I built Maddy a new NIC cage, and I’m so proud, because I did it for under $20!
I found a box of nearly 100 NIC grids at the thrift store. I got the whole box for $5, including the plastic connectors. I decided for a floor to put down heavy ceramic tile (with a blanket underneath to catch any accidents that go between the small cracks). I got a box of 16 for $11, brand new, at the Habitat for Humanity Re-Store (a large wherehouse of use building supplies. Basically a home-improvement thrift store). Plus cable ties for $3, and voila! I already had the dow rod and blankets. I still have at least 60 grids left. One day I plan to re-build her cage, and double the size. But for now, it’s nice and roomy, and she seems to love it!
I’m going to change the flooring on the shelf tomorrow, the blanket and ceramic tile are only temporary for tonight. I am going to carpet the shelf tomorrow.
Pictures!
