Roberta – What can you tell me from the future?!

My family rented a house on the coast for Mother’s Day weekend so I’m leaving all the critters for 3 days! Our roommate is watching them all. He often helps out with the fuzzies so I shouldn’t be as worried as I am. I just hate leaving them.

Decided to put off Helo’s first veggies (he and Inara are getting so big!) and Monty/Dexter/Penny bonding until we get back.

Gosh I am really nervous to leave my buns for 3 weeks! I was originally planning to be gone an entire month but I cut it a week shorter. Hopefully they don’t forget me in 3 weeks time lol

We had a run in with one today, too. Hubby was carrying a box outside, I came out behind him and there was a HUGE Garter snake wrapped around the railing, just about a foot away from both of us. Hubby didn’t see it, I screamed “HOLY $!#%!!!” Hubby: “ah, what..?” me: “SNAAAKE!!!”

A second later I felt stupid, when the poor harmless snake dropped himself to the ground and scurried away (under the house). In my defense, he was very big for a Garter snake, he must have been eating well.

Hazel – OMG that’s so funny! I’m sure he would have taken off anyway though. Snakes can’t hear sound in the air as well as we can. Just seeing you can make them take off in a hurry. I have always found garter snakes to be pretty flighty. I’m sure he was more afraid of you than you were of him.

I think I’m going to cry. We are expecting a 30-35 degree drop in temperature from today to tomorrow. They are expecting SNOW?!? =O Tomorrow is May first. I have never seen snow this late in the year in my life. I guess we will see tomorrow, if the weatherman is correct. It really sucks because it has been so nice outside ever since last Friday. This has been the worst spring season ever.

May isn’t here yet! My bday is at the end of the month. I am not really doing anything. I am going to get a tattoo (not bunny related, but I will have a bunny tattoo one day) soon and that technically is my birthday gift. =) My little sister is graduating High School this month so the attention will be focused on her, understandably.

NBO: I am taking all three of my bunnies to have Nancy, (the adoption coordinator at the rescue), bond them. I do not know how long they will be gone. I don’t want them to be gone but I figure it’s better this way. I am going to rearrange the bunny area in that time and also paint my bedroom while they are gone. =D It’s stressful leaving or taking your bunnies somewhere but I am lucky I have someone who I trust with them and who I know knows bunnies. When I go on vacation in June she is going to bunny sit for me so I am lucky I have a bunny sitter instead of having to board them somewhere.

Next Wednesday, I begin my externship at an Oncology clinic. I’ll be getting vital signs and rooming patients that are getting chemotherapy. I really want to learn some front desk stuff too

This month’s gonna be awesome, tomorrow (the second) is my nephew’s birthday. He’s gonna be three!  I remember when he was born and I got to hold him for the first time. He’s like my little brother, and I can’t believe he’s getting so big.  He’s about three feet  tall, with an attitude even bigger. (Don’t get me started on that. He’s got a little mouth on him. “No” is his favorite word. And “Shut up” is his favorite phrase.) Other than that, on the third I’m going to my first (and probably only) prom. Even though I technically don’t go to that school anymore, my friend needed a date, and I said yes. I think I look pretty spiffy in my tux. I’ve thought about buying one (In my defense, I need one for weddings, because me and my dad DJ them, and some people want us to wear formal wear.) x) And then, of course mothers day. I’m planning on getting my mom something for her camera, I just don’t know yet (She’s a photographer.) Maybe I’ll get her a backdrop (They’re extremely expensive for the nice ones that she likes, though.) And then me, my parents, and my one sister and her boyfriend are going to Gettysburg, for a day trip (it’s only a three hour drive.) and then possibly Laural Caverns (It’s a cave in PA that has lots of bats… I may or may not want to go just for the bats…) and then of course some stuff that’s unplanned yet. I’ve been getting out of my shell more, and I’m really happy with myself for trying. So I’m gonna have an exciting month. Anyone else have anything exciting going on?  Oh, let’s not forget the bunnies will be getting a room makeover. AKA they’re getting moved, to a little cubby we have that’s about 10 feet long, and 3 & 1/2 feet wide, so they get that WHOLE space to themselves, when I clean it out for them. Ah. I never be a part of the monthly chat, only occasionally popping in, and reading the whole thing. But yeah.

Thanks! I litterally haven’t been with friends since like… 9th grade… So about 3 or 4 years… I ended up being home schooled and just really antisocial. And lately I’ve been making plans with all my old friends and just getting out and not being such a hermit. But that might actually be a good idea, for a mother’s day gift. My mom was actually saying about how she wants some pictures of hers and dad’s framed so we had some more things to put on the walls, or maybe I can get a picture of me, my brother, my sisters and my nephew all together and get that framed. I’ll have to think about it some more.

I’ve been working really hard the past couple weeks at going outside my house. It’s the spring weather that really motivates me to change! I even went fishing! I wouldn’t dare go alone, my husband was with me, but I hope one day I can go places alone. Anyhoo, I went fishing and made my garden and flower beds! I was super proud of myself. I don’t like being seen by people for some reason or go into public alone haha it’s really a ridiculous fear.

I can’t wait for me to become fully independent again. I know that when my husband gets deployed I will have no choice but to go out alone to get food and such so I’m trying really hard to change willingly before having to change out of force!

The buns are going to be at a coworkers house on base. They said they love bunnies! I’m still going to write them a care sheet of course

Amy how did you broach the subject of having the adoption coordinator help bond them? I feel like I’m stuck right now like you are in the bonding process. I remember you had the same woman help bond Rascal and Valentine so I wanted to try to ask the rescue we got our buns from if they would be wiling to help us. But they seem more of the mind to “let’s just swap your bun with another and try them”. Which would kill me. I just love my little ones. I couldn’t swap them with another.

 

 

Everyone is becoming so motivated!  Keep it up! I totally love the summer time because you feel motivated to do things.

 

 

So I wanted to ask everyone. What is a rabbit safe pesticide? Since we live in the boondocks we actually have a wild rabbit warren that lives in our backyard.  Oh my goodness are they cute! But we do have problems with banana spiders, bull/fire ants, and wasps (evil nasty wasps). Since I’m not a native Floridian my immune system is not used to the insects here and every time I get bit by something I end up having to go to the hospital. So I wanted to find a pesticide that could be used but not hurt the wild hares that live in our backyard. I was wondering if dictomas (sorry not sure how to spell it) earth would work. But how safe is it around the buns? I don’t want them eating the grass and ingest the stuff and get sick.

Ughhhh – May ALREADY?!?!?!?

I run my first half-marathon this coming Sunday.  And I’m nervous as heck!  Since I haven’t run since the condo explosion (the cleaners didn’t bring back my shoes for weeks!)… BUT since I’m doing it for the bunnies… Hahaha.  Anyways, if you haven’t hit the 12 mile mark by a certain time they give you a ride there!  I’ll just kick up my shoes on a chair and wait for the car when I can’t go any further… Bahaha!    To complete it without the car you have to run an estimated 14 minute mile throughout the race.  But there’s walkers also.  Maybe I’ll just decide to walk with them when it gets too hard!    Oh gosh… I’m going to die. AND I have to be there around 6am.  The race starts at 7am.  I never even get out of bed before 11am most days.  This should be entertaining…

BunnyGirl – Hysterical about your dad!  He seems to be the hardest but then when you convince him he’s all about helping!  

I had to leave the buns for a week while we went on vacation last summer… LOL.  They gave the lady who came to give them run time a run for her money.  Oh my Terrible Tans… I don’t think she’ll come back to bunnysit if we ever need her to!  Nora and Simbas rescue does boarding for bunnies when people need it (out of their homes) so if we did need to go somewhere ever, it should be okay.   I’m not sure if they charge for it or not though…  And they said with five it may be easier to just have a few people from the rescue to come check in on them a few times a day.   Although, we really aren’t sure we would want to do that or not.  We’ve decided not to go on a vacation this summer since Nora is getting her spay and they will all need to be bonded.   Instead we are thinking about doing a staycation and just staying at home for a week off from work and finding fun things to do together around here. 
 

My weekend home was really boring – but it was great to see everyone!  I did a lot of reading and I’m almost 3/4s of the way through with Les Miserables!  Which is a really good book but the history lesson parts can get kind of boring…  Anyway, when I went home for Christmas I wasn’t able to see my older brother (he came a day later) and so I was just getting the Christmas presents he got me!  Two of them were a bunny phone cover and then bunny slippers!   

 

 

I was trying to take a picture of them and of course, Nora found them and HAD to investigate.  Pretty sure she thinks she found new friends.  One slipper is bigger than she is! 

 

I made a collage of Fleury from newborn to now (one year and two months) for my blog and thought I would post the picture here also:  it’s soooo cute to see how much he’s grown and changed!

LBJ10: Yeah, I’m sure we startled him too, walking out if the house all of a sudden. He was so close that I almost hit him with the door, he probably didn’t appreciate that, either.

That does sound like some crazy weather, hopefully your weatherman turns out to be wrong!

Aww, baby Fleury, so cute!! I never feel like I got enough baby pictures of our pets, they grow up so fast and you’re too busy playing with them to take lots of pictures. Fleury looks so sweet in the third one, with those big ears!

 

Hubby just figured out that our radiator hose is shot, it’s spitting so much coolant out it would put any fountain to shame! We’ll go get a new one and try to fix this ourselves. Keep your fingers crossed!

Well the rescue I adopted my three from is very nice.  I love them and do everything I can to help.  It also helps that I talk to them on Facebook sometimes.  I just asked her if she could help me with the bonding again.  I, of course, in return will donate to the rescue.  =) The rescues out here in SoCal usually do help with bonding if you need it. I am lucky that I found a great, friendly rescue close to me, though. I would just call or email your rescue (maybe there are more rescues around that might be willing to help you?) and ask them if they would help with bonding your two?  I don’t think you should have to swap yours. I’ve never heard of that before.  Anyway, good luck and I hope you can get them bonded!  =)  

 

On another note, I am stressing out more than I probably should. Someone just surrendered a bunch of baby bunnies to a shelter in LA county.  They are said to surrender about 15 more on Friday.  There is one that really caught my eye because it looks like he may have an eye issue or may even be blind in that eye.  I talked to the rescue I got my bunnies from and they agreed that if I can pay the adoption fee to get the bunny out they will help me look for a home for this bunny. Of course, I will help get the medical taken care of as well.  I really hope I will be able to foster this rabbit.  I wish I could help more but I just can’t right now.  I couldn’t even sleep last night thinking about all the bunnies being surrendered to this shelter.  =(  Unfortunately, rescues are jam packed with bunnies right now so I don’t think many can help.  Just individuals.  I know my rescue just told me what’s going on with them and how many rabbits they have now.  It’s crazy!!

I had Helo running around the kitchen while I was making breakfast this morning and his foot is completely healed, no awkwardness anymore. He was going nuts chinning everything. My feet, furniture, my husbands leg, our cats, the cupboards… Lol. He’s 12 weeks old today and Inara is just shy of 11 weeks. He weighed 7 pounds on Friday and she’s about 6 pounds.

I should ask my local rescue if they do any bunny boarding (I doubt it because they’re really full) but it would be nice to be able to go on a real vacation this year! I always worry about getting someone to watch the bunnies for extended periods (longer than 3 days). The cats and pups are easy to find sitters for.

I may break down and start bonding Monty/Dexter/Penny today… I really want to get started but next weekend I’ll be gone for three days and I don’t want three days of to set back the bonding. Will three days off next week (Mother’s day weekend) set bonding back a lot?

