Litter training baby Spencer!

Hey everybunny! i have been trying over the last week to start litter training little Spencer. I know he is very young so he won’t be perfect just yet but i just wanted to get some advice.

At the moment the only lining in his cage is in his litter box and a old folded up shirt in a corner for him to sit on. I know it is best to have nothing other than the lining in the litter box but because he is so tiny and skinny i worry about him just laying on the cold hard floor. 

He is doing pretty well with his poops but he still pees in one corner and sometimes on the shirt he ‘sleeps’ on. However when i take the shirt away he only sleeps in the litter box and then pees on the floor sometimes. I always clean up as soon as i see he has had an accident and then i leave a bit of it on the tissue in the litter box so he can smell it.

Is there anything else or different you suggest i should do?

First of all, you have to make sure you are using a “bunny appealing” litter box. Is it big enough for him to lay down in comfortably and do you put hay on top of the litter? Hay entices bunnies to spend time in the litter box. They love to eat and go at the same time.

As for him peeing outside the box, have you tried moving the litter box to that corner? Most buns like to chose the spot where their litter box goes.

The litter box is pretty large and he often lays down it it. I put hay on top of one side of the litter box and then have some more hanging from a net above it.

That is a goo idea! I will move his litter box to the other corner and see if it helps Thanks!
