Well it’s officially June for me! I have a strange question to ask, so I figured it should go in the new monthly chat thread.

I’m wanting to order silicone wristbands/bracelets for an event at work. I have been looking at various websites that seem to offer great prices, but then I find customer complaints after a quick Google search. Has anyone ordered custom wristbands before? What website would you recommend?

LBJ, that’s not a strange question at all! My boyfriend bought some for an event a year or two ago I believe, I’ll ask him in the morning and see if he has any suggestions!

So for those of you who haven’t seen my thread, we got a 7th bun bun! I’m so nervous for his neuter tomorrow. It never gets easier no matter how many you do it seems! Wish my little one luck!

Yay June chat! Today is June 1st for me.
I’m going to try to keep up with it this month. I always see the thread after there are pages of comments, and I feel like I’m bothering you all.
But anyway, I hope the neuter goes well for Sam!

He’s home!  And VERY hormonal!  He started humping my arm and I was afraid he was going to hurt himself so I pushed him off and he bit my arm!  Kept circling around me and everything!   He still hasn’t eaten anything yet though   Made him a plate full of different veggies, gave him an alfalfa cube, some Oxbow pellets, and lots of hay.  Tried to entice him with some canned pumpkin.  Nothing yet, no drinking either.   She said to give him some pain meds tonight – debating on when a good time would be to do it.  They didn’t specify a time and stupid me forgot to ask.   Poor little man has had a rough week though!  Went from being in his home, to being kicked out of his home and brought to the shelter, to getting neutered, and then brought to a new home!  He’s probably pretty overwhelmed.

@Tanlover: Poor little guy, hopefully he will settle down soon… He can probably smell every body else to and is wondering what’s going on.. My vet always gives a slow release pain killer that lasts 3 days and it always seems to work wonderfully…

LMAO, so true Manic!!! NBO, DON’T GIVE ME IDEAS!

I feel so bad for him. He has now bit me three times. Hard. But each time he’s been exhibiting extremely hormonal behavior. Circling, his tail is straight up, he’s bouncing back and forth (more like a bounce not a hop) and just growling. He wasn’t like this at all yesterday. I’m sure it’s hormonal. As soon as I’ve picked him up each time, he has completely stopped. I’ve never had a bun this hormonal though! He looks miserable. Poor little man. I don’t know how to make him more comfortable until his hormones begin to disappear… He is happy with pets but then as soon as he gets off my lap he starts the hormonal behavior again. The weird bouncing/lunging (it’s like he’s doing it at the same time) at the SAME time he’s circling like a maniac. He just looks miserable.

I got some Metacam in him. They only gave me .2ml though which doesn’t seem like much? Thoughts? He’s 3.4 lbs, I believe he should be getting more and I have more if he needs it… Sigh. I just wish I could make him more comfortable! I’m not mad he’s biting. It seems so hormonal to me rather than an aggressive bite, it seems to be frustration. If that makes sense. We saw him eating veggies but it didn’t seem like he eaten much.

Hmm, tanlover, sounds like the shelter wasn’t JUST listening to what the previous owner said. LOL My guess is that he did that to someone right after he came to the shelter and then THEY labeled him as vicious. I’m sure you have the magic touch though. All he needs is some love and, of course, those pesky hormones to go away.

Gosh, I can’t believe the weekend is over already. I got NOTHING I wanted to get done done. Ugh. I sure hope things go smoothly at work tomorrow. I have a ton of stuff to figure out still and get lined up.

But it wouldn’t really make sense… a bunny bites when you put him down but LOVES being held? When you hold him, he snuggles up and licks you. Doesn’t make sense to me! But I’ve never been around a male rabbit that is over a year old and unaltered so maybe that type of behavior is typical?

Unless they were carrying him somewhere, set him down, and then he started acting like you described. Perhaps whoever it was was too chicken to pick him back up again. =p That’s just my guess.

TL14, don’t be too surprisd if the biting doesn’t *completely* stop. Kieko still bites but it’s more playful/her way of communicating. It’s more like a pinch (but still hurts a bit). If we sit against the wall in her play area, she will sneak behind your back and nip and then run off. If she’s on your lap and you stop petting her, she’ll nip (my husband swears she aims for a nipple every time!) Squeeling doesn’t phase her — she’ll just binky off like she got what she wanted.

Hopefully once your new bun’s hormones calm down and he’s settled in the bites will at least become nips if they dont stop completely. Just a little attitude shining through!

He’s so confusing! I sat with him for the past hourish. He climbed up in my lap and just laid there the whole time. Licked my hand. Then got down and started doing the whole circling and grunting thing! MAN OH MAN.

Does .2ml of Metacam sound right to you guys? It really sounds like not a lot at all. I give more than that during just a stasis episode. I don’t wanna give him more though in case they gave him something I’m not aware of and that’s why the lose doses? Idk! Ugh! He’s all hunched back up in his pen again since I closed the door since it’s bed time.

He just looks uncomfortable I hope he’s not in too much pain. It worries me! But I’ve seen a few poos and he peed once in his litter box. Doesn’t look like he’s had any water though. Sigh. I can’t stop worrying!

Jack, Tanger did that for such a long time!! He still does it randomly but he used to do that ALL the time. Bite you right in the back and go binkying away! It hurt so freaking bad too!!!!!

Sounds like Starsky when he got his hormones…. He was a shocker even for several weeks after neuter… The Starman is a charmer now and insists on licking every one (except Pascal)

I would syringe some water… Just get down to his level and drip some in the side of his mouth and let him decide when he is ready to lap it… He could be a little backed up if he is a bit dehydrated my the anesthesia. My vet also gives a slow release gut motility medicine and antibiotic.

I was reading some Dana Krempels articles that say even a non-aggressive unaltered but very hormonal bun can experience serious hormonal frustration after the sudden drop in hormones causing him to “PMS” for lack of better terms. And the best remedy (even if it lasts for weeks) is to give lots of attention and love until he begins to calm down and the hormonal behavior begins to disappear.

I have faith in this boy. He’s given me kisses multiple times, he’s say in my lap about 18 times snuggling over the past two days, and despite the bites I’m not gonna ever give up on him. I just hope he’s not in pain. I just wet down his vegs again since he’s been nibbling on those. He lunged with the syringe of water. I’m using a water bottle as that’s what he has had in the shelter (when he’s in the cage overnight) and one of our large bowls when he’s in the x pen. We were gonna try and keep him in the cage for the first few days besides some x pen time to help keep him calmer until he’s had a bit of time to heal.

I wish he could just understand me when I tell him he never has to worry again… He’s had a hectic past couple of days.

These buns are going to kill mine. My other group is riled up beyond belief, I’m sure it’s because they can smell and hear the new guy. Nothing too bad although I have noticed them picking on each other a few times. Not shocking, they did this when we have gone through all of the bonds. Tanger only had to see Simba the first night before he was picking fights with everyone. No fights though. A few chases but nothing serious. They’re typically wound up around this time but tonight I’m having trouble sleeping… I guess thinking about the new guy… and they are making it worse. I, of course, have to get up for work in 4 hours… that’s going to be really fun….

That’s so cool TL – I actually hesitated making the suggestion but thought I’ve never been shy before, what the hec, LOL! Like I said, you called him your little man….. Oh, and I do LIKE the name Sam – Henry’s girlfriend (15yo blind and deaf dog) is named Sam. And thanks LEL, how cool you like the name too. Do what I do TL – don’t mention the name to the BF, just start calling Sam Manny and see if he *(the BF) reacts??? Ha ha ha ha ha…….

