So busy this month!  We move on June 9 to my grandparents, June 10 is my birthday, then we start to build our new house (our new house is next door to my grandparents)!

To be honest, I can believe 2012 is half over, I feel as if it should be 2013! We have had the most CRAZY 6 months in my life that seemed like it lasted a whole year! I can’t wait until it all calms back down again!

I have had some knee problems and wasn’t able to be in my dance recital and it isn’t getting better. I got a brace a few days ago and if it doesn’t get better in 3 weeks I have to have an MRI. Which I am closterfobic and I am terrified of the thought of it! I have 45min of exercises ever night!

I am done with school for the year! I am still doing my math and science because I thought I would get ahead for next year, but my mom says she is done being my teacher until next year. haha. I can pretty much do all of my school on my own anyways though.

Mocha, if they MRI your knee, you most likely wont have your head in the machine. I’ve had a ton and most MRI machines are built so that the object being scanned goes in all the way so if you were having head or something on your upper body you would go in all the way. Now, don’t quote me on this because I’m sure there are different types of MRI machines and height has something to do with it but everyone I know (plus me like a bajillion times) has not had to go all the way in the machine for MRI of the knee.<< Hope this helps!

I can’t believe it’s already June. I was just thinking about trying to figure out what classes I’m going to take in the Fall. I’m thinking about taking more than usual (more than 12) so I can hurry this thing up and get out of school already It might mean less time with Bunjamin though

So I have exciting news… Some of you may know I’m renting a place with a no pet policy so I have to be super careful and worry about them finding Bunjamin. Well.. my dad decided he wanted to buy a house down here for my mom and his eventual retirement home and he’s putting an offer on a condo (worked out better). If he gets this condo, Andy and I will pay rent to him (it will be cheaper! yay!) and Bunjamin might be able to finally get a friend, if he wants. So I’m looking forward to that! I could be moving soon

I’m looking into joining a community college this fall. I’d like to get some basic classes out of the way before I go to a 4-year college in a couple years. That means a fun summer full of studying for me, though, since I’d have to be at a 12th grade level in several subjects to get in.

I’ve been super busy all week. My sister and her two kids are visiting in a few days and we’ve been tidying up the house for them. I’m mostly just worried about my 1.5 year old nephew hurting the bunnies…or, just as bad, my 10 year old niece finding some way to release/hurt my pet mice. I might need to put a better lock on my door.

Don’t worry mocha Only your bottom half will be in there, and often they give you a headset with music playing so you don’t even hear the machine at all. Just close your eyes and listen to the music I’ve had 2 done on my knee now, and both times were the same, even though at different places.

FF: Ah, so you too have landlords that don’t particularly care for bunnies. When I told my landlord I wanted to get a bunny they said that was perfectly fine, but that I had to keep it caged 24 hours a day because a previous tenant had a bunny and it was “a disaster” (to quote my landlady). I quickly agreed so that I could get Cinnabun, and but secretly laughed and said “yeah…not happening.” I have to be super careful whenever I need them to come over and fix something in the apartment (which thankfully isn’t often). I hide all her boxes and make it look like she stays in her Xpen all the time.

For anyone who did IB, I just did my I.O.C today. Whew. I’m so glad it’s over. I could not sleep last night and I felt so nervous that I decided to stop jumping in my riding lesson last night because I couldn’t focus. After my teacher left me in the room alone I cried a little, almost everyone did at some point haha. Also got my music final done too! Now I have the rest of my finals (including an english final, so unfair because of the I.O.C) next week and I still need to get about half of the things I need for Japan. I’ve also got a lot of stuff to do with Strauss before I leave to0. Everything is so busy, I’ll be able to relax finally when I’m on the plane (4:30 a.m. though).

Bunjamin was snoozing in his cage just now, flopped, and he started laying back and was pretending to chew hay or something. I tried to get a pic but he sat up when he saw camera… it was so cute!

FrankieFlash: Haha sorry! IB is kind of like higher level AP, but it has very specific qualifications that all IB students need to do to get their IB diploma (like the IOC), a couple people here I know have done the program. The IOC is an internal oral commentary, basically I went into a room and my teacher handed me an Elizabeth Bishop poem that I’d never seen before and I had to analyze it orally for 8 minutes, then he asked me questions on it for 2 minutes, and then for the next 10 minutes he asked me questions on Hamlet (but going into the room I didn’t know if he was going to ask me about Hamlet or Mrs. Dalloway) and you’re supposed to use certain literary techniques. All the while you know you’re being recorded and that it’s going to be sent off somewhere. Sorry that was a long explanation!! I’m so bad at speaking in front of people, it felt so awkward!

When my dad and I were apartment searching, one of the questions we had was “Do you allow rabbits?” Back when we signed the lease, the apartment did, as long as ‘it was a caged animal.’ CAGED MY BUTT HA HA HA. Anyways, one of the ladies at the apartment office said that rabbits aren’t allowed, and the landlord/manager actually had to correct the other lady.

Dogs and cat owners have to pay a rent for their animal. Chacha does not

Wow, everyone has so much stuff going on! FrankieFlash, that is awesome! Not having to worry about rent so much is always a good thing. bunnyfriend, I have no clue what that stuff is, but congrats on doing well. Is it sort of like a gifted program? I know now, where I live, they have more intense courses for gifted kids and also after school stuff. Mocha, I bet that is really exciting! What’s fun about building your own house is you can customize it just the way you want. Your parents probably have everything picked out already. Did you get to help at all?

Eek, I’m apartment hunting right now, which is not very fun. However, now that it’s summer and I’m just doing research for the next couple of months, it feels amazing to work 9-5 and come home without worrying about studying 24/7. I feel like I finally have time to cook, keep my place clean, and take care of myself…things I haven’t been able to do in ages.

bunnyfriend, I didn’t even remember the IOC until you explained it – I guess I forget a lot in 10 years! Haha. Congrats though! I remember all of the tests and things were super stressful. In comparison the AP tests I took were a breeze.

I can’t believe the year is half over either! Yesterday my department did our annual rafting trip on the Delaware River. It was a lot of run, though it was pretty chilly and windy which wasn’t great for swimming. Because of the wind it took two hours longer than last year – crazy! Most of it is a pretty lazy float down the river, but we had to do some actual paddling because of the wind. It was also bittersweet because it was the last day for one of the girl in the group. She’s right out of college and has only been here a year, but her boyfriend moved up to Vermont and our boss got her a transfer to our site there so she could join him. I’ll miss her – she was fun and it’s always nice to have more girls around (there are so few in engineering). I was exhausted last night – a day of drinking beer in the sun is tiring. I ended up sleeping for 12 hours! haha

I’m getting excited about getting a puppy! I’ve been talking with a breeder since November and her dog just had puppies a couple days ago. I still don’t know how many there are or if I’ll definitely get one (though I am on the waiting list) so I’m excited to get more info. I’ve wanted a dog for 6 years now, so I hope this works out! I can’t wait til she posts pictures of the little guys.

