I had to drive my son in to town today (I haven’t really driven in years, what with my cancer treatments four years ago and just not feeling capable enough during the snowy winter months) and that meant getting up several hours earlier than I am used to, taking care of all bunny needs, getting myself cleaned up afterward and him up and fed and ready, then driving thirty miles to town, waiting for him to finish his appointment and then going willy-nilly all over town to attend to my various shopping duties.

I am beat…but apparently have my second (or third) wind now and it’s going to be a feat to get to sleep. In two days I have to take my daughter in for a routine doctor’s appointment. (another long drive to and from…OY!)

The kids have decided daddy’s driving is too scary and they want the “Turtle Cab” to take over for the summer. >.<

Yes, they are both old enough to get their licenses. No they don’t seem motivated to do so. (Kind of hard when we live so far out.)

*sigh* How many others out there are unpaid chauffers besides me? lolz…. What kind of fun places are you expected to provide the service for?

With 3 non-driving teenagers, I can easily log 30 miles in an evening without leaving town. Choir & play rehearsals and performances, church activities, tutoring, babysitting jobs, school games and dances, visits to friends, etc., all need the mom-mobile for transport. My 15-yr-old, 8-seat, powder-blue station wagon is easily recognizable and everybody waves. Or maybe people wave because the kids’ friends are always scrambling for the 3rd (rear-facing) seat so they can ride backwards and wave at the other drivers. I spend a lot of time on the road, but it’s a great opportunity to talk. No TV, no doorbell, and, sometimes, no one else in the car. That’s when I learn all sorts of stuff about their lives.

I don’t even want to think about the number of miles I log – and I only have one pre-teen!!!!! Unfortunately for my suv, he plays hockey, which means ice time almost every day with some away games being over an hour away!!!! Then there’s violin lessons, orchestra practice, karate, swim, student coachng and volunteer hours at the bunny rescue!!!! We currently homeschool – otherwise I’m not sure there would be enough hours in the day!!!! Thank goodness hockey seson ends this week and orchestra has only a couple more weeks!!!! Maybe then I will have some time to get some bunny pictures loaded on here!!!!!!!!!!

I got my license last year (I waited until I was 18) and now drive myself and sister (16) to community college almost every day (except that school is out now). Once I transfer to a 4 year college I won’t have a car. For now I have to drive my sister wherever she wants. She has her license but is not so good with directions.

My son is trying for his b4 he hits 21… He had a ticket for riding his bike without a helmet so the wonderful state of florida gave him a license # and suspended it cuz the ticket didn’t get paid.. He was what 14 years old not even old enuf to get a license.

His dumb Dad claimed they can’t do that… I even tried to show him the letter they sent stating so but of course Mr. Denial… So my Mum paid off a bunch of legal stuff he did so he can get his license….

Yeah he got into a bunch of trouble growing up… When he turned 20 he got sent to a really good program… It is working for him nearly a year now.. The judge couldn’t have done a better decision for him than that… He is still doing good…. Out of trouble… people to talk with thru the program still to keep himself in good shape… It is working for him… He has never gone more then 3 months without an officer calling or coming to the door for him…He is the youngest one in the program…

It has been nearly a year now… still going strong I am so relieved and happy about that…

I drive my mom everywhere. It is an hour to the closest town and an hour back. If she has to go to the dr. it is almost 2 hours there and 2 hours back. And this woman never wants to stay home so every few days I hear the dreaded “Sonn get dressed” LOL.

If I had kids and they were school aged I would probably be so tired I couldn’t move I hate driving. Plus I have a phobia of being in the car so yeah things don’t work too well lol.

I waited until 23 to get my license