When Powder got neutered he became a devil rabbit for a month from hormones … he also wouldn’t drink water for THREE days, his parts were so sore and he was just so miserable. The only things he wanted to do were bite my feet, get into trouble and sleep with his tail up and his butt against our air vents (they come out of the wall vs the floor) so the ice cold air was on his neuter incision. He is a super cuddly bun, so he would demand attention and if you ignored his wishes, you got a nice new bruise on your feet for it. For water, the vet told us to dropper it into his mouth just to be sure he was getting some, which he hated.

Hopefully your new boy will calm down. Powder was calmer before the neuter and went back to normal after the month. My feet were pleased haha good luck.

I gave the bunnies their salad earlier and Powder was eating with his back to my shoes (not wearing them, they were just on the floor). My parrot has to eat his salad at the same time, so he finished a carrot and decided he wanted to go try to groom Powder. So, he climbed up on my shoes to get his back and started grooming parrot fashion – which means grabbing hair in his beak and pulling on it. Powder turned around and growled, sounding a lot like a dog and the bird ran away (not flew away, even though he can fly, he ran as fast as his waddling feet would take him) and came to me like “moooooooooom, Powder’s being mean to me!” *shakes head* They’re usually pretty patient with him and Powder lets the bird groom his tail, but I don’t think Powder liked his back hair being pulled on.

Awwww, my little buddy isn’t on full attack mode today! Yesterday he kept circling and biting my feet to the point that I picked him up massaged his body and he relaxed into me and was just hanging out on my lap for about an hour.

Today he just watched me as I walked around the kitchen. I set his x-pen up in there as he sprayed the carpet in the living room last night! I didn’t try too much to bug him when I first put him in the x pen to run around but I was walking around making my dinner and he didn’t circle my feet once OR lunge! WHOOOO. And when I reached for his head to pet him, no hopping and grunting either! Hopefully this means those hormones are slowly going down

We you guys talking about the name Manny for the new rugrat over in my clan??? I couldn’t figure it out unless I went back a page and I didn’t wanna have to retype everything in my Reply box so I didn’t. My boyfriend already veto’ed the name Manny though! He hasn’t offered up any names yet though! GR.

So I have a questions about wild birds, here it goes:

We have a kinda small bird house nailed to the tree behind our house. There are like 3 or 4 birds (3 I think) Living in that one house and taking care of the young. Sooooo….. Is this normal? I think they are some sort of tree sparrow/ swallow.
Maybe one of them is last year’s baby? But they were here last year too, and I believe there were 3 then too.
I know this was random but…. I guess I’m just a random person!

Depends on the species of bird. But, sometimes the “flock” will help with babies, not just the parents.

He has offered absolutely ZERO names. Except Hormones. That is the only name he has been calling him…. LOLOL. He has been so hormonal! Except today in which he’s being extremely snuggley. He keeps climbing on my lap and laying there. So I’ll give him a ton of pets but then after like 20-40 minutes he jumps down and sprays me. Then repeat. It’s currently happened 5 times. BOYS!!!!!

So our Tans are named: Fleury, Sidney, and Tanger. All siblings and all named after Pittsburgh Penguin hockey players. Then we have Simba who came with the name and it just fit him so perfectly that we never changed it. Then we have Nora, who we named, I thought of the name from the True Blood series and thought the name fit her, and then Lacey… I just kept searching through baby book names and my BF made me present five and then we decided from those five. Hahaha!

I don’t know about this for a bunny but we had a neighbor with an english bulldog named Humphrey (as in Humphrey Bear). Kinda fits with the hormones (Hump hrey)!

Moxie – Tree swallows are iridescent green on top and white underneath. They catch insects in the air over open areas, but they nest in cavities. I believe male tree swallows can have more than one mate, splitting his time between the two nests. I have never heard of them trying to squeeze two families into one nest. Unless perhaps one of the females lost her brood and decided to follow the male to the other nest.

Tanlover – He can’t veto names if he has no suggestions. Just do what my husband does. He will call a new pet whatever he wants until it sticks. So just call the new bun Manny (if you like that name) and it will stick sooner or later. LOL

Alright, I’m insanely frustrated about my new job right now. I contacted someone about something. The entire conversation was just weird and the idea I was presenting somehow got out of control (this person assumed I had all of this money to throw around, not sure where they got that idea). Then I talked to one of my coworkers and he said that this person has a reputation for being “crazy”. Well, that would explain the conversation.

LBJ10— They are white underneath and black on top. They might have some sort of green/blue “glow” on top. most of the time one of the birds will have it’s head sticking out of the hole. watching for predators maybe? Anyway, there were always three or four. It was not like another one just showed up. They all came the same time, even last year. It’s kinda strange. I’ll try to get a pic or something. In the last 10 minutes, Powder has jumped into my lap twice while I have been on the computer. He also put his front paws on my desk and checked out my keyboard. I wish I could say this was because he loves me – but he figured out I have a bag of sweet peas (dehydrated) on my desk for the bird and he wants them. haha

That’s exactly what I do LBJ, ha ha ha ha….. I have named every person (kid’s) and EVERY pet in our house! Once I’m set on a name that “I” love, I just call them that till the hubby finally picks up and uses the name toooo – LOL! Our toy poodle (BOY) was called Molly.

Lol I don’t have a free roam anything, really. They all get locked up at bedtime. Powder ended up hopping back up into my lap and laying there for a few minutes for head rubs, until the bird had enough of the big furball stealing his spot (the bird sits on my knee or beside my legs on the chair usually) and screamed loud enough to hurt Powders ears and make him jump down. Having a bunny on the desk is very distracting and cute though!

My guy named Stickers that way. He just called her it and it stuck. I kinda felt it was mean to name her after the things we had to shave off her pretty rex fur, but ah well. Its her name now. But, yeah, it really does work.

Every e-book that is any good is checked out of our library already. The ones I want are reserved for over a month. :s Guess I will be buying some books next paycheck, since I am already at the borrowing limit for Amazon. Hopefully the ebook subscription model gets more popular, I read faster than my wallet can keep up. Lol

My mum (in particular) and I had free roam budgie’s (though mum’s (she has passed) last bird was a parrot – a male that had a love affair with her lighter, DON’T ASK!). At the time we had NO other pets, so our Tweetie (I know – original name??? Lol!) had his cage (like Henry) with his food and water, but the door was never ever closed. With one clipped wing, he could fly over to us at the table, but not much further. If he was ever short of flight he would climb up to us, ha ha ha ha….. One of the best pets I ever owned! I know my dog’s would never do anything to Henry, but a small budgie….. I couldn’t/wouldn’t chance it. But gee…. I’m really missing having budgie poop in my drink! (Tweetie would sit on the cup rim and have a drink, I’m sure he waited for his morning tea/coffee fix? Lol!). Thanks for the reminder Stickerbunny, I’m smiling!

Aw he sounds sweet … and yeah I won’t get dogs because of the bird. The rabbits are big enough you can teach a dog they are just little mammals to be left alone, but a bird is so tiny and the action of flight just so tempting, no point risking it! Mine is fully flighted (no clipping at all) so he has run of the house when I am home. lol

EDIT—- They have the same song too, so they are tree swallows I guess, but all the websites I look at says the female takes care of the babies, and doesn’t mention several birds living in one nest. So…. Do we just have strange birds?

Maybe the mom is caring for the babies (feeding them) and they are feeding the mom? Or perhaps the clutch had too many chicks and the birds are helping out? I know in some bird species, the mom sits on the chicks to keep them warm and feeds them, but since she can’t leave the nest much, the dad feeds her via regurgitating into her mouth.