I have my temporary job starting on Monday. I’m not looking forward to it. I guess it is just temporary though. I wish I wasn’t so desperate for money. This was the only thing I could find. =(

LBJ10: I’m not really sure how it works with other schools, my teacher says how rigorous it is depends on what school you go to, but to get into mine I had to take a 3 hour long exam, write an essay, and take an IQ test. So I think everyone can take IB, but you have to really want it to finish Diploma Programme I’m sorry this job is not really what you want, I hope things get better soon.

It isn’t horrible, I guess. I am probably still upset about my failure in getting an internship that would give me the experience I so desperately need. But I need money and this was all I could get after applying for a zillion jobs. It is just more useless, irrelevant experience.

bunnyfriend – I have never heard of that, but things were different now way back when. A girl I was mentoring was in some sort of gifted program, but I’m not sure what she had to do for it.

bunnyfriend – that’s really neat, shoot for that +3!  I like sciencey things too obviously lol. I remember writing mine on the psycholinguistics of second language acquisition, and my little sister (who I think is either your age or a year younger) is writing hers on something having to do with German wartime propaganda in the 40’s, though I don’t remember exactly what about it.

Mocha – How fun! It’s always exciting when you get to pick stuff out for your room. When I was a kid, we moved to this house that had awful carpet. My parents decided to buy new carpet for all the rooms and they asked me what color I wanted for my room. Of course, I said purple! Gosh, that was the prettiest bedroom I ever had!

I’m getting used to the whole not getting a job in what I want to do thing. I’ve just learned now not to get my hopes up. It’s not happening.

LBJ, there’s no need to say that it’s not happening! It may not happen immediately, but it’s still very possible for you to eventually find a job in your expertise…I think it’s hard for everyone now to find a job, much less one in a specific field.

LBJ, I’m sure it sucks now, but eventually you’ll end up in a job you want! Even if it’s not exactly what you thought you would do, you’ll find something that’s right for you. Never in a million years did I think I would work in semiconductors, but I really like it now.

bunnyfriend, no idea when I’ll hear. Since I’m on the waiting list, I’m assuming that if she has a normal sized litter (her last two were 6 pups) that I’ll get one, so I’m waiting patiently for her to post pictures on her site. I want to email her and bug her about it, but I don’t want to be a pest, especially since she’s probably really busy with the puppies right now.

LOL this is what I say too.  Just gonna stay in school forever!  It’s going to be at the very least 7 more years before I start job hunting, and quite possibly even longer.  On the downside, it means 7 more years before I actually have a reasonable income…siiigh.

It’s funny, but DH would actually sort of like to go back for his PhD. I don’t think I’d make it through a program with my sanity, but he would be good at it and our company pays sooo much more for a PhD (event though you do the same job as the people with undergrad degrees). He never went back because once you make a good income and depend on it, you can’t imagine being a poor student again. Too bad he didn’t go for it right after school.

I bought a 55 pound bale of compressed 2nd cut Orchard grass a week ago. I put parts of it inside of the containers I keep hay in, and my allergies to dust flared up: watery eyes, itchy eyes, runny nose, my throat felt like it was closing. It was quite scary I survived. It is weird – the dust of the hay just knocks me on my feet, but when I take hay from the container, I’m fine.

Good news about the hay: Chacha’s poopies are hugeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee…….

This is the last week of regular classes, and next week is finals week. I have 3 finals. Yuck.

It made me laugh hearing all the stores of people BREAKIN DA RULEZ in their apartments with their “caged” rabbits. Good to know I’m not the only one that does a mad dash to clean up the evidence that Zeus reigns over the whole aparment, LOL.

Just want to vent a bit.

Ugh. I found out today that we’re not getting a puppy. Apparently the mother dog had a very small litter, so most people on the waiting list won’t be getting one. I’m so disappointed! I’ve been waiting six years to get a dog (and first emailed this breeder last November) and the time is finally right, but it’s just not working out for me.

The breeder has a couple friends with dogs who are going to have litters this fall and she’s referred me to them, but their reservation lists are filling up fast. I’ve talked to one and she’s already very concerned about the rabbits and is basically recommending I only look at toy dogs. *sigh* I know there are risks, but I’ve been planning this for a long time and I have the knowledge and ability to train the dog to get along with the rabbits. They have their own room anyway, so it’s not like interaction between dog and rabbits is required. It’s just disheartening that I found a breeder and dog I really like, and now I have to start over, wait many more months, and work with someone who already thinks I’m not the right home for her dogs. I emailed her with more details in what I want in a dog and how it will be managed with the rabbits, but I haven’t heard back from her yet, so I don’t know if I’ve changed her mind at all.

I know that going through a shelter is always an option, but I have personal reasons for wanting a puppy from a knowledgeable breeder.

I had an eventful day. I seriously don’t know how I’m handling all of this. Basically, a strange man was trying to talk/flirt with the girls in my group. I told him twice to go away, but he kept pursuing them. Even following us at one point. I took them into a building and called the police to tell them they need to keep an eye out for this guy.

I have unfortunate news. While visiting my parents, my dad tells me that him and the relator had a miscommunication and she never started the paper work to put the offer on the condo. And he’s now decided to wait and look at more houses. So tomorrow we are doing really fast viewings at 6 more houses in a different city :/ I’m just nervous that he’s going to wait too long and I won’t have a place to live when this lease is up. I guess I have to go back to pricing out nearby apartments just in case.

FrankieFlash – There isn’t much they can do now. If we see him again though, they will know to come right away if I call since there will be a previous history. I’m just worried because we will be at this location a lot. The students are middle school aged, he had no business trying to talk to them.

So puppy things are looking a little better. The breeder I was working with does only have one litter a year (she only has two dogs and one is retired), but she referred me to two other breeders. At first the one didn’t think the breed was a good fit because of the bunnies, but I think I won her over. There are two litters being born in August and I might be able to get a puppy from one of them. If that doesn’t work, between the two of them and other co-owns there will be another litter or two within the next year and I can definitely get one of those. So now I have to be patient until August and see if I get one of those puppies. I hate the waiting!

I’m kind of set on the breed too. I originally wanted a brittany, but I never found a breeder I liked so I don’t want to look at them again. The only other breed I really love, flat coat retrievers, have a really high rate of cancer and I couldn’t deal with that, so welsh springer it is.

Elrohwen I understand what you mean about retrievers. We had a pure-breed golden retriever that passed away at 6 years old from liver cancer. It was terrible. I wish you good luck with the August liter!

I know, we all loved her so much. We have a golden/chow mix though that has way less health problems and is a stubborn old lady at the age of 11. But she gets away with it because she’s cute And my vet said my dog, Lucy who is black lab mix could live to be 15+. I guess different breed have different life spans. I was amazed when I found that out.

15+ is a long time for a largish dog! I had schnauzers growing up and out of four, one lived to 10 and one lived to 16 which was a huge range (the one who died at 10 didn’t have any recognized health issues either – just had a heart attack I guess). Then again, they were all BYB dogs so who knows if their parents/grandparents/etc were healthy.

If you have public speaking anxiety, the latter doesn’t seem like it would be too bad. I’m doing cancer research this summer, and some of the samples/data I’m using are ovarian cancer…reminded me of you and your cause .

