I have two rabbits, I just received a new one from the pet store. He looks really young but he can eat solid food. Today is the second day of having him and whenever I see him he is laying down and will only really be active when I try to pick him up. He is eating, drinking, and pooping fine. Are there any other signs I should look out for or is he just lazy ?

You’ve only had him for two days, it’s hard to see his personality straight away. Keep track of his behaviour for the next couple of weeks. Some bunnies are just less active than others. Make sure she is eating pooping and drinking though.

If he looks really young, he could be too young to be weaned from the mom. Pet stores are pretty notorious for weaning baby buns too early. I suggest bringing the baby to a rabbit savvy vet – they would be able to estimate his age and tell you what his diet should be like.

Baby bunnies weaned too early usually have a compromised immune system and can develop health issues easily. They need the appropriate care.

You’ve had him for 2 days. You’re not going to know his personality or his activity levels yet.

That said, you should take him to the vet anyway for a thorough health check.