There are 3 though, sometimes all three leave and then they’ll come back shortly after, or sometimes 1 or 2 will stay in while the other gets food, and sometimes you can see all 3 go in.

*shrug* Birds are flock animals, not just pair animals… so could be a flock member helping out. You could always email a wildlife information office and ask. Or post on a birdwatchers site, people who watch wild birds probably know their clutch caring habits. I know sometimes parrots will “babysit” in an aviary situation.

Ok. Today Powder has been in my lap and on my desk more than on the floor. He’s obsessed! lol I don’t want to push him down cause I want him to be OK jumping on my lap but I can’t get anything done with a rabbit butt on my keyboard either and I have a website to finish. lol

I just caught my husband doing the unthinkable! I went upstairs where Marlee and Moshi were in the hallway for extra playtime. Found my husband bent over the baby gate with a set of ears being messaged in each hand, both bunnies squished side-by-side looking like they were in heaven! Unauthorized ear rubs!

It’s bad enough that he took over the dog (just the mention of Daddy and she gets excited), and then Kieko (he even texted me a picture of her with the caption “my girl”, and she will get off my lap and hop onto his if he sits down with us), but now he’s moving in on my M&Ms!! That’s ok, I’ll show him . . . maybe I’ll just get more bunnies!!

Just kidding! I love that he loves the bunnies, and cleans cages, and helps brush them while they’re eating their salads.

They use keratin structures in their feathers to refract the light, giving the appearance of green. So anyhoo, that might be why you aren’t seeing the green. While it is true that the mom tree swallow does most of the incubating, the dad will help gather food. Both parents will leave the nest for short periods of time. I’m not sure about the 3rd bird visiting the nest. Tree swallows of both genders are promiscuous, so to speak. They will mate with anyone who is willing, even though they have paired up with someone and have a nest. The eggs in any given tree swallow nest can have multiple fathers. So that might have something to do with it. Could be another female that lost her nest or another male with an investment in this nest. I don’t know since I’ve never heard of this happening. Usually tree swallows will raise their young in mated pairs and just have “fun” on the side with someone else.

I’m absolutely exhausted. The bf and I are babysitting his niece (2) and his nephew (8). His nephew is a dream to take care of (besides his lippy mouth but there’s nothing that I can do about that). He always has been easy to take care of though. =p (We’ve been babysitting him since he was 2). But man, his niece is a little whirlwind of activity. She moves from doing one thing to the next without breathing. I have no clue how the bf’s sister does it. So I just want to quietly pass out somewhere.

LOL BunnyBrigade, that’s how I describe Henry – just like your 2yo niece! A lot of people describe their bunnies to other pets, NOPE not Henry, he is just as mischievous, energetic and inquisitive as a 2yo child…. ha ha ha ha!

BunnyBrigade – That sounds like my niece and nephew. It’s reversed though. My niece is the older one, very laid back and easy going. My nephew is crazy and full on energy. We never babysit though. My sister-in-law never wants to leave them and I doubt we would want to watch my nephew. I don’t think my mother-in-law (his grandma) wants to watch him because she can’t keep up!

I was having a “bad” day at work. It was all animal-related. You guys really don’t want to know about the ordeal with the eagle because of what was on the menu. Then there were the turtles! Two different species, living in the same tank. Everything has been fine for months. This was until one decided he wanted to mate with the other. Oh boy. Note: not the same species! The victim was so panicked, the poor thing! I had to separate them.

Stickerbunny   I go to my ebook provider and put in 0.00 and the type of book I like and all these free books come up.   Or go to smashword of smashbook.   They have zillions of free books.  You have to choose long stories the short stories are about 40 pages.   

I have so many free books I haven’t even gotten thru half of them yet.  I have bought very few books.    I will be buying some next paycheck like you.  Hopefully this will help you get some good free books.   Most of the books are real good.  Don’t get the ones that don’t have pictures of the book covers.  They usually are weird printing.  Unreadable. Otherwise happy reading. 

Gosh y’all I am lucky Cotton does not like men runs just out of reach when hubby tries to pet him lol.  He will eventually take treats from Fouad tho.  At times he ends up having to put it on the floor or in his salad dish he won’t take it from his hands sometimes lol He doens’t like men.  Not many women either.

Kids I don’t do kids.  Too exhausting.  I just don’t have the energy to give 100% attention to them.  I just don’t have it.  Never did.  And don’t ask about my son Brandon.  He is now 25 and I am going to be a grandmother.  Brandon knows I don’t do kids.  But I am happy for him. They been trying for a little one. They have met with success.   I have health issues and it made it hard they popped up when I was pregnant with Brandon. Back herneated disc and I been bipolar and didn’t know it til about 12 or so years ago.  Well 7 years ago actually.  I was treated for it for longer but I thought I was treated for depression.  I was badly depressed.  Went to Dr.  he mentioned bipolar but I thought nooo depression.  Finally Hubby went to dr with me and i asked what am I being treated for.  I hear the dreaded words and about cried. Not so bad tho. Meds are working good.  i know what to tell dr. now and we can work together and got the meds right. Anyway.

Wow, so many many posts for the first week!!!
I was just informed that one of my best friend’s cat is going to have kittens. (Before anyone jumps to conclusions, this is his first cat, and he didn’t ask me about fixing ) However, I’m not too worried, he adores his cat and the whole family is great, do they wouldn’t give the kittens to anyone that wouldn’t care for them. My question is….what is the success rate in asking one’s mom for a kitten??? (The issue of money aside, I am pretty sure I can take care of that, except for maybe emergency bills)

bunnytowne – some of my family are bipolar. The meds really do help. They were scared of them too at first, but once it’s all evened out on a proper dosage you can hardly even notice that about them. Hope you get it sorted! Don’t be scared to tell the doctor if you think you need to try a different one, or a different dosage.

MK – Uhm. Depends on the parents. Just go at them with a plan on how you’re going to care for it and how they won’t have to.

Powder has been driving me NUTS the last few days. He’s gone through TWO sets of headphones, one he munched by jumping into my lap and grabbing the cord (which was well away from the floor) before I could react. He won’t stay off my desk/lap. And when he’s in the floor, he’s now running around all half-binkying trying to find the best way to jump onto me! Ahhhhhhhh! And Stickers is now parascoping at my chair trying to figure out why my desk is so much fun. lol And he is terrorizing my poor bird, he jumped in my lap earlier and stood up on my chest to try to munch on the birds tailfeathers and has been sticking his head into the birds little play house, which *I* am not even allowed to touch. He’s gone insane. This is not my nice, quiet, easy going rabbit. I have vacuum tubing over all my computer wires now in case he decides to latch onto one since he can bite it in half before I can even say no. :s

LBJ: LOL! Who would have thought that turtles could be so silly? I have never heard of such a thing before. I have a friend who houses two different types of turtles together and has been doing so for a while now. And she’s never had any such problems like this. I’ll have to tell her your story. She’ll get a kick out of it. And I think the bf’s sister doesn’t have an issue of leaving them because she’s a stay at home mom (for now) so she sees them all the time. I, personally, don’t understand how anyone would want to be around their kids, or anyone for that matter, 24/7. I’ve always needed some time to myself or I go nuts.

And Henry: Yes, I promise they get better. Or at least mine have. ;P It’s really surprising how much they have mellowed. Except my two biggest trouble makers are now bonded and they are soooo bad together. One will be look out for the other while they are doing something bad. XD And when they catch sight of us they scamper off. Such silly buns.

