Marshmallow is staying at the vet  .

I woke up this morning and turned on the light to feed the bunnies and she is usually the first one to either pen door but this time Pacey was at his first and Marshmallow didn’t move. So I put her food in her pen she still didn’t move. I went and picked her up and she just went limp and felt cold. The first thing I did was check everywhere for wounds or blood or anything there was nothing. I rushed out to the vet in my PJ’s without a second thought.

By the time I got there she was perked up a tiny bit but not by much she was still really cold to the touch. She refused water hay veggies everything and wouldn’t let me or the vet pet her at all. He felt around her for knots or cuts or lumps anything. So far they have drawn blood, xrays, urine and fecal samples among an abundance of tests. The first thing I asked was is her ear infected (because me I panic at every thing and thought her ear was causing this) and the answer was no that it looked great.

So far they haven’t figured out what is wrong with her I was there from 6 am until about 20 minutes ago. Poor Marshmallow is having all kinds of issues. They are going to call me if things start to look better or worse. I hope it isn’t anything serious and is fixable….

oh no- healing vibes for Marshmellow!  I know it is an awful feeling to throw on clothes, grab keys, and rush your pet to the vet.  Hopefully they will have some answers for you soon- and that is great that she at least perked up a little.

Got a little bit of an update. They still haven’t figured out what is wrong with her. But they got her to eat a little bit of hay and a piece of Romaine Lettuce and some water. She no longer feels cold to the touch except her feet are still very cold. And she escaped from the cage (she is truly a felon at heart). Hopefully they will figure out what is going on and she can come home.

I don’t know if this is normal for rabbits to do or not but Pacey usually won’t go near Marshmallows cage whether she is home or not but today I have found him in there several times (he can jump over the top) and he keeps stealing her stuffed toy and hiding it in his hide box.

She is home now!!! They still couldn’t figure out what was wrong with her to make her cold. But she had 2 back teeth extracted they had grown towards the front of her mouth instead of up like normal. So she is pretty much just sleeping now due to pain medication and escaping her pen as usual (I seriously think I should have named her Felon lol).

I was told to keep her on the antibiotics she was on for her ear and if anything even remotely changes to bring her straight in. But for now she is acting normal just drowsy and cranky. Pacey is ecstatic that she is home though he keeps going to the side of her cage and grooming her face then does 10 or so binkies and repeats the process. If I even attempt to put him away he gets mad tosses his litter box and thumps until I let him out.

She is acting normal at the moment and is sitting in my lap right now trying to eat the keys on my laptop. She goes back to the vet tomorrow for her ear checkup (thankfully it’s free since the vet fee was waaaaaaay expensive for her to stay lol) they are going to check her and should have all the blood fecal and urine sample results back.

Ok back from the vet again! All of the tests came back normal nothing wrong at all. This is frustrating! The vet said she could have went into shock and that was the reason she turned cold. But what could have caused her to go into shock? They had even more tests sent off for other things. But yeah came home with a whole lot of nothing lol. Hopefully whatever happened was a one time thing. So yeah that’s the “update”.

I agree that is frustrating. You may never know and it may be an isolated incident unless the other tests show otherwise.

Yesterday she ate a little on her own but was in obvious discomfort and gave up so I fed her mostly mashed food. Today she ate half of her serving and all of her veggies and is munching away on hay now so I haven’t made her any mash to see if she eats the whole serving at dinner time.
