so ive been searching for my cell since sunday…
i was getting really paniced… when i realized it was missing i called it, and my batterie was dead.
.. well i found it, i had washed it with my laundry, i was sooo upset i almost cryed..
my family isnt the richest.. i saved soo hard to get the money to pay for my sim card and a plan, i got the phone as a hand-me-down from a friend, now i have to pay fo everything AGAIN! and the little money i do have im saving for hershey and twix’s spays…plus i want to get the nic grids for cages, and hersheys water bottle broke so i have to get a new one, i need new chothes, need new school supplies, and worst my cat needs to go to the vet… shes losing fur on her belly (my mom doesnt really belive in vet care unless an animal is like dyeing or has a really bad cut or is sick.
so i took the phone apart and put it on the register all night and all day, charged it when i got home and just tryed it…. it wont turn on
so now i dont have a phone, meaning i have to get a new one and i cant afford it! im just sooo sad ![]()
WHY CANT TEENS GET JOBS!!??
R.I.P. FIDO (my phone)
I never had a cell phone until I was about 20… lol. And then when I went to alaska for half a year, i forgot the charger for it… so it died. and then I never got a new one again until maybe 3 months ago. so that was another 5 years without a phone. you can live without it, trust me
I only have the phone now so my hubby wont worry when I’m driving somewhere without him ![]()
i go to my dads an hour away every other weekend and my phone is vital for communication, especially with my grandma being at the end now. so its very important for me to communicate with my mom
Ahh yeah, thats a good reason to have one ![]()
Doesn’t your dad have a land line in his home for you to use?
he does but were never home.
This might be too late but try putting the cell phone in a bag with rice…..it’s a weird idea but it works! Had it happen to my husband’s phone and after doing that it worked. But since it’s been awhile the cell might not work then. Just have to find a right job I guess….maybe like a newspaper route or something. We have a baseball stadium (not major league or anything) and teens can work the concession stand (I think you have to be at least 15 though, but I’m not sure).
Sometimes I wish I was back in high school, you wouldn’t know it then but life is actually a little easier then ![]()
OH nooo. I been trying to get a new one but things just keep happening like with Pinky the laptop and so on.
At least mine works. The cover is loose fromme twirling it around on my finger by the strap and it flew off my finger and into a brick wall.
Wont’ be doign that again
Drat washing it. Yeah they don’t like that. I hope it gets easier for you
oh, I don’t even want to think about all of the things I have washed!
My cell phone was free. But, that could be cause I was getting a new phone plan.
Is there any one you know who is thinking about upgrading for their phone and might give you the old one?
If your parents consider a cell phone so “vital” for you would they pay for it?
Here in Colorado kids earn money by shoveling side walks, raking leaves, yard work. Any thing like that you could do?
You might not need to shell out a lot for a new phone. Try visiting your service provider and see whether you can get a free or cheap phone by extending your contract with them. I’ve done this multiple times by signing up for my plan for another two years.
I used to drop my cell phone in water all the time. If that happened, I immediately took it apart and used a blow dryer on it.
Are you old enough to get a job at McDonald’s or some other unglamorous place? They are usually pretty good about hiring teenagers.
no im under 15 and theres not enough snow to shovel.. it hastnt snowed in awhile.. its just,… here. well good news, my sim card works.!!!!
Sorry to hear about “Fido”. That sucks.
I would do as Billie suggests. A lot of cell service providers will give you a free or cheap phone if you get a new or extended contract. I got a $300 for free when I signed up at my local service provider.
You can also try sites like Craiglist. Sometimes you can get a used phone for pretty cheap.
yeah, i posted an add on kijiji, i have a sim card thats on a plan so all i need is the phone…
Unfortunately you have to be at least 18 to enter a contract for a cell phone plan unless your parents add you to their account.
When I was in my early teens I babysat a lot. I always had money. Maybe you could do that, or pet sitting in your neighborhood or something.
I’ve sent my phone through the washer and I’ve also had it fall out of my pocket and land in the toilet. I’m very thankful for insurance…lol
It might come back to work again. When I washed my cell phone, I dried it by using speedvaccum in my lab. If you couldn’t find one, a hairdryer also works. The key things are, first, dry it completely, and, second, never turn it on before it compeletely dried. I did once, the battery was dead but the phone was functional untill I wahsed it another time… So, you might try another bettery if you can borrow one. ( no necessary to buy since we’re not sure if the phone is good ). Keep my fingers crossed!
it still wont turn on, i had it over the register for one night then put it in a bag of rice for about 3 days and still nothing sooo. its dead
Well, this is a dumb question, but since you said the battery was dead when you tried to call it, is the battery still dead? Did you try charging it?
OOoohhh you said you did. lol sorry for not reading carefully
I know how you feel though
Growing up my family didn’t have a lot of money, so I pretty much paid for all my clothes and personal hygiene stuff and school supplies and pet supplies and whatnot by doing farmwork for my grandparents. Are you near any farms that might hire you for odd jobs? Usually they don’t care about age as long as you work hard.
Now I’m 20 and I have my own apartment and go to college full time. I also have 2 part time jobs lol. It doesn’t really get any easier, but it does get better, I promise. I’m broke but I can cover all the basics, which is all I really care about. Except a tv. Still saving up for that one!
Cheer up and try not to stress about things you can’t control.
thanks guys… well for now i put an add on kijiji for a free fido phone and have had a few replies from people saying they have one they can give me.