@ Tanlover, I love baby Fleury’s adorably huge ears! I’m seriously in love with Nora, brb bun napping.

@ LBJ & Hazel, I like snakes but I don’t like SURPRISE snakes. I always ask my husband to check the garden before I dig in because if one surprises me I can’t help but wig a little even when they’re harmless. >.>

TanLover, yeah it’s kind of hard to make a guess at what could be wrong, if anything, based on a picture. But the eye is cloudy so I am assuming somethings going on there. Hopefully if I can get him out of there he’ll be just a happy healthy bunny with no eye problem! =)

It’s raining right now. The water looks “heavy”, not really freezing rain yet. The temp is 36 or something. =(

Hazel – Well it has to do with some animals that were brought there by a visitor. These animals (mice) were alive and I am upset about how they were rendered “unalive”. I knew nothing about it until after the fact. If I had been there, they probably would have come home with me.

I just found out that my mom is having a heart catheterization tomorrow and wants me to be there. The only problem is tomorrow I have to pick up Lucy at 11. My mom asked me if I could come after I pick Lu up, but I’m too worried about leaving her alone on her first day back home. So I don’t really know what to do.

Hazel – You are correct, they were used for food. Which is what we have to feed to certain animals and I am not against that. The ones we order are humanely euthanized. Sadly, these guys had been someone’s pets and well.. you know. =(

MB – Is it okay if I hate you right now? LOL The rain is starting to freeze and they are expecting it to change to snow later tonight.

Caroline – Lucy will be fine if you leave her alone for a few hours. Do you have someone who can check on her? It might make you feel a little better.

Today was the first day I ran in years! It was so good to run again! I’ve always enjoyed running…can’t believe I stopped doing something I loved because of strangers harsh opinions. Then I went fishing and tomorrow we are going to build a fence in our backyard for the buns to have supervised play time

UGH! I am so disappointed. I had my heart set on saving that rabbit at Baldwin Park Shelter, but unfortunately I live at home with my parents and my dad said no to fostering. He said it’s due to differing opinions on the subject. I am like WHAT!? I can’t even argue or try to stand my case because he would just get angry. I told him it was a good thing to foster and he said he had a different opinion. He drives me insane. His views are really strange. I am so sad I cannot save this rabbit. I was really hoping he would say I could foster it. He instead said, “I don’t want to get this house involved in something like that…” I was in shock when he said that. He acts like it’s drugs or something. Sorry to vent on here…I am just so frustrated with him.

Yesterday it was crazy, sweaty hot and today it’s cold and windy. That’s Texas for you. Ever changing, weird weather.

Lucy update! I picked my girl up today and she’s doing great! She’s eaten a little bit since she’s been home, but mostly I think she’s too zonked out on pain meds to do anything. The shelter gave me two more doses of meds to give tomorrow and Saturday, which I thought was very nice of them. She’s been a little bit active and I was able to get her to stand up for me. This is going to sound weird/stupid, but I was actually kind of surprised that she has nipples. I guess it’s because I could never see them until now. haha.

Woke up to snow this morning. Very heavy wet snow. It melted by the afternoon, but I sure wasn’t having fun outside this morning.

Whelp, Leopold certainly learned a lesson tonight. I was vacuuming with the shop vac and he was biting and scratching at the hose. I went to shoo him away with the end of the wand I had attached and I accidentally sucked him. I mean the suction really had him for a second and he broke away. Whoopsie. =\ He scurried off under the desk, flicking his feet the whole way. Apparently he wasn’t too traumatized though because after about a minute he was inching his way over to the shop vac again. *sigh*

Today was an exciting day! We built a fence in the backyard because our neighbor was getting upset that our dog’s leash was long enough that they could take steps into his yard. So we got to build a back yard! It’s small, but it’s more room than they had on the leash! Plus, it’s rabbit proofed so the buns can go outside too! I can’t wait to take them out there on the next pretty day so they can munch on some grass and play! I don’t think Sally will be going but I know Harley would LOVE to go because anytime I open the back door to let the dogs out he tries to go outside too lol
Anytime he hears me opening the door he comes running down the hallway to stick his head out and get a good sniff!

NBO – He has never been afraid of the vacuum. I imagine because he can’t hear the loud scary noises it makes. Wooly takes off the second he sees it. Oh well, I’m sure Leopold’s caution will wear off by the next time I vacuum. He is quite stubborn, you know.
I would really like to have a fenced in yard. We were never able to get a fence though. Our doggie is so old though now that we really don’t need to worry about it. I set her outside and she does her business, then I take her back in. She doesn’t go too far. I have never taken the rabbits outside. There really isn’t a good place to take them. Plus I would need a pen or something.

I am soooo excited! I just bought paint to paint my room. It has not been painted since I was a baby. I am almost 22 now. LOL It’s got horrible walls for a 22 year old. The bunnies won’t be here so I am able to actually paint my room while they are away. If it weren’t for having bunnies in my room, i’d be pretty miserable living in a baby room. haha Now I get to paint it. =D It’s going to be a nice light shade of blue. I never imagined myself to have a blue room but the color clicked and I love it! =) I am stoked about painting my room finally!

Finally starting to get some energy back and have decided to attack the pockets of grunge that have accumulated since the ceiling caved in starting with the bedroom. Aside from the cat hair the first thing that had to go was the old scratchy post for the cats. Been feeling like the buns have been getting all the lovin lately so I decided to spoil the long tails.

They can all fit on at the same time and 23 yr old Twinkletoes have have the bottom. (They sprayed it with catnip at the store before loading it in the car), I’ll put her bed under there when I am finished cleaning and rearranging. Of course my HD Hoover upright has decided to over heat so I am going to have to use the barrel vac. Works well, but too well, I have to empty it every couple of minutes. Also have new manchester. Decided to put the autumnal one on. Thankfully I decided to throw myself on the bed immediately after changing it so I could enjoy it first because when I went back to my room 10 minutes later the bed was occupado… 4 of 5 kittehs spread all over the new quilt cover. Twinkers was on the satin throws in the loungeroom.

I have since filled the vase on the table far right with Bird of Paradise flowers from the garden.

I went to Petco yesterday. And they had Oxbow Oat hay listed for $15.99 for 15oz. and for 15oz. of Orchard grass they wanted $49.99. I was dumbfounded by the price that I asked a worker to double check the price. She said it was right. O.o I’m so dumbfounded by the fact that they made the prices go up by so much. Is there something wrong with hay this season?

We’ve had hay mite infestations down here so currently it’s really hard to get the good bagged hay. I prefer it to the others as it is so fresh and crunchy and smells beautiful. But alas there is no end to the shortage in sight so it’s the baled hay for a few more weeks.

Thanks. I was just super curious. I had run out of hay for the little ones and ran to the store for a back up supply for when it comes in. Because the Oxbow was so darn expensive I tried another brand which was surprisingly really nice and fresh.

Caroline that’s the price that it normally is. I don’t know why they marked up the price here. I don’t see how the fact that we’re in different states would be the reason for such a big mark up. Oh well. =p

The bun buns left yesterday morning to go be bonded. When I got home I immediately starting prepping my room to be painted. I started at 12pm and ended at 9pm. It was a VERY long day…and exhausting. I have a lot of stuff in my room. I had no idea I had that much stuff!! lol Finally, around 8pm last night my sister and I started painting the corners of the room. Today I am going to finish painting. It was so exhausting yesterday. I covered my bed and the rabbit condo up and so I couldn’t sleep in my bed. Which is not good because I was in a lot of pain from doing all that! So I ended up sleeping on the worn down couch in the playroom, which was TERRIBLY uncomfortable. I barely slept. I am just glad I am not too sore today. My body just feels tired, but I am not really that sore.

I am going to order some rabbit silhouettes (wall decals) to put on my walls after I paint.

This is an exciting, yet tiring, adventure! haha I have never painted a room before! =O

I cannot wait until everything is finished! Especially the rabbit area! =D It’s not going to be as big as I thought but it will be a decent size. =)

Anyway, that was my eventful Sunday.

Now I am missing the bunnies…I can’t wait until they come home. Nancy said they are doing well. She said Rascal and Marley were nose to nose through the pens and there was no aggression, so that’s good. She also said they were eating like champs! lol I told her that they love their food, especially Valentine!

It’s really weird not having the bunnies around. I woke up today thinking I had to go give them food and fresh water then I realized they are not here. =/

I won’t have them in the room right away. I am going to set up a semi-neutral area where they can be together in my house for a few days then I will put them into the room. Also, I am going to be cleaning and sterilizing every bun thing so hopefully this will just be an easy bond and when I bring them home it will still be good. =) It’s good to sterilize bun things when you’re introducing another bun to the mix. So once it doesn’t smell like them I am sure things will still be fine.

Amy, it must be soo difficult!  When I went on vacation, I was sooo worried about them and was constantly waiting for updates every night on how they were doing!  It was soooo hard.  I missed them sooo much.  I wouldn’t worry too much about them fighting when they come back.  As long as you thoroughly clean the area you should be fine.  As well as I do believe you’re building them a new space?  I’ve always changed the (then condo) around when introducing another bunny.  Like Simba.  I switched the levels around and added a few new toys.  The Tans were just as curious to this “new house” as Simba so they just explored everything together.  Because everything is switched around and doesn’t smell like them, they tend to not recognize it I believe.   Mine only scuffled a few times in the new house – but they did this EVERY time I switched them to a new area during bonding so it didn’t come as a shock.  

The Oxbow is still the normal price around here also, shocking that it could be that expensive!!!  Oy!  I would never be able to afford that with five bunnies now!   Amy, now that you have three have you looked into ordering the big boxes of Oxbow?  So much cheaper.  50 lb box = $61 for us.  I know BullRider has had trouble finding it for that price where he lives but you should look around and see if a pet store offers buying if from Oxbow for you!  Two of our small pet stores order directly from Oxbow for us and have it shipped to them so with both it costs around $60.  It really cheapened our costs when we had three! 
 

So I ran my first Half-Marathon yesterday!  In Pittsburgh, of course!  It was great.  I haven’t been training for it since the fire which means I haven’t ran at all in a month n a half.  BUT I managed to finish in 2 hours, 47 minutes, and 17 seconds so I was happy!  It went by a lot faster than I thought it was and everyone was so encouraging!  Here’s a picture of the metal I got and Simba with it.  I ran to raise money for Rabbit Wranglers, the rescue where we adopted our Simba from.  I raised $510!  

 

 

And then the night before the boyfriend and I decided to try our hand for the first time at pasta making!  It was awesome.  We have the KitchenAide mixer and so we got the pasta roller attachments for it and went to town!  It was really fun and tasted SOOO good.  I love looking at ChaChas food photos so thought you guys may be interested in seeing how our pasta turned out!  

 

 

Also, I’m SOOOO sore.  NEVER EVER run a Half-Marathon without training!  I really can barely move.  And when I’m sleeping, every time I move I wake up from my sore limbs aching!  LOL.  If I was just doing it for myself I probably wouldn’t have ran it since I hadn’t trained but I had to do it for the bunnies and it turned out I’m really, really happy I did it!  

 

I can’t wait for Nora’s spay – I’m literally counting the days!!!  She is such a demon right now!! #babybunnyproblems

Today was the first day I had where I could sleep in for awhile. Of course the dog woke up this morning and she was lying in her bed making her annoying little noises she makes. She goes “errr….. errr….. errr…..” I don’t know what her problem was. If she wants something, she usually comes over and starts whining or something. But nope, she was just lying in her bed making these short little groaning noises.

