I worked today because they asked me to keep the museum open and take a day off later. The rest of the staff had the holiday off. We will be closed Sunday and I’ll take Monday off.

But I have to work tomorrow because ART is serious stuff. We participate in community events, so the following announcement was on Craigslist for tomorrow. The judging will take place outside my (museum’s) front door. You gotta love a job like this:

Don’t miss the fashion event of the year as canines of all shapes and sizes take center stage in the Easter Bonnet Dog Parade on Saturday, April 11th at the Green Market. The Green Market is located  in the Arts District….Registration starts at 9:00 AM and a fee of $2 per dog will be collected to benefit “Animal Rescue Force of South Florida, Inc. The parade begins at 10:00 AM and the event is free to watch! Canines will show off their finery as the stylish parade concludes at the Square in front of the Museum where judges will award prizes based on the following categories: Most Original, Traditional and Funniest Bonnets, Most Tropical, Most Frou-frou, Tiniest Tea-Cup and Owner-Doggie Look-A-Like. We will have dogs and cats there for adoption. If you are volunteering, please be there between 8:00 and 8:30 AM. See you there!

I removed the location info. since I think we’re supposed to keep our homes and places of business private. I just thought you’d all get a kick out of it.

The other night here in Winnipeg the humane society had their annual Yappy Hour – cocktail party at one of the fancy downtown hotels. Tickets are something like $50, dogs get in free. Yes, they let the dogs in the fancy hotel. They do a different theme each year, this year’s theme was “Woofstock”. I haven’t been to one but it’s always sounded interesting.

LOL I wish I had a job like that! Actually what I’d love (I guess if there wasn’t a health risk exposing bunnies to each other) is like a bunny social event where we could all get together and let the bunnies play together -I just think that would be awesome!

It’s fun to watch, but my job is really standing in the museum doorway, wishing people would decide to come in. (But not the dogs.) I end up telling dozens of people where the public restrooms are.

K&K, some of the members here have socials they bring their bunnies to. Don’t even have a good shelter where I live, but that sounds like fun. Anything like that in your new home location?

This is my favorite. Elvis was up for adoption when he met this pretty girl.

Below: Mom wears spectacles, daughter wears shades.

                The parade.

The adoption agency brought a 2 day old kitten that had been rejected by its mother.

It was being fed by syringe.

Those little chihuahuas are hilarious  =P

hehe!^ I don’t know whether to feel sorry for them or not. Guess the dogs got out to socialise for the day so it’s all good.

Our guys put out two baby wading pools for any thirsty dogs (or overheated) in case of emergency, but they all seemed OK.
I’m not convinced that they find it as fun to dress up as their owners claim. But the 12 year old toy that won her category was high stepping quickly and looked very proud, so who can say.

I sent the pix of Elvis, the hound (1st pic) to their shelter, and they’ve already uploaded my photos of him on their website. Maybe it will help him find his forever home. What a sweetie.

Weirdly enough my sister’s pug is always really proud when he’s wearing his bow-tie collar. It’s hilarious to watch his smug-pug look LOL. SO I think some dogs do get a strange kick out of outfits.

Oh poor little kitty! 0_o Jeez, he looks like my old cat Fuzzy when he was a kitten! That brings back memories.
I have to say…I felt conspicuous enough just putting a warmup jacket on my Shadow when he had his fur shaved, and I know HE felt self-conscious. I could not in a seriousness dress a dog up like that, no matter the festivities…but they sure look cute! xD