I was shocked by that number too. Especially since Lucy is overweight by over 10 pounds. She’s about 85 lbs I think. And she’s gotten more health problems from her weight too so I guess that makes his number more shocking. Her other health issues would resolve if she lost weight. (yes she’s on a diet BUT she sneaks around my mom and eats cat food, bird food, etc.) Pictures included for giggles and references :

Chacha, most of my research isn’t handling actual samples..that’s just a side project that I’m helping out with. I have very little patience (or skill..) with actual lab research haha. It drives me nuts!! My project is evaluating the usage of different regimens of radiation therapy to treat pain in patients who have had cancer metastasize to their spine, and how it affects their quality of life (among other things).

Peppy – Oh my gosh, yes, I know exactly what you’re talking about! When I was in undergrad, my husband was always worried about me if I was on campus late. There was this one guy in particular that loitered around campus. He was definitely someone to be afraid of. My husband made me get a car alarm and I always had to call him as I was leaving campus (i.e. walking to my car) if it was after dark. I was there at night on a regular basis since we had club events and stuff I wanted to attend.

DH and I have started playing this game with Hannah, because if you pet her, she’ll stay still no matter how many things you pile on top of her. We’re calling it “Stuff on my Mer”, since her nickname is The Mer (holdover from her original name of Merlin). I think I really need to start taking pictures and post a Stuff on my Mer photo bomb.

He wants her to have her own room. I told him that we will need to budget things when the time comes I’m very frugal and like to save money. In my experience, I want to live within my own means. He knows that it is a deal breaker if the places do now allow rabbits, and he is fine with that.

 

Ugh, I got sick on Wednesday! What a great way to spend my first day on summer break from school  I’m getting better, and I called in sick today from work. The person that answered the phone was not happy, but hey, I’m not getting my customers sick ..

This morning, I had a bag of craisins next to me. she runs off with it, and I say “KOUCHA BUN!!!!!!” You know, you say a person’s given name when you are mad at them, lol. she drops the bag of craisins, but not without the craisins raining all over the place! As I pick up the craisins, she starts to come closer and closer like “Craisin for me? Please?” So i gave her one I’m such a sucker.

ChaCha, that sounds good! I have a friend who is obsessed with cake vodka and is always trying to make us do shots of it. lol I’m not a hard alcohol fan, but I do admit it’s pretty tasty!

So, it looks like we might be back on for a puppy! I’ve been in touch with another breeder and her dog is going to be bred soon, for a due date around Labor Day. I was hoping for a summer puppy, not a winter one, but I guess it doesn’t get really cold until January so that would give me a couple months (assuming the puppy is ready to go home around Halloween). We’re going down to Jersey to meet her and the dog this Saturday. Wish me luck! Hopefully things will work out for me this time.

Work is pretty crazy. My boss has me working on a whole new thing which he expects me to “lead” after only learning about it for a couple days. Eek! I’ve never worked in development, only manufacturing, so it’s a whole new thing to me. I think most people understand that I don’t know what’s going on and I’m there to learn and take on some of the work load, but I hope my boss understands that. I’ve been friends with him for 6 years now, and he always has such a cavalier attitude about stuff like this – “Oh, you’ll be great. Much better than that last guy they had. Don’t worry.” I’m not sure if I should sit him down and tell him I am kind of freaking out, or give it a couple weeks and see how I feel then. It’s definitely a good opportunity to learn a lot of new things, I just don’t want to be in the position where they think I’m going to be running the show right away and I feel completely lost.

So besides me working non-stop on rescuing this bun I also got a bunch of more work this week. It’s a little bit of everything- beads, hair, selling stuff, and adult-sitting. I’ve known this family a long time and I call their grandma, grandma toni so they hired me (I’ve done it before) to sit with her a bunch of nights they have to do stuff outside the house. She has dementia and really bad short term memory loss so they don’t like her to be alone so she doesn’t set house on fire or wander away from house and get lost. Anywhoo, this means money will be better. Just in time too- bunjamin was low on hay.

And I’m afraid to jinx it but my dad put another offer on another house. Thursday after I drop of the rescue bun, I have to meet him at this house for the inspection. Only bad news is we have less than a week from occupancy of the new house to the end of our lease if we get this house :/

Does anyone here do yoga? I might go to a beginner Ashtanga yoga class tonight, since they have a very reasonable student-rated class fee. I’ve been thinking that I really need to find some regular form of exercise (even if yoga isn’t initially as intense as some other things)…I feel like such a hypocrite having next to no regular physical activity on a daily basis heh. I’ve only done yoga a few times before, though never regularly, but I remember it being pretty fun.

My ribs hurt like hell the next day, and I couldn’t move very much, but I kept on doing it. As long as you have a good instructor, you will enjoy it. The instructor that I go to does modifications of poses if a person is not able to do a certain pose all the way. She said that in her class “There are no expectations or competitions. We are here to honor our bodies.”

Ack, just wrote a whole post and then closed the window before submitting.

So last night was awful. It’s in the upper 90s here all of a sudden and our air conditioning decided to not work (this is the first time we’ve turned it on this year). The fans in the attic were blowing hot air around, but the compressor wouldn’t turn on so it was 87deg in the house. The bunnies were absolutely miserable and I felt so bad for them 🙁 Around 9:30 we decided it wasn’t getting any cooler, so we moved the bunnies and ourselves to the basement for the night where it was 70-75deg. It’s not a finished basement or anything, so sleeping on an air mattress on the concrete floor wasn’t really comfortable and I’m pretty tired today. The bunnies seemed much happier since it was cool, but they didn’t like being locked up in just an xpen. I tried to let Hannah out, but there are so many places she can hide and it made me nervous.

I almost panicked this morning when every company I called said I’d have to wait until next week for someone to come out. DH remembered that our heating oil company also does a/c repair, and when I called them they said somebody could come out today. Yay! Now I just have to hope it’s a relatively minor repair and we don’t need a new a/c.

Oh man, Elrohwen, that’s terrible! It was miserable last night. Poor buns. I keep my AC at 70deg and even then last night I had to sleep without covers in front of a fan. It’s only June! Imagine a month from now. :-/

Yeah, it was miserable! We went upstairs in the morning to shower and get ready for work and it was still 78deg, after leaving all of the windows open and fans on all night. Ick.

One lucky thing is that our house stays pretty cool since we’re in the woods. Last summer we only needed the air when it got around 90deg – even when it was 85+ outside the inside temp stayed around or below 80deg during the day.

I just saw this thread and I’m so happy! I was just telling my boyfriend how I needed more bunny forums to talk on because I’ve had so much fun with this one lately. We to, have a condo, and aren’t allowed to have pets. Sneaking the buns in their carriers in and out the guarded doors of our building is quite the job. Pretty sure they all must think we are sketchy as heck — bringing our boxes in and out (if only they knew their were bunnies inside!) They are so adorable and we own the condo — so I don’t even see what the big deal really is! It’s not like it’s an apt building or what not.

