You are doing the right things! Keep it up! Use the tissues, rip off a piece and put it in the box and just put the rest in the bin.
I used rolls and rolls and rolls of tissue! Yikes!
I had to buy several boxes before they got the hang of it. I placed them in strategic places inside their cage and one big one outside the cage. In total I have 5 of them. But it was a trial and error adventure. Here’s my situation now:
1 square box in their bed. They go there late at night to sleep but don’t use it as a toilet. They keep it clean.
1 corner box on the second floor of their cage. Arya used to go there a lot. Now it’s not really used a lot anymore.
2 corner boxes downstairs on their main floor. I tried switching it with a square one but I have a technical issue with the downstairs floor. There is only a small opening in which I can push stuff through so a bigbox is not an option. I do get two corner boxes in there and they prefer it. I had a square box for in their but Frodo didn’t like it and peed on the floor. They use one of these the most, it’s their main toilet.
1 big square box outside the cage in their playroom. They use this a lot too!
They are young bunnies just like yours! But at 9 weeks they weren’t clean yet. Arya was clean very very quickly though. Then one day, out of the blue Frodo just stopped all the crazy peeing.
Hang on! Tey might still get there before you need to spay/neuter.
I’m dreading the day they get their hormones and lose their good habits again…
Here’s my current set-up. No doubt it will change again according to their needs. PS: I can’t avoid having poops spread here and there.