MoxieMeadows: I couldn’t babysit three kids. It would be too much work. The last time we babysat for my bf’s sister and brother-in-law they just had one at the time. So we told them before they left that our limit of babysitting is two. ;P

So since we moved into our house, the house next to us has been empty. A few days ago we noticed someone was moving things in. It turns out we have a cop living next to us. I’m really happy about this because we have people who illegally ride their four wheelers around our place since it’s mostly limestone back roads. The buns HATE the sound of them and hid and/or stomp angrily. I noticed with the cop the four wheelers have been staying away. It makes me so much happier to see not as scared buns. =]

You know Bam  Cotton will lunge at me if he is under the table and i go to pet him he lunges til he figures out I just want to pet him.     If he thinks I am going to pick him up he lunges.  Could this be the case with Bam?

Cotton is 7.  He has small cataracts but the vet said shouldn’t be affecting his vision.  I have small ones too.  Are not affecting my vision.  Cotton and I are both the same with eyesight lol.   

Oh the reason I say this is because Cotton has blue eyes.  He has run into the xpen a time or 4.  And into a 3 inch diameter baby tree that was directly in his blind spot.   As you know bunnies can’t see directly in front of their face.  The x pen I can explain away.  The tree I can explain away.

Since the vet checked him his eyes should be fine.  Since they don’t blink he can’t be 100% sure.  But Cotton doesn’t run into the table and chair legs.  Hmm go figure.  How is it with Bam?  

Glad to be of help with your books there   Sticketbunny.  I love to read too .   I don’t mention to people I see I am bipolar.  It is safer online but neighbors.  These people have nothing better to do than start trouble.  Some lady said so n so’s plants got stolen.  I saw her and she said no.  So yes they start stories that aren’t true etc.  So I don’t give them food for fodder.  I am doing good.  New ins. won’t cover my seroquel xr tho.   I will go see DR to discuss it.  Great some thing is working ins. has to throw a wrench in it.  IT will work out tho.  I am confident. 

I have been going leopard print crazy.  I have leopard print nightgown.  Satin leopard print pillow cases.  Just bought leopard print sheets etc.  lol. I put up green curtains.  Looks nice they match now.  Had blue red green.  Nothing matched.  Looks nice plus keeps the heat out of that west window.  This is great.  I found a leopard print bathroom set.  Thats next.  Oh I may order Satin leopard print sheet set.  Maybe.  I like soft things.  Leopard print curtains na thats just too much.  I will be seeing spots  rofl .  Go outside hey wheres all these spots coming from lol.  

I need a spot shirt and purse.  lol.  I already have leopard spotted rug.  

OH the charm beads came in.  1 piece missing.  Will come in next week.  So excited.  I will work on it today.  Its cool. So excited.

And after he got a taste of the Dr Pepper he was digging my pants leg (with me wearing them) and trying to get his teeth into them (and they’re tight so… yeah…). Bad reaction to a sugar high, I had to put him to bed early.

On the rare occasion when we have Macca’s (McDonald’s), we happily give the dog’s a chip or two and I thought Henry not knowing any better just joined them for the sake of it till he pinched a chip and gobbled it up and I swear I was waiting for him to ask for a slurp of my coke to wash it down!!!

So be warned Stickerbunny, it starts with Dr Pepper and before you know it, he’ll expect fries with that! LOL!

Idk. Just feel he can’t see that well. Last night I was trying to get a slug off the wall (YUCK!) and I was standing by his cage and he started FREAKING out darting every which way. Like the movement I was making frightened him. I had to do the treat calling sound to get him to calm down. But when he finally stopped trying to get away he just sat loafed with his eyes popping out of his head and would do a very slight sway. I put my hand down by his nose and let him sniff me and he went back to normal being cute begging for pets and treats. He just has random times he acts like he can’t see. Maybe I’ll start making more noise when I’m around him and see if that’ll help.

He tolerates being picked up pretty well. Actually doesn’t mind it at all. Like he sometimes begs to be picked up when he’s in his cage to take him to the living room (his cage is in Sally and Harley’s room so he has to be carried out. Though he usually free ranges the house day and night) But I don’t do it very often enough for him to think anytime I bend down I’m going to pick him up lol usually when I bend down I’m calling him over for pets so he sometimes naturally runs up to me and lays his head down for pets lol

So I’m getting a promotion at work. Yay!

NBO – What is Bam doing right before he freaks out? Is he lying down? Some bunnies will sleep with their eyes open. So perhaps you are startling him because he is dozing? Wooly has blue eyes and, aside from maybebeing more sensitive to lights, his vision seems to be fine. You could probably ask your vet the next time you have him in. That’s what I did with Leopold and his hearing. I was pretty sure he is deaf, but I wasn’t going to rush him off to the vet. So I just asked about it the next time he was there, which actually just happened to be for moral support for Wooly during his appointment.

NBO – bunnies have bad vision up close in general but I haven’t noticed this with Simba (who has blue eyes). Nora has a weird gray colored eyes and she does the REW scanning which you might remember had me really scared she had EC when we first got her. Simba DOES lunge and growl and nip if you come too quickly in front of his face. We have to kind of let him know we are there. Although, I do feel like I have to do this more with him and not with anyone else. I always just figured it was his hair blocking his view! LOL Congrats on the promotion!!! what do you again?? I can’t remember?

Some of you are sooooooo laid back with your bunnies! I literally would have a mental breakdown and they would be whisked right off to the vet if I saw them eat a fry OR slurp up some coke. Although yesterday morning “Manny” was halfway to being nose deep in my coffee cup before I realized it. He won’t even anything but greens and hay but nose deep in coffee, go figure. I squealed so loud I’m quite sure I gave him a heart attack. I was like on the floor checking his nose to see if it was wet and smelling around his face to see if he got any. LOLOLLL. I’m THAT crazy paranoid bunny momma. Lord help my children if I ever have any.

lol if I freaked out every time mine got into something they shouldn’t, I would be a permanent fixture at the vet. The side effect of having mischievous rabbits! Lets see, they have eaten : Potato chips (stolen), crackers (stolen), yogurt (stolen), popcorn (stolen), suitcases (broke into our closet and ATE THE SUITCASES), the remote control buttons, who knows how many wires, sipped Dr Pepper, stolen a sip of tea and nearly tipped the whole big cup onto the carpet (I did tell him to NOT LEAVE THE CUP AROUND THE RABBIT if he wanted to keep it, but does he listen? nooooo) and my carpet fibers have been gradually ripped out so that half my carpet is bare because they seem to think it’s tasty grass and I can’t stop them munching it so they get a fiber before I can go over and say “NO!” and move them. Not to mention ripped the wallpaper off the wall and munched it, baseboards, doors, furniture and chewed a hole into my flat plaster wall (yeah… normal wall, they somehow go a hold of and chewed a big hole in it, revealing the wooden supports and everything).

And I do have rabbit proofing out by the way – it’s just every time I put up a barrier I swear they can’t get past, they prove me wrong. They even know how to open the house doors now, since Powder figured out he can chew the base and wiggle the catch loose. lol 

Now, my parrot – if he gets into anything he shouldn’t I am paranoid and watching him like a hawk cause he doesn’t do it often.

He bites three ridges, all the length of the roll, so the roll ends up looking like a spiral and it gives him something to grab it by to toss it around! So very glad it’s a new week. Last week was very stressful and sad. Any of you who keep up with the news will have heard of the RCMP shootings and manhunt that went down in New Brunswick last week. This happened in my City. One of the RCMP killed was a member of my husband-in-laws family. I feel so sad for his wife and 8 year old daughter. No kid should have to deal with something so terrible.