Elrowhen, hope your puppy situation works out! My boyfriend and I have wanted a dog ever since we moved in together (which was about a year ago – no where near the time you’ve waited) but since our condo doesn’t allow animals we had to really think about what we wanted. Thats when a co-worker he works with mentioned how she had bought a bunny for her kids a long time ago and how it was actually really fun even though the kids weren’t interested in it anymore, they still kept him. So that’s when we researched our buns! Turned out to be the best decision ever since our three buns are absolutely AMAZING. But I still want a dog. He’s totally obsessed with little dogs and I only like a few small breeds, I love big dogs! We plan on getting a dog when we get a bigger condo or upgrading to a house — but then we’ll have the buns to think about too! And no one should judge you for getting a dog from a breeder! Everyone judged me for getting my buns from a breeder but it’s what we felt was better for our first bun and no one’s opinion should matter but your own!

I would gladly get a bun from a Rescue now (and we did but my boyfriend turned out being allergic which is why we ended up keeping to the same breed now) but I felt it was definitely no ones place to judge us at all! Our little buns are so friendly and happy and I’m convinced that a lot of it comes from finding a good breeder who treated them really well and spent time handling them so they wouldn’t be so skittish (although our one little girl still is! — guessing it’s just her personality!) Which if we ever get a dog is going to be a necessity so we can bring him up around our bun buns!

LBJ — don’t worry about not being able to find a job you like! I have also been down the new job boat recently and it’s so difficult. I’ve gone on 3 interviews in the past couple months and the first one they called to tell me they loved me but that they felt the job would be too boring for me and that I wouldn’t be challenged enough which sucked because it’s a job I REALLY wanted. They recommended me to a different department in the same company though and I got the interview and it turned out I wasn’t fully qualified for the job! Which really sucked… The 2nd interview they said they were going to call me back and never did and then the 3rd is also a job I really want. I got the 2nd interview a week and a half ago and now I’m just waiting…once again… to hear back. So please everyone else, keep your fingers crossed that I get it! !!!

Two of my buns are also going to be neutered/spayed this coming week so keep them in your mind to! I’m praying that everything goes well and their are no issues. We have a vacation scheduled for the first week in July and had planned on getting them down well before (June 15th) but the vet ended up asking us to wait so they’d be closer to 5 months… sooo I’m just keeping my fingers really REALLY crossed that my babies pull through it all okay!

And I feel the pain with all the heat, it’s been in the 90s and 80s here lately. Even walking home around 10pm-ish has been almost unbearable it’s so hot. And it’s only a 15 minute walk! So hot — hope all the bun buns are staying cool! Thank Goodness for air conditioning!

tanlover – haha I’m running a bit of an illicit bunny operation too…Peppy isn’t on the lease either. However, I don’t have to walk past any guards, so as long as nobody catches me walking to the car with my carrier I’m okay. I’m moving soon to a place where it won’t matter, so hopefully nothing happens between now and then!

I really enjoyed yoga yesterday, and I think I’m going to try to go regularly. I chose to try Ashtanga, which is a pretty vigorous form that (in the later sequences) has some intense poses, but I love a challenge and I can’t wait to go back!

Mike, I would guess your humidity isn’t in the 40-60% range though 😛 Big difference! I’m a wuss about heat in general, but I was mostly ok in Las Vegas when it was in the 90s, since the humidity was so low.

 

DH is home with the a/c repairman right now and he said we need a new compressor motor (which they have available at the shop). Apparently it shouldn’t cost more than $500, which isn’t bad (I was afraid of needing a new a/c unit which would be at least $5k). Still, I’m sick of things breaking! We’ve been in this house less than a year and just replaced the dishwasher in March. I guess that’s what happens with a 13 year old house – it’s just old enough that the original appliances start to break, but not old enough that the previous owner replaced them. I don’t mind with the kitchen stuff because I’m excited to gradually upgrade from white to stainless appliances, but the a/c wasn’t on my list of things I wanted to replace.

Illicit bunny operation, HAHAHAAH. Perfect name for it. They really don’t pay attention to you anyways but it’s only because all the entrances are locked so they “watch” them which usually means they are really playing video games or watching TV. We got boxes from Home Depot that we put the bunny carriers in and walk past them all with. It’s a little hysterical because we always have to fill up the elevator so no one else gets in because you can hear their little bunny paws pouncing all over the carrier since two of mine are not scared of being in them in the least.

92% here today with 35% humidity. I spent two summers in Egypt, where in the desert it got waaaaaay above 100deg, so everyone always tells me that I shouldn’t be bothered by midwest summers. It’s the humidity. It’s basically death.

Air conditioning is fixed!! Yay!!

The bill came to about $600 – ouch. Stop breaking, house! I’m just glad it could be fixed today and they didn’t have to order any parts or anything. I’m also glad I found someone who would even come out today.

DH asked me to come home around 3:30 because he had to go back to work for an important 4:00 meeting. As I was pulling into the street he was just pulling out and said it was all fixed. So, no need to come home early, and it’s still pretty hot in here, but I shouldn’t complain about not being at work (even though I’m on my work computer pretending to check on things :-P)

The bunnies were super excited to come back upstairs! Otto freaked out when he saw the carrier, but then they jumped in the litter box and I just used that to carry them up. They did numerous laps of the living room before going back to sleep. I’m glad they’re happy again in their room.

Here, about the same temp/humidity as CinnabunMom’s area! Every few summers I go back to the country where my family is from, and the weather is ~90 degrees with 90+% humidity…sooo miserable. I would take dry heat over that any day.

We just went to Sams with my mother-in-law. She knows we are hurting so she offered to buy us some stuff. We came to the produce section and they had the 1lb tubs of organic spring mix that my buns love (i.e. the only thing they will eat). My husband joked saying it was only $4 there (usually $7 at the grocery store). I said to him that his mom doesn’t want to buy rabbit food. To my surprise, she said to grab one since it was cheaper than the grocery store. I told the buns tonight that they need to thank their other grandma (my mom is usually the one that buys them stuff) for their lettuce. =D

Awww, that’s so adorable!! I haven’t tried anything but kale, basil, parsley, and cilantro with my baby buns. Being overly protective I suppose — I’m always scared it’s going to hurt their little tummies! Seems there’s just so much bad stuff and some people think some stuff is bad and some people think some stuff is good and it’s rather confusing. I’ve been just following on her and the House Rabbit Society website though, still makes me nervous though!

I’m so happy today. My boss’s wife just so happens to be a total bunny lover (her son has a bun that she babysits and she volunteers at the Humane Society with their buns all the time) and my boyfriend and I are going on vacation to Colorado in the beginning of July so I was crossing my fingers really hard that she would come over and check on them and let them out for me! And of course, she said. I was all nervous someone who didn’t know much about buns (my boyfriends dad or one of our friends) would have to come check in on them which would just make me nervous. We don’t trust many people around our buns! Once again, overly protective.

I honestly didn’t know there were any warthog type animals in the US. They are kind of cute.

We’ve only had 1 really hot day here so far. Wednesday was over 30c with a humidity it felt like 39.
And we dont have our ac up yet so it was very gross and hot in the house. I let the bunnies out for run times and they just layed on the floor looking grumpy. Im not a heat lover, if I’m not in a pool, I hate it. They are predicting a hot summer a head with lots of storms. Not looking forward to that. I’m terrified of thunder and lightening.