Yeah, I am redoing the area where the bunnies stay. They will still have the condo (which Marley has been staying in and destroying! lol) but I am going to really get in there and clean it well. It’s going to be the condo, an x-pen on one side, and then NIC grids on the other side. So it will be pretty new to all of them. I will be sure to clean everything really well before they come home, though. I will probably buy them a couple new things too. =)

I actually did buy a 50 pound box of Oxbow hay from drs foster and smith. It wasn’t cheap but I knew it would be worth it in the long run. I think I paid like $75 for it or something like that. Not sure.

That’s so great that you raise that much money for the rescue and did the half-marathon. I wish I could raise a bunch of money for the rescue I got my bunnies from!

I’ve always wondered how to make pasta. I think it would be awesome to experiment and make your own food from absolute scratch. I should try making some pasta! =D

I can imagine you’d be pretty sore without training. It’s still a great thing you did, though. =) Hopefully you feel better soon!

 

LBJ: No there is no carpet in my bedroom.  It should be fairly easy to clean.  I already mopped once but I am going to mop again once my room is done being painted.  (which I am painting my room alone so dunno how long that will take)

Today I lost my dog, Ava, of 17 years. Heartbreaking phone call.

On another note, we are making a duct tape kayak! We saw it on MYthbusters and thought it would be fun to make. The frame work is going to be made of PVC pipe and the rest will be heavy duty duct tape and to decorate it we will be getting the decorative duct tape o outline like the trimming and such. I can’t wait to try it out. Plus, it will distract me…

Okay so rant time.

So I do follow a few high schoolers I know on instagram and I am currently outraged. It’s prom season and every high school girl loves to share how their date asked them in some special way and they post it all over the internet. So this girl I know just posted her asking (which was really late, because their prom is this weekend….), anyways, HER DATE GAVE HER A BUNNY TO ASK HER TO PROM. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!? Like people’s misconceptions about rabbits make me so angry!!! And this same girl had commented on my instagram pictures of Lucy before asking about where I got her, and when I told her, she was like “oh, I don’t want a bunny. I just want to play with bunnies.” AGH IM SO MAD!!! I know this girl is not going to take care of this bunny and is just going to dump it somewhere in a few months when it becomes a hormonal teenager!!! I swear if she posts pictures of it living in a tiny pet store cage or in an aquarium, I’m going to scream.

Wow. Just wow. Is it okay to rant a little? I guess I was just more shocked than anything. I was talking about the trees and how they aren’t “dead” during the winter months. Then I asked the kids what a leaf’s job is. They said they didn’t know. So I explained to them that leaves are like little factories. They make food (sugar) for the plant. They looked at me like I was crazy. But that wasn’t the part that shocked me. After all, they are kids and a lot of kids don’t know these things yet. The teacher, however, had a surprised look on her face. Then she said out loud that she didn’t know that and what I said was very interesting. Seriously? SERIOUSLY? And no, I don’t think she was saying that just for the kids. I think she really, truly meant that. Oh boy.

LBJ10, no I moved about a year and a half ago to the Delaware and she is in Texas. The last time I got to see her was Oct 2012. But I did spend the first 14 years with her. I had her since I was 5 and I’m now 22. So we basically grew up together. It was pretty heartbreaking hearing my mom crying on the phone that she found Ava in her bed sleeping, but wouldn’t wake up when she called. I have a post in the rainbow bridge section with pics and such.

I got Sally as a Christmas present and I hadn’t done much research prior but as soon as I got her I was like an research addict wanting the best for Sally. At first she was in one of those store bought cages but now she is in a C&C cage and highly spoiled with her boyfriend, Harley
Of course, I have ALWAYS wanted a bunny growing up and I would beg my mother for one every christmas and birthday and any time I saw a bunny. I finally got a rabbit as a gift from my husband…15 years later lol I love her though Maybe she will seek advice from you because she knows that you have a bunny and she is a new bunny mom…

Even though I got Sally as a surprise I think getting an animal for someone should NOT be a surprise. THey need to ask if the gift recipient is willing to take care of said animal. My husband complains about the buns and how expensive they are and HE was the one who purchased them so HE should have known better so he has to deal with his decision…because my buns aren’t going anywhere because of his ignorance And he knows it…he secretly loves them, I catch him all the time petting them or he sends me pics of them while I’m at work lol

Omigosh you guys would not believe what just happened! A pipe busted in the bathroom and the whole bathroom floor was flooded and it even leaked into the hallway. So half the hallway is flooded AND the bathroom! I heard a light pssssssttt and after about 30 minutes I paused the TV and realized it wasn’t my TV. So I got up and followed the sound down the hallway. About halfway to the bathroom I stepped in water… my gosh so much water! I am rotating towels out of the dryer and trying to soak up as much water from the carpet as possible. After this last round I am going to pull up the rugs and place a fan so that airflow gets under the carpet as well for quick drying. I don’t want mildew or mold growing under the carpet! Argh! Today has just been a rough day

Looks like I will be needing to take Pooh Bear to the vet for an exam. He has been throwing up a lot the past few weeks. Anytime he drinks water he throws it up a few minutes later. Same with his food. He’s also throwing up lots of acid if he hasn’t had his meal yet. I just want to make sure everything is ok with him as he is a senior dog. Vibes for Pooh Bear!

Le Sigh. I can feel you on the vet front today, NBO. Dropping Nora off at the vets on my way to work today. She’s been having sneezing fits again lately with no discharge. Hopefully something will show up that can be fixed. If not, I think I will have to give in and just assume it’s allergies of some sort. Or something is irritating her nose. Sending Pooh some healing vibes though! Hopefully a quick dose of meds will clear up whatever is ailing him.

So sorry about Ava. <3 And everything else that has been going on in your life, NBO. Try to use the comfort of your furbabies to help you heal and get over the death of her. They become such an important family member, don't they? It really hurts when it's their time to leave us..

That is a great idea for a blog post.  I wanted to rescue a rabbit from a shelter that looked like it may have some eye trouble.  I contacted my rescue and they said as long as I could pay the adoption fee and everything I could go through them to help him out.  Unfortunately I was not able to save him because my dad doesn’t believe in fostering anything, which is kind of weird and doesn’t seem quite right but I have to obey him while living here.  I know how much bunnies cost (vet wise) but some people just don’t realize that they can really rack up bills.  Luckily so far the only problem I’ve had was with Marley when I first got him he needed his teeth fixed (which I have to take him for a check up next month).  It wasn’t really that expensive, though and the rescue reimbursed me for it so it was basically free for me.  

 

I hope little Nora is okay and I hope the vet can find whats making her sneeze and treat it.  

 

Anyway…On another note, I am almost finished with painting my room.  It needs another coat of paint.  I haven’t been sleeping in my room because it’s torn apart and my bed is covered with plastic.  lol  It’s exhausting work and even more exhausting when I can’t sleep properly . I am not good with sleeping outside my room (in my own house).  I ordered my wall decals but unfortunately they are coming from Singapore soooo it’s going to be a while before they get here.  LOL The lady seemed really nice though, so I am assuming they will be safe through shipping.  I am about to go to Lowes to get some switch plates for my room.  I also might by a wall clock…Dunno.  Either way my room is looking a lot nicer than it did!  =D  I am proud of myself.  lol

 

I miss my bunnies a lot though.  Nancy said they are doing well though.  Rascal was being a little fiesty toward Marley but Marley was taking it well, which is good.  I hope they continue to do well, there and I can’t wait until they come home!  =D

*sigh* It is a good thing I only had one hike today. I was this close to ringing some little necks. LOL No teachers with, just parents. I didn’t even bother talking about what leaves do with this group. They were so crazy and out of control. I told them repeatedly not to do things and they simply would not listen. It is so difficult to try discussing anything when kids are like that. And this one girl kept saying “can we go now?” every time we would stop to look at something. UGH!

Well I’ve officially exhausted myself. lol I have been working for so long, pretty much non-stop. I JUST finished the second coat of paint. My hands and arms hurt. My room is almost done being painted. It looks so nice. I wonder if I can sleep in there tonight…lol Three non-stop days working in there….Only more days to come! Maybe I should rest?

I just got some new shutters for my window (yay!!) and outlet covers. I also bought a couple more tiles for the rabbit area because it’s going to be hot in the summer and I know they like the tiles. I have HUGE water bottle in the freezer to keep the buns cool this summer.

Here is something completely random that I’d like your thoughts on!!!

My best friend is 41 weeks pregnant! Yes, 41, she was due last week! She is huge and tired and uncomfortable and swollen. Anyone who has been through this know how you feel that far along. Her doctor has scheduled her to go into the hospital tonight, and she will be started on the induction medicine (Pitocin) tomorrow morning. I followed the same course of events with my son (almost 10 years ago) and he was born at 6:30 in the evening.

So chances are very high that her baby will be born at Thursday May 9th! We are all thrilled and can’t wait to meet her!

The problem is (WHY DOES THERE HAVE TO BE A PROBLEM?!) her husband has a child with his ex-wife, who just happened to be born on May 9th a few years back. Now the ex-wife is MAD (like, really, really PO’ed) that the new baby will have the same birthday. She has gone so far as to strongly suggest that my BFF move her induction date. Keep in mind, she’s already a week overdue!

So, would you be mad if you were in the ex-wife’s position? She says that the birthday is her daughter’s “special day” and she shouldn’t have to share it, but if my BFF went into labor on her own on May 9th, it wouldn’t have mattered anyways. Babies comes when they come. It’s obvious that both were conceived around the same time, so what difference does it make if the baby is born on May 8th, 9th, or 10th? They will still be having joint birthday parties and everything!

My BFF just wants to be excited, and now this woman has to stick her nose in her business. I know a lot of families who have kids with birthdays within a week of each other. I guess you have to think back to what was going on 9 months prior (holidays, birthday, vacations, etc…) LOL!

The majority of birthdays in our family are September so I am guessing (being Summer here in December) the early Xmas parties and New Years eve was celebrated.. As for the late December (mine) early January ones it was probably Valentines Day…
As far as dates are concerned I have a sister who is the same. She had the horrors a while back when one of my great nieces was due on her birthday.
Frankly, given that several million people already share my birthday it really doesn’t phase me if another family member has the same. In fact it will give me the chance to pass on the wisdom of how to deal with people who wrap your birthday present in Xmas paper and say it’s for both.

I’m glad you all agree! I’ve asked some friends (in real life) and they’re divided… some say the ex is being silly, childish, petty, and some other “choice” words… A couple said they can understand her wanting her daughter to have her own day. The daughter is young enough that her opinions can be swayed easily. It’s all about how you present it to her. If they say, “How amazing! You get to share your birthday with your baby sister!” she will likely be excited.

Today was a little sad at work. One of our animals was put down last night. Poor thing had an abscess that just wouldn’t heal and the vet didn’t feel there was much more to be done. =(

I am going to have to buy a baby gate. Just the other day I was telling a neighbour about bunnies and there amazing problem solving skills.
This orning I get up to discover that they have managed to unlatch the Xpen and are making the most of the storage area. Pepper is on and in the hay bale bag, Pipi has made it up the shelves to the pellets and extra Craisins, Blossom is demolishing the newspapers and Piglet is supervising. Thankfully being slightly bunny psychic I had decided it was a good idea to block the door of the bunny room with an extra Xpen panel.

If I really think about it I can also kinda, sorta see her point of view, LBJ10. Birthdays ARE special, but so are sisters! But again, it’s not like my BFF and her husband are doing it to be malicious. “Oh, we’ll get her! We’ll have the baby the same day! BWAHAHAHA!!!!” I guess it’s the way you think about it. Out of 365 days, what are the chances that they have the same bday?! Not very high! The new parents are trying to see the “amazing-ness” in the coincidence, while the ex is just spewing her negativity during this otherwise joyous time!

