› FORUM › THE LOUNGE › Lola’s babies :) (accidental litter) & are now 8 wks old
i came home this morning to find a nest of lola’s hair with three babies in it. there is a fourth baby underneath the blanket away from the nest? what do i do with the fourth baby?
Put the baby in with the other babies.
thanks, if she sees me messin with them will she not take care of them?
Not necessarily.
Are Penny and Lola now separated?
they have been in seperate cages since i found out penny was a boy.
i just moved all of his stuff including him into the guest bedroom.
they both had an appointment to get fixed next month.
she built a nest on a blanket on the floor should i leave them there for now? or should i put them in her cage. she is allowed out of the cage all the time. should i make her stay in the cage with the babies or is it okay if she runs.
If she seems pretty calm it might not be a bad idea to move the blanket with the nest to the cage- just make sure she sees you do it and maybe give her a treat or other positive reinforcement. The main reason I would suggest this is not that Lola needs to be contained- but the babies should be contained. Even before their eyes are open they can move and squiggle around in search of food and get separated from the nest. I also think the nest would be more secure in a cage and maybe help Lola feel more relaxed. I guess I would recommend penning her with the babies for a majority of the time unless her cage is small and was only jntended as a “secure spot”. Lola is obviously a young mother and it might be best for her to be kept near the babies to keep her attention on those- unlike a “teenager” that is easily distracted by other freedoms.
Oh Gosh! I guess you were semi prepared having discovered Penny was a boy recently, but still…..a surprise no doubt. There are some threads in FAQ section on unexpected litter if you wish to take a look. Are the babies all the same size? You may have to check now and then and put any escapees back in the nest.

Here is a link to a post that had extensive feedback when Oreo had an unexpected litter. It took place within the last year, and has over 100 replies as time went on. I think you’ll find it helpful to read through it for good advice on what to do soon, as well as what you might expect.
Included are links to other sources of information. Try to take a few minutes to read it for any help that pertains to you. It’s very good.
Once you have everyone settled in nicely, the next step is to take pictures and post them here!![]()

Oh my! How is Lola doing? Do the babies look like they have full bellies?
just a little update on the babies!!
I am sooo proud of Miss Lola. She is being such a good mommy. I was so scared at first because she is so young and a first time momma. I’ve been checking on them twice a day. After I check on them she always comes in right behind me and makes sure they are all okay. Three of them seem to be perfect.. full, round tummy’s every morning. The fourth one is the runt & he seem to be doing fairly good himself. She keeps her nest nice and tidy. It’s amazing to see how much they have grown in only three days! thanks for all the info. I absolutly love this website and I am so happy I found it even before I had Penny & Lola.
I’m going to try and have pictures of the babies soon!!
sorry. i didn’t mean to post it that many times, my computer was being wierd. ![]()
No problem – I deleted the extra posts.
They sound like they’re doing great. ![]()
Good luck with your new brood!!!!!
Good luck and yes we definitively need pics!
*waits (im)patiently for baby bun pics*
here they are!!
I’m praying that they are all healthy.
This is Lola’s first litter & they are three days old in this pic.
The second one to the left might be the runt. You can tell by his leg, it looks much smaller than the rest of them.
I’m a little worried about the small one.

Awwwww….so precious…
Oh, how beautiful! Please cherish this experience!
omg *snuggles the babies*
adorable!! they look like they will have very pretty colors too. keep posting pics!!! ![]()
I’m glad to hear that your babies are all doing well – they look like they are going to be very cute – sounds like you need to keep that neuter appointment
I’m looking forward to seeing more pics as they grow up!
Awww!!! They look so cute!!!
Is that Lola in your avatar? It looks like they have the beginning of a harlequin coloring…
Vibes for mama and babies!
awww! So cute! =)
Thanks everyone, I am so excited for the babies.
Penny is the harlequin & i am so happy the babies have some color from him.
The three babies are still growing and they look very healthy.
They are bouncing around in the nest when I check on them.
The fourth one is really starting to worry me. He is so tiny compared to all the others & I’m thinking Lola isn’t taking care of him.
He might be a peanut.
I’m taking new pictures tomorrow, I’ll be sure to post them!!
Beautiful babies!
Get some kitten milk if Lola isn’t feeding him, see if that works to keep him nourished. My bun was the runt, and she turned out good ![]()
I’m wondering what the babies hair might end up looking like.
I’m not sure if Lola is full lionhead or mixed.
Is it possible for the babies to have her lionhead hair?
OMG!!!!! How adorable!!!! I love the markings on the one at the top!!!! Can’t wait to see what they look like as they grow!!!!! Have you given any thought to keeping any of them???? I don’t think I could let them go!!! **scampers back to picture to pet them with the cursor!!**
It is possible that they will have lionhead manes, they may not be full manes, might just be some extra long wisps of fur here and there. They are beautiful buns. I don’t think the runt is a peanut, if it were, you would know it almost immediately. They look very deformed. Keep encouraging mama to feed the runt also, continue to put the runt in the nest with the others. You can try some KMR.
I had to edit this message.
The little one didn’t make it- it breaks my heart.
I named him/her Halo & let the baby know how much it was loved before it left me. I’m going to bury it out back near my dog Sunny.
These are pictures from this morning – 5 days old. ![]()

