Litter box training gone after neuter -something wrong?

Boston’s pain meds ran out yesterday and since then he has been peeing everywhere
Could it be pain related ? Infection related ? Or??
He’s eating and drinking normal
Ears slightly colder but not cold cold
He is laying down more than usual
Site looks good

Btw I have a vet appt for it at 3.15 but just incase vet isn’t sure what it is or incase I’m missing something I thought I would ask here if anyone has experienced this or heard of it so i know what to ask vet and can have the right things looked into…

He is drawing me up more metacam for him to take home when I leave appt but don’t want it out down to that if it could be something else that’s likely

Peeing outside the box after a neuter isn’t unusual. Their hormones are all out of wack and that can cause all sorts of undesirable behaviors until their hormones stabilize. We call it the post-neuter craze around here because bunnies go “crazy” with hormonal behaviors shortly after their neuter.

I took him in and vet said he is in pain – and not making it into the litter box because of the pain. He said he is very very bruised because of the rough neuter and gave him two more days of metacam
First dose was 2 hours ago and no wee outside of tray since
Poor lil guy must have been quite sore

Oh that is weird you say about a hormonal craze – we haven’t experienced this yet , both my boys are more mellow and cuddly than ever and I’m seeing no hormonal changes at all – we are 4 days post neuter , when does it usually hit? Maybe that’s still to come!!

That’s great! Yeah, if there was bruising down there, I can see why he might have an issue getting in there.

The craze comes on gradually, but the first signs usually begin to pop up as soon as they are feeling better post-neuter. Then it peaks a few weeks out. Everything typically settles down after ~6 weeks. It can be shorter or longer than that. Everybun is different. Severity varies as well. Some go crazy, crazy and some just experience a little bit of urge to mark or similar. I remember Wooly was chewing everything in sight after he was neutered. He event chewed a hole in my tote bag. He was peeing/spraying too. And crazy hyper. LOL

I’ve had one neutered before – my first bunny Levi who was a Flemish cross with a holland lop – beautiful fawn boy who looked like a mini Flemish

But he didn’t go through a hormonal craze so I had no idea it happens

Just popping in to say neither of my bunnies had a post neuter/post spay hormonal craze so it’s not guaranteed

That’s very true Sarah. It’s severity varies quite a bit. Some bunnies show no signs at all.
