Litterbox issues

My spayed Female Arya is having some Litterbox issues. After I got her in Oct 2013 I built her a big NIC cage with linoleum floor. Shes usually really good at using her litter box but sometimes I’d come home to find pee RIGHT next to it. For the longest time i thought she was just being a brat and not using it all the time. But the other day i was standing there and saw her sitting in the litter box, but she didn’t really have her butt in it and so she peed on the floor of the cage and even a little bit outside on the carpet. Shes a lionhead maybe weighing 5 pounds max and her litter box is roughly 12 inches by 6 inches, with decently high edges and I feel like its a good size for her, but she sits at the VERY edge. But maybe i should get her a larger one? I’ve looked around a little at like Petsmart and PETCO and the ones they have are HUGE. Then I thought maybe buying a pan that goes on the bottom of a dog crate and putting that under the litter box but that wouldn’t stop her from accidentally peeing outside the cage, and when i move her little box further from the sides- she moves it back.

I feel like this is kind of confusing, but does anyone have any ideas? Has anyone found a litter box that isn’t massively huge?

Definitely get a larger litterbox. I use a medium cat litterbox for my single 3 lb bunny and 2 xl cat litterboxed forvmy bonded pair (one litterbox isnt enough for the two of them but they often like to be in the same box so had to go xl for them). You may need a lg cat litterbox for a 5 lb bun.

Get a letterbox with very high sides. She probably does not realize her “aim” is off. We have a female whose hobby was throwing her litter all over the cage. A high wall letterbox solved this.