yes, i plan on keeping one. i wish i could keep them all, i’m so in lovee!!!
They are perfect!!! I love their little spots!
They’ve gotten so much bigger already! Binky free little Halo…
I am sorry about baby Halo. Such a perfect name… You provided that sweet little one with love during his short life. Hugs to you…
Binky Free Baby Halo!
okay.
I need to ask a few questions.
Mr. Penny some how found his way out of his cage this morning while Lola was having her free time…& as much as I don’t want to say it i’m scared she could be pregnant again.
If she has another litter what do I need to do?
Is it possible that she might take care of both litters?
Or will I have to hand feed the older babies if a new litter comes along?
I’m sorry, I know it sounds like i wasn’t being responsible. My sister checked Penny & Lola last night and she accidently left the top of the cage open.
– Penny has an appointment to get fixed on the 17th.
The babies and momma are doing great! their hair is growing! New pictures tomorrow
![]()
Those pictures are amazing!
I’m sorry to hear about baby Halo.
Maybe ring your vet and let them know. She may have to go earlier for emergency spay. Not sure if waiting til 17th will still be ok or not so best check with them. I’m wondering though if she can actually be away from these kits that soon? Maybe you can look into getting Mr Penny fixed first.
Penny (boy) is going to be neutered later this month. I’m not sure if you can do an emergency spay while a mom is nursing… this has happened before unfortunately. I think at 4 weeks the buns will start eating some regular food but ideally they should be able to nurse until 6 or 7 weeks.
I was at walmart tonight and i found kitten milk, I had no clue they sold kitten milk at walmart!!
If Lola does have another litter would I be able to take the oldest litter away and feed them kitten milk & pellets until they are weaned so momma can take care of the new litter? – or what would be best??
I don’t think she’s pregnant but i’m sure its possible.
Penny wasn’t around her too long, but I also know it doesn’t take long. But if she is I will be prepared this time, just incase!
thanks everyone! ![]()
I think it would be best, as jersey said, to call your vet and consult him/her on what to do and when. The vet will know when it is safe to leave the babies for a spay, and whether it needs to happen sooner if there is the possibility of a pregnancy.
Here’s an article from the House Rabbit Society that might be good to review about babies.

Hey, you can tell they are bunnies now
*snuggles the babies*
OMG, so adorable!!! Yup, they are gonna be harlequins! The look like little itty bitty Stormy’s (my Harly Mini-Rex).
Sorry to hear about little Halo. That’s so sad ![]()
They are so cute and getting bigger! I wouldnt be able to let them go!
Yeah, theres no way id ever be able to give away the babies, I’m too much of a softie ![]()
They are the cutest things I ever saw.
Oh my! Oh my! *sneaks bunny in her pocket*
Awww! Look at da writtle babiesss! Hehe. They are so adorable!! Hopefully Lola isn’t pregnant again… good luck with that!
Sorry to hear about Halo =( Binky free little baby!
Oh my goodness, they are just adorable! My mom saw the pictures and said she’d pay $500 for one (jokingly, of course). Talk about amazing looking little rabbits!
I’m with Beka on this one, better keep an eye on those babies, or 1 or all of em are sure to disappear one day ![]()
First off, I’m sorry for your loss. I am very glad that Halo came into this world and left knowing what it feels like to be loved. I believe every animal deserves a name and to know some kindness during their time in this world, even if it is limited. The worst part about being an adult is having to be the one that has to deal w/ the physical end of death (i.e. removal & burying the body, etc.).
They are AMAZING!!!! Isn’t it awesome to see their little ears, bunny teeth and hind thumpers. Their colors are gorgeous. Enjoy this time, b/c hopefully it won’t happen again.
I agree that you should speak w/ your vet. It is possible that she is pregnant again, since rabbits are induced ovulators, meaning that they will drop their eggs in response to the “action.” I really hope that made sense. This is true w/ cats as well. Talk to the vet, you may need to have another plan in place.
Keep up w/ the pics, it’s making my day![]()
thanks everyone,
I know, my heart just melts when I see them.
They are sooo beautiful & even better in person!!
they are 9 days old today!
I’m going to post new pictures tomorrow
shouldn’t their eyes be opening soon?
I’m in love with your babies.
I love when a member has babies and we get to see them change and just get cuter and cuter!!!
they are colored like thumper… LOVE
I’m very sorry about Halo.
Very cute bunch of bunnies, I’m jealous.
I think i maight just haev to get one colored liek them for my monkey to love. they’re adorable!

11 days old ![]()
Eeeeee! They are so cute! I especially like the last picture, of the one bunny’s face. It looks like he is EXTREMELY displeased with something – it’s the ultimate “disapproving bunny”!
OMG! I am dying here. I need one of those bunnies! (or all of them!!!!)
So cute! <3
oh i know, he might not have been to happy about the camera flash!! I don’t think it was the best thing for his little eyes, I didn’t think about it until after i took the picture.
I think I just alarmed my hubby with my squeals after seeing those newest pics. He must think I’m going nuts or something. Must… have…more…buns!
Monkeybun, I just read your post wrong and thought you said your husband squealed LOL!
And why not?
ADORABLE!
I dont know what my buns are but i dont think he has lionhead in him but he is colored like the babies
I don’t know what Mr penny Is either, when I got him they told me it was a her and she was going to be a lop….. they were ALL wrong.
All I know is that he is harlequin colors. The picture makes it look likeThumper has some longer hairs in between his ears. He’s beautiful tho, When I read what you said about how the babies colors matched Thumper I got so excited.
new pictures ![]()
13 days old!!!
i looked in the nest box and they were all walking around and exploring! haha. it was the sweetest thing i think i’ve ever seen! I took them out and me & their momma were watching them explore!! I’M IN LOVEEE!!
Eeekk!
They are absolutely precious!
I must have them! I can’t believe how fast they are growing and exploring. Thank you for sharing your experience (and pics!).
Ohmygosh… this totally made my day. What beautiful little guys! I can’t even imagine what that’s like, watching them be born, open their eyes, and discover the world.
Please post as many pictures as you can!
The fifth one down looks like he is ready to eat that camera. Oh they are so cute. I just love them up.
They are just precious! Absolutely precious!
ohh i agree, they are the cutest things ever!! I look forward to waking up every morning just so i can see if they have changed & they just look cuter and cuter every time! they are scratching their faces with their little feet and grooming each other & even just watching their little noses wiggle.. Its so neat to watch the babies act like mom & dad.
they have changed so much & so fast! they will be 2 weeks old tomorrow.

I think i just died. Squealed again.
Even hubby made cutesy noises this time.

