Hi, I just adopted two beautiful female lionhead rabbits.  They are 7 weeks old.  We’re trying to find a way that we’ll be able to identify them in the future…right now one is definetely smaller and I’m worried as they get older that we may get them mixed up.  They are both the same color with no markings…any ideas???  are breakaway collars safe???

No, break away collars are not safe. I would say don’t worry about trying to identify who is who until they are older – I think you will be able to tell once their personalities develop and there may be changes in coloring, size, etc…once they age.

I had a friend who had 2 Jersey Woolies – same coloring and I couldn’t tell them apart but she could…their fur was a bit different – the texture and probably other things too, that I couldn’t tell.

They already have different personalities, its hard because the only visual diff right now is their size. Any ideas on litter training? I am a first time rabbit owner! They are so sweet and we all love snuggled with Zelda and Zorra!

                  Welcome! They are adorable

As far as litter training goes, do they usually do their business in one corner of the cage? You can start by clearing the bottom of the cage so there’s no bedding or anything, and putting a litter box + litter in their most commonly used corner. Bunnies tend to like to munch on hay while they do their business too, so to encourage them you can put their hay in/near the litter box.

Welcome! I just wanted to add a few comments, have you taken them to a vet to assure their gender? It can be very easy to misjudge the sex, and bunnies can breed as early as 3-4 months. Siblings will procreate too. They also don’t have a “season”, the act of procreation is all it takes for an accidental litter

You’re also going to want to watch close, I’ve heard of siblings growing up together and getting along fine, but its much more likely that they are going to get hormonal and fight, which can be scary and cause expensive vet bills.

Do you have photos? What are they eating? Where do they live?

Yes, that’s my little sable point lionhead, Dustor, in the pic when he was a babe. I also have a little Sport lionhead, Petie who looks totally different!