I just bought these really cool little crate fans for the buns. It works on batteries and has 2 speeds and clips that attache to a cage or crate. I saw them in a flyer for a farm store and went to get some and they only had 2 so I had to get a rain check for the third. I figure they will be great with a frozen bottle in front of them on super hot days. The buns dont seem to mind them because they are pretty quiet. I worry about my buns A LOT during the summer. I hate leaving them alone on hot days.

Question — I’ve been making sure to only buy organic veggies for my buns since I got them, is it dangerous to feed them non-organic or not as healthy? Or are they fine? I’m pretty crazy about rinsing them all off about 3-4 times before feeding it to them, hahah. Scared bunny momma syndrome. But since I was thinking about introducing fruits into their diets as treats, I didn’t know if I should make sure they’re organic or if it doesn’t really matter. Thoughts?

Also, a few other things! I’m so angry. I don’t talk to my mom barely at all anymore and when I do it’s never a good thing. (Lived with my grandparents since I was 15 because they were A LOT more qualified to have kids!) Anyways, so just to make me angry (or at least that’s my thoughts because they have never had any interest in getting rabbits until they heard I did) — they went out and bought 2 rabbits for my sisters. I think they bought them but I’m not positive. I saw them on Facebook and I’m not really sure how to tell if it’s wild or not — but I’m so angry! They have so many animals already and I KNOW they are horrible at taking care of animals and the #1 thing I’ve learned since I’ve had my buns are they are such sensitive creatures and it makes me so angry! From the picture I could see on Facebook that it only had greens in it’s cage they created (not very big and no toys) and there was no hay or pellets. It’s just ridiculous. I want to go there so bad and just take the rabbit, I can’t stand the thought of any creature not being cared by as a pet the way it should be and I’m just really worried for the little guy…

On a happy note, one of my friends has wanted an animal for quite some time — and was considering a dog but her BF wasn’t too keen on the idea so she was thinking about a kitten and so I suggested she adopt a bun! And told her I could help her find one with the Humane Society — she’s put some thought and is putting more before she makes the commitment but is even possibly thinking about a bonded pair! I love when bunnies are adopted and especially when I know they are going to a good home! Makes me excited for the, hopefully, future bun(s)!

TanLover – I buy conventional fruits and vegetables. In the 2 years that I have had my bunny, I have had no issues. I wash the veggies pretty good before giving them to my bunny. It really is up to you which you would like to buy for your buns

Last night, the boyfriend and I went to a pizza restaurant to celebrate 2 of my coworker’s 21st birthdays! I ended up having a blast, and I had a little too much to drink

I had a margarita, a long island bucket (served in an actual small kids bucket. It is a mix of rum, vodka, and other yummy things), and a dream weaver. When I got home, my stomach hurt a little, so drank water for a bit, and laid down until I got tired. Chacha bun kept on jumping onto my bed. It is like she knew I was not myself. She kept putting her face up close to mine. Such a silly bumba

I try to buy organic when available and not insanely expensive. The rest of the time, I buy regular. Hopefully, later this summer I will be feeding my own garden veggies.

I don’t buy organic for the bunnies (I do sometimes for the people, depending on what’s available). The foods I buy for the bunnies aren’t available in organic, usually, and there’s no difference in nutrition at all. I like organic, and like eating fruits and veggies from my garden and local farms, but the term “organic” is often more of a marketing ploy than anything else.

I haven’t see non-organic spring mix in the 1lb tubs. They just have like Dole brand that comes in a tiny bag. Those are usually $4 a piece. Total rip off.

Rather than spring mix you might try buying the individual greens. Spring mix here isnt two expensive but if i had more than one bun, I would probably just buy some romaine then add some kale, collards, or turnip greens all available for .99/bunch. As it is i buy spring mix/lettuce for me and Scat to share. last week i bought some kale to add and he seemed to like it and it made the letuce last longer. I also have a large pot of herbs growing by the back door so i usually stepoutside and snip a bit of this and that. I was going to get some collards for him this week but decided not to add anything new the next week/week and a half since i didnt want his tummy upset before his neuter and i will wait til it settles afterward before adding new veggies. . I know spring mix is nice because you get a variety with out much work, but would it maybe be cheaper to rotate every few weeks between lettuce, and other leafy greens that may be cheaper?

I grow as much of my own greens as possible in the spring and fall/winter but right now its just too hot to grow greens here so i buy whats inexpensive and also suplement with yard plants like dandelion and rose leaves/flowers, even some fresh grass since i know my yard is pesticide free.

It is so difficult for me to keep up with this forum since Huckles decided to kill my home computer. Now I can only get online at work. My phone is the worst about being online, it takes 5 min to post to Twitter.

Huck loves all things edible and non-edible. I never have to worry about whether she will like a new food or not because she eats EVERYTHING! She is a bit picky about hay but really, she is like a fat cartoon kid… “It’s been 20 minutes, shouldn’t we be eating again?”

Oklahoma has a temp of 107 today with 35% humidity and an 8mph wind. It’s ok in the shade but being out in the sun, clothed and dry is murder. I guess I am grateful for being locked in an office most of the day. Since I work at the college though, I get access to the campus pool so I go there after work several times a week.

It’s not 100% official yet, but I was accepted for an internship for the fall! I will be working in the college’s art gallery, installing new exhibits and helping unpack and pack art, make damage reports. I am really excited. It will be for about 5 hours/wk. So, I am trying to get an LOA from my 2nd job so I can squeeze this in. It will be a heavy semester. I am working in the art library for 18 hrs, taking 13 hrs classes (but 2 of those are studios so I am actually in class for 19 hrs) and then the internship. I just cant get the 2nd job to fit in there without having to O.D. on Red Bull. I’m worried that Huck will get lonely but, knowing her, she will just dig a hole through the wall and set up some sort of illegal gambling ring in her room with all the other pets in the neighborhood….

Otto won’t eat carrots either. Haha. Hannah loves them though – I haven’t seen her turn down anything, so Otto is my only picky bun.

Strangely, they won’t eat the spring mix stuff. DH and I buy it for ourselves, and buy heads of lettuce for the buns. Sometimes we’ll throw leftover spring mix in their bowl and it’s always the last thing they eat.

Yesterday we had our first salads with lettuce from our garden! It was so good, though I was disappointed that there didn’t seem to be a taste difference between the three varieties (red romaine, red oak leaf, and buttercrunch). They were good though. We hoarded it for ourselves and only shared a little with the buns 😛 My zucchini and other squash plants are taking over, and some of my tomatoes are so big that they look more like tropical house plants than tomato plants. I’ll have to get pictures! The only bad thing about the garden is that there are so many flies back there – they buzz your face and ears the second you get there and I end up running around swatting at things and trying to weed. Stupid flies! I can’t figure out why they’re in the fields 100ft from the house, but not near the house.

I forgot to mention that we met our puppy’s mom last weekend. It was so exciting to finally make something official! The momma, Cocoa, was so sweet. It was actually funny that she was nice, but standoff-ish, until DH went to take a work call and then she ran over to me for a belly rub. I’m the belly rub champion 😛 She was a very sweet and calm dog (especially for only 3 years old) so I can’t wait to get a puppy like her.