Daddy & Babies ( mom was in her cage)
This morning checked on them and they were all out of the nest box exploring the cage. I went to put them back in and the white one kept getting back out of the box. lol. They are too cute![]()
while I had them on the floor they were trying to eat little bits of hay…. is this okay??
OMG BABY BUNNY BATH! *squeal!*
where do you live, ima come kindap bunnies! *bounces up and down in her chair*
i think the hay is fine- but i’m not expert… are they solely on mama’s milk?
and oh lord. too freaking adorable.
yay! they’re getting so big!
This site says: At about 2 to 3 weeks your babies will take a real interest in sampling grasses and other “solid food”. http://www.earthskids.com/babybunnies.aspx#growing
It is fine for them to start nibbling on mom’s food. They are too adorable! They look “lionheady” to me with their ears and facial structure…
good, because they are starting to show an interest in food.
i swear they were doing little baby binkies last night!! ![]()
Oh I don’t think I have seen a colored picture of your daddy bun before. (only you signature) He is very striking! They are just all so cute! I want to adopt another bunny now! *keeps away from petfinder* arrgh ~
ooo petfinder… must go look at buns…
My boyfriend walked in the room and saw the baby buns and said ” look baby thumpers ” hahhah
Its too bad I don’t have a house yet *glares at hubby* but someday soon I will get one *more glares at hubby* and have a house full of itty bitty bunnies that are all mine! *snuggles buns and glares at hubby if he dares to disagree*
I’ll be the crazy Bun Lady on the block… ![]()
I must stay away from this thread before I go & adopt anybunny else. LOL
More pictures, please! Pretty please!!!
Oh heck, I already informed the hubby we’re gonna get anotehr bun as soon as we get a NIC condo built for them.
So… I’m hunting online for stuff lol.
I wish we could adopt another bun but i must first get a bigger indoor house for my 2 big buns and get them altered
I already have 4 bunnies, any more & people will start refering to me as the Crazy Pet Lady, maybe they already do!!!
I am definitely called the crazy bunny lady at work
but I guess that is because I don’t really hide the fact that I have 8….
The babies are SOOOO adorable! And baby bunny binkies are the BEST, you’ll have to get some video of them.
Okay, I haven’t been on for about a week. That was A LOT of cuteness to handle all at once. I could never have baby buns because I would never be able to let them go…they are beyond adorable. Daddy is a handsome guy too.
I know, it’s going to be so hard to give them up. I’m making sure they go to good homes that have experience with buns. It worries me. I’m new to buns myself. I’ve had Penny & Lola now for only 4 to 5 months.. Penny was my first bunny and before I got him I did TONS of research & found out that rabbits need a ton of care. I had no clue they could be litter trained or free run. & I honestly had no clue they had to be fixed. I’m glad I did some bunny searching. My mom & boyfriend say I have spoiled buns, I love them so much..When I walked into the room earlier Mr. Penny came a hopping to the door, dropped his little nose and went into the PET ME position. He’s just too sweet. It just stresses me out so I want to make sure the little ones are going to good homes that have the time and experience.
I’m happy I have all of you when I have questions or need help.
thanks to everyone!!
Amanda, if you just ask lots of questions to a potential bunny slave for one of your baby buns, you should be able to feel them out and tell how much research they’ve done. Maybe even ask to see their set up for the bun before they bring him/her home. Good luck finding them homes!
Oh my gosh they are BEAUTIFUL! And no wonder-mom and dad are both gorgeous bunnies! I have to say, daddy the harlequin is GORGEOUS!
Don’t worry I’m sure you’ll find them wonderful homes-talk to them lots and ask lots of questions, and you’ll do just fine ![]()
Okay, its been DAYS again! Want baby pics! ![]()
Me too
I ditto….more baby pics!
Having done re-homing & rescues over the years, I have always done my best to pick excellent homes. Unfortunately, sometimes it doesn’t work out. I’ve always added a clause that I will take back any animal at anytime that I’ve rehomed, no questions asked. So far nobody has taken me up on the offer, but it does make me feel a little better about the rehoming.
okay, thanks for the advice.
I’ll post new pictures tomorrow, they are almost three weeks old! The time is going by so fast!
Is it okay for them to come out of the nest box and play around in the pen all the time? They bother their mom at night and try to get underneath her whenever they see her & she just moves away. Is it okay for them to be doing this or should i put them in a taller box? They are also eating hay and pellets. I’m sorry, I know these might be silly questions. I just want to make sure this is all normal & okay. I moved them into a safer pen. they were in a nic cage & they were excaping thru the holes! ![]()
There is some really great info here on what to feed babies:
http://rabbit.org/faq/sections/diet.html#babies
And oh, I am so wishing it was me who had an accidental baby surprise one morning. They are so cute! Really sorry to hear about Halo – must have been hard to see him not doing well. But now he has found peace.
Love to see more pictures ![]()

three weeks old! ![]()
taken on 8/22/09.
I had to add this one!! -Baby bun & second mommy
– I only let the bun go for a second, I promise!! ![]()
Eeeeep! that just made my day! I was volunteering at the shelter all morning cleaning cat cages and getting kind bummed out because there are sooo many great cats there (like 150 some cats and 50 or so dogs… and for a very small county humane society with one two regular employees that’s A LOT). Anyway, I’m not even a cat person, I honestly don’t like them much, too sneaky and independent, but there are a few there that have stolen my heart =) And then it gets me down when I think about them, since they all need homes… so these pictures of all the little babies made me feel tons better!!!
Too..much..cuteness. Can’t stand it!The one on the far right in the fourth photo has to be my favorite.
Disapproving baby bunnies!!! >SQUEE!!<
– Annette
how will you ever part with such darlings?!
I see you’ve introduced them to 2 of the main food groups, hay & …..remote controls. LOL
They are very cute.
aw. I’m so happy the little buns brighten your day. they make mine too. I love taking pictures of them, thats why I always end up posting like 20. lol. I have no clue how I’m going to give them up. Someone is already intrested in taking one of them home. I plan on keeping one.. I have no clue how I’m going to just “pick one”, they are all too special. I will tell thier new familys that the buns are always welcome to come back If it doesn’t work out. & let me tell you, some times they follow mom out of the cage.. those little boogers are so fast. & when they eat the hay they sit inside the bowl. It’s to cute. oh and the little white one looks just like my Lola.
Furface- that commet about the remote controls made me laugh. lol -Too funny ![]()
amanda they are so beautiful!!
may i ask what part of the country you’re in?? ![]()
They are just too precious! That pic with the remote…lol but then the disapproving baby LOLOL! He’s looks like he’s got an old soul. I can’t imagine you’ll have any trouble getting them a good home.
You should enter the one of yourself with the baby bun in a Bunspace competition sometime – so sweet!
nom nom..those Directv remotes sure are pretty tasty!
I work for them (well a company that provides their protection plan)
I’m in NC too, what part are you at?
I think I’m going to have to fly to NC and do a house to house search.
They are adorable!!! Made my day! They have grown…SO MUCH!!!! I cant resist those little faces!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hmmm… do I hear a vacay to NC in a few weeks….?!?! Hehe. I wish I could get a baby bun (that is, if you’d even give me the honor of having on of those cuties!), but Leroy is quite enough right now.
(quietly tucks the bunnehs into large sweatshirt pocket and sneaks away…..)
Too cute! They’re absolutely beautiful…and I love Dad’s coloration.
(mapquesting NC as I type)…….I think I’m heading south for fall……wait a second I have a colleague who attended UNC…I guess I need to check which location, I’m assuming the main campus–Chapel Hill? Anywhere close to baby bunnies??????
I’m sure his twenty something self would LOVE to do a baby bunny transport for me.
K, I’m in need of my cuteness fix.
*** bangs glass on table chanting, “Pictures, pictures, we want pictures!!!” ***
I live about five hours away from UNC chapel hill. I actually live very close to virginia.
& to be honest I would absolutly love to find the buns good homes so if anyone is near that area and is interested in one of the baby buns – let me know.