It was a very stressful 24+ hours while this heavily armed guy was on the loose. My husband works in the area the shootings took place and that chunk of the City was on lock-down. The rest of us were told to stay inside and keep our doors locked. The whole City was a ghost town. Everything was closed. Even in the neighbouring towns.

My City is still very much in shock that this could happen here. We are a City known for our low-crime and friendliness. If something like this can happen here, it can truly happen anywhere.

Just drove my husband to work and all the poles in the area have 5 white ribbons on them. 3 for them men killed and two for the officers injured. Was an emotional drive.

Just canceled my cable TV subscription. I figured it wasn’t worth the cost since there isn’t anything I’m interested in watching during the summer. Plus there was a price increase and I really only watch 10 channels out of the 230+ lol.

I haven’t had cable for over 5 years. Netflix, hulu, amazon prime and downloading are cheaper and better (even if you get all 3, it’s still cheaper…).

We used to have basic cable. Then, about a year ago, they hit us with a ridiculous price increase. So we went ahead and cancelled it and got an indoor antenna, which gets us all the channels we used to get with our TV subscription. Then we got Netflix as well. Much better, and still cheaper.

Speaking of TV, the World Cup starts on Thursday, are any of you going to watch?

Trust me Moxie, I think Henry could drink your sister under the table when it comes to Coke! Lol! We have no idea how much he drank and how much soaked into the carpet (huge stain!), and we’ll never know when he broke the can open (how many days he drank it???) to when we actually discovered what he had done.
And I had to laugh (again) Stickerbunny – I walked into my hubby’s ‘media room’ (a tiny spare bedroom with a HUGE tv and lounge about 2 foot apart, ha ha ha) yesterday and I could hear crunch crunch from behind the lounge??? Hubby informed me he dropped a corn chip on the floor and Henry swiped it before he could pick it up (another facepalm moment!). Sorry guys but I’m the same – till Henry stops pooping (clogged), I don’t panic over anything he eats. I try so hard and just when I think that’s it, he can’t – he does! To hear Henry literally ‘crunching’ away on a corn chip, absolutely nothing he does surprises me anymore, though I do suffer headaches quite frequently from rolling my eyes into the back of my head. I couldn’t even begin to mention the things Henry has eaten. Though is tummy must digest it well? I’ve yet to see any strange looking poop!

Oh Amanda! How is your piggy? WOW! That would have been scary – sorry, I missed a page when I was catching up, otherwise I would have asked earlier. Bloody piggy not chewing it’s food properly! Good thing you know the heimlich maneuver. When it happened to my poodle (choking on a piece of leftover meat being a greedy guts before the other dog’s came) and I stuck my finger’s down his throat! And worse, when Blair choked once on chicken, I did the same – fingers down the throat! Amazing what you do in a panic and don’t know. I still shudder!

I’m so sorry LPT that your family (doesn’t matter that they are distant) and your town had to endure that. I could never imagine what it would be like to drive down the road seeing white ribbons indicating lost lives and injuries. It’s truly sad.

I know all about ‘awkward’ phone conversations LBJ – before I got one job permanently I worked as a paid volunteer and I had to get supporters to volunteer (UNpaid) for a few hours. I’m still trying to decide which is worse – what you have to do??? or what I had to do??? Ha ha hah ha. All’s I know is – awkward! LOL! So, how’d you go?

I’m a Virginia Tech alum, and even years and years after leaving, I just cried my eyes out when I saw the memorial. Each memorial stone has a picture of the victim along with a page telling about the person. Heartwrenching.

Tonight was bunny nail trimming night. Give me scent gland cleaning any day over bunny nails.

I am the official bunny holder, my son the trimmer, and hubby is the cheerleader and the one who tells me to “stop saying that” when I say “be careful” at every clip. I don’y have the guts to be the trimmer. Marlee and Moshi pant the whole time, and Kieko is a hugger (she literally stands on her hind legs with her front paws holding on for dear life and stares pitifully up into your face).

Afterward, there’s thumping, foot flicks, triple bunny butt, and salads to the rescue.

I hope it worked LBJ – I wish email was an acceptable way of communicating when I was put in an awkward position of hitting people up. What makes me uncomfortable is having to ask people to do something that I wouldn’t do. I’m more confident if I can give people reasons why ‘I’ would do it as to trying to convince them to do something I wouldn’t. Luckily most people were receptive cause they were supporters but I still found it uncomfortable/awkward. Thankfully those days are way past me, but I still remember.

I actually think most people do here now LBJ – this was about 10 years ago, and after giving it some thought, I reckon I was encouraged to ‘phone’ them cause as awkward as it was for me to ‘ask’, I’m sure it was more awkward for them to ‘say’ NO as to flicking me off in an email, LOL! Everyone turned up (phew!) and I got offered a permanent position a couple of months after, so I must have done ok, ha ha ha……

Bumpy was sitting in the chair beside my computer chair early this morning. I noticed him investigating and reached over and gave him some nose pets.

Then Bumpy jumped down (not unusual, sometimes I’m slower than he wants) gives a big thump, and starts running across the living room and down the hall. DOUBLE THUMP.

Husband: Rabbit sure is running around.

Bumpy turns around, runs back across and into the kitchen. THUMP. Runs back out into the living room and thumps mid-stride.

Husband (sitting in recliner): What is he thumping about? -Bumpy flies into his lap- WHOA! What are you doing Bumpy? -laughing-.

I look over, and Bumpy is gnawing on the other end of his banana. I didn’t notice that he had gone and gotten the banana, but Bumpy sure knew ALL about it, and was super annoyed he couldn’t find where the banana smell was coming from!

Weirdest thing happened to me today…I was attacked by a five week old baby rabbit! We currently have 15 babies at the shelter, from three different litters, and when I put my hand in front of one of the youngest litter, she started boxing! It was the cutest thing ever, but I have NEVER seen a five week old bunny attack.

Hi all! Chat newbie here.

I clipped Pippin’s nails today! Okay so it was only 4 (the angle was wrong for me to get the dewclaw), but this has been a struggle for me so even getting that much done was a success. I probably could have tried to do some of the other paws but I was starting to worry about how fast he was breathing and making high-pitched whining noises. Plus I had already given him a TON of raisins and a banana chip, so I figured that was enough for one day.

I don’t know what I’m going to do with Marlee. She’s shedding like crazy. My new hairbuster comb works great but there’s still more loose fur! I was laying on the floor with the buns tonight and saw Marlee reach around, pull a clump of loose fur from her rear end and EAT It! Tried to get it from her but she’d just kept running away and chew chew chewing. This wasn’t “I was grooming and got a little fur in my mouth”, this was “I want a snack (reach around), ahh there’s one”! She looked like she had a beard and was eating it. Trying to keep this little girl from getting a fur blockage (hay, water, exercise, tons of combing) but she’s not helping! Even tried having the “don’t eat other bunnies’ poops and don’t eat fur” talk with her tonight. She sits and listens so seriously then reaches around for another bite of butt fur!

I thought there was something that could be done for splay legs.  Maybe a vet could help. Sure has some big ears.  Cute. Poor baby fell over.  Oh George bunny.  That is heartbreaking.  When I was a wee one and raising rabbit for 4H a mother doe had died and I raised the young in the house bottle fed was neat.    one had splay legs.  Well  Dad did something with it.  I won’t say what.  Tried to talk him out of it. He explained why not.  These days we have more options.  Options that can fix it if they are young enuf and the vet I am sure can help.  Fortunately for options.