Hahahah, too funny — only one of my buns will eat carrots to. She hasn’t turned down any veggies she’s been given so far though. The other two boys are PIIICKY. It took me about a month to get one of them to even eat a veggie. No matter how much I tried to coax him he just wouldn’t do it! He would just keep grabbing it out of my hand and throwing it on the ground… which is what he always does when he gets annoyed at something you’re doing. (I kept poking him in the mouth with it hoping it would trick him into taking a bite..) He eventually got annoyed with me enough to finally just take a small nibble and surprisingly, I couldn’t get him away from me the rest of the day. He just wanted more and more and more. I felt so bad that I couldn’t just give him a whole bowl! But he only got a few munches.

Elrohwen, good luck with your puppy! I hope everything keeps going in a positive direction and that you’re able to get one! Are you looking for a male or female or will you take whichever??

My BF’s family has had their pups for about 16 years now and one of them is getting really bad arthritis so they’re hoping the vet can give him something for it — if not, they’ll probably have to put him down because he’s just getting so old that he can barely move his back legs. He has to be carried a lot of the time. So sad. I’m going to go into depression when my buns get old, I’m already so attached to them. And of course, they’re all the same age so they’ll age at exactly the same time…. depressing to think about.

Tomorrow is the big day for my buns! NEUTERING/SPAYING! Bahh.. Soo nervous. Also, last night the BF and I spent our whole Sunday night building a bunny condo! We made it two stories with 6 separate rooms for them to play it and travel through… but we realized we’re going to have to tear the whole thing down and re-do it. We got so excited about making it last night that we didn’t think the whole thing through and covered the bottom floor with a sheet over cardboard flooring and then realized it would be a ridiculous mess to clean.. so now we’re going to re-do it. Anyone have any ideas? To have more stability (we’re making it out of the cubes you can get at Target/Wal-Mart, that you put in your closet — saw them in one of these forums) and for more stability we had it kind of maze like on the bottom but now we can’t come up with ANY idea on how to put down a floor that will stay and be sturdy and easy to clean. I think we just need to look around at more bunny condo building options.

Speaking of rabbits, Chacha has her yearly exam tomorrow afternoon  I think she might kill me.

Elrohwen, this first clinical procedure class is just basic stuff: vital signs, cleanliness. A lot goes into it, and there are so many ways to obtain temperature, respiration, blood pressure, etc. The professor said that the number one complaint from the previous class’ externship site is that students do not feel confident with vital signs. Since John graduated with a degree in Athletic Training, he knows how to do vital signs. He will be a big help this quarter. What is making this quarter so much more difficult is the fact that the summer quarter is only 8 weeks. Normal quarters are 11 weeks, so essentially, 11 weeks of clinical procedures are being squeezed into 8 weeks. I have 2 chapters to read this week, and I’ve already gone one chapter done, along with the assignments with it.

I’m up a bit early, yet I got to sleep in at the same time! I’m going for a run in a bit with John, and will come back home and get the diva ready for her vet appointment. I hope she gets a clean bill of health!

I just got both home from their spaying/neutering appt and I’m a huge baby — but I totally cried because Sid (the girl) looked so depressed. She still does. She is so skittish and never lets us pet her really but today she was letting us pet her head while she laid in her litter box. My BF has read a lot about how sometimes skittish does will learn to love you while you nurse them back to health and sometimes it will help with their skittish-ness. I just hope she makes it through the healing process okay even if she still doesn’t want to ever be pet. GOODNESS. It was SOOO stressful, I kept imagining the worse. The boy, however, has been a bundle of energy ever since we picked him up. We have them both in their cages, since they told us to try and limit their activity, and the boy is just crazy! We took all the levels down and Sid immediately jumped into her litter box and has been there ever since so I put lots of hay and some food inside of it. And put her water bottle so it’s right in line with her litter box so she doesn’t need to get out if she doesn’t want too.

We also have pain meds to get them — anyone have any good ideas on how to administer them?? I can’t even begin to imagine either of these taking the meds very nicely. Ah, so nerve wracking. I’m pretty sure I’m being a bigger baby about this whole process than either of them.

Also, one more question — when we were bringing them home they asked us if we would like the Z-Collars (I think that’s what their called) and told us they weren’t necessary but we could have them if we wanted them. We got them but both of the buns kept stepping on it and falling over on top of themselves so we took them off…. How do you guys all feel about them? Should we keep them on? Or just see and make sure they don’t tear at their incision. Both buns were stitched up inside and then the incision was glued so they can’t pull on the stitches, just chew on the incision which is what I’m worried about. Thoughts?

Girls tend to need more time after the fixing. I was like you after my baby girl was spayed. I was so worried because, while she was eating and drinking 24 hours after the surgery, she wouldn’t let me come near for a day or two afterwards. It’s more trying for a baby girl. So, patience and it will pay off!

I’ve never even heard of Z-collars. My vet didn’t give me anything like that after Cinnabun was spayed. Sorry :-/

They probably said E-collars. It’s the plastic head cone right? I wouldn’t put them on a rabbit, unless you notice they are grooming their incision area. A little bit is ok and normal, but any chewing or prolonged grooming is bad for the incision. It will probably just stress the rabbits out more than it’s worth, if they aren’t bothering the incision.

Are they like the cone collars so they can’t get to their stitches? I agree that they’re unnecessary unless the bun is really chewing at them and pulling them out. Otherwise they’ll just stress the bunnies out.

Have you tried giving the meds yet? Some bunnies will take them willingly since they’re usually flavored – one of mine does, but the other doesn’t. My favorite technique is to approach the bunny from behind while they’re facing a wall or the wall of the pen. Put your knees around them to hold them in place and put a hand on their shoulders to keep them from moving, then use the other hand to stick the syringe in the side of the mouth. I find this quicker and less stressful than chasing them around trying to pick them up and/or burrito them.

Yeah, they’re those! I took them off because it looked like they were really stressing them out. And every time they walked they’d trip all over it and then they’d freak and try and run faster. Seemed to be a disaster and since the girl already looked stressed and depressed I didn’t want to make it worse. We haven’t tried them with the medicine yet. We got them back around noon and they said to give it to them sometime tonight so we’re thinking around 7ish probably.

So nervous about it. I don’t want to stress Sid anymore than she already is but I definitely don’t want her in pain either… we’ll have to see how it goes!

Thanks for the advice though, Elrohwen. Our buns can be a disaster to catch and try to burrito, LOL. We’ve given up the other times we’ve tried to burrito them and then they all get angry and dig into us for the next hour. I can pick them up pretty quickly and hold them but getting them into a position is almost impossible so the only time I ever pick them up is if they need to be moved into a different area and I can’t get them to move. We still need to try and clip one of their nails (the one who was neutered a few weeks ago) since his nails have never been done and he’s scratching us to pieces but getting him into a burrito or anything is insane work.

Well my bun won’t even let me get anywhere near the burrito thing. The plus side is they should be a little less hyper with the drugs. I took bunjamin to the washing machine (all off) and set him up there on a towel and had his butt against my stomach and gently leaned over top of him and found the teeth and inserted the meds behind them like my doc suggested. I guess I make a human burrito but he much prefer that than being held. He does not let me even get him half flipped for trancing so I gave up on that route.

