Hello – new to this forum!
I posted this topic on another forum but would love some other opinions. — I bought my first bunny a few months ago. I was told it was a male and ended up with a litter of six babies a few weeks after! It was a really great experience – all six are healthy and grown up now. Most of them have gone to homes. However, we still have two of the babies with us – one boy and one girl. I let them out each night one at a time. My question is .. when is it OK to let the babies out while the mom is out and let them interact? They are 12.5 weeks old and have been weaned off the mom since 9 weeks old. Also, the mom was spayed a couple weeks ago so no chance of more babies! I tried letting each baby out with the mom a few nights ago, but the mom just started humping them. Does she need more time for her hormones to settle after getting spayed? Someone suggested that she may just be showing them who is boss – is this a possiblity?
I’d really love to be able to let them out together and have them start bonding, but I don’t want to push it if it is too soon for both the mom and babies. Thanks!