I have so much to say.  To make it short.  I have gotten leopard spot sheets 2 sets all green curtains 2 leopard spot pillows and cloth shower curtain and 2 extremely soft body pillow covers. I put in for my own apartment.  I wasn’t going to say this yet. Will be about a year before my name comes up.  Hard to predict these things. I have rugs leopard spots to order  purse decorative towel bathroom rug jewelry organizer. Oh and a leopard throw to cover my rocker which has blue cushions. A little at a time.  I think thats about it.  Gathering things for when I do get my apartment.  I have a pile under the bed and growing on my side of the bed lol. Just too much clutter with hubby.  We will still see each other etc.  Just need our own space.  My Dr wrote a letter to this affect.  My Mom is writing letter to manager here and to her boss across the bridge there too. 

I got pots 600 count set of green sheets too. May get couch covers if I don’t get a new/used couch. The colors I am going with are green, leopard tan brown cream and black.  I have nighties leopard and some unmentionables leopard. 

Couldn’t find bunny themed stuff unless was for baby beds etc. So I went with leopard.  Confident. Cool Hopeful.

Last nite I went thru 0.00 paranormal  nook books on barnes n noble.   I chose 114 books in all.   30 pages of books 90 books a page.   Took a couple hours to check them all out see if they would interest me. 

Today will go thru true crime doubt hey will have freebies on that.   Then just crime.  

I was getting worried I was going to run out of books to read in about 3 months the way I was going thru them.  Not anymore. 

When I put in 0.00 nook books no genre   there were 33,000 some odd books with 90 a page.   Thats a lot of freebies.  I never make it thru that.  Unfortunately you can’t just go to the end you have to go page by page from the beginning.  So now I put genre and narrow it down.

Looks like another busy day online.

So Sally and Harley aren’t gonna be home for AT LEAST 3 weeks but I think I’m going to make them leave right at 3 weeks. I have a coworker who is in desperate need of a place to stay for 3 weeks. And my house is TINY. Like super tiny. The spare bedroom fits a full size bed and maybe like a foot and half extra to walk to the bed if the bed was against the wall. Sooo I can’t turn someone down when they are about to be homeless. So my friend took Sally and Harley. OUTSIDE. Ugh they’re gonna be outside bunnies for 3 weeks. I’m a little stressed and overwhelmed about this. She has a 26 foot hutch under some trees and then a 10×8 foot run attached to the hutch that they can go run and eat grass. But I’m not sure how I’m feeling about this like…outside :/ but it was such short notice and she’s the only one I know who knows a lot about bunnies. And I have to make the room people friendly again as clean all the bunny stuff out so she’ll have a room to stay in. I probably would’ve just made her sleep in my living room except she has a 10 year old daughter and I feel they could use some privacy. The poor girl is already probably stressed and nervous. I don’t want her having to sleep in a living room. So yeah Sally and Harley left yesterday and they are coming on Monday.
I’m so nervous. Like I don’t know how well I’m going to handle two extra bodies living in this tiny house. Not to mention I’m a very private person. I don’t like people lol but I can’t turn someone in need down especially because she has a daughter.

I think your own place is a great compromise. Some people just can’t live together, no matter how much they love/like each other, because their lifestyles are just so different. One may want it really neat, the other really cluttered, for example. Maybe one likes loud music and the other hates the noise. Usually people end up giving in and giving up what they like, but for example, Tim Burton and his partner have adjoining apartments instead of sharing on. The kids can run through the door connecting them when they want to see whichever parent and they have a “shared” living room space where the TV is, but they can’t stand each other if they have to live together and end up fighting. So, hope it works out for you, bunnytowne.

Maybe I need my own place, lol. Boyfriend and I have been arguing a lot lately about the buns… Fleury and Tanger have always been terrible about their litter habits and no matter what I do I cannot get them to be better

Took a jump today and signed up for a CVS website (Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome). Decided to check it out since my last doctor (he died in a car accident over Christmas) had mentioned it and wanted to follow me for awhile to see how well it matched up with what a lot of CVS patients have.. from my research it seems it does. There is no way to diagnose it except watch a patient for 2 years and to do extensive testing (which I’ve already been through) to rule out other things.

Today has really sucked. I have a paper and two quizzes due by 5pm tomorrow and I haven’t started them. Also the fighting is wearing me down. While the boyfriend is out with some friends… I’m wallowing away in my misery by eating Ramen Noodles and drinking a wine cooler. Pure class right here!

tanlover- I believe my husband suffers from that. About 12 yrs ago I was on a desperate search to find out why he was having this issue, there was not a lot of information out there, but I did find enough to make me very confident that I was right in that being the problem.

It is very debilitating for my husband. Like clockwork he’d wake up in the morning when he was supposed to go to work, get out of the bed (sometimes running) and vomit violently for 10-20 min. Then he’d drag himself back to bed, in complete darkness and would go back to sleep for the rest of the day. This could happen once a week, or five times a week. It was very stressful on our marriage because I always felt he was making a mountain out of a molehill. I would get angry because we couldn’t afford to pay our bills, and my job barely paid enough to feed us and keep gas in the car. Even though my critical mind could identify the similarities in circumstances preceding his episodes, the weight of everything else crashing down around me made me less than sympathetic, to say the least.

Several years later, I finally got him to see a psychiatrist for his obvious anxiety and depression. He was having panic attacks. He’s been on psych meds for about 5 yrs or so now, and the cyclic vomiting has stopped. I think he’s had MAYBE 2 episodes during this time period, triggered by something his mind has finds too stressful.

9 short weeks after he first came into our lives,, we surrendered baby George to Liberty Wildlife Rescue in Scottsdale this afternoon.
his splayed legs had gotten to the point where it was an ordeal just to scoot himself around the floor of his condo, and he was only eating the leaves of the alfalfa and the hibiscus flowers from our back yard, so i think something was also wrong with his teeth. it would have easily run 400+ to get exam + bloodwork + anesthesia + xrays at the regular vet, and that would be before even deciding how to proceed on a condition that is not likely curable.

Hazel: Poor Bubbles! Sending lots of healing vibes. Have tried “swimming” with him? When Gilli was alive we would fill up a large Tupperware container with water and he would dip his head into the water and bob back and forth underneath it, as if he was “swimming”. The bf said when Gilli was a baby he would actually climb in the Tupperware and swim in the water.

I had an interesting encounter with a coworker today. I was talking to a really good friend of mine, that I happen to work with, about how excited I was that we finally have the money and an appointment set up to get Tohka’s little manhood chopped off. His hormones and lack of potty training has been driving up a wall and around the corner. WTSHOur coworker had overheard me talking to her about Tohka’s impeding appointment and late approached me concerning her rabbit. I had honestly forgotten that she had a little black lionhead. Which was a shame on my part because he is such a cute little thing. Any way, she asked me about who I go to for neutering. Apparently, her little guy has terrible litter habits and they are wits end about it. And she asked about how to help fix the issue. I told her that she needs to get him neutered. She had said that was what her vet had told her but didn’t want to pay the expensive quote they gave her. I honestly don’t trust her vet. He’s not bunny savvy at all. There are no vets around us (that is less than an hour drive) that is rabbit savvy. I ended up giving her some information concerning a low cost neutering that that the “local”-ish humane society does for rabbits. I was just really surprised that she didn’t ask me sooner because a vast majority of my work knows I’m the crazy bunnylady. It really breaks my heart though because she was telling me that her and her sister and trying selling him on Craigslist before deciding against it once they got a bunch of weird replies. I told her though, that if he was too much for her to handle I could take him in. There was no way I was going to see him go up on Craigslist again or be sent to the local shelter. They pretty much automatically put buns to sleep after a few days of no interest.

