Could I ask everyone to hold a good thought for Jenna tomorrow? She’s going in for a dental and, although she’s had one before about a year ago, I get so nervous when any of the animals have to be put under. Plus I have to get up ungodly early, so…would you all give me a mental poke about 6 tomorrow AM AKST?

Yes, she is doing much better today. Yesterday she was still so dopey when we picked her up I am not sure she didn’t think she was dreaming that mommy had returned for her. Instead of getting a frantic happy doggy dance, I got some half-hearted whining and she crawled up into my arms almost onto my shoulder begging to go home. She makes me feel like such a rotter!
They intubated her, which I should’ve warned them about…she has a tendency towards reverse sneezing and so her trachea is very easily irritated. She had some trouble getting her breath on and off last evening. She seems much better today, although is still sleeping quite a bit. At least she felt well enough last night to have some boiled rice and watered down canned food, and take a short walk before bed, so I knew she was coming back by then.I had them check the flexibility of her legs while she was there, because I’ve been fearing luxating patella. The doc says they feel good, no sign of LP.
Her teeth were in better shape than we thought. No extractions (phew!) and only a little receding of the gums on the molars. They put a topical antibiotic on them to keep them from pulling back any farther. Even with not really being able to brush her teeth (she’s stubborn about it) she did a lot better than she did on her first trip to the dentist. Her first owners hadn’t taken care of them at all and she lost four at least. I also warned the vet not to give her that porymorphous shot again that made her so sick for 2 days. x_x So she bounced back well, although I still think they give her way too much anesthesia for a dog her size considering her recovery time.
BT, I HATE having anything done to my teeth. I’d much rather go in for invasive surgery than have a filling drilled.
LPT…lolz! Yeah, the blonde plush bun Mimzy has his head resting on was the subject of much humping when he’d had his teeth filed the last time. He was feeling so well, I guess he had to show someone who was boss! ^_^
Lash, I got that pouch on Etsy. It really isn’t something I’d want to carry her in without holding on to it about the same way I would if I were just carrying her in my arms, but it makes a good snuggie for naptime.
I think if the bunnies would hold still in it, I’d feel better about using it for them! Again, thank you everyone for thinking of Jenna.
It was along day for both of us!