Unfortunately for my little guy who was done today, he’s full of energy. He’s been attempting to tear his cage apart from the ground up (which isn’t possible for him so much because we removed anything he could stand on) but he’s still attempting. He’s so angry that he can’t come out since he usually spends a good 5 hours or more out playing daily. He’s eating and drinking and pooping fine so far though so I’m pretty confident with his progress…

My little girl is a bit more depressed. I put a stuffed elephant in her cage when we brought her home though… She dug into it and then placed it where she wanted and has been cuddling with him ever since. She hasn’t eaten yet though. I placed some veggies and food right next to her — keeps sniffing but hasn’t taken a bite yet. She immediately ran into her litter box when we brought her home and just huddled there and then got up and moved to a more comfy spot and has been there ever since. She has been pretty interactive though for how much she’s gone through today! I’m impressed with her but still worried.. But I’m sure she’ll be fine.

I’ll let everyone know how the bunny medication process goes soon! AHH.

Just gave them their pain meds — IT WENT SOOO WELL. The boy was worse than the girl because he wouldn’t open his mouth right away but I finally got it pushed into his mouth and just squirted it. Only a tiny bit got out of his mouth. The girl was so easy! At first she jumped when I poked it towards her mouth and then started rubbing her chin all over it and finally just bit the tip and I managed to squirt it all in right away. She made the cutest most awful face ever.

And she finally nibbled some veggies! So proud of my buns today!

CM- My mom just wiped it down with water. He doesn’t go through it (I think he’s claustrophobic) but he likes tossing it and of course boxing it like you see there. He’s about 2.5 lbs if you’re wondering on size.

My Pepper is 14 months now…She is quite the little character.

Will be having a mass spaying shortly it has been postponed repeated due to unforeseen events incl the ceiling falling in. Don’t want recuping bunnies in a house full of ceiling dust and noisy builders. The bunny room that will be moving to is off the lounge room.

To keep the bond and maintain Peppers Alpha Bun status I have had to work out a schedule. Luckily Piglet, Daddy Bunny and Husbun was done back in November but I need to get his daughters Pipi, Blossom and Nermal done in that order then Pepper. Once everyone is fixed we then start to try and rebond Nermal with her siblings, generally they are fine but Nermie Nomnoms and Pipi loathe the sight of each other at the moment. Hopefully this can be resolved when there are a few less hormones floating about.

Tanlover: your buns are both acting pretty normal. The first night after Olivia’s spay, we thought she was going to die, she looked so poorly. You just have to remember that it’s like a human getting a hysterectomy, major surgery and she will take time to recover. My boy,Stormy, is the only one of my buns who had to wear an e-collar. As soon as we brought him home from the vet, he started digging at his stitches and opened it up. It was sad, he had to wear that thing for over a week.

Chacha- I’ve drooled over stuff from NYhop. I’m just too broke right now to buy anything. Didnt know they customize. Gonna put that on the ol Christmas list. Lol, a bit early, I know.

Roberta – how many buns do you have?!? We only meant to have one but some how ended up with three. Hahaha. I swear I could take in every bun I see if I had the time, room, and energy. My little rascals are quite the handful though. I don’t know how I could keep up with anymore. Although, I suppose it’ll be easier when they are all finally moved into the same condo and I have less to clean up after/take care of. (Keeping my fingers crossed the bonding after their surgeries goes as well as it was before hand, I heard sometimes the bonding process can be harder to retain after their altered?)

LittlePuffyTail – Every time I see your picture, I swear I fall in love with your bun. That’s the coolest arrangement of colors I think I’ve ever seen on a rabbit. What breed is he/her? The boy was licking at his incision spot a few times last night but the vet used the glue so hopefully he doesn’t tear anything open. I lifted him up on his hind legs to check the spot last night though and it looked fine. I could see the incision and nothing looked out of the ordinary or bad. Looked clean and healthy so far! So I’m hoping he was just being a brat about it and won’t tear it open or anything. My BF read a thing online about someone whose female tore her stitches open and her intestines were laying outside of her. So now I’m all freaked out. Horrifying story.

Has anyone ever had any trouble with their buns litter training after neutering? My male bun was almost completely litter trained before he was neutered except when he came out of his cage with the other buns then he’d spray and we’d herd him into his litter box every time but he was perfect in his cage and now that he’s neutered he’s peeing everywhere BUT the litter box. We took down his level and all the things he could climb on though so could it possibly just be from the different arrangement? It took him so long to get so good with it that it’ll suck if he’s back to square one!

PS. Do these chats come up every month or is this just a random forum post? I’m loving this thread and hearing about everyone and their rabbits! Keeps me busy when I’m bored for sure. And so much interesting stuff. Love it.

Today, I took my first successful blood pressure. The instructor walked me through it, and I got to do practice on a student. On the first student, I got it! I was so excited. My ears hurt because the stethoscope that we had to use had hard ear buds. The one that I use has soft ones. Due at the end of the quarter is an assignment that we have to do. We have to find 20 people willing to let us to their vital signs – just the blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.

When one of the students was practicing on me, my arm almost got numb O_O My blood pressure is still low (which is within the average range, according to my doctor) at 114/78.

It has been a long day I think I need to go to bed now.

I swear — all my buns are going to tear down their cages and destroy the house. The brat boy who was altered when we got him has been running around trying to let the other two (spayed and neutered this week) out of their cages and destroying everything he can find since he can’t play with his bunny friends. The boy who was neutered has been a terror and just pouting all the time because he hates being caged up. I let him out for a few minutes today and he instantly perked up and then got all angry when he had to go back in. The girl who was spayed is CRAZY! I expected her to be laid up for a few days and really depressed. She’s exactly the opposite. The first night I worried but now she’s back to being even more energetic than she ever was before. She’s been constantly playing with all of her toys and eating and drinking nicely and it’s only been 2 days!! I’m in shock at how well she’s been doing but I can’t complain!

I’m glad they doing really well. Do they have toys outside of their pens? Give bunny boy a phone book or a carboard box (or better yet, a phone book under a cardboard box) and he can go to town on that since his friends are currently in recovery.

I haven’t tried that trick yet with the phone book keeping them out of trouble but I’ve def thought about it! I just remembered where I put our old phone book since we never ever use it. I’ll try and give him that when he’s out. They have lots of toys in their cages that we usually bring out when they come out to play and a few that are too big for their cages outside but that’s something that I’m sure will keep him entertained. He loves tearing things apart.

OMG. Loki is ADORABLE. Sooooo freaking cute. I love his little ear — one up, one down. HAHAHAH.