Manic_muncher – the thing with your husband is interesting. I’ve gone through that but chalked it us to issues I have with reflux. I would be sick most mornings, drag myself to work, and literally sleep through every weekend day that I wasn’t working. Januarys were always the worst . . . and January is my most stressful month at work.

Bunnytowne – hopefully having your own place will help your relationship. I had a friend in school whose family lived in adjoining townhouses. They did it initially because there wasnt enough room in one for all the kids. Ended up working out well for them since everyone was able to have enough “me” space. I would love to have some “me” space! (and a “me” bathroom, and a “me” tv room, and a “me” closet, etc!) Again, hope all goes well.

I don’t know what it is about you guys but I have admitted to stuff on BB that I don’t like acknowledging or admitting to myself! Ha ha ha!
To all of you that ‘crave’ their own space from their partners – my biggest regret was selling ‘MY’ house to buy one with the hubby (16 years ago). Don’t get me wrong, all is ok now BUT I lost 10 years being very unhappy wishing I had of kept MY house and often thought we should have just dated and had sleepovers and kept it fun – with me raising and caring for my kids and him his parents/family. If this is what you want/need to do bunnytowne, go for it! I personally can’t help but wonder if this will not only improve your relationship, but make it fun again? You may actually look forward to seeing him again, ha ha ha ha…… and the thought of ‘dressing up’ for dates? A little exciting, Lol!
My daughter bought a little place when she moved out of home and rented it out when she moved in with her partner – happy mother! She recently suggested they were thinking of selling her place to buy a house together, and as much as I tried to shut my mouth (trying to be the non interfering mother), I almost pleaded with her not to sell it! I know what happened to me won’t likely happen to her, but my emotions without any thought took over (naughty mother!). SIGH!

By the way BunnyBrigade, you reminded me how lucky I am – thank you! My Henry is illegal here and yet my exotics vet who cares for Henry wonderfully and brilliantly is only a quick half hour drive away! He’s a LUCKY bunny! (and lets not forget – SPOILED!) Lol…..

Yea, I’m sad about little George.

I have no me space at all. It’s soul crushing. I’m thinking of getting a 12×12 shed and plunking it down in the backyard to have a get-away place to do crafts, groom the animals, or stare at the walls. My hubby and I have been together 24/7 for nearly 10 yrs now. If I need to be alone, I’m pretty much down to using the bathroom or bedroom. And since our bed pretty much takes up the whole room, that’s our option when in there. And when I’m on the bed I fall asleep. Then I feel like I’ve WASTED my alone time by sleeping through it?! Sitting in the bathroom for alone time feels like a pretty low place to be, so right now my “space” is my desk and if I want any alone time, I put on headphones to drown out the outside world.

After 20 yrs of living with him, I would totally embrace living next door, rather than with him.

I am so sorry everyone for bombarding the ‘chat’ with my last 3 posts and now this one, but I was going to write about this earlier, but thought I’d get over it which obviously I haven’t – I can’t get it out of my head. As you all know, talking to someone when your not sure can make the difference, so seeing you guys are it for me, here goes….
My mum (and best friend) passed away a few years ago leaving me with ‘one’ close friend. After a ‘just joking’ (you know me, lol!) text message to her adult daughter (we were all close) was passed off as being serious to cover up her mishandling of a situation, her mum, MY friend took her word and we politely and nicely lost touch. My issue wasn’t her siding with her child (I expect that!), just that she didn’t believe me – I don’t lie! (unless your my boss and I want a day off (sickie – the Australian thing to do) ha ha ha!). If she had of just said I believe you but I have to stand by my young immature adult child, I would have gotten over it and on with it. Anyhow, I then had to suffer the loss of my only real friend. I struggled with the loneliness for the last 2 maybe 3 years – then I got Henry and I eventually met you guys and I have to be honest I am happy. I am finally used to being on my own (apart from 3 dog’s and a bunny! Lol!) and I often joke to the hubby ‘who cares that my NOW friends mostly live overseas and own bunnies’, ha ha ha!
So, it’s been 2+ years (?) and the daughter sent a message to me through my youngest son’s FB (I don’t do facebook) apologising for her behaviour all those years ago and that she missed us and she knows her mum misses me and our friendship. WOW! Was not expecting that – so it took me a while to get over the shock of the contact in the first place. Now, as much as I miss’ed’ her (my friend), I’m not sure whether I should respond and/or get in touch? It took me a long time to get to this place – being content and happy. Do I chance it? Can we really be friends again – I am a good person (if TL (Manny’s mum) reads this she won’t agree, ha ha!) and can I get over her doubting me? Also, I hate to admit this and I don’t mean too, but I always remember when someone has wronged me. Sadly, I’m NOT one of those ‘forgive and forget’ people, though I can usually get past stuff – but like I said, after losing my mum – I felt like I went through the grief again, and if it wasn’t for ‘having’ to get up to look after Blair I wonder if I would of ever gotten out of bed and on with life?
Anyhow, I know this is out there and again I’m sorry, but I think I just needed to get it out of my head and maybe now I can think about it clearer. Thanks so much guys for listening/reading – and for those who didn’t want to read this but did – SORRY! Ha ha ha ha ha….Cheers everyone!

Andi, as you know I’m bipolar, and because it would be an extremely long post if I tried to explain properly, let’s just say, I’m manic probably a total of half the year. So the people that I have allowed to get close to me have been impacted by this as well. I just recently “broke up” with a close friend that I met online when he was living in Queensland( ) who now lives in the US. He’s also bipolar and we are similar in a lot of ways. After about a year, he messaged me on facebook again, asking how I was doing, yada yada. We agreed we missed each other, but also that the reason for the breakup was inevitably going to happen again. I told him that as much as I didn’t want to hurt him again, that I just wasn’t capable of preventing it or seeing it coming, and that if he wanted to be my friend, he was going to have to accept that. I advised that he think about whether or not having me a friend was worth the possible hurt feelings. Ultimately we decided to be friends, just not close friends.

Up until about 5 or 6 yrs ago, I was the ultimate grudge holder. I’ve played an online game called NexusTK since 2003. One of the characters I play is a healer, Monk path. It’s a player run part of the game, very detailed stuff, anyway… everything about the path is based around Buddhism. So as I began to study Buddhism, it changed me a lot. How I saw things, how I tried to avoid conflict (starting within), etc.

So finally, after 16 yrs or not speaking to my best friend since I was 4 yrs old (she was 2), I finally was able to forgive her and let it go. We talk all the time again now. Her transgression? I loaned her hubby’s old high chair from when he was a kid. It was an antique, all wood. I had this ridiculous notion in my head that one day we might use it if I ever had a baby (which we never did). She moved from her apartment and left it there when she left. I was LIVID. I couldn’t even finish talking to her once she told me what happened to it. Hung up the phone and didn’t talk to her for 16 yrs.

I said all of that (sorry!) to say this… I found that it takes so much more energy to hold onto stuff. I’d take the chance if she has recognized what she did as wrong and apologized. Sometimes friendships are strained to the breaking point, sometimes the strain just makes it stronger.

Thanks for the vibes, guys. He was playing with Lily and lost his balance. We examined his leg several times, there are no dislocations or obvious breaks, everything moves normally. But he won’t put weight on it. Since there’s nothing obviously wrong, Hubby doesn’t really want to take him to the vet, he thinks they will just tell us to keep him contained and wait for it to heal, which I agree is the most likely outcome. I still want to take him though, just in case they can do anything, like put a cast on or tape it up. He did seem to have improved a bit Sunday morning (it happened on Friday), using the leg a bit more than before. I just don’t know what to do now. We’ll let him out again later today to see how he’s doing. If there’s no radical improvement, I really want to take him in.