24 days old. ![]()
K, I’ll be alright now…. for a little while anyway.
It’s been 2 whole days without any baby pictures.
Hint, hint…
If only they weren’t ont he other side of the country… I’ll just have to make do with… MORE PICS! ![]()
I love that last pic…so young but already in full disapproval mode ![]()
why cant NC be closer to texas?!?!
Too bad I’m in California :p Look how big they are getting! The last bunny pictured always looks so disapproving!
Aw, they are just gorgeous! I just joined and read through this whole journey and it’s quite incredible!
not fair. I wish everyone was closer!
I can’t believe they are about to be four weeks old.
They have now been using moms water bottle for the last few days.

It’s been 2 whole days without any baby pictures.
Hint, hint…

26 days old.
in love
I’m thinking the baby in the last picture is going to have hair like Penny’s and the other two are more like Lola. The one that is mainly white has much bigger ears than the other two. they are all so cute. ![]()
SOOO CUTE!!!!!!!!!They are getting so big!
i know! & I still can’t decide on the one I’m going to keep. It’s so hard!
I couldnt imagine having to decide, you get so attatched to them all!
I don’t think I could decide, I’d end up keeping them all. LOL
They are just so cute.
There is NO way I’d be able to give any of those cuties up, just look at their little faces! They demand “Love Me!” with every fuzzy little look. *bounces in chair*
They can’t be getting cuter – impossible! I’m going to explode!
Amanda, maybe if you get them sexed it may help in your decision on who to keep – depending if you want to bond the bun to Mr Penny/and or/Lola in the future. That’s sounds so odd just writing that as they’re the parents so you figure they don’t need bonding – I’m assuming that you’d still have to bond them as adults…..?
I don’t know how, but they just keep getting cuter! I can’t believe I somehow missed TWO day’s worth of pictures! I wish I was closer to NC… otherwise I would take one in an instant, well, as long as Leroy approved… ![]()
Well I Just got home from dropping my baby Penny off at the vet to get fixed.
keep him in your prayers.
I’m wondering if it would be best for me to keep a girl but then again Penny is now going to be fixed so it might be easier to bond them all If I keep a boy. I just have to watch out if i end up keeping a boy because I don’t want momma to get preggers again. If i were to keep a girl I think I’d be worried about mom and little girl fighting.
-Miss Lola will be getting spayed as soon as the babies are weaned off or as soon as she can.
{{{{{healing vibes for Penny}}}}}
The babies are so so so cute!!! Since Momma has been with them from the start I bet that whomever you choose will get along great with the pair. They are all adorable…. I dont know how you are just going to pick one!!
thanks so much. ![]()
Your right. I’m sure any of them will get along with momma. & i know. I wish I could keep them all.
I’d have five bunnies.

Oh my gosh, so cute. Haven’t been on the site for a while but it was lovely to read this thread and watch them grow before my eyes. I think I would have to keep them all, I wouldn’t be able to resist!
(RIP little Halo)
thanks Maria. ![]()
Oh my that little one sitting on your legs there has that “Pet me or else” look on its face! ![]()

I’d have five bunnies.
![]()
So? You’d have 5 bunnies. No biggy.![]()
They’re are just toooooo sweet. That the parents are so pretty just makes them super cute.
I think I’m smitten also because the have similar colouring to Jersey. I never knew her this young though. I cracked up at the pic of one climbing onto your crossed legs. Just looks so tiny! On a serious note…..Can you keep them? Would it be feasible?
I love the pic of the tiny little rabbit climbing your legs.
They’re so tiny!
oh man. this is like the best post ever in the history of the world. i just love looking at all the babies!!!
and i echo jersey, i don’t think it would be THAT bad having 5… ![]()
i suppose getting them fixed would be difficult, though. they are just so amazingly wonderful. ![]()
I keep coming back here for another dose of cuteness.

