Basically, I bought my very first bunny about 5 weeks ago while I have not been working. She is about 5 months old roughly and it’s just her, there are no other rabbits. She lives in my conservatory (which has both heating and air conditioning) so the temperature is always right, it’s never too hot or too cold for her and the during the day the windows and doors are always open so theres plenty of fresh air in the room. She has this room to herself as we have two cats and a small dog (all of which are very good with the rabbit and they get on well but are never left unsupervised together just in case) but anyway my rabbit has full run of the whole conservatory, she has a large hutch in there but this is always left open so she’s free to come and go as she pleases and the conservatory backs out onto my large garden so during the day she spends 85% of her time outside free range as the garden is secure so she cannot escape.

She has become so accustomed to being able to spend her whole day outside in the garden over the past month since I first got her and it gives me so much joy to see her running around out there freely as I know so many rabbits cannot do that and are cooped up in small hutches. So I dedicated virtually most of my time to watching over her while she’s been outside as I have had some much time on my hands and the weather has been good, but now I need to go back to work and will be out 5 days a week from 8 in the morning until 6 in the evening and I just feel awful at the thought she will have to stay inside all the time after getting so used to being outside.

I have spent a small fortune on toys for her, numerous tunnels, hide away houses, treats, things to chew on, but she doesn’t show much interest in them and wait’s at the door to be let outside like a dog.

Has anybody had any similar scenarios as such happen to themselves or have anything they could share which would help? I would really appreciate it if so.

        Thank you!

Don’t feel bad – she is going to be just fine and much safer inside. My rabbit basically sleeps all day long when I’m not home and that’s what she will probably do as well.