WARNING LABOR RELATED STUFF:

On an excited note: she is currently 4 cm dilated. They gave her the cervix softening medication last night, and then she was having some pain so they gave her Nubain. Shortly after she had an epidural. The nurses are thinking she won’t have to actually be “induced” with the Pitocin since she’s progressing on her own! I’m hoping we have a sweet little baby very, very soon!

On another note… Noras vet visit went pretty well. They attempted to flush her nasal passages out with water but she just fought too much so they made the decision to do it when she is under during her spay next month. Poor baby girl.

And on ANOTHER note, we decided to cancel our VPI account so none of the buns have pet insurance anymore. We were sending in $55 a month so it seemed reasonable to just put that into a savings account for them. AND we both have Care Credit cards now… with a credit line up to $4,100 together so I feel okay giving it up now that we KNOW we have the funds to be okay with them in the future. Without help. As I was calling to cancel I was looking through the actual policy papers – and boy, they really get you sometimes. There’s so many things they will only pay a small percentage of AND they won’t pay for anesthesia! Glad we finally canceled.

So I have decided to put off getting my tattoo for a few months. I think my bunnies are more important, and spoiling them is top priority! haha

I am almost done putting together the rabbit area! yay! It’s been an exhausting week. My room looks a lot better and I am happy with it. I don’t know that I can call it “my” room, though. I really redid it for the bunnies. It’s really bunny friendly now! Basically they have taken over my bedroom. lol They probably would have taken over the whole house by now if I lived alone. =P

I now realise why they have been watching me so intently when I clean the play area. I release the side of the panels and fold them back so I can move about easily and sweep out the area. I thought thye were just entertained watching the slave at work. Given that they had managed to open the Xpen in exactly the same way I believe they have been learning how Mummy does it so they could try it themselves.

No sooner were they back in and secure Pepper went back to the side panel of the Xpen and was working at opening it again. I had to push a pile of phone books against it to stop them from springing it out.

Give the Tans time, I am sure they will give it a go…….and its a whole lot easier than trying to jump over.

I will never forget Piglets first bid for freedom when he was little. They were still in a small hutch as they were tiny. I was in the habit of opening the top to replace bedding and give them breakfast. This particular morning as I opened the top Piglet came bolting up the ramp and when he hit the top just kept going. He literally flew over the side of the hutch and landed on the big squidgy cushions on the chair next to it. He was so pleased with himself and I was recovering from the mild coronary he had just given me.

Yesterday was hectic. All I wanted was for people to leave so I could lock up and eat my lunch! We’re supposed to do that, otherwise we don’t get a “real” lunch. We don’t get paid for that time, so we should not be “working” during that time.

I’m a little worried. I have to take the dog to the vet this afternoon. She has gotten a lot of “warty” bumps all over her in her old age. Lot’s of dogs get them, I guess it’s a hereditary thing. Anyway, one of them erupted last night and it won’t stop oozing. So I’m going to take her in to see if they can do something for it. =(

Tanlover I can understand why you canceled the VPI. The only reason why I have it is for Skipper. She has G.I. issues and they are willing to help out with Sub. Q fluids and the appt. costs. So I find it really helps for her. But I see no use for it for the boys. They’re hearty little things.

So I’m a little tired. I swear I must have BunMom Hearing because Skipper woke me up 5 o’clock this morning frantically zooming up and down her cage. This wasn’t her fun zooming. It was the “I’m scared help me Mommy” zooming. I went over to see her and she started to thump like crazy. The bf slept through it all until I had to wake him up. Skipper was thumping so bad it caused Hugo to come out of his box and thump with her. Which then at that point scared me because Ian didn’t come out. So I was worried something was wrong with him and they were reacting to it. Nope. Ian was fine. When I went to go check on him, he gave me the “What Mom I’m sleepingggggg” look. =p Leave it to that boy to not be phased. Any way, I have no l clue what caused Skipper’s thumping. I felt so bad for how freaked out she was I let her have roam time (which she is still having, the spoiled little girl =] ).

Well that was gross. LOL
Her wart-like growth had a extra piece coming off of it. The vet clamped it off with a surgical clamp and then cauterized it to stop the bleeding. They can’t remove the whole thing, unfortunately. But a good portion of it is gone now and it isn’t bleeding. The vet said it didn’t look infected at all, which is what I was worried about. We are just supposed to watch it and make sure it doesn’t start oozing/bleeding again. Oddly enough, my dog just sat there the entire time she was fiddling with it. She even shaved the scab-matted fur off for me and she still didn’t flinch. I asked if she could feel it at all and the vet said no. Apparently there isn’t much feeling in those wart-like growths. Blech.

I know how you feel about leaving your bunnies. I have a great rabbit person though that I can count on to watch my babies. I am supposed to go on vacation at the end of June and she is going to watch them for my (again) but I am debating whether or not to go. I would love to be in the mountains in the fresh air and trees but at the same time being away from my bunnies is HARD!

Question – The vet said it was okay to give her a bath to wash some of the stuff off of her fur (it got a little messy when the vet was doing her thing). I’m a little apprehensive about giving her a full-on bath. Does anyone have any suggestions for cleaning it up? Just water on a wash cloth? It isn’t really bad, you can just see some streaks where liquid was running down.

Me and my dad just got back from picking up the picture of all the kids (and my nephew) for my mom for mother’s day. It looks great. He got four extra prints, two for them each to take to work, and two for each of my grandparents, then one big one for the living room. After my parents go to sleep I have to go out to the car and get the prints and frames and put them all together. I really hope my mom likes them, they’re really nice, considering Alex didn’t want to get his picture taken and he just wanted to throw rocks into the water at where we went.

Well I’ve got a new job! The lady I got Apollo from sent me a text asking if I knew anybody who would be interested in coming to clean her rabbits out. She has a bad back and can no longer do it. It takes about 2 and a half hours, and she’ll pay $30.

Now, I used to work at a stables, where I had to be there for 7am, and I finished at 12. My boss would pay me $25. And working with horses, especially stallions, and younger horses (2-3 year olds) is HARD WORK. I’d be exhausted come the end of the day. So, I quit and took the bunny job! I’m going to take each bunny from the cage, place them in one of the exercise pens and just keep an eye on them whilst I clean the cage out. The mamas with baby’s will be fine without there babies just for 10 minutes, if anything, till be glad to have a break. The babies themselves will also be fine, they just keep each other warm in their nest tub, unless they’re big enough to go and have a run with mama!

I’m going to treat it like working at a rescue however, and strip and shower when I come home – No touching Apollo till I’m clean! Even though I know the lady takes brilliant care of the buns, I’m taking the precautions! So yeah, I think it was a good idea to take this job. It’s half the hours of my job at the stables, for $5 more! And anyway, who am I to turn down the chance of playing with baby bunnies?

I’ve just been watching Jersey and Rumball. They are snuggled side by side just inside the back door, taking in nature. Its still so sweet to see bonded rabbits together. I realised that May is the month they bonded 4 years ago. <3 <3

Jersey – Yeah, I didn’t want to touch it last night because I was afraid it would break open again. I will just try a wash cloth this morning to see if that works okay. She must have managed to rub it last night (despite her cone around her head) because it looks like a spot broke open and oozed out. Now there is this weird scab protruding from the top. If I pull it off, I will need to put styptic powder on it so it doesn’t bleed. *sigh* I was hoping it would look better today, not worse.

Woah I had no idea what to say to that. Because I’m skinny I can’t drink water? And even if I were drinking water it doesn’t mean I am trying to lose weight. I felt no need to explain myself or even tell her that I was actually drinking Sprite because I refused to feed her ignorance. *sigh* this is what I have to deal with ALL the time lol

That makes no sense. o.O I drink water all the time, (because soda gives me ulcers.) not because I want/need to lose weight (not that I even need to, lol.) Even if it was water, it’s still healthy to drink water over soda, due to all the sugar and yucky stuff in soda, it’s not healthy for even people who don’t need to lose weight. People are just odd.

Oh my gosh, guys! It’s been a week since the bunnies have gone. I am going CRAZY!! Literally. Last night I was going to just go sit in their new set up…Just because I missed them so much. lol I don’t know what I am going to do. They need to come home NOW! Not knowing when they will be home is the tough part, I think. I am hoping they can come home within the week…But bonding takes time and i don’t want to rush it.

I’ve even decided I am not going to the mountains this summer with my family because being away from them is too hard and I’d rather be here with them then in the mountains (I’ve been to the same place in the mountains since I was a child, so it’s pretty boring now anyway). If I could bring the bunnies up there I would but I can’t and wouldn’t think that would be the best idea anyways because of the elevation.

Anyway…Any tips on how to keep myself sane while they are away?? lol

I am just browsing through old pictures now. I found pictures of when my dog came to us. She came to us in 2008 as a stray. She was underweight and bloody ears…She had a few other problems. She was about 1 or 2 then…I can’t believe we’ve had her for so long. I wasn’t even supposed to keep her in the first place, but the rescue that I was in touch with couldn’t find a home for her so I just kept her. She is an amazing dog. I am not much of a dog person, but she is a great one.

The pet store where I got Sally from (the same store where I lost 2 other babies within 2 weeks) said they had a mini lop for sale that was ABOUT 7 weeks old. Which means it’s not even 7 weeks yet. It’s on their facebook page and I thought the legal age was 8 weeks in most states and 12 weeks in others.

Some of you might remember that we lost our gerbil Hazel a little while ago. Now her sister is sick. She had a stroke a week ago. I’ve been trying to nurse her along, syringe feeding her the last few days, but she seems to be declining further. I don’t think she’ll make it.

Simba got to meet our vet for the first time this weekend. Ugh, he’s scheduled for his annual with the rest of the brats in July even though he had an exam when we adopted him in Feb, we would prefer to just get them all on the same schedule. But nope, he had to meet her sooner. It started around Wednesday of last week – we noticed he wasn’t as excited about his food which worried me so we kept bugging him until he would eat something and I kind of scooted him around so he would keep moving in case it was gas. Well, the next day he was back to normal but when I picked him up he had ALLLL this nasty poo stuck to him. But it was dried on. It went into his anal glands so I assumed he hadn’t been cleaning his anal glands and the messy poo was his cecotropes. So we cleaned his glands and decided to get some clippers to clip his bum as I figured all that fur might be what was making it hard for him to get in there. So the next day we picked him up again to hang out with and his bum was EXACTLY the same way. Which worried me because I know you’re only supposed to clean anal glands about once a month and here the next day Simba was covered again. Of course, it was Saturday by this time so we had to schedule an emergency appointment with our vet an hour before they closed. We took him in and had him looked at. They gave him some sub-q fluids. (Which was horrible – it was my first time seeing one of my babies stuck with a needle! *tear*). They think his cecum stopped and then rebooted itself and was now pushing all the overdue cecotropes out. She said his cecum felt sore also. So she sent us home with some Metacam and told us to Critical Care him up if he seemed to not be interested in food again and to e-mail her if anything else came up. He’s been fine ever since he came home though. I think the sub-q fluids perked him up as he cleaned his own bum up and hasn’t had a problem since. He’s back to being more active and excited about food. It was the first time I’ve had something like that happen – so I was nervous for my boy!

So it seems… if I decide to continue with nursing I will have to wait another year to re-apply for the program because I wasn’t accepted. So I was re-evaluating my options all last night and I’m thinking of studying becoming a Paralegal instead…. Why does life have to be so complicated??

