Hi everyone! I posted about this awhile ago, but I cant seem to put a stop to my issue.
Ever since I got Dizzie about a year ago, she has has tummy issues. Within the last 6 months, I have noticed an increase in her leaky butt.
I assume its coming from her bum because it is often accompanied by a pile of round, yet watery poops. I know its not the cecotropes…its completely different than that. It looks like a really wet version of normal poops. She leaves puddles or droplets if brown liquid in her wake…and while the mess sucks, I worry more about her.
I have taken her to the vet (my vet is amazing!!!!) and he tested her poo for bacteria and found nothing….twice.
He said he had never heard of this before, so he thought maybe she wasnt eating her cecotropes. He suggested we try giving her some benebac which i have been doing 2-3 times a week and still nothing changes. She was an abused rescue, so she is really weary about being picked up…I cannot, for the life of me, bunny burrito her so giving her any type of meds is tricky. I learned that if I put meds or benebac in baby food, she licks it right up. The leaky butt happens a few times a week. One minute she will be fine and the next she will be leaking!!
Her leaky butt doesnt seem to slow her down though. She is still all over the place, jumping and running around. She eats normally too…leaking or not, she doesnt have a problem eating. When she is not leaking, her poops are normal and she eats her cecotropes. She is on a diet of Oxbow Timothy hay and kale. She also gets 3 “cookies” a day…which are the Oxbow Digestive support and Immunal Support. These were suggested by my vet. Last night she was leaky, so I didnt give her veggies today. I refill her timothy hay everyday and she has a big bowl of water, which I see her drink out of quite a bit.
Any ideas as to what to try to help her, or something that might be wrong with her?
