Leaving bunny at home when on vacation

We have had burfee(our sweet bunny) for 10 days , he is free roam bunny stays enclosed by a fence in our dining area when we are out and at night ,but other wise roams around during the day .he has bonded with us well .in few weeks we plan to leave on vacation for 3 days , we have 2 friends who will come for few hours a day to interact with him and feed him while he will stay enclosed in dining area ( 10ft x10ft). I am just worried if he will show any behavior changes when we come back due to missing interaction with us .has any one had such issues.

I’ve never had issues with behavior after having pet sitters, aside from extra binkys when we get home.

I think as long as he gets some run-around time each day, he will be fine. Are you comfortable with them letting him be free range while there are there? You can suggest that they feed him in the enclosed area when they are ready to leave so he goes back in.

Even if not, 10′ x 10′ is enough space, especially for a few days. Whenever we return from a trip, our buns are happy to see us, but don’t act too different from when we return from work each day. I do notice my buns tend to eat WAY more hay when we are gone, so be sure to have them top up his hay, and maybe give him some extra toys and things to chew to prevent boredom.

The main things to go over with your pet-sitters are health related. I also recommend having them go in the morning and/or evening, when bunnies are most active, to make sure he gets interaction and exercise when they are there. If they can come meet your bun before, and hand feed him in your presence, he might be less afraid of them when they come on their own.

I had to leave Thor at our apartment for a weekend a few months ago and had friends come to check on her. It worked out fine for us! Personally, I think for short vacations it’s not really worth stressing them out by moving them to a new place. The one thing I’ll say, is if possible, it is best to have them come twice a day. That way, in case there is a problem, you will catch it quicker than if they just come once a day.

3 days is not very long. I wouldn’t worry at all