I keep coming back here for another dose of cuteness. This post should have a counter to say how often each of us has clicked on it. I think I must be up to 100 by now. LOL
Lol yeah me too! *waits for more baby bunneh pics*
He’s staring at the camera thinking -please not this thing again!
Best baby binky picture ever!! ( the best one i have taken) ![]()
this was part of a binky. I’m not good at catching them in pictures.
my Lola -pee feet!!
baby bun relaxing under my messy bed. ![]()
two out of the three pens/cages. Thats my Penny up there.
and a couple of the baby buns below in the random cage nobunny uses. just for playtime.
checking out some toys.
my beautiful Penny one day after neuter. i love him.
babies are now one month old.!!! ![]()
okay, good news & bad. Penny is doing wonderful.![]()
Remember about three weeks ago I posted that Lola could be expecting again because Penny found his way to her………
Well I know it’s not going to sound good but her belly is large, hard and tight…..
When I found out weeks ago that it was possible she could be having more babies I called the vet and they said she’s most likely not depending on the time he was with her. But if she does have babies it all depends on how the other little ones are doing with food and it all depends on the mom.
Correct me if i’m wrong… I’m no expert but since she’s most likely about to have more, I’m thinking the best thing for me to do when they come is move the 5 week old babies to a new cage. They are now eating pellets, hay & drinking water on the regular. I picked up some Kitten milk supplement and since i know they will still need the nutrition i can feed them once a day with that. I don’t see them chasing mom around as much as they used to..actually its rare that i see her feeding them anymore. If mom does have the babies i could also just let the older litter come to mom when she comes out for free time…..I Hope I’m making sense. I know it’s no excuse that Penny got out of his cage..at the time i had some cubes open from the top…and it wasn’t clipped shut. I should have been more responsible. Let me know if I’m making sense or if there would be a better option.
Oh eek – I forgot about that. Looks like she actually did get pregnant. I now see why keeping the current 3 babies may be too much. Has your vet advised you about what to do regarding them around her while gestating or after delivery?
Furface & Monkeybun, there is actually a Views counter. When you open House Rabbit Q & A forum and it lists the topics, the counter is in right hand column. Go check it – you might be surprised!
OH, more cutness, those babies are just too cute.
Poor Mom, more so quick, luck us – more pics *ducks & runs*
jerseygirl, no I meant a counter that would tell me how many times I’ve been here, not everyone. LOL
lol. So you did, I should have read that more carefully. Knowing something like would be like knowing how many minutes/hours spend on BinkyBunny.com….. *Gulp* It may be better just not knowing!
I’d be in the hundreds as well. I come back to this post many times a day just for a dose of baby cuteness. Pregnant again?!?! That goes to show you just how quick bunnies can get pregnant!! I cant wait for another round of baby bunny pics…. (((I know its only been a day but more bunny pics please))) hehehe!
Oh boy- more babies again? Good thing Penny is neutered now! You’ll want to keep track of the ages/sexes of the babies too so you don’t end up with a population explosion
I love that baby bunny pic of him disapproving the camera, it is too adorable!
I know its around 30 days for a rabbit to carry her young….does anyone know for sure how many days it is?
I’m sure she got pregnant again one August 7th…so could she be expecting on Sept. 7th….I’m thinking that would be 30 days.
& then again this could be a false alarm. but i’m preparing for it. & I’m very happy my Penny is fixed. This can be very stressful.
You are correct…. rabbits gestation period is 28-35 days (usually right around 30 days though). So Sept 7 is a good guess as to when to expect more babies (if they are going to come). Glad to here Penny is doing better!! Id give him some time to heal before putting him back with Lola (plus you dont want to stress her out right now if she is going to be delivering in less than a week).
okay. sounds good. I’ll have to keep a lookout around next monday or so, maybe a couple of days earlier than that. When she had the first litter she had them on a blanket on the floor next to her cage. So I have put some blankets in the main spots where she lays.. under the bed. outside of the cage. & inside the cage. I put the original nest box outside of the cage with the original pink blanket in it.. when it gets closer to the day of the babies arriving i will move it into her cage.
O-M-G that baby-bunny-butt is ADORABLE!!!! *Squeels!!!*
Keep us posted on possible more baby bunnehs-*Fingers crossed she’s not*
p.s.If you have more babies-you have to send me Penny-he’s my new favorite bunneh-Gorgeous!!

![]()
Amanda – how’s Lola going? Is she still looking like she might deliver?
PICTURES! ![]()
baby bunnies are 5 weeks old.
I put them on the play center to keep them in one spot. lol![]()
– there are a few dissaproving bunny pictures in here….![]()
trying to get a little bite of mommas treat.. i didn’t let them have it becasue i don’t think its too safe for babies to be trying treats this soon.

this is the one i’m thinking about keeping. i can’t make up my mind. ![]()

If Lola is having babies what should i be looking out for. she could be having them any day now if she’s pregnant.
are there any signs?
would anyone happen to know what age can i try and figure out the sex of the babies.
Well, that’s just not possible, they are still getting cuter. I love, love, love that 1st pic.
You have to keep ALL the babies so we can keep seeing pics of them
I really look forward to them!!! I’m anxiously waiting to find out about Lola!!!
I agree with Furface, they just get cuter and cuter
<3 *snuggles all the babies* I agree, they keep getting cuter every time I see them. All their fluffy little faces, disapproving bunny glares… makes me wanna get another bunny tomorrow ![]()
would anyone happen to know what age can i try and figure out the sex of the babies.
You can likely take a look now but it’d be a guess. Best they are sexed by a vet before they go to new homes – especially if someone who takes them has any un-speutered rabbits!
okay i have one more silly question but i just want to makes sure.
how old do the baby buns need to be before they can get new homes???
btw- I’m dreading this day.
![]()
Well 7 to 8 years should be old enough! *Ducks, runs & hides*
haha. I wish I could keep all of them. I don’t have much room. I still live with my family & we have three dogs, one cat & a bird. If I had the room & I knew I could afford it I would keep all of them. ![]()
You questions aren’t silly. I’m not entirely sure…I know they can be weaned by 8 weeks but it better for them to be with Mum a little longer I think. In Lola’s case, they mightn’t be able to have that extra time anyway. Do the HRS articles have any advice? They are toooooo cute – seriously, we will have withdrawal symptoms so I can’t imagine how it’ll be for you.
Posted By Furface on 09/05/2009 07:09 PM
Well 7 to 8 years should be old enough! *Ducks, runs & hides*
LOL!!!
I believe it’s 9 weeks, 10 or 11 is better.
So adorable!! I’ve read that most buns are weaned automatically around 5-8 weeks. You can remove them from the mum at 8 weeks (this is the standard timing), but it certainly can’t hurt to keep them with her an extra couple of weeks if possible.
My Monkey was 7 and a half weeks when we got her, but I think that as a little young, myself. I’d say 8 weeks minimum, 10 or more just to be sure they’ll be fine without Ma.
THey are ADORABLE I LOVE The coloring!!!!
*shhh…don’t tell Dave…I’m going to give you my address and you send them to me. I don’t think he’ll even notice*
It’s hard at young ages to sex them, but we had a few litters at our shelter and I was able to sex by three weeks of age. If you can take clear pictures of their ‘bums’ and post them, we could likely help you!
Basically its a slit for a girl and a cheerio shape for a boy. They both stick out so the shape is very important. Take a look at both mom and dad’s privates so you can see for comparison, then check the babies ![]()
OK, Amanda, I thought I should let you know that just because I am posting pic of wild babies & Kafrn is posting pics of Stu’s (or Flopsy’s) babies,
this in no way lets you off the hook. LOL
It’s been 2 whole days again & we are having more cuteness withdrawals!

when i started looking at the pictures, max came over and sat right on my keyboard. i’m choosing to interpret it as “mommy can you please fly to NC and get one? thank you”.
they are absolutely adorable, amanda. gorgeous.

