to previous pets and how we could of/should of done better by them. I live with my guilt every time I think back to my Kelsie (R.I.P, and I’m still so sorry Kelsie!). All we can do is promise to be better pet parents and make up for it with those we have with us today. I do – everyday. Wishing you and your bf/hubby all the very ‘bunny’ best with Frodo and Arya. (again, how cute are they!) Cheers!
PS – Eeeeek! Thank goodness we don’t have tarantula spider’s here in Oz – I think I would have a hard time whacking it with my thong! (footwear people!). Lol…..
Welcome welcome!
Your bunnies are SOOO cute, I can’t wait to get to know you and your bunnies even more!
Thanks for the warm welcome!
@LittlepuffyTail
Good advice! We’re going to keep a good eye on them. I bought a duplex bunny house so I can cut off the two floors. Fingers crossed!
@Bunnluff
Oh yeah!!!
@AndHenry
Thx for cheering me up!
Little update:
I have been letting Frodo and Arya out of their cage and they have been doing loads of binkies! Yesterday Arya jumped on my BF’s lap. Frodo has been giving the occasional little lick. They’re making quick progress! The litter training also going good. Frodo jumped back into the cage yesterday to pee. But they both still poop all over the place.
Happy!!!
What a happy story! I think you’ll be amazed at how fast they stop pooping around the house once they are neutered. Right now I don’t think they can help it.
Ditto on what AndHenry said. The guilt never leaves. You’re doing all the right things! Enjoy! And glad to hear your other half seems to be enjoying them as much. That makes life so much easier!!
Awww they are beautiful! :3 x
Welcome! They are adorable. I am glad you can give them a loving home. I am sure they will be spoiled and well cared for.
And don’t be surprised if, after neutering, you find stray poops outside the litter box. It’s nice that bunny poops are not messy like other animals’ poops can be. ![]()
Yea thank goodness for clean bunny poo!!!!
I clean out the poo about four times a day right now. Or whenever I see it’s out of control. They use their little litter boxes very well and they love munchin hay in it. But as you say Megabunny, don’t think they can help it right now. The little black specks just seem to fly out of em. Lol!
Glad to say they made progress again. Arya and Frodo were following me around a bit yesterday. and they’re starting to respond to their names. All triggered by food though. I’m training them that it’s okay if they jump on my lap or if I lift them on it. Clicker training works like a charm.
By the way I ‘invented’ the bunny elevator. A piece of wooden board. They step on it and then I lift them. At first it was necessary to get them out of the cage because they were unsure to jump out. Now they jump out effortlesly. So I introduced the board. Now they know what it means and they’re not scared to get on it. Picking them up with my hands seemed to spook them. Although Frodo sometimes mistakes my hands for the wooden board and jumps on my hands and let me transport him like that.
Fun! ![]()
That’s sooo smart! Sounds like you all are off to an amazing start! Warms my heart 🙂 Just when you think you’ve heard it all…bunny elevator!!
