I have some *phews* to lay down!!!

One was -I was nominated and chosen to receive an award at work-while a huge honour-as we are a large 5000+ society, it was stressful as I was expected to be at the ceremony, get on stage etc. And I’m shy!!! That was over few weeks ago *PHEW!*

Then I was helping put together a conference for internal and externals!! -a big stress as I was pulled in late to help!! A big phew that it was over this week!! I worked all last weekend with no break and no thanks-my schedule is very busy as is-and with this-I literally cried (Ok that’s me-I do not do stress well-I like to be early, I like to anticipate, I like to be prepared) -but it went well!!!

And I got a special email from our pres and CEO congratulating me on my award-and flowers for helping with confernce-so despite stress so bad I could taste it-I feel really good at standing out and being recognized-by the president and ceo -so many employees and she knows who I am!! I have to blush cry and bow-I’m just stunned and still…wow. So I’m collapsing from stress and from the spotlight this week!!  I don’t know how to feel except awesome because my holidays are coming up!!  And still still phewing!!! LOL So this is my big vent about the insane stress of the past few weeks !!  I don’t know how to correctly word this, as it likely sounds like a brag-for anyone who is not mortifyingly shy-but for me-umn crawl under a rock!! Wow stressful!!!

Thank you!!! I’m glad you read my cry!! I re-read and was worried it would sound like bragging-but anyone who knows me (i’m sadly shy!!!) knows I’m complaining and crying!!! LOL!! I’m pleased but so much more so that its over!

I’m shy too and like you I prefer to be prepared and early and anticipate. So I totally get it! LOL  We do NOT deal with stress well.

I so couldn’t have done that. Me + large crowds = not gonna happen. I can so understand the crying! Heck, we had a tiny wedding at my mom in law’s house cuz I am so not good in front of people. We had I think… 7 people total, plus us and the minister. And even that was stressful. My mom in law had to let me have a couple drinks first so I could even get in front of that few people.

I hope I never get an award!! lol

Congrats for making it through, and for the award

LOL its nice to know I’m not alone! It was funny after-friends stopped by my table ‘Lesley!! You didn’t trip on stage!!” -see not only am I shy big time-but even more of a klutz lol!

Ahhh great idea on the small wedding!!! I think-no I know….that is what is holding me back…I know some girls dream of their big day…me thats a nightmare-being the centre of attention all day! ZOMG!!! Seven people sounds almost doable lol Or-a secret wedding with a big party after and no speeches lol

Well being an only child, believe me, the spotlight was always on…sometimes it was bearable, most often not so much. I also got kinda schnockered at my wedding, because I was just so nervous about the whole thing even though it was small. I am mortally afeared of doing something to embarrass myself I think because I was always picked on at school. The last thing I wanted to do was stand out.
However I used to love to perform also (singing or playing piano) and so when advertisements start coming on TV for this new X Factor thing my mind briefly plays with the idea of going on…but meh…why put myself through that at my age?
I’d just love to see what Simon thought of my voice…or what’s left of it…lol.
Congrats to you on getting through all the hassles, K&K! ^_^ Kudos on the award and not tripping over anything!

Oh that’s so neat your thinking about going on!!! Being shy I don’t think it’s fair of me to say to someone else ‘do it’ because I couldn’t myself-but hey-if your thinking of it….well I stand behind you!! You should if you want to!!

K&K, that’s great! It’s always awesome to be recognized for your hard work

Mimz, that’s awesome that you considered going on the show! Personally I would love to hear you sing . I did a lot of musical performance/competitions as a child too (on violin and piano) and would always get REALLY nervous even after years and years of it. Funny thing is, I have absolutely no fear of speaking in public – I think it’s kind of fun, actually! I was quite active on my high school forensics/debate team, so I guess constant thinking on my feet/running my mouth in front of a judge and some audience cured me of public speaking fright pretty quick!

That’s awesome!! I had to do quite a bit of it in University-so I did toastmasters and did their speechcraft course. It still destroys me to publically speak. But for work somehow I can do it-with no fear-when I have to?? Weird !

Congrats getting that award! It’s wonderful that people have recognized that you did something great. I’m pretty shy when talking in front of people as well. I’m a little better, only because I can talk now instead of just being stuck with fright, but I tend to babble.

It’s a wonderful thing when people are recognized for the hard work they do. That is not done enough in companies these days. In my opinion, corporations don’t take enough time to truly make their workers feel valued. So many are such number crunchers and bean counters and if they see profits fall within a quarter, they start laying off people. But if people really felt like their work, whether it’s white collar or blue collar, that their efforts made a difference, I think it would result in dedicated loyal hardworking employees. It sounds like you work for a company that notices your efforts. Don’t be shy in celebrating all of the wonderful contributions you have made. So do brag a little!

I do understand though, once when I won an award back in my old local broadcasting days, while most people gave their long speeches and thank yous, it was my first award and I was terrified. All I did was say…”THANK YOU!” and I hurried off the stage, except I ran in the wrong direction, and was escorted to the other side of the stage. Everyone laughed, but at the after party, everyone came up and said, “That was the best speech of the night”. So was able to take it in stride. I still feel so grateful for that whole experience, and you should be so proud of yourself for all you have done. CONGRATULATIONS!

Awww thanks all!!! I am proud-it was a big project and my idea-but scary to be recongized in that venue And here! Oh my gosh you guys are all so supportive!! XD

That’s why I work there-that is one of the strategic goals from the board this year-step up employee recognition. I’ve never felt so at home, cared about and for then here. It’s not my preferred job or in my line of work-in fact my mom saw a psychic years ago who said I would work in health care and I scoffed as it’s so not my thing!! But it’s turned out to be-it’s just such a fantastic place to work where they do-say please and thank you and sorry and good job. I don’t care what I do -so long as it’s in an enviornment like that!
