Does your bunny ever do this? Mine will rattle his x-pen and pulls himself up it to get my attention when he hears me around, so I usually open his door so he can come out but, he just runs all around his pen then lays down and watches me. If I try to close the door he gets up and grabs onto the door with his front paws like “NOOOOOOO, MOM! LEAVE IT OPEN!!!!!!!!” so I leave it open and he lays back down!

I usually give him the chance to run around in the morning, he will do it for about 10-20 mins then go back in his pen and go to sleep for the day. Then at night I leave it open for a few hours while I watch tv or use the computer and he will come out eventually and run around for maybe 30 mins then go back in his pen and lay down where he can see me.

Sometimes I feel guilty he doesn’t get as much exercise as he should but…… he is the one that wants to be in his pen all the time! It is a big cage (it could fit almost 3 full size cat boxes) with an x-pen. I think he just likes having the option to leave if he wants.

ROFL!!!! YES! Huckleberry likes to dig at her door until I let her out. She comes out for maybe 5 min and then she goes right back to her room. After 2 hours of her sitting in there, if I try to shut the door, she runs to it like “Hey! I was just about to come out there and hang with you, what’s your deal?!”

That is too funny. I’m sure Goblin gets enough run time. He sounds like a man who likes to have his options (and his door) left open.

That’s normal. If he’s trustworthy and you have a bun-proofed space, you might consider just leaving his door open all day. My buns will come and go as they see fit, altho at night they are penned up (I prefer this for safety reasons and my own sanity).

I usually recommend not opening the pen in response to rattling the door. Instead, open it at a set time.

Yes, except Penny does this in the middle of the night.
Penny wants to be like the cat — out and about and cageless 24/7.
We’re getting her a pen, soon.

Lol. Goblin just never knows when he might want a change of scenery, I guess. No doubt he’s pretty irresistible when he’s begging you to please open that door! Hodari only rattles her bars in the morning, when it’s time for me to get up. She must watch the clock because if I am a couple of minutes late getting up, she will rattle the door. She is magnanimous enough, though, to let me sleep a little longer if I call out: “Oh, Hodari, not yet please. I’m still sleepy.” Then she’ll wait ten more minutes or so before rattling the door again. She really seems to like her schedule, which means that if she’s OUT of her cage past the time when I usually make her go back in it, she will just go in it on her own and ask me for a treat.

BTW, Goblin looks so cute with little paws in his salad. That’s such a good picture.

Bunjamin’s been doing this too ever since he got upgraded to a big condo. He chooses to stay in when the door is open. And when we wake up but don’t let him out right away he’ll beg if he knows we can see but if not, (like we’re laying in bed awake) he starts tossing a paper towel roll really loud and that usually gets us up. I think it’s kinda cute though because he doesn’t play like that often.

I wish I could leave him out, the whole apartment is bunny proofed because I let him follow me around into all the rooms when I am cleaning but he still tries to dig the carpet sometimes ( he’s gotten a lot better though ).

Thanks, its my favorite picture, someone said I should print and frame it, hah.

Mine sort of do this. When I get home Hannah sits right against the fence, staring at me, until I open it. Once I open it she usually comes out and does a circuit of the living room, then goes back to her cage and lays down, watching me.

My buns don’t have a cage, but Stickers does chew / rattle her baby gate when she wants my attention. lol

Bwahaha, when Chacha used to live in an x-pen, she would move it with her teeth. She no longer does that, as she is free range.

Haha, Max is a “stare-er” also.  If I’m late getting up, he is planted firmly at the side of the pen, staring at me silently (I can see him from my bed if the door is open).  Same thing with breakfast or dinnertime.

Ah, the ol’ guilt stare. My bunnies use this tactic as well. Especially, Bindi.

Squirrel stares. He’ll periscope and stare at me until I go see what he wants. he’ll sit there for 10 or more minutes like that if I don’t go over right away, its adorable

What, me, ignore my master’s wishes just for more cuteness? Naaah…

Milo rattles his x-pen too! He figured out how to slowly push it with his mouth until he got it away from the wall and let himself out. It was quite surprising to be woken up one morning by him digging in the pillow my head was on. I had to rearrange his x-pen so that he can’t do that anymore! But I’m sure its just a matter of time till he figures out how to open it again… lol

Tait likes to turn his square x-pen into an x when he is locked in. Once it is like that he will leave it alone for days, but as SOON as I straighten it he has to start reconfiguring again.
