  Not sure if I’ve seen this mentioned on the forum before or not, but my vets (which are very rabbit-savvy) recommend a 28 day course of Lapizole to prevent E.Cunculi from developing.
  
  I think they said its a fairly new development but so far it’s been very successful. This is what the website says:
  
  “This parasite has recently found to be very common in the rabbit population; over 50% of animals have been infected, usually from their mother. In many cases the rabbit shows no signs but the parasite can attack the brain and urinary system. Rabbits can develop head tilt, paralysis and kidney disease, this disease can be fatal and unfortunately by the time the signs develop it may be too late.
  
  We recommend treating all rabbits with a course of Lapizole. This is a tasty aniseed flavoured liquid, which rabbits seem to love. A 28 day course of this very safe drug has been shown to clear the parasite.”
  
  I think I’ll probably go for it, but I’m just wondering of anyone else has any experience of this or an opinion on it.
  
  So has anyone tried it or have an opinion on it or know how much it is…?

  If so, i suggest a search for feedback on forums or message boards with a larger uk based membership.
  
  I know from reading such forums that UK rabbit owners tend to use panacur as a precaution more readily then owners in other regions. Lapizole has same active ingredient.
  I think (don’t know for certain) because rabbits are such a common outdoor pet there, that deworming is often part of standard care routines.

  I don’t know if it’s a UK product but the vets recommend it for all rabbits, not just outdoor ones.