And yes, ChaCha… SUCH an energetic breed. We actually read when we were trying to research about the different breeds and their temperaments (and our breeder also told us) that they’re not recommended for the first time bunny owner because they have so much energy that a lot of people get turned off by them. I don’t see how though! When we saw the pictures of our first boy we both fell instantly in love with him. They are all so energetic. Even the girl who is really skittish is always full of energy. They all binky ALL the time and they are constantly jumping around finding new things to get themselves into. Hahaha. But I LOVE them so much. They were the perfect fit for my boyfriend and I. I’m so glad we decided to stick it out and try them despite what everyone said about them. They also have such perfect temperaments too! Most places we looked all said that they are such pleasant bunnies because they’re pretty much only bred for showing (bad meat and fur) so whenever a breeder has a bad tempered Tan they immediately neuter/spay it so it doesn’t go through the linage or whatever. I’m glad we found them though — we kinda just fell into them. The breeder I liked the best had only tans that she was selling at the time but after we got them and learned more about them we realized she just so happens to be the only tan breeder anywhere around us or her. And we had to drive an hour and a half to get each of them but it was sooo worth it. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

Having a bit of turmoil right now. I was going back and forth with a professor. They mentioned funding being available for a project and someone was needed for the data collection. I expressed interest in it and said we should talk more about it. Then they didn’t respond. I’m so confused right now. I suppose it doesn’t help when someone pointed out how pathetic I am today. ='(

OMG. Loki is ADORABLE. Sooooo freaking cute. I love his little ear — one up, one down. HAHAHAH.

And yes, ChaCha… SUCH an energetic breed. They look long and lean, and little like my little bun.

I’m not sure about my girl, as she was from a breeder that does show. My girl was a discard because she is not show quality. She is a 4 pound Netherlands Dwarf, not the typical 2 pounders you see. She has a big booty, bigger head, long limbs, and long ears. She is not the stereotypical dwarf rabbit. She is full of attitude, enjoys laying out on blankets and watching TV (the opposite of hyper dwarfs), and bossing her slaves around.

I love how rabbits are all different, despite their breed. They are like humans – all different in their own special way

I don’t know. I am tired of getting my hopes up only to come crashing down again. As for this person, they had a point. I mean, look at what I have been reduced to. I had to take this job and I obviously stick out like a sore thumb. Especially when everyone found out how old I am. I was so embarrassed, but I couldn’t show it.

LBJ just wanted to say (((hugs))) I don’t know your situation but I’m also going through a rough patch in my life right now too, it seems like every time I turn around something else wrong or bad is happening and I’m just feeling defeated. It’s hard to keep thinking positively when disappointments occur left and right. But, tomorrow is another day, and thankfully we have our bunnies to snuggle with to get us through the tough times. Hang in there and hope for the best!

I agree with everyone else for sure, LBJ. You’re not pathetic and to get where you want career-wise will always be a long struggle but it will eventually pay off in the end! I can agree with you and TBPony, I have had some really hard times to on and off for quite some time now but every time something good happens you have to use that to keep going! And there’s always good in everything — it just may be harder to find than just looking on the surface of the situation! Every time I’ve been turned down for a job interview I just think, it happened for a reason, maybe the people I would’ve worked with could’ve been the worse or it just could’ve been a bad fit for me — now I have an opportunity to find something else that in the end could turn out better! Don’t get down on yourself. Like when I moved to Pittsburgh a year ago from NY it was REALLY hard. I moved here to be with my boyfriend of 3 weeks at the time — and it was a really scary and hard decision but I decided to just make the leap and see where it took me. Just remember, there’s always good in everything and the only way you can make it through this life is by looking for that good and using it to further better your life and yourself. If you let other people and things break you down you WILL fail. You need strength and hope to keep you going at your best so don’t let ANYONE bring you down. I was also in nothing but politics when I was in NY and trying to find a good job on a resume built on nothing but political campaign experience isn’t the easiest. Everyone seems to think I will leave and go back into that field…. so finding a different scenery that I want to be in (Finance) has been a bit of struggle. You just have to keep going you guys!

ChaCha, OMG! A 4-pound dwarf — I can’t even imagine that! Our breeder also shows and breeds Netherlands! She had a BEW litter when we went to go pick up our last little guy from her and they were SOOOO cute. They looked like little mini-polar bears. Bahahaha. But I can’t lie, they don’t compare to your girl. She’s adorableeee. She had a lilac Tan that I wanted SOOO bad from our litter (the only little guy we didn’t get from their litter) but she kept him to show. His fur was absolutely gorgeous. I constantly check her website to see if she ever sells him (hahahah. A girl can dream.) Did the breeder you got your girl from have Tans? I mean…if she does… maybe ChaCha wants a friend! BAHAHAHAH.

My BF and I went to the casino last night and I had one too many dirty Martinis. My stomach HATES me and of course, today is the day before we leave for our one week vacation so there’s SOOO much to do! Our flight doesn’t leave until 8 tomorrow night so I guess I actually have like a day and a half… I’m so worried about leaving the buns! AHHHH. I’m like a new mother.. so redic. Their bunny-sitter (my boss’s wife who LOVES buns and volunteers at the Humane Society with them) came last night to see them and get all the info so I know they are in safe hands but goodness.. I’m going to have a million mini-heart attacks while away worrying about them. I secretly can’t wait to come back from vacation because when we do it’ll be time to uber-bond all the babies and move them in together!!!!

I live in Shadyside! That’s so cool! My boyfriend is from Pittsburgh — or I never ever would have even thought to move here! Hahaha. But I LOVE it. It’s such a nice place to live and there’s so much different variety. And when you’re not in downtown it feels cityish but not like crazy cityish — more suburban. Absolutely love it here!

ChaCha, tooooo funny. When we went to get the 2nd one, we brought Fleury (the first boy) along and let him pick out which one from the litter he wanted. And OF COURSE, he followed our girl Sidney around like a lost puppy dog. She thumped at him like 8 times but he would NOT follow anyone but her. It was soooo cute. And then like 2 weeks later we gave in and went back and got the last one she was selling.. hahah. LMAO.. She is soooooo cute! I love her! Hahahahah.

And 8am is by far way too early for anything. My BF gets up at 830 every day for work and as soon as the buns see him they’ll start shaking their cages and being rowdy so I always end up letting them out anyways. haaha.

I should clarify that this person did not actually use the word “pathetic”. It is just what was implied. I suppose it didn’t make sense to them why I took this job. Like I said, I stick out like a sore thumb. I was desperate, what can I say? I think they were not understanding why I wasn’t in a higher paying position, since the people in charge are younger than I am. Hopefully I am making sense.

You guys are right though. I shouldn’t let these things get to me. it is almost over anyway. I will have my meager pay checks and that will be the end of it. I don’t want to think about how I’m going to pay the bills between this job and school starting in the fall. I can’t keep going on like this though. I can’t make any progress at school because I am so stressed out about money.

 

BTW, thank you everyone for being so nice. I don’t like feeling like I’m complaining on here all the time. Hopefully no one here sees it that way.

(((LBJ))) sometimes we all need to lament and lean on someone a little. I’m sure you have been there for others in the past and will be there for others in the future. Right now its your turn so lean as much as you want, I’ve got strong shoulders and don’t mind taking the time to listen. Same with everyone else here.
The job is a means to an end and I know how the struggles can drain you. Like some of the others I have been there and have only recently started to see the light at the end of the tunnel, even when things improved financially there was still a long period of catch up with outstanding bills etc and there are still a multitude of repairs to be made around the house that I have not been able to afford to do…People don’t always understand and will make judgements based on misinformed assumptions. Don’t let it get to you, you know who you are what you have gone through and where you are going.
But time will out… You will get there and we don’t mind being there for you along the way.