Just started reading this thread. OMG! I am in love!! These babies are beautiful. I want all of them…
That’s a lot of cuteness to deal with all at once! Are you OK? LOL Welcome to the forum.
I can’t believe how big they’ve gotten!
8 weeks is going to be the soonest you want to separate them from mom. You do want to separate them at that point (or shortly after), to give mom a break. It might take some time tho to find good homes. Please be very careful and selective about where and who they go with. After 12 weeks, you’re going to have to separate boys from girls. You’ll want to start figuring out where you’re going to keep everyone… It will be here before you realize.
random picture of me& one of the little boys.
as you can tell he doesn’t look to happy about the situation.
I only hold them for short periods of time.
Their cage has been moved up kind of high and Lola knows how to get in & out but the babies are too small. When I walk in to get them out they all run to the cage door and sit there like little puppies just waiting for me to take them out. It’s so cute. & I figure it might help in the future when they *need* to be picked up for something. I sometimes have the hardest time with my Lola. She doesn’t like being messed with to much so when I need to check her or have to pick her up for anything she freaks out & I get scared because I don’t want her to get hurt.
poor Lola.
-5 weeks & 3 days old.
EEK! SOOO CUTE!!! Have you decided yet on which one you are going to keep? Yeah right! Keep em’ all!
I love your avatar pic! Its too perfect!
Precious!!!
thanks mrmac & furface.
nope, i haven’t decided yet. lol. I love them all. I’m still going to feel them out personality wise & I’m still debating on a male or female. When it comes down to it i know my Penny is a male and he is the sweetest thing in this world. so I’m just waiting. I never knew it would be so hard.
I couldn’t imagine having to decide! I think it becomes especially hard since you have raised them since birth, and to have to say goodbye to them. I would be SUPER picky about what homes they go to!
Stu’s thread about the new babies reminded me to mention the names I liked for the one I’m going to keep.
I love the name Oliver for a boy & Bailey for a girl.
I also put these names on the other thread about the new babies that look like little Dutch bunnies. ![]()
You are beautiful Amanda!
Sarita- that made my day, so sweet.
thank you. ![]()
I’ve made a habit of showing the hubby the baby bunny pics. When I showed him that one, he said “Wheres the rabbit?” lol. Men.

I’m sorry. ![]()
I had a really bad weekend & I’ve been very busy.
More pictures. The baby bunnies are now 6 weeks, 3 days old. ![]()
– Last night I let Penny & Lola play together and amazingly he wasning trying to get her preggers this time.
She was so happy, She hasn’t been the same since they were seperated. They had at least one hour last night to play together. She did all kinds of binkies and they were chasing each other. I also let the babies out. It’s the neatest thing ever to watch five bunnies running around, playing and chasing each other.
The picture below is the new cage setup. I still have a few more days before I can let penny & lola be unsuperviesd together but I just got so excited and spent a couple of hours making their cages into one huge cage.
The whole bottom part is open. It’s kind of hard to tell by the pictures. Sorry none of it really matches. lol everything was bought at differen’t times.
The babies cage is on top. haha. It’s made out of a random window screen and it’s placed up against the wall. So until I can buy some more cubes it will have to do.

BTW: eveything from Penny’s neuter has cleared up. ![]()
sorry you had a bad week
babies look wonderful!
Hope everything is going better for you now!!! The babies are so adorable!!
Awww I just wanna take that fluffy little girl home. <3 Well, and the boys too! All too adorable. <3 <3 <3
Sorry to hear you had a bad week, but doesn’t coming home to those adorabunnies make it all better at the end of the day? ![]()
Sorry to hear you had a bad weekend.
The babies are sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sweet, and my, how your remote has shrunk!
Are you keeping the babies? I love their house
Ahhh! I want the non-lionhead boy. o.o
How quickly could you ship him here? ![]()
AWW, I had a tough week too but, I’m all better now after seeing you sweet angels. Thank you. Hope you get back to the good times quickly.
thanks everyone. I’m doing much better today.
OMYGOSH! I want to lie down on a bed surrounded by hopping baby bunnies!
I that weird…?
I mean *is* that weird.
Ugh, it’s early in the morning : P
No, that isn’t weird at all. I suspect that everyone on this thread wants to do the same thing!
Is it possible that these bunnies are actually getting even cuter?
Uhoh! Bunny tinkle on the bed!! They are so darn cute. Which one did you decide to keep again? I’d be keeping them all if I was you. Sorry you had a bad weekend! I hope you have a better week! By the way, your camera that you use takes great pictures!
Lintini- lol. yes they sometimes tinkle on the bed. I find myself washing my bedsheets a lot. lol. I usually only have them up there if i’m trying to get pictures.
& thanks. I’m having a much better week so far.
LizzieKittenBun & Ordywife- nope it isn’t weird. lol. I sit on the bed with the babies sometimes because when they get on the floor they make huge messes!! they are very messy compared to mom & dad.
I know I want to keep a boy. Both of the boy’s come to me and are very friendly. I love the little girl but i’m not sure she cares for me so much. I was thinking about it last night and I can’t pick!!!! ahh! The one that is mainly white & he’s a boy is a little bigger than the other two. I’m thinking he’s going to be built like Penny with Lola’s hair.
A bunny bed-in!
Okay, I’ll just say it and get it over with: SQUEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!! They are sooo cute! The 4th pic is a really great shot!!
I’m keeping him.
He stole my heart. <3
Edit: Meet Oliver. <3

