Maryann’s and Dono’s holiday weekend (no pics)

I took the girlfriend and headed off to a conference for three days.  As she has a free roaming rabbit, she threw a bit of guilt my way with my rabbits being in their condo for the entire three days.  Since I had just cleaned up the place, I figured why not.  I did a once over in the bedroom, unplugging and hiding cords and making sure everything was safe.  Then, I opened up the cage door, closed the bedroom door and went away for the holiday.

Coming back Monday afternoon, every evil was going through my head – from puddles everywhere to even a possibly injured rabbit.  When I opened up the door to the bedroom though, everything was fine.  The buns were healthy, I couldn’t find any major destruction areas (oh a few things were ‘tasted’ of course) and it all looked good.

Then, I tried to walk into the area.  Maryann immediately attacked my foot (she’s NEVER done that before) so I simply turned around, closed the door and let them have their privacy until this morning.  Where I refed them an locked them back up in their condo.  I need to do a more thorough inspection of the place but I think it is quite possible that by the end of this week, they’ll have free roam of the bedroom 24/7.

Fun! That will definitely be wonderful for them. My bunny is free roaming and I think they are so much happier that way! Plus, they get so much more exercise.

If you don’t want to have to keep the door closed all the time, maybe you could get a pet gate.

I haven’t found a pet gate high enough that Maryann won’t jump over.  I’ve tried using an X-pen in the doorway but within half an hour, I have maryann hopping around the living room.  My only choice would be to install one of those security doors that people have on the outside of their houses.

You could always install one of those doors where the top half can open without the bottom half. Just like Mr. Ed!

If my comforter wasn’t dry clean only I’d almost consider letting Freya in my bedroom. Then again I’m not sure how so many people do that, I’m married, it could get… awkward(sp?).

I long for the day that my bunnies can be free range ANYWHERE. I think it’s sad that they have so little playroom.

Yes, I have looked closer, and I am glad that my girlfriend insisted that I unplug everything.  Seems they took the lamp’s cord and played tug of war with it, nibbling down the protective coating of it enough that it gave me a shock when I plugged it back in. 

Other than that, things look good.
