Hello Everyone,
I’ve posted a few times but I figure its time I introduce myself. I have a 1 year 2 month old (birthday Feb 16th) mini-lop female (spayed). She is a “free range” rabbit, in that she doesn’t live in a cage, she gets the whole house. We rabbit proofed all but one room which we have blocked off.
She is a big girl for a mini-lop, 7 pounds! The vet said she is on the large side of normal, lol. So she is not fat yet, but I switched her off the Oxbow alfalfa pellets a few months ago to the timothy ones to make sure she stays a healthy weight.
She gets lots of veggies – her favorites are turnip greens, romaine lettuce, parsley, and dandelions! Her favorite treat is banana but she only gets a little bit here and there so as not to over feed her and she has to do tricks for it! She has learned: periscope, spin, come to mommy, and give mommy kiss!
Oh, and she is good friends with one of my cats, Mouse. We have three cats: Chicken, Goose, and Mouse. Chicken and Goose are kind of scared of Bear (the rabbit) – silly things. They pretty much just stay out of her way. But Mouse and Bear really like each other. I think it helps that Bear is almost as big as them. There hasn’t been one fight between the cats and Bear in the over a year we have had Bear. Well, except that Bear likes to chase Goose sometimes, haha!
I know you want ’em, so here are some pictures! The one’s where she is on my desk are from when she was still a baby. Forgive the mess – it was
*Edit* Looks like the last sentence got cut off. I was saying it was before we switched to the wood stove pellets and were using aspen shavings – she made a big mess with them that day!
Best,
Renee (a.k.a Bear’s mom)