So we were at my in-laws for mother’s day. I guess this was 2 days ago now. LOL Anyway, they are leaving to go out of town soon. So they were sending home things that they had bought for the mother’s day get-together. My mother-in-law had gotten a big tube of organic spring mix. She asked if we wanted it. I said, sure but you know the rabbits are going to eat it right? She said that was okay. She didn’t mind the rabbits having a “treat”. Heh, yeah, a treat alright.

Tanlover, I wouldn’t give up on the Nursing program completely. My friend had to go through the LPN program and as soon as she graduated, she got accepted into the RN program. It is very common to not get in on the first try.

 

 

Today was my first day of externship at the medical clinic. I’m in Hematology / Oncology for the next five weeks. I didn’t do a whole lot today but I did learn how to do paperwork, file, etc. It is kind of nice to get off at dinner time

@Amy – Can you just ask to bring your 3 home now to finish the bonding in the new habitat? 

Did you end up coming up with a hidey area/shelf for the condo?  Maybe that’s a project that will keep you occupied in the meantime. That Rescue you posted about that was taking in all those Lionheads, is that near you?  Maybe you could go hang out with those buns! At least you wouldn’t have to worry about bringing home scent of other rabbits at the moment, with your own being away.

Has anyone dealt with addiction in a family? I called my mother a few weeks ago and I’m pretty sure she meant to hit the ignore button but instead answered it and lets just say I heard some things that wasn’t meant to be heard. I asked her about it and she swore up and down that she wasn’t. She even swore on my grandmothers (her moms) grave who passed away in October 2012.

How did y’all get them to admit they had a problem and to get help? I’m concerned for my mom. She is definitely hanging around the wrong people and she never calls anymore and it’s really hard to get into contact with her anymore. I try talking to her about the wedding but I can’t. I have had to resort to my in-laws to help me.

I don’t even know who she is anymore. My mind is going all over the place right now lol I have only pressed her the one time shortly after I overheard. Should I continue pressing her? Or do I just leave her alone? She snaps on me anytime I hint that she needs to get her health back she tells me that I need to stop trying to run everyone’s life and to stop being controlling.

I THOUGHT when I applied for the nursing program that my chemistry credit for high school was fine because it said Chemistry with a Lab and that’s what my high school chemistry was but apparently it didn’t fit the requirements. And even with the appeal process – I couldn’t fight it. Not even if I took it in the summer before classes began. So I was crap out of luck and they only offer the classes once a year so you HAVE to apply for the Fall semester each time. I feel so useless with life right now, I only work at Quiznos… and I’ve been applying to other jobs with very little luck. A few weeks ago, a lady I had applied with at the hospital system here had called me. I interviewed with them last year around this time and didn’t get the job (only because they thought I was too ambitious for the position – literally their words). She called me back to tell me they have a higher position opening and she would like me to apply and interview for it. So I’ve been waiting for them to send out the job listing and I emailed her back today because it’s been two weeks and it’s still not up on the site. She said she’s really excited to have me apply – and that it should be up in a week or two. She also said she had been thinking about me this morning and had planned on messaging me again – so I guess that’s good… but I’m trying not to get my hopes up. Still not sure. My boyfriend told me I should really look through all the different possibilities of what I want to do as a career before jumping into something again. Kind of like nursing. And making sure it’s what I really want – and not to just do it because I feel upset about currently doing nothing with my life, haha. Le Sigh. I know he’s right. So I’m going to give myself a few weeks to think about it before making any rash decisions.

Simba is out of the clear so no more vibes needed here! (Jerseygirl – she felt around his cecum and that area and he flinched when she pressed on it – I believe that is how she knew. We have had no problems cleaning him. He’s a really good bunny and usually sits very still while you handle him. The only thing he doesn’t like is when you touch his stomach – he’s so good about being touched everywhere else that I wonder if he has something to do with the hernia he had when they rescued him. He also has had no new veggies – although we got a huge box of cilantro so we had been feeding them a much bigger portion than they have been used to in the past. Could this have done it?) Unless you all want to send me some sanity vibes! Nora has me going INSANE. I tried having her out to play before my first cup of coffee today. Never again. She is such a ball of attitude. And she had peed ALL over her cage. Getting her disgusting smelling (hormonal) urine ALL over everything. And dragging her litter box through it. And all of her toys. Ugh, so gross. She grunts every time you put your hand in her cage and lunges – so I had to let her out and decided to just keep her out to play. She discovered a way out of the area and before I could catch her she was staring in at all the other bunnies through their x-pen. So then she made it her life work to try and escape. I wouldn’t let her near that side again and she wouldn’t stop. She was nipping and thumping and grunting at me trying to get past me. UGH. So much hormones!!!

NBO – I’m so sorry you have to go through that. Especially with trying to plan a wedding. I haven’t dealt with addiction per say – but my mom has been in an abusive relationship since I was about 3 years old. It’s really hard to deal with a parent who really believes there is nothing wrong and they are doing nothing wrong when in reality they are. It’s especially difficult as usually it feels they are ruining your relationship and it’s like they don’t even realize it or care. Personally, my mom has always had the same reaction regarding her abusive relationship as your mom does with her addiction. I’m not sure how long you have been trying to deal with this with her but I got to the point where her actions and responses were hurting me too much. It began to affect my entire life. And I made the decision to let her go. People in these situations can only get help if they want help and want to help themselves. As hard as it is to accept, it’s usually the truth. I would step back and let her make the decisions to contact you – so you don’t have to stress over it all the time and let it affect your life also.

It is a shame – BUT at the same time it motivates me more to figure my life out. I try hard not to let these little things get me down and use them to help me push forward more!

Which I forgot to say good luck and thank you, ChaCha! I guess it’s a matter of whether or not I’m willing to wait – which I haven’t decided yet. I will see how things go in the next few weeks – to a month to make a decision really.

That’s true, definitely a good way to look at it! I was sure that I wouldnt get into University this September, mainly because I didnt think I had the intelligence to get the grades they wanted. But now that I am in and have been working for 4 months in one of the best trauma hospitals in Europe, I couldn’t be happier. Tired, but happy You will get there if its what you want to do, and as you said now you have some more time to make extra sure it’s for you

That what I was afraid of. She has no motive to want help and how could she? She has surrounded herself with friends who all are struggling with addiction. I have no idea how long she has been battling with it. Since I know better and aren’t so naive anymore I’d think its been going on my entire childhood. I always remember her saying she was sick and in pain which was why she had to take so many pills. Now that I’m older and know better I’m starting to think all of it was a lie.

I have naturally started distancing myself from her the past 5 years. It’s like I knew she had issues but never accepted it. I’m not so naive anymore and don’t believe her excuses. Thanks for the wake up call Tanlover. I have let her know that I know she has a problem. Now if she wants help, she knows she can come to me. What else can I do? I’ve offered help and she refused. At least she knows that there IS a door if she wants it.

Tanlover – If you decide nursing is what you really want to do, then wait until next year to reapply. In the meantime, talk to the school and find out what all your deficiencies are. Is it just chemistry? Or is there more? My next question for you is, is this a community college? A lot of times you can attend classes without declaring yourself as a student yet. So you could spend the time between now and next fall taking the class(es) you need so you can get into the program. I have seen this happen to other people and a lot of times people with take gen ed classes while they wait to get in. This is particularly true for radiology at my local community college. There is a lot of demand and people have to wait anyway simply because there aren’t enough spots in the program. But I don’t see how your situation needs to be any different. You can take a chemistry class and maybe even some other gen eds they might require (math?).

NBO – Gosh, I don’t know what to say. I think Tanlover is right though. All you can do is let her know that you know and then leave the door open for if/when she actually wants help. The only other thing you could maybe do is call one of those support hotlines. Otherwise, it is very difficult to get someone the help they need if they do not want the help.

 @movediagonally Wow! Thats a total colour change, do you know what caused it? Buttons’ coat is also changing, she used to look exactly like a frosted point and now shes shedding her baby coat for the summer shes going darker on her bum! 

Its actually quite a difference although I didnt quite capture it (Buttons is a bit of a fidget and it was very bright out this morning!)

@tanlover14 Don’t worry too much! There’s always next year. I think everything happens for a reason! I couldn’t get accepted to study vetenary science a few years ago because my grades werent good enough to enter the right courses at college (although i could’ve been accepted to another one which would’ve gotten me into uni but they neglected to tell me that grrr) so I went into hairdressing (slightly different direction!) and I LOVE IT! I’ve never looked back and I actually developed an allergy to dogs too so its just as well I didnt study vet science anyway! I’m pretty sure you’ll get accepted next year and if not you may end up doing something you love anyway, even if it is unexpected!

Thanks you guys. I told her I knew and she let out lots of lies and excuses. She even had the nerve to say she wasn’t taking them, only selling them… I don’t know how that makes it any better. I do know that even though all her children are fully grown and capable of taking care of ourselves, her actions can and will affect us. Especially my older brother. He is wanting to join the police academy when he is done with the military and I know the police academy does an extensive background check of you AND people you associate with ie:family and if they learn that his mother got put in jail or arrested for selling pills it is an automatic out for him. I let her know that. Not to mention if she is actually selling then she will be taking the responsibility of allowing someone to OD and ruin their lives. Sure they will do it anyways, but does she really want that on HER hands? I told her all this but she does know I know and that if she wants help, I’m here. But until then I am keeping my distance. She is playing Russian roulette and I am preparing myself for the worse. She still keeps denying it but what am I to do? I’ve given her the door but for now, she refuses to open it.

How am I taking it? Idk I think I am numb about it all. I have hardened myself all the years of her crying begging for forgiveness saying she was going to change or fix it (From abuse) so idk. I’m actually relieved that I now know the truth…if that makes sense. Saying goodbye is going to be a lot easier now that I have figured out the puzzle.

NBO123 – I’m sorry about your mother but I’m glad that you’re not in pieces over it.

Unfortunately I’ve had to deal with quite a few addicts in my family. Some have turned their life around but honestly the majority of them have not or have relapsed. Every addict I know is a liar when they’re drinking/using. They lie to their families, friends, and to themselves. What I do is support them when they take proactive steps to change (treatment, etc) and distance myself when they’re using and hellbent on self destruction. It’s all you can do really.

Anyway, my thoughts are with you and your family.

I don’t know what it is about my coworkers but they sure feel the need to comment on my appearance all the time. We all got our picture taken and I said I didn’t want it, but it was mandatory, and I walked into the breakroom and two of my coworkers were looking at my picture and they turn to me and say, “You have really high hips! maybe you should pull your pants up some so your hip bone isn’t 5 extra inches above the waist line…” Um… what on earth!
First, they really need to just leave me alone. I have never worked with so many outspoken people in my life. Everyday they have something to tell me, and I don’t understand why. I’m self conscious as it is!
Second, I have a short torso, sue me. If I wore my pants all the way up to my waist line not only would I be sportin’ a camel toe, but it would give me an extremely bad wedgy and I would look like I was wearing high water pants because my legs are too long. AND I would look like Steve Urkel because the top of my hip bone isn’t even an inch away from the last rib… It’s just not possible lol
I need to find a new job. I have never had such an issue with people commenting on my appearance in my life as much as I have here. I don’t know if it’s just good ol’ North Eastern RUDE people because down in Texas no one has ever felt the need to talk, at least to my face, about my appearance as much as I face it here. Every stinkin’ day I get something I swear. I don’t want to stoop to their level and make remarks back. All I can do is say, “Well, that’s rude.”

phew I needed a good venting there before my next shift lol First they tell me to eat a cheeseburger… or two. Then they look at me funny for drinking a water instead of soda, and now I have “high hips” These people need a new hobby instead of critiquing other people. They need to critique their behavior and realize just how rude they sound lol

NBO – Wow, sounds like one of those TV shows with women who have nothing better to do than gossip and call people out on whatever they feel like. I’m sorry you have to deal with that. I am self conscious too, but I haven’t had to deal with too much lately. At my one job, it seems nobody really cares what anyone looks like (we’re all dirty and sweaty anyway). At my other job, people will compliment me on my clothing sometimes but no one really says much else. For quite awhile though, I was having problems with customers saying things. That was really upsetting, but nothing has really happened for some time.

