Just got my bunny..

Hey everyone! I just got my bunny about two weeks ago and am new to all this. I’m getting the hang of it though anyways, it’s been two weeks and I still can’t find a name for bunny haha. Im hoping you guys could help me? I don’t even know if its a girl or a boy. It is probably a month old. Attached are some pictures. I want a name that is unique and funny if possible (doesn’t have to be though). I was thinking about Destiny is a girl but im kinda iffy about it. Do you guys have any ideas?

Why did you get him at 4 weeks old? That’s a big no no. They have to stay with their litter until they’re at least 8 weeks old. What are you feeding him? Was he weaned when you got him? Could you give him back until he’s old enough?

I just reread your post, you said you’ve had him for two weeks, so was he actually 2 weeks old when you got him?

I have to agree with Hazel. 4 weeks is WAAAAY too young to be away from momma. If he is that young he should probably be on a different diet than what a normal young rabbit is on. As Hazel asked, what have you been feeding him??

I know you said he’s ‘probably’ a month old — are you not sure of the age? How did you acquire this adorable little fur ball?

I don’t know how old he is but from the research I’ve done he seems to be probably 1-2 months. I didn’t get him when it was 2 weeks. I think it was like a month at least when I got it. I’m feeding it alfalfa hay as well as Timothy pellets. So what should I name it? And what type of bunny does it look like?

Sometimes people aren’t always honest about how old an animal is when they re-home, adopt or sell. Where did you get your bunny from?

I’m no expert but I’d think your bunny looks 6-7 weeks, should have been with mom a bit longer (8 weeks is of course the minimum for mammals to be with mom so they can learn proper behaviour and get all the benefits of nursing and socialization)-it’s unfortunate whomever you got your bunny from wanted to sell/adopt/rehome so young. It would be very important for you to keep a very close eye for any health issues as such a young baby is vulnerable-you’ll want to watch for any eye or nasal discharge, and make sure he/she is eating, drinking, peeing, and pooping -pretty much constant eating and pooping, drinking and peeing is often. Feel Free to ask as many questions about normal health status as you learn about your rabbit, so you can make sure he/she is healthy and decide if he needs an urgent vet visit.

As for a name…welll until you know the sex for sure it’s hard, but he’s definitely a black dutch rabbit-dutch rabbits are incredibly smart and very good looking bunnies. With the colors I’d almost think a ‘james bond’ name is in order-you know for like a pun on the tuxedo look. Like, James, Bond, Tux, Ace (of spades) ..etc

Well one day I was Petco buying supplies for my boyfriends Pacman Frogs and there was another customer looking at the reptiles. He had that bunny and another all white one which was bigger than the one I got. He said they were for sale and I absolutely fell in love with the babby one. I bought it from him but he didn’t tell me anything. He just said he didn’t know its gender and said how to care for it. It eats poops and drinks all the time. My bunny is very healthy
Since I don’t know it’s gender I was thinking about naming it Binky hahah. Because it always does the twitching movements as well as the bunny 500s.

I’m thinking the name Marcel lol.
I think once you’ve spent more time with him you’ll settle on a name. Most the time mine get called by their nicknames anyway!

He looks like a dwarf mix at the moment but to me, all rabbits look like dwarf breeds when really young.
He does have Dutch markings so could be a very young Dutch bunny also.

So a customer brought them into Petco? That’s cheeky.
Pretty sure Petco doesn’t sell rabbits themselves now. I think people do try off load animals in car parks near pet shops. :\
No matter now, this buns got itself a family now. I hope the Binky Bunny site helps you learn how to care for it and become a rabbit salve for life.
