HI! I know i havent been on much but iv been very busy.2 weeks ago i picked up my Santa Gertrudis Show heifer! her name is Anabelle she is really sweet!.These pics dont do her justice though , shes a stronger red color!
Its really green out now its basiclly been raining for 5 days straight!

She loves her feed and hay! Just bought 2 big bales of Sudan hay for $7.50! really cheap for this hay!

look at all that woobly skin!haha

You can see it tiny horns here, shell have to be dehorned soon poor thing

Saying hi to Patches, they love each other! In fact after this was taken Patches pulled the gate open and let Anabelle out!

Patchs starting to pull the gate

Look at that pretty face!

Patches decided she was ready for her close up!

Aaaaaaaaaahhhh!!!!! Too cute! too cute!! Too much cuteness going on in this forum lately!
I’m loving it!
I don’t know much about cows but I’ve read they’re very intelligent animals, it must be so cool to have them![]()
They are ADORABLE!!! I love cows! SOOO pretty!![]()
Oh, they’re both lovely!!
She’s stunning!!! WOW
I have a thing for big brown cow eyes-I’m in love ![]()
Wow what a lovely red color. I had a horse with a deep chestnut color beautiful Your cow is red tho. Wow. She has a gentle looking face too. Lady eyes.
Patches let her out how funny
I used to have a horse that color too, she was a blood bay! Anabelle is so pretty! I just love cows. I have always loved their ears. How old is she?
I love cows! My grandmother had one that looked like Annabelle she was such a sweet cow. I wish I lived somewhere big enough for a cow
awww… i love cows too <3
i want to kiss her nose ![]()
awww she is soooo cute! Look at those eyelashes…sigh
Not to sound dumb but why do you have to dehorn them? I know nothing about cows but how cute they are!
thanks all ! Anabelle is 7 months and 564 lbs!
And she has to be dehorned for safety reasons.Having horns she could injure herself, other animals , and people so in all its safer
She is very very sweet.haha today she decided she liked hom my jeans tasted and kept licking them while i was claening out her stall.
ooh btw if anyones wondering if youve seen the movies Annabelles Wish i did name her after the cow!! Thats like my favorite christmas movie!
I was kind of wondering if that’s where you got her name! I loved that movie SOOOOOO much as a child (and still do!). So if you don’t mind me asking, what happens to her when she’s no longer a show cow?
She goes back to her orignal herd, I got her fromt is family who breed for the love of the breed, basically im renting her for two years.
The people I got her from have a small herd prob only 20 head of cattle if even that, They have like over 60 acres of just pasture land for them ponds and everything for them. Shell be used as a breeder for a few years then retired to live the rest of her life out on the pasture with her herd.
and Yes Annabelles Wish is a great movie!
I’m glad to hear that! Not that I would think it was wrong if she was being raised for food of course. I definitely understand the need, and what better than to raise that animal with love and care (even if it is hard on the people raising them!). What about your other girl, Patches?
Edit: Sorry I’m asking so many questions! I just love cows and want to know more about them. ![]()
awww!!!! I love cows! She is so darn cute!! That’s really awesome that you get to show her, my mom is involved with horse showing, but I’ve never seen cow showing! How neat! I have a random question for you: I was in Indiana the other week and was at Conner Prairie and they had a baby long horn cow, she was mostly white and was speckled of browns, blacks, greys. The man said she is only 1 of 10 females of that type of cow in the U.S. Is that really true? Maybe he meant her color type? Do you know what I am talking about, I think it was a type of long horn, she was beautiful. They had the 7 month old baby and her Grandma there.

haha dont apolgize!
Patchs isnt mine shes my friends heifer, we all keep our animals at our schools FFA barn.Patchs may go to live at his friends ranch or be sold off.
It sad but the steers will most likly be going for meat, as it is what there raised for while Heifers are kept till the become cows and have their first born and are bred from then on. BUt all of our show animals have the best lives until the day they go.They have never been croweded with hundrends of animals in mess y unhealthy conditions
Just so you know a bull is of course fully intact , steers have been casterated, a heifer is a bovine that has never given birth before and a cow is a female bovine that has had at least one calf.

Most likely he was talking about her coloring.Long Horns are beautiful cattle we have quite of few were I live , i iwhs we could show them but with FFA we cant,
Oh I like her! She looks like she was recently put on a strict diet and used to be quiet the chubber =P I met a cow called swiss miss once who was some sort of swiss-chocolatey aptly named cow.
Also, when you said show heifer i seriously thought you meant rabbit lol. I was like “heifer… rabbit?… well they’re kinda like… horses?”
Don’t eat her! Also, also, your school has a Future Farmers of America barn?!?!?!?! GEESH! different worlds. I kinda would have loved that though. My mother promised me goats when I was in 6th grade. I never got them =(

hahaha ! She actually just got weaned 3 weeks ago so she has lost some of her weight from that, but she will be getting back up soon!
and Yuppers we have a FFA Barn and its awesome, my Ag teach is awesome as well, Ar eyou in FFA?
and Nope shes not a meat cow shes a breeder!
nope… the only reason I know about it is because I had a family friend growing up who lived on a dairy farm… cows have such sticky tongues!!
… I may go vegetarian.
hThats cool and yeah when they like you it feels like a way oversized cat toungue!
And These show animals have the life never over croweded or abused. Much better life then a “stock” animal(sad term)
Pics like that are the reason I’m vegetarian. When people take the time to look at and treat a cow as an individual they are beautiful, smart animals.
It’s funny, cuz when I was a kid I always wanted a horse and my sister wanted a cow named Anabelle, after that movie too!
