Male bunny problems

Hi everyone. I have had my male bunny for about three years now. He is not fixed yet. Pippin is a lion head and angora mix, so he is 80% fluff. This has been a problem due to him developing a massive tangle problem. I have been able to get them out until now, in his nether regions his waste has clumped together, blocking his poopers. We were able to gently clear them out and he will be able to poop all right from now on.
What I am worried about is his penis, I am not sure that it looks right, it seems to have some poop and fur on top of it. Is this normal? His cage looks like he has been peeing fine, but I am worried the fur and poo is blocking it. I can get a photo if you want. Please respond ASAP about what I can do and if it is normal for their tips to be covered. Thank you so much, I just want my bun bun to be healthy and happy. And if you have any tips on how to remove poo from his fluff, feel free to throw that in too.

I currently have two angora lionhead mix boy bunnies and they do get pee and poops stuck in there fur a lot. I’d say that little pippin would be fine as long as he is peeing and doesn’t seem to be in any pain. But if you are still really worried you could take him to a vet! And to prevent mats groom his fur regularly. Another thing you could try is trimming the hairs around his private area very carefully.

It is not normal for buns to get poop consistently stuck on their bum, unless you mean regular dry poops get tangled into the fluff, in which case, that is fine.

Do you mean sticky poop? That sounds like he’s producing excess cecatropes, which means there’s a problem with his diet. Could you tell us what his diet like?

Sticky poops stuck to them can cause all sorts of nasty problems, like fly strike, which is life threatening, so it needs to be solved.

If he is constantly getting matted you need to work on grooming him more often, or perhaps trimming his fur if grooming isn’t working.

I was just about to post something similar. Our Dawn, a black otter netherland dwarf, has an ongoing problem with soft poop and diarrhea. She gets Timothy and pellets, and we’ve cut out ANY kind of treats, because they just upset her tummy terribly. Once or twice a month, I have to wash her little butt (Something she HATES and I’m pretty sure will kill me in my sleep for doing) to get the stuck poop off.

I’m open to ideas as well.
