  So, my bunnies habitat consists of his cage, which I’ve taken the doors off of, and an attached area which he has the ability to roam in. As he is pretty young, I decided to put an extra litter box outside of his cage. He quickly learned to use the litter box, however, he prefers to use the one outside of the cage (it’s probably 70/30). I was planning on getting rid of that one eventually, but… today I took that one out to clean it, thinking he would use the one in the cage if he needed to. However, to my surprise there was a big pile of poops where the extra litter box usually is when I returned.
  
  Does anyone have any suggestions? I really want him to use the one that’s in his cage.

  I think it is just a preference… I dont think its a litterbox preference more of a spot preference…

  That’s what I figured. It’s not the specific litter box that I want him to use, rather I want him to go in the cage to do his business. Should I move his cage onto that spot…?

  More than likely he will use the one in the cage if you do do that.

  yes, relocate his area and place the litterbox there. It definitely is the “spot” not the box. Bumpy was really bad about this same thing. I was thinking in the near future about downsizing his space, so I had tried to move his litterbox over toward the wall more, so when the pen came down, the box would be out of the way. I moved the box over 18inches.. and he still went to the original spot. Over the course of 2 months, I did manage to move it closer to the wall about a foot. But then his litterbox habits completely went downhill. I then completely took down his area and started over in a new area, 6 feet away, and downsized his pen. I did not let him out for almost a full day. Once I saw him go in his litterbox, he was allowed back to his mostly free-roam lifestyle.
  
  I think if you can relocate his area to incorporate the spot he’s already using, it will be the easiest for him and you both.

  Hi, I have the same type of question. My neutered male has been litter box trained almost 2 yrs. he has now started peeing in several spots around his room. His box is changed every couple of days and we have used a vinegar and water solution to clean it. Anyone have any suggestions?

  I think if you can relocate his area to incorporate the spot he’s already using, it will be the easiest for him and you both.
  
  Basically make his living space small enough so it is only in one of the spots he goes in, you can also try getting a second littlerbox and putting it in the spot he goes the most.

  Hmm something else I just read, that could be helpful to the OP as well. My Bumpy hates the vinegar and water cleanses. I would change his box every 2-3 days and clean the box and he, almost without fail, would go beside the box every single time. Putting pee soaked paper towel in the box did help some. Eventually I found that I would dump the entire contents of his box and wipe it all out with a few paper towels, but not actually “cleaning” the box. Once I started that, I stopped having the problem of him not wanting to use the box every time I changed it.