Customer: How are your feeling?
Me: (puzzled) Um, I’m fine.
Customer: I meant how are you feeling besides being round.
Me: (even more puzzled) Round? (screaming in my head ROUND?!)

I guess that was an innocent example. Turns out the customer thought I was pregnant. I am extremely self conscious of my pooch though, so it made me feel really bad. Stuff like that would happen quite often. Less often though, I have had people purposefully insult me. Calling me names because they were angry about something.

Oh yes customers here are very bad at it too. But I only have to look at them for a few minutes and never seem them again so it doesn’t bother me as much But I have to see my coworkers everyday and I feel as though they should know better than to do that. Especially since they are adults. 25+ The lady who commented on my awkward hips was over 50

that situation you were in sounds quite awkward for both him and you. I bet he felt rather silly and won’t do it again to anyone! He shouldn’t use the term “round” for a pregnant lady anyways! Hmph they can be quite sensitive! If people sat there for a second and THOUGHT before saying something they can spare a lot of embarrassment on their part and feelings of the person on the receiving end *le sigh*

Yes, some people just have nothing better to do. They don’t feel good about themselves without stirring the pot, so to speak. I hate people like that. I know how that feels, so I’m sorry you’re having to deal with that. Pretty sad if the one lady is over 50 though. Sounds like she needs to grow up already.

As for that customer, I don’t think she meant any harm. But even if I was pregnant, why would someone say that? The fact that I wasn’t though made me feel really bad because then I’m thinking to myself about how I must look. It is rude either way. I mean, why would you ask someone you don’t know if they are pregnant or not anyway? Sometimes it is a very delicate subject and if the person is not, then it is embarrassing for both parties.

NBO – I went to counseling to deal with my feelings with my mom and my relationship which has been horrible with her since I decided she was ruining her kids lives…. it has been so peaceful to finally understand that despite being in an abusive relationships she still has choices that she has and continues to make. Such as lying and hurting us. It’s easier to let go. Although I would also most likely be there for her if she decided she needed help. It’s painful to watch someone go through these kinds of things – especially a mother. But you have to think of yourself first. I spent too much time in my life worrying about her and crying/being upset and letting it affect my life because you almost feel like you’re not doing enough to help….when really that is not the case at all. My thoughts are also with you, NBO. <3 <3

Oh god, I was up all night with Simba. He wouldn’t eat anything. I had to get him to eat SOMETHING every two hours to keep him going until I could get him to the vet this morning. He got some Sub-Q fluids and is all perky again but he would’ve gone 24 hours if I wasn’t forcing food into his face. It’s so hard. I finally got him to eat some pumpkin and that seemed to have gotten him goign a little. And offered him a HUGE salad bar that I made with a bunch of veggies i picked up at the store to hopefully get him eating… He would only take small munches but when it that situation, I feel like you take what you can get. Now I’m utterly exhausted and I have to go to work. Ugh. Vibes for my Simba! Even though he’s been doing much better since he got the fluids. Hope it lasts though as last time it only lasted a few days before he fell into not eating again (which was last week.). Ugh.

LBJ I know what you mean (about the pregnancy comment). About 2 weeks ago I had my mother come home from work to tell me the ‘amusing tale’ of the lady who came into her work and congratulated her that her daughter was expecting… when she said that her daughter wasn’t pregnant – just a bit ’round’ the lady apologised profusely. The stupid thing my mother did was to come home and tell me (her only daughter) about this funny lady’s comments and wondered why I was upset and annoyed. Great one mother – tell your depressed daughter that she’s fat enough to be mistaken as pregnant!

 LOL!!! I just had a conversation with a petco live chat assistant discussing their rabbit cages. The conversation went something along the lines of:

Petco: Hi! I’m a live chat assistant.

Me: Okay, do you have any rabbit cages that are big enough? All the rabbit cages at pet stores are way too small for a real bunny.

Me: The first one is fairly big, but on the first level, there is nothing preventing a bunny from digging out. The second one is way too small. May I make a suggetsion?

Me: Please consider changing from a traditional indoor cage to a kit made out of NIC grids. It would be cheaper, easier to fit into the space you have available, and big enough. The House Rabbit Society reccomends that each enclosure be at least 8 square feet per rabbit. If you would like, I can provide some links to NIC cubes.

The bunnies are still not home. I am so sad without them here. It’s so not the same….Despite them being gone I was still able to go out last night and have some fun. I went on my first date in a loooong time. lol I’ve never had much lucky in dating but this guy seems pretty cool. He’s really nice. I might see him again tonight if he doesn’t work. It was a pretty awesome night last night. =) I just miss my bunnies so much.

The bunnies are doing well. The other day the boys mutually groomed each other! But then Rascal started nipping and Marley nipped back, but she said that it was because she made them be together for too long. It was just nice to hear that they actually groomed each other!! I am hoping to get them home soon. I miss them so much!

That sucks LBJ, I know what its like to go just half a day without a loo and that was bad enough. I have been checking out little chemical and pressure flush camping toilets for emergencies. They are small and portable and could be handy if you have old dodgy pipe like mine. There is a great one for under $50 that uses water from a small inbuilt tank and it also composts. Colleen – Hah! I don’t think the rabbits would appreciate that very much. No, I have mostly been going to McDonald’s. They think I’m so weird by now, I’m sure. I have to pee right before I go to bed though, so I find myself going in there late in the evening. There is this really creepy guy that is always there. He is always sitting back by the bathrooms with his computer. I guess he’s making use of their free wi-fi. Anyway, he’s always staring at me when I go in there.

Roberta – We actually had one of those camping potties. But I guess it went bye-bye with one of the garage sales. I don’t think I would be able to get one before I wouldn’t need it anymore. What was supposed to be “two days, tops” has turned into 4. My husband was supposed to have all the new pipes put in by Friday morning so we could pour the concrete. That so did not happen! Well, the concrete place isn’t open on the weekends so the soonest will be Monday, which means not toilet until Tuesday night (concrete has to cure).

Last night was eventful. Around midnight there was a loud POP and a bright white flash of light through our window. I get up to look out and the neighbors driveway is lit up with orange electrical fire and I hear a very LOUD buzzing of electric current. A cable fell down into their yard, knocked the power out in town until 4:30am. Police came out and everything to make sure no one got electrocuted by the downed cable until it could get repaired.

LBJ, commiserations! The whole weekend?!!! Can you take the bun boys and move into your in laws for the weekend?

Well the buns are fine. They have a litter box. LOL

We could go there, nobody is home. But I sort of need to hang around in case my husband needs me to hold something for him. Their house is fairly far away. It is on the opposite side of town and then out in the country. If they knew we had the rabbits out there, they would probably have a heart attack. They don’t like animals in their house. My mother-in-law was really upset when my husband’s brother brought their two dogs over. They kept peeing on the carpet.

Rabbits and cavies make excellent 4-H project animals due to their reduced space requirements, ease of care and management, their ability to be litter-box trained, and their size; they are ideal urban pets.

And today has been a very bad day. Well, work wasn’t terrible I guess. But I got home and found myself shoveling gravel. I was about ready to cry. Then my husband said we could go to Dairy Queen as a “reward”. Yeah, I needed a reward alright. Well we were driving back and the fuse for my turn signal (?) blew and you could smell it burning up. It is dark out so my husband said he couldn’t do anything tonight. I have to get a ride to work tomorrow though because he said my car might catch fire. =\

So I had a panic attack last night. I was laying in bed thinking about the wedding and started freaking out. I hate being the center of attention. I realized I can’t do this. I was wanting a tiny wedding, very intimate just immediate family and a few close friends but the other day when I was talking to my in-law she was talking about all these people attending from her family. There are going to be close to a 100 people there! And I am only going to know like the 15 people that I invited. And only MAYBE 10 will be able to come. I am going to be a stranger at my own wedding! Which isn’t good for someone who suffers an anxiety problem!
I am only going to have only 3 family members and my husband is going to have 75+ people..
You guys please help me. I want to cancel it all together or postpone this wedding. We have already postponed it last year and now I am panicking again..badly!
When I go through a panic I want to withdrawal from everyone and crawl into a hole. I immediately want to disappear from the Earth. I want to delete my facebook, lock my phone so no one can talk to me…especially about the wedding… and I even don’t want to even go back to texas to go visit my family and friends! I just want to not exist in my previous life! I don’t want to face anyone!
I am starting to panic again just thinking about this wedding. I am getting highly frustrated. My husband was the one who wanted this wedding so bad but when I ask him to help plan he won’t! I am left with decisions that I don’t even nor have I ever wanted to make! I have never, ever dreamt of a wedding as a little girl.
What I want now is just the reception. Have a bar b que and a pool party thing saying, “Hey we’re married! Happy 2 year anniversary!” type thing. I can face that. But I CANNOT have the wedding. I can’t walk down the aisle and have 75+ I don’t know and watching me and judging me too because they have never met me. I’m seeing my wedding as judgement day because I don’t even know these people. I am so uncomfortable with all of this. I don’t want to end up leaving my husband at the alter because I start panicking. I just don’t want a wedding!
Is it too late to call off the wedding? I think she already made reservations at this venue. And how do I go about telling people we are postponing the wedding without them thinking I am having marital issues? Some people don’t even know we are married yet and only think we are engaged. We have a perfect relationship but I dont want people thinking we have any issues for calling off the wedding. Most importantly, my mother-in-law doesn’t know about my TERRIBLE anxiety disorder and I’d rather not tell her that’s why I am calling it off because she will think I was a looney. Please, I am freaking out right now. I am just not the type of person to have a wedding.

NBO, the best thing I can say to do is talk to your husband and explain how you’re feeling the way he explained it to us. Ask if it would be possible to invite only a small number of people to the actual wedding and then open the reception up to everyone else on the invite list as a compromise. If you or your husband explain why you don’t want the big wedding to your mother-in-law, she should respect that and how you’re feeling if she loves you (not that she doesn’t love you, that probably wasn’t the right thing to say, ugh). I know Ryan is freakin’ out about our wedding Friday because he also hates being the center of attention, and can’t stand having people look at him. We are having a short ceremony, and I told him all he has to do is focus on me, don’t pay attention to anyone else. Heck, I know most of the people invited and I’m still extremely nervous about walking down the aisle in front of 100+ people. Just honestly talk to you husband about this, he should support you. You can always send out wedding announcements and just have the reception too, for the people invited and not have a ceremony, because you’re already married as well.

I am actually more calmed down now after talking it through with my husband. I am still having heart palpitations when I start thinking about it. But I think I CAN do this. He says we will only have around 80 people (including mine and his invitations) before it was 75+ people before even including My husbands and my people that we wanted to invite. I am feeling a lot better about that. We are sending out our invitations that WE wanted to invite. Which is only totaling about 20-25 people. And my in-law is just going to tell her family via the phone when to come. I cannot look at the list because I will freak out. I’m just glad he talked to his mom and told her that the number needs get cut to below 100 INCLUDING our guests.