Oliver, almost seven weeks old.
Well gosh, no kidding!!
What breed are they again?
well I rescued Lola ( the mom) , I know she has lionhead in her but I don’t know for sure if she’s full lionhead. Penny ( the dad) I got him from a petstore & I was told that he was going to be a lop eared rabbit. wrong.
All I know is that he has harlequin colors.
So i’m going to say the babies are Lionhead/Harlequin mix. ![]()
Haha!! They’re a combination of….. super cute and ludicrously adorable, with possibly a hint of ::explode::
I agree with Lizzie! And <3 Oliver, what a lucky bun!
You finally decided…Oliver is so cute and I love that name!![]()
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been avoiding this thread because I knew I couldn’t take the cuteness!!!!!!!!! I’m on my way for the non-lionhead looking boy!!!! ****scurries off to grab a carrier and head out the door!!!!!!****

Oliver! *squee!* How cute is that? Did you get the name from the Disney movie, Oliver & Company? That’ll be the second reference to that in as many weeks for me from two different websites if so…so funny!
I still wish I could come get the little girl. She is so adorable! Of course, they all are.
Any word on homes for the other two?
And I just had to caption this one….

haha I Love the caption!
furface or flippersmom: Please come make it easier for me!!
I know they would have the best homes
(If only it were that easy.)
I repeat my question; how fast could you ship the little boy here? ![]()
I’m sure this might sound like a really really silly, stupid question…but….
Is it possible or safe to ship rabbits??![]()
![]()
I’m also wondering if anyone has done it?
Don’t temp me amanda!!!!!!! Where do you live?????????
***scurries off to get map….patiently awaiting reply!!!***
They are too adorable for words! I want the little girl, I want her! lol I think my boyfriend may disown me if I start wanting another one before we get these two even bonded…
So cute!! I’d be the pickiest home finder ever…lol. Good luck with that! When will you start looking?
North Carolina.
All the bunnies together. (Craisins of course.) ![]()

I know, it’s not very nice to tease them but i had to capture this in a picture. ![]()

hi there lola. ![]()
The babies will be seven weeks old tomorrow.
they got so big! i need to persuade Monkey to sit in my lap liek that, she’s not much of a snuggle bun. *packs her bag to go kidnap some baby bunnies*
Isn’t a bunny stampede for treats the cutest thing? ^_^
Don’t worry about shipping the girl bunny here, see how much it would be for me to ship myself there so I can collect her in person!
It is a beautiful little family. Excellent photos! Lola definitely reminds me of Pip…is she the diva type or does she cut you some slack for being a naughty bunny slave?
Shame on your for shaking that bag and then making them wait! lolz….
Those last pics were so cute…so thankful you’ve been keeping us up to date with lots of pics ![]()
of course.
I love being able to show them to everyone. ![]()
hehe. & i did get a couple of nips on the fingers by accident. They were all trying to get the one raisin in my hand at once. lol ![]()
OMG!!!!!!! OMG!!!!!!!!!!! That last round of pictures!!!!! That’s it , I’ve died of cuteness.
You know I’m so happy they’re growing up healthy & happy. I’m also so looking forward to seeing pictures of your little one growing up……
But….. About our pics of the other 2 soonish odoptees;
It’s always best to have some sort of contract, I am proposing adding the following clause;
New mommy, or daddy must promptly join Binky Bunny…..
New mommy, or daddy must promptly post on Binky Bunny; with videos if possible,
any daily pictures – audio, video welcomed
any & all photo ops must be taken=- Stories are also mandatory…..
…..
i swear if i was closer to north carolina… although google says its only a twenty hour drive……….
oh lord, amanda. and your dress is a fabulous color ![]()
haha.
& thanks. I’ts a sundress. ![]()
Just a heads up – this is going to be moved to the lounge soon – now that it’s all about the babies and cuteness overload.
So if you come here and don’t see it, check out the lounge.
Noooo! They be stealin’ mah bunnehs! lolz…
Sorry, my randomness got away from me there. Thanks for the heads up, BB. ![]()

bwahahahahahahaha!!!!!!
What a scare you gave me BB – I thought that this thread was lost and gone forever
– no more cuteness
!!!!!!!!
But as soon as I recover from that heart attack….then new cuteness pics……………(falls over from 2nd heart attack!!!!!!)
(Recovers chanting **must go to NC, must have baby bunny!!**)
I think its cute how Oliver and the girl have long fluffy hair and the other lil boy doesnt
AAAAawwwwwwwwwwwwwwww I just read the whole thread!!!!!!! Too much bunny cutenesss!!!!!!!!! Beautiful parents and babies!! The buns r so lucky to have you!! =)
they are the cutest things. I love all 6 on the couch and the little one all by himself in that big ol cage. lol
i just love them
I just love the fluffiness. I’m torn between a mini lop and a lion head for monkey’s friend… maybe i’ll find a mixed breed thats a loppyhead!
lol. i thought my lola had babies thread was gone forever!!!
I couldn’t find it. lol.
Oliver’s body matches Penny. & The little girl has the same body style as mom. She doesn’t want much to do with me for some reason.
I think I have found a home for one of the baby buns. She is my moms friend from work so it seems like I will be able to keep in touch. She said her husband had a house rabbit a while ago before they got married & he’s been talking about wanting another one. She’s interested too
She said that her garage was made in to a room a while ago and they ended up using it as a play room. She plans on turning that into the bunnies room.. ( the bunny will have it’s own bedroom to itself
) She says her husband knows a lot about rabbits but I told her I would type up some info. & things I didn’t know that I wish I would have. I’m so happy & excited. The bunny will only be about 15 minutes away!! ![]()
YAA you can visit and get updates! SOunds amazing dont let the other buns know tho not all house buns get an entire bedroom and we all have our divas so let us not tell them either! ha
um. Is it me or does my baby Oliver have helicopter ears ![]()
His ears have been doing this since last night. Its the same ear thats been down. I don’t know if anyone remembers me saying that the pet store where I got Penny said that he was a lop eared rabbit…..Well when i called and explained to them that he wasn’t and his ears never lopped they told me all they know is what the breeder told them. I know he’s a mix breed but I’m wondering if one of Penny’s parents had lopped ears..
Is this possible???
sorry the picture looks foggy, I took the picture thru the screen of the cage. ![]()

I asked him to walk to me just to show that his ear is still down. (sorry picture was taken thru the screen)
Here are some more baby pics I took today while cleaning my room. ![]()
Me & my baby Oliver.

