pumpkin was getting too big for her old litterbox so i bought her a bigger one last week. ever since then she has been super destructive. she keeps digging all the litter out, chewing the pee pad and dragging it out of the box, trying to dump it out, etc. now she’s even being destructive outside of her xpen too. yesterday i noticed that she has also peed on the floor right beside the litterbox.

i thought that maybe she would just get used to it if i left it in her cage for a while but eventually i got tired of cleaning the mess up every few hours so this morning i switched them and put her old litterbox back. now she’s acting normally again.

is there anything i can do to get her to like the new litterbox?

Omg, rabbits are such little weirdos!

Normally you just put some used litter in the new box and place it where the old one was, but since Pumpkin seems to hate the new box anyway -maybe she’d accept the new box if you put the old one in it? Clean it first with the normal cleaning products you use so it smells like home. You could even rub some fresh herbs on it to make it smell really bun-friendly.

This might not work, but it could be worth a try? If she accepts having the old box in the new, you could try removing the old box after a week or more.

You mentioned she’s getting too big, so I’m guessing she’s also young?

I wonder if this could also be partially due to the onset of puberty, that just so happened to go along with the new box?