The wedding is going to be on July 13th, 2013. Our marriage anniversary is actually July 16th, 2011 so we kept it as close as possible for the wedding. I think I can handle 80 people total. And I can just think that the next day I will be leaving for the Bahamas the following morning for the honeymoon.

I have terrible anxiety. it’s really really bad so I am hoping that I can control myself when the time comes to walk down the aisle. I am still terrified I am going to run away or just plain out faint from the stress.

Last night when I had my panic attack I was crying and shaking and I felt so dizzy…just thinking about it I can only imagine what it will be like the day of the wedding. Not to mention it’s an evening wedding to avoid the heat so I will have ALL day of the wedding to be freaking out what’s to come and lose control.
It’s not that I am afraid of marrying my husband, as we are already married, but I just really do not like crowds lol

I hope you’re able to meet this bun. Even if you aren’t feeling a connection, meeting it will help you decide if you’re ready to have one now or not.

At NBO, it good you’ve been able to nut this out and are feeling better about things. Definitely keep communication about it open with the hubby. While he may have wanted this wedding, I’m sure he doesn’t want it to be a horrible experience for you!

So tired. So so tired. Wow, I can’t keep doing all this physical labor each day.
Today was a weird day. I mean really weird. A gal came in right as I was getting ready to lock up and asked if we take squirrels. I did not want to tell her what would happen to the squirrel if she left it there. =( So I called the local wildlife rescue for her. Problem was, the little squirrel was snuggled under her sweater. She said she has been raising it for the past month and it seemed very attached to her. I’m not sure if it would do well in the wild.
Then I came home and there was a huge pile of mail on the table. I saw one from the credit union. It was super thick. I opened it up and it had my loan contract enclosed with “paid” stamped on it. The title to my collateral was enclosed as well. Odd considering I still had a ton of money remaining on the loan.

NBO – I’m sure everything will work out fine. I’m glad you were able to talk to your husband about it.

So I hope Cadbury is friendly and makes Hubby fall in love with him by being sweet! Keep your fingers crossed!

WHOO-HOO – possible bunny, Hazel? Exciting! Even if it’s not the one you are looking for, like Jersey said – it will give you a good chance to decide if this is the right decision or not. If your hubby decides this bunny isn’t for him – you really should consider the Bunderground Railroad. There are so many rabbit lovers out there willing to help a bunny get to a new loving home. I’ve learned how to check if they are a boy or girl or not. On a bun that young, it may be harder though!

NBO – you will be fine! Keep telling yourself that. When you tell yourself something different is when you will begin panicking. You CAN do this! I’m so happy your husband is understanding though. With his love and encouragement I think you will surprise yourself at how well you do!

FANTASTIC NEWS! The rescue agreed to spay Nora in beginning June instead of mid-June. Thank GOODNESS. This girl is driving everyone in the house insane with her hormonal behaviors and antics. She also looks miserable as she is always grunting and growling. So I think it will be better for her mentally also. I am worried (don’t we all get worried?) but the vet doing the spay is VERY well known, has loads of experience, and is the only other vet in the area highly recommended by my vet. Good thoughts!

TL oh my goodness! Poor Nora! I remember how much of a beast Skipper was before her spay. I’m glad that Nora’s has been moved up. =]

Speaking of new bunssss. We took Hugo into the vet yesterday for his hocks to be looked at. I noticed a blood smear on the carpet the other day. And one of his sore hocks had been scraped open. We took him in yesterday to have Dr. B take a look at it. Thankfully it’s healing well without infection. But she mentioned that there is a cute brown bun that is going to be up for adoption soon. He’s a special needs bun and is going to be a tripod. Dr. B is amputating his leg today since it’s just too broken to set right. I’m really tempted to beg the bf to get this little guy but I don’t think we’d be the best fit for him. He seems like he would need more of a one-on-one relationship with his fam instead of sharing it with other buns.

I have seen the women from the rescue (Rabbit Wranglers) give lots of attention to many disabled buns. The co-owner, Alyssa, has two disabled buns who have no use of their hind legs. She adopted them as well as has her other buns and let me tell you! You would be shocked at how well they get around. They also have built a great relationship with her and she is one BUSY lady! Haahaha. You could also try fostering him for awhile to see if you could give him the attention and love he needs!

Aw thanks TL. =] I don’t know. I’ve alway had a place in my heart for damaged people/animals. Mainly because I had a hard childhood that left me semi messed up. So I want to give others who are different the love and attention they need. Which is why I think that the little bun is tugging at my heart strings. It’s sad but as much as I love my other buns, I love Ian so much more. In human terms when we first got him, he would be the kindergartner who likes to take his shoes off and throw them across the room at the other kids for attention. And now his behavioral problems are pretty much gone. =] I may just see if we could foster-to-adopt the little guy like you suggest. The thought didn’t really cross my mind honestly.

NBO- I just wanted to say good luck at your wedding! And I’m sorry about you mother also My dad used to be an abusive alcoholic. We lived in the same house but I did everything I could to avoid him. He became violent at times and it affected me greatly all through high school. After I moved out, I think he realized how much his problem affected me and that he was the reason I wanted to get away so badly. I went school out of town to get away. Anyway, he still drinks and gets drunk but not nearly as much as he used to. We have a pretty good relationship now because I’m not afraid to go home anymore. Another thing that played a big role in our stressed relationship was a condition I have called Misophonia… which we just found out about in the last couple years.

My whole family thought I was crazy because certain sounds would cause me to get very upset. There are so many people who have it a lot worse and I can’t imagine how they get through a day. Anyway, I think Misophonia is a type of anxiety issue but instead of causing me to panic I get very angry. It has an effect on my relationship with people, I have trouble taking tests if people are chewing gum, and I have to sit in the back row at movies. My trigger noises are chewing, clicking pens, and sometimes even repetitive motion. Triggers cause a “Fight or flight” response and I often leave the room or hide in a bathroom if possible. I can ask my family to stop what they are doing and sometimes they will stop. My mom likes sunflower seeds and my dad has to chew gum (which he pops) because it keeps him from wanting to chew tabbacco again. Growing up, I was very hard on my brother because I now know that his voice was another trigger… I try to just deal with these things but its very hard considering I want to rip my hair out.

The funniest part about the whole situation is that all my life I have wanted to teach art. I just graduated and I have a job at an elementary school waiting for me. Everyone asks why I would want to teach when I can’t deal with people chewing ect, but the fact is you can’t let something like Misophonia or anxiety keep you from doing something you really want to do. I know you love your husband and that you want to have this wedding, so just focus on that when you are walking down the isle and remember that they are all routing for you They wouldn’t be there if they weren’t <3

P.S. Pretty sure that my “fight or flight” response helps me relate to my bunny, but she chooses to fight She needs to learn from momma and deal with her issues

The bf and I had our five year anniversary last week. We decided to go down to Disney for it. I’m a massive Disney and Beauty and the Beast fan. As a treat we went to go eat in Hallow Bastion for lunch at the Be Our Guest resturaunt. It was amazing.

For christmas we went to Disney World. We left around Jan. 19. I bet we ran into yuo somewhere and didn’t realize it. We got to eat at Cinderella’s castle. My 7 year old neice was terrified of cinderella when we had oru picure taken with her! You should’ve seen her face.

We’re back from the shelter. Sadly things didn’t work out. When we got there they told us that he wasn’t there anymore. I thought “Wow, he sure got adopted quickly…” but then they explained that he turned out to be a wild rabbit that someone had probably found in the woods. They said he was very aggressive. So now he’s with a wildlife rescue and will be released at some point. I guess I should have seen this coming…

tanlover: I did look at the Bunderground Railroad website. They state on there that they don’t transport single rabbits for the general public, only large numbers of rabbits from shelter to shelter, or rabbits that are in danger of being put to sleep. So I’m not sure if they would help us out?

Skipper’s Mama: You should definately think about adopting that poor bun. I’m sure he’ll be quite traumatized after losing his leg, being with other buns might just be what he needs to motivate him.

At first I thought someone had made a terrible mistake at the bank. Someone came in to pay off their loan and it went to the wrong account. They were closed by the time I got home so I couldn’t call them. Then I had this idea to call my dad. I asked him if he knew anything about it and he said yes. He thought I needed the money (the payment was $130 each month), so he decided to pay it off for me. He did not have to do that and I told him so. He said he wanted to though. He knew I had been struggling, especially since I have been lacking adequate employment.

Skipper’s Mama – I say go for it. If you have the money/room/time/love to give, then why not? I like the foster-to-adopt idea. That way you can see how things would go before making a full commitment. I wouldn’t worry about the other buns. If he can be bonded to them, they might be able to help him out. Although 3 legged animals can usually get around almost as good as 4 legged animals.

Tanlover & Hazel, the Bunderground Railroad is just for getting shelter rabbits and rescue rabbits from one safe place to another so yes, they don’t transport single rabbits for the general public.

I used to help them out and have done a transport for them – it’s been a very long time though – there doesn’t seem to be many rabbits going my way any longer. I did a transport for some rabbits that needed help after Hurricane Katrina to California (I think that’s where they ended up – at least some of them – a few were adopted along the way by transporters).

I always volunteer though if needed but it’s been a long time.

I have very happy bunnies tonight…The hay mite crisis is over and they have their favourite bagged oaten blend hay again. They ate the baled hay but there was not much enthusiasm. Pascal just made a hole in the middle and sat there munching.

I am struggling about making the right decision for Bear. I met a family a few days ago through my husband. They are a military family. His wife is a stay at home mom to their two children and they live on 5 acres of land with their two Saint Bernards. They basically want Pooh Bear. I didn’t even think much about it. They are the ones who are going to dog sit for us when we go on our 3 week trip to Texas.

Now they have me thinking. I live in a TINY house. Like all Bear does now is lay on his bed because he finds himself stuck or in the way because our house is so small. We don’t have a yard anymore, no children. And my husband and I both work. I am letting this amazing dog go to waste. He could be running around on 5 acres of land right now playing with dogs and children. He LOVES children!

I know I take proper care of him, he has a good home when it comes to shelter and food and vet care…but he doesn’t have much else. He even looks depressed. I am starting to think that maybe this family will be good for Bear. I just know he will be so much happier there. He will get to run around outside all the time and have little kids playing with him all the time. he will have dogs his size that won’t cower in fear when he attempts to play. (Abbie gets nervous when Bear tries playing with her)

Would I be a bad pet parent for getting rid of one of my dogs? Or would I be doing the right thing by giving Bear the better home. I don’t want to be selfish. They really are a great family. And I think they can make Bear happier than I can at the moment. I regret getting this house now seeing how in the dumps Bear acts sometimes.

She never seems to miss him when we take her to TX with us for a few weeks but when we come home and she sees Bear she starts crying out of excitement and greets him for like 10 minutes straight. NBO: I guess it depends on how attached Bear is to you. Is his devotion and love for you overshadowed by his need for play/room/other dogs? If he goes there and is just as depressed, if not more, only for different reasons (missing you), then he wouldn’t be better off. If you think he’ll get over being away from you and bounce back, then it might be something worth looking into. You’re a great owner to consider this, I don’t know if I could be that selfless.