Two boys in basket & girl.
babys are 7 weeks & 1 day old. ![]()
that is hilariously adorable!!!! i’ve never ever seen max or penny’s ears do that- my only guess is that he’s got some lop in him, like you suggested.
as if he can’t get any cuter, he decides to drop an ear. oh goodness, oliver.
I’m so excited.
I hope its not some silly false alarm. but he’s been doing it all day…sooo I guess I’ll just to keep an eye on it.
fingers crossed. He’s still a cutie regardless. ![]()
I don’t know if this has anything to do with it but Oliver’s ears have always been bigger than the other two.. even when he was a week old.
oh my goodness…could he get any cuter?? yep! He just decides to lop an ear…hehehe
sorry. I took more pictures. ![]()
Just trying a little bite. ![]()

I’m pretty excited about this…but i’m also wondering if theres a chance something is wrong with his ear, like and ear infection or something? maybe?
hope not.
Tegan says:
Whaddaya mean helipcoter ears are funny lookin?

– Annette
priceless, just soo cute
lol. that picture is too cute. & helicopter ears are both funny & adorable.
OMG how cute!! That is definitely an intentional look by him to maximize how many treats he can get over the course of his life just for being cute!
you didnt seriously say sorry for taking more pictures right?!
we LOVE them.
good. I’m glad because i’m forever taking them. I always see something new or cute & the first thing I think of is oh how cute & I’m going to show BB!! ![]()
And you can keep posting them forever as far as I’m concerned! And nice new forum name ![]()

Scroll down almost to the bottom to Maxine! So adorable! (but kind goofy looking…) Also, while we’re all on that page… can anyone tell if Mia (bottom of the page) is missing her ears or something? Her ears look really short.
Oh heck, I just read though the whole thread.
You have done a great job with them – Well Penny & Lola helped.
It is great to see them all play together!
thanks!
he still has the same ear down today. I wonder when the other one will fall. ![]()
Oh my Maxine is adorable! And Mia… it says shes a dwarf mix, so maybe she got the nethie ears, but got too big for em ![]()
yeah… it looks like all her hair pushed her ears down! oh and I love Oliver’s little lopsided ear, hehe
Those bunnies just make me melt!!!! ahhhhhhh
LOVE LOVE LOVE THE EARS!!!! It gives him a bit of a questioning look like… “Whatcha doin?”
Awwww!!! I love seeing all these pictures! He is soo cute!!! I was personally captured by the little face of your other male baby. I really think you should just keep them all so we can always see more pictures of the bun family… >.> <.< *shifty eyes* yup…just keep them all!

Bunnies outside. ![]()
I only got a few pictures before the camera died.
& it was starting to get dard outside.
almost 8 weeks old.
<3 the bunny stampede! SO cute! I especially like the baby who isn't quite as fluffy as the others.
Ummmm so NC you say… I’ve got family on Oak Island and in Raleigh (or maybe Asheville… or both? dunno)… I may have to go visit them and ‘accidentally’ wander upon your bunnies… what do you call baby bunnies? buttens? yeah I like that. Buttons. Like kittens.. but bunnies.
Also, side note… I saw you talking about Penny in another post and I was like “why did she name him a girl’s name?” … now I understand. Also also, I had a great grandma named Lola! she grew up in NC.
Oh Oliver is just adorable! Bella does the one ear lop thing too. (Notice in my avatar!) I am hoping both ears lop soon…..since she is a lion lop!
Maxine is sooooo cute! I never had a Lionhead before, but I had Holland lop as a kid. A lion lop is a very sweet breed. Bella is super cuddley and lovey. Are you getting her, Barbi?
OMG
Hand over the non-fluffy boy now or else <3333
Omg Amanda, they have grown soooooo much!!! Lionheads are so sweet! Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww I want one ![]()
eeeee! that looks so fun!!!!!
His helicopter ears are VERY cute.
And FluffyBunny, I mean this in the most loving possible way… back off the nonfluffy one! I claimed him a page ago! =P
I think I claimed him then, too ![]()
EDIT: I wrote on page 11 that I wanted him. ![]()
POKE!!!
POKE!!!
POKE!!!
Ugh. Fineee you win the bunny fair and square (I’m assuming you actually DID post on page 11… =P). Just see if you can get him away from Amanda…
Alright, thanks, Sibley…now;
AMANDA! HAND OVER THE NON-FLUFFY BUN OR I STEAL YOUR CARROTS!
(I really would adopt him if I lived closer. I’m actually looking for a friend for Mr. Bunny. Broken harlequin = my favorite fur color ever)
fluffy, what we need to do is start a caravan. you know, the people from california can drive to meet with someone in colorado, the people in texas can meet with someone in florida, the colorado caravan meets in kentucky ish, the florida caravan meets in virginia and BOOM we’re all there.
i kind of left out the north, though, because i have a hard time remember where everything is up in yankee land ![]()
…That’d be a great idea! xD
Aww you forgot oregon ![]()
ok how about oregon to minnesota to connecticut to NC? ![]()
so as i looked back through the photos, the girl is always the bun with disapproval! she’s gonna be a diva ![]()
lol. She was a bit of a diva. She has gotten a lot better.
Oliver still has those Helicopter ears.
I’m wondering how long it will take for the other ear to fall??
I’m getting a new camera tonight so there will be TONS of pictures soon, I have to play with the new camera. ![]()
His other ear might not ever flop if he’s only part lop. ![]()
omg! so adorable!
i find the picture of the daddy and the baby across each other hilarious in terms of size ![]()
OMG! They are so little and cute!! I now have to have a little bunny friend for Bunners. He was only little and cute for like a day… now he’s just cute.
We need new pictures! poke* poke*