Gosh tomorrow evening after work I will be taking the buns to our friends apartment! I am SO nervous! They will be watching them until Wednesday night. And on Sunday pooh Bear is going to be going to meet his new family! They are going to do a “trial run” I guess they are calling it to see how well he meshes with Bear. They were already going to dog sit in the first place but since I agreed now they are going to actually test to see if he will fit right in with their family. I sure hope things go well for Bear. He deserves so much more.
I have been thinking all day about rehoming Bear and I think I am making the right decision for him. If you guys even knew how small our house was you would understand. He really is depressed and with this family I can still see him if I want because they are friends with my husband. Of course, I won’t be all annoying and in their face but I asked if I could stop once or twice a year to see how he was and inbetween visits to keep me updated with pictures I really feel as though I am doing the right thing.
I just really hope Abbie, my little bitty dog, forgives me for it and won’t miss Bear too much. They hardly interact with one another anyways but I know she will realize a lack of Bear’s presence.

 You guys sound like you all have rough days everyday. A breakthrough- Dad decided he wanted to help me build a rabbit cage! Mom is already aboard the rabbit train. The only problem is that dad wants a 1’x3′ cage, while I want a 4’x4′ cage. When I showed him my design, he said, “Why is it so big? Are you planning on going inside the cage?” and I was like “Yep!  ”, and we kept on staring at each other for a while.

NBO – I guess it all really depends on Bear and how attached he is to you. My dog has severe separation anxiety, so I couldn’t imagine doing something like that to her. If Bear is easy going and doesn’t mind change though, it all could work out. Don’t beat yourself up about it. You are just trying to do what is right for him. Since they are dog sitting anyway, it will be good for them to see how he interacts with their family before making any commitments.

Just wanted to say how sweet my little buns were being today. They really do seem to love each other. I went to check on them and they were cuddling together. It was so cute! Wooly had his head down and Leopold was using his head as a pillow. Wish I had gotten a picture. It was just precious.
In other news, I am having some difficulty with this whole loan being paid off thing. My dad paid it off for me as a surprise, I had no prior knowledge of it. My mom had to make a point today that it was her siding money (to put new siding on the house). Now my husband is mad because he feels my mom is going to try holding this over our heads. I am annoyed too, but I am sort of used to her behavior. She likes to stir the pot, if you know what I mean. It doesn’t put me in a very good position.

Bear is actually really independent. He isn’t a personable dog. When we take him out to friends houses or friends come to our house he treats everyone the EXACT same lol So I think the transition will be very easy for him. He is probably one of the best dogs I have ever had though. He deserves more. So I really think I am doing the right thing.

Abbie is very personable. So personable that I have to take her to Texas with me every year and pay a 75 plane fare for her to ride in the cabin with me lol I can’t even have a dog sitter watch her because she is THAT bad. I remember once when I had my mom watch her a week and Abbie completely stopped eating. Mom even tried getting her to play fetch (she HAS to chase the ball. Even if she is sleeping if you throw the ball she snaps awake and chases it! lol) but Abbie didn’t even play fetch. I had to come home early to get her because she literally just sulked thinking I had abandoned her!

Balmy peaceful Autumn day here, the Long Eared Pigmy Wilderbeest are asleep (Pascal has been initiated and decided to become a fellow Wilderbeest after this mornings Xpen escape, spay is only a week away then he can stampede with them and I won’t have to worry he will try to hump the cats) Twinkletoes is still plugging on, had her final shot at the vet and I asked about further treatment. Jo the vet said as long as she is eating and happy to leave her be. At 24 she is an old lady pussy cat and best to be allowed to decline gracefully. Twinkers is currently soaking up the sunbeams in the back room with me. Finn Gall aka Yowlie McShoutyMouth is still protesting his confinement and though he has liberated himself from the cone of shame is still confined inside until the stitches come out next week. This Morning I let the second eldest cat out for a short spell in the garden, Bilbo ran round the back hopped up on the BBQ and taunted Finn through the sunroom window. Finn has been Yowlie McShoutyMouth ever since. “Meowu-arrrrmmm, Billy’s in the garden, why can’t I go in the garden, Meowu-arrrrmmm, I want to go to the garden… Meowu-arrrrmmmm I want to go out, Bilbo is out, Meowu-arrrrmmmm……”

YAY!!! Dad and I went to Home Depot, where they had free hot dogs! Then we went to petsmart and petco, where they had the rabbit cages. And at petco, they had ferrets. Most of them looked like they were “sleeping”. LOL! Then one poked it’s nose through the cage bars. Dad pet the ferret on it’s nose and got bit.

Somehow I ended up with a hibiscus plant. No clue where to plant it. I was looking at trees today and the tree I thought we might get has a nest in it. Yes, at the nursery. I stood up on the pallet the tree pots were sitting on to look in the nest (it was that low to the ground) and there were two baby birds in it. My husband doesn’t come home until late tonight. I want him to ask them if we can buy the tree and then leave it there until the babies fly away. =p

Every time I have gone out there over the last few days, she was nowhere to be found. I put food out and left each time. Well we were out there today and we needed to hurry since it was going to storm again (it already rained 3 inches this morning). As we were leaving, she suddenly appeared outside by the corn crib. She meowed and trotted up to us. She wanted food, so I put some out. Then I noticed she has an injury on her foot. The skin was actually peeled back and you could see it was deep. She must have gotten her foot caught in something. My husband said we needed to go. We probably wouldn’t have been able to catch her anyway (nothing to put her in since we brought the carrier home). I have to work for the next three days, so I don’t know if I will be able to get her and take her to the vet. Do you think she will be okay until Friday?

Well I managed to swing by there tonight. She was hungry, so I distracted her with food and then managed to get a glob of Neosporin in the wound. She flinched and then moved away from me. I don’t know what to do. His parents would have a heart attack if I took her to the emergency vet. I have to work tomorrow and the next day still and the vet is long closed by the time I would be able to get there.

LBJ: I think you should take her, if you can. Sounds like she really needs medical attention, the sooner the better. Why wouldn’t his parents want you to take her to the vet? Good job getting the Neosporin on her.

I just talked to my mother-in-law. She wants us to wait until they get home. The cat isn’t “their” cat. It is a cat that just showed up at their acreage. It has been there for months and I was trying to get this cat rescue to take it but they wanted the cat to be fixed first and then they had a waiting list. My in-laws said they would look into having the cat fixed and then they never did.

*phew* it has been an exhausting few days! We went out in the wilderness and camped out. So not only were I away from my buns, but i had NO reception just in case something were to go wrong! But today we decided to leave a day early and I called the bun sitters and she said they were IN LOVE with my buns and sent me a picture of them cuddling. I’m glad everything worked out perfect!

Oh, and Bear LOVES his new home. The family are going to throw him a 8th Birthday Party in December for him and she said to bring my husband and my dog to come visit! We are also going over there tomorrow so Abbie can pay him a visit because she was looking all over for him earlier today.

If it’s not their cat, why do they want you to wait? They should be happy that you’re offering to help.

I’m with the others LBJ. Take the cat to a vet, you never know if you explain the cirmumstances the vet may be willing to help with the desexing and getting the pussycat into a rescue sooner.

Also if you can get a photo of the cat. I know of several cats that have been missing long term whose owner have not given up hope. The little one may be microchipped and have a loving home waiting. I would be happy to submit the pics to the stray cat alliance and other groups on Facebook that help with this sort of thing.

Well offering to help, but I really need them to pay for the vet visit. That is money being taken away from my own animals. My husband talked to her some more after I did. They are coming home sooner than they expected and she thinks the cat will be ok until then. She wants to have the cat fixed and she thinks it should all be done at once. While this would be ideal, I do worry the wound will become infected. At least I managed to get the Neosporin on it.

Roberta – We are pretty sure the cat was purposefully dumped. This is way out in the country and the area is notorious for people dumping unwanted animals. You see, the Humane Society is on that side of town and if you drive on that same road several miles outside of town, then you get to where they are at. People thinking of taking the animal to the Humane Society, for whatever reason, will just keep driving and that is the most logical route to take out into the country.

Hi LBJ, Maybe some photo’s then… Just in case he is one of these kittehs who has been lost in transit or stolen and dumped by a third party (it happens) then we can just put it out there with general location nearest primary road (no specific address) You just never know.
My neighbours young cats were taken and dumped in the country, if the lady who rescued them (a complete stranger to me at the time)had not posted a pic via a yahoo group on a random day and I had not decided to take a long shot and look at her post they would never have been reunited.

Lily’s food went up from $30 to $40 a case. Ridiculous. Then the girl at the store gets an attitude because we asked about the price increase. Needless to say we won’t be going back there. I guess Lily will just have to get used to some less quality food.

*sigh* I went out to their house again after work today. It rained on and off all day. Right when it was time to go outside the feed the animals, the sun came out. I was thinking this was great. Within the hour, a heavy thunderstorm was approaching. I quickly went to their house and kitty was nowhere to be found. I figured she was hiding, but I had hoped to at least check to see how she was doing. Then it started thundering and I decided to race the storm home (just beat it!). There were tornadoes developing in some nearby towns. Luckily, none here yet.

This kitty isn’t exactly easy to catch. I would need time (and nice weather) to get her. By the time I would be able to get her, my in-laws will probably be home anyway.

I was shocked when I got a 25lb bag of Castor and Pollux Organix for my dogs at the store on the military base for $30 and then when I went into Petsmart it was like $59.99 D: And I think they refused to price match because the military base wasn’t a “competitor” well, they lost the competition because I just get my dog’s food from the base lol There were a few times when the base was out of that brand of food and so I would have to go to Petsmart and get a small 5lb bag for $14 *sigh* I hate how ridiculously priced food is at pet stores. Even online this food is CRAZY expensive so I feel lucky our base started carrying it.

 Oh and I got my buns back home today! I was so excited to have them back and Abbie was even more excited! She was crying and wagging her whole butt when she saw them. She missed them a whole bunch lol  Oh, and they got a cage make over

Jeez, it is STILL raining. This gigantic blob just keeps reforming on the back side resulting is practically continuous rain. We have had 5 or 6 inches of rain so far this week. It is insane!

Yeah, I hate how pet stores always rip you off. We’ve been buying her food at that same store for 3 years now though, increasing the price by a third, out of nowhere, is pretty insane. Of course they didn’t bother to mention that when we ordered it last week.

We’ve been itching to drop that store for a while anyway, they make mistakes with our order all the time and have an attitude of  “If you don’t like it, go somewhere else…” Well, I guess that’s what we’ll do. We only kept using them because they had it for the best price.

our main promoter for our dolls lives about 3 blocks from there, she said she only had water in her basement luckily.

Abbie has definitely noticed that bear is no longer living here. Yesterday all she did the entire day was lay by the back door. I asked, “Wanna go outside?” She normally gets excited but she wouldn’t even lift up her head Then I asked, “Where’s your toy, Abbie? Bring it here!” And she still wouldn’t even lift her heard. It was the saddest thing ever. I even threw her toy and nope… SHe lifted her head out of interest but didn’t bother getting up to get it. She didn’t eat at all yesterday and she is normally a big fatty.

BUT I did find something that she canNOT resist! I got out the laser. She is obsessed with that thing and we only bring it out on special occasions because she gets so crazy about it and looks for it ALL day. Like if she sees us grab something, she will think we are grabbing for her laser and get excited. So anyhoo, I brought it out and it perked her up quite a bit

And this morning when I woke up, she still wasn’t excited about her walk (she normally is) but she did nibble on her food I hate seeing her this way.
She has NEVER been an only dog before. All of my previous roommates have had a dog so she has always had some kind of dog around. So we will see how she adjust. I KNOW I made the right decision for Bear because he was just too big in this tiny house and wasn’t happy anymore, but now I feel I made the wrong decision for Abbie.

Maybe you could get Abbie a friend that is about her size, so the dog isn’t too tiny, and Abbie isn’t an only dog.