Have a similar situation with current neighbour and former friend…Basically she is a “Blanche Dubois” and very much relies on every body else to run her life and meet her committments (which I wouldn’t do) I have put up with the foibles, thoughtlessness and drama for years and also having her customers (she is a work from home dressmaker) treating my driveway lawn and garden like a parking lot… I have asked repeatedly that they try to get people to park considerately as I hate coming home to see my front yard full of cars and the driveway blocked… A token effort was made but I still had to ask several times to be able to use my drive or for people to move so my own visitors could park on my property….Add to this visitors children stomping through my herb garden or riding their bikes and skate boards up and down my driveway to my front door, their dog constantly jumping my fence or crapping near my front door, the long broken shards of glass left in my bin because they didn’t want to use theirs as the council has laws on the disposal of shattered glass, the frequent borrowing, things that she knew were mine from shared functions that were never returned. The endless rolls of toilet paper borrowed and her sharing any gossip she could get or inventing stories if the gossip wasn’t good enough… Well, then in an attempt to big note herself she went to my family with personal information but also some of her fairy tales which of course my family came to me about… Then after asking if they could put a trailer in my drive whilst a bobcat cleared the area they are building a courtyard on the inch given not only became a mile it turned into a whole freakin road trip… I come home to find her car so far down my front lawn it’s almost under my bedroom window, they have pulled stuff from under my side of the carport so they could store a pocket rocket motor bike using my new tiles still in boxes to prop it up… this is just the highlights… So I complain… The response was abuse that I should have told them it was not acceptable… Um… Pretty sure I did that repeatedly. I have put up with so much $*&! it’s not funny but now I am the villian.. I have adopted a policy of polite exchange and there ends the friendship… I’m not the one having to scurry to my car with my head down and face scrunched up like a demented pug dog…. So I’m fine, I however do have a small group of friends, some of them also ex friends of my neighbour who are also persona non grata with her after she shared the private information and did things behind their backs.
I would wait till the girls Mother contacts you instead as it sounds like the daughter is trying to repair bridges because Mum has also isolated herself. Plus you don’t want these people knowing about Henry until you are sure it’s not a ploy of some sort. By all means send a polite “Thank you” but leave it at that and see what they do. I have recently renewed a friendship that went off the rails some 15 yrs ago and whilst it is great being able to catch up the person has not changed much so I am proceeding forewarned and forearmed.

Roberta: I hate for him to be in pain, but I’m afraid of giving him pain meds. He’s already WAY too hyper anytime we let him out, which is about 1 minute a day, to check on his progress. I just cleaned his litter box and had to call Hubby in there because he was bouncing all over the place. Whenever he’s out we have to shut Lily out of the room, because he will go NUTS if he sees her. If we make him more comfortable with pain meds, I’m worried he might just hurt himself even worse. The other day when I let him out, he actually made a beeline straight for the cat tree and started climbing up again. I plucked him off, told him what a huge dummy he is and put him back in is cage. So much for him taking better care next time, AndHenry!

AH – That’s a tough one. I let a guy come between me and my best friend from college – something I promised her I would never do. She dumped me and I just walked away like she never mattered. Stupidest thing I’ve ever done. I lost my best friend ever, and two years later walked in on the guy cheating with another girl . . . two months before our wedding. I would like to say that I was just young, but I was 21 after all and should have known better. I’d love to be able to tell her how sorry I’ve been all these years. Her family moved years ago, and I tried to look her up on facebook through hubby’s account (I don’t do facebook otherwise) but no luck. Lesson – true friends are too precious to let go. Find a way to fix it.

On the other hand, my best friend from high school and I grew apart when I went away to school. We kept in touch for a while, then would run into each other occasonally and have lunch. Now, we might run into each other every few years but we’ve both changed so much (jobs, interests, etc) that we really have nothing in common and our conversations are just small-talk and awkward. Lesson: Don’t expect the friendship to necessarily be the same as it was. It’s nice if it is and nice if the years actually bring something new to the friendship, but people do change.

Well, I havent been any help! So, my advice is to do whatever feels right for *you*, and definitely hide Henry! Whatever you decide to do, you still have your friends here.

Luna was a shocker, when I adopted her she had been passed over because she was out back in the vets recovering from a leg strain so her Mum and sibblings all went and she got left behind… A short while later she strained her leg again so I took in for treatment, I ended up chucking the pain meds as the minute they kicked in she took off like a dervhish and was swinging from the ceiling…

But I still want to please and I feel like I’m asking a lot of dumb questions. =\

And Henry: You’re lucky! The vet that we actually take the buns to is roughly an hour and a half away. I would love to have the vet a half hour away. It would be like going to work. XD And I’m sorry, I don’t really have any great advice. I admittedly have an immature and self preserving view when it comes to friendships. I haven’t made the greatest choices in friends and the one really good friend I had, I lost in a fight. We made up years later but the friendship was never the same and strained. I just ended up letting it go and realized that even though we made up there was a mental block there. Subconsciously, I think we had changed a lot over the years and were afraid of getting hurt again by each other. The other friends I made all seemed to enjoy my boyfriend more than me and used me as a way to get to him. It gets very exhausting to have all your “friends” try to sleep with your boyfriend. And don’t feel bad for having friend that are on the Internet! For the past four years I had given up on making or having any sort of friends until I started to play an MMO. Despite most of them being all the way in Canada, my fellow guild members have become really great friends to me. They really understand my nerdiness and don’t care that I’m not “girly” enough to deserve having “such a great boyfriend”. Having found them as friends has made me really happy. So I’m glad that you’re happy with having made friends with everyone on BB. =] Oh dear gosh. Sorry about the long rant. >.<

This is a change of conversation, I’m sorry but I had to share this giggle I had this morning.
I have a Houdini Bun.

I keep Merlin’s food in one of my desk drawers, he knows where it is but its always been fairly safe…..until now. This morning I let him out for his usual running around and settled down to do some studying. About half an hour later I realised I hadn’t seen him in a while so I got up to do a search of the room, checking all of his usual hiding spots…. and then saw a pair of bright eyes looking at my from the desk drawer. The sneaky lil bun had managed to get in through the back of the desk and was happily chowing down, looking very smug!! I opened up the desk and kind of went ‘Ahem.’ and he jumped out at once, but now I’ve had to move everything from that drawer adn leave it empty…. Merlin has acquired another hiding spot :p

I lost a best friend.  From elementary school.  They moved.  We kept  in touch.  I moved to california with a guy.  Got married.  Got in touch with my friend.  Caught him with another guy.  Left him moved to florida and my best (so I thought) friend.  He would call tell her I am gay.  She beleived him instead of me.  Ended that friendship real quick.  She had mental issue.  Would laugh n laugh n laugh.  Then get all moody.  I am bipolar.  So I don’t know I don’t think she is bipolar I think it was something else  No matter.  It ended our friendship her thinking I was gay and all. I was so angry.  Got home one nite she had all my stuff packed told me to get out. Moved in wtih my future 2nd husband.  I was very angry Said I owed her all kinds of money.  My Mom always said she was strange. 

Well long hair mike  sorry about the little bunny.  Glad you found a good place for him.  Hope he does better with his splay legs.  That the wild rescue can help him with that.  I know you miss him.  Poor little thing  HE was so cute. 

And Bubbles.  I know how you want to take him to the vet.  I would too.  Just to be sure.  Making him rest should help.  Sounds like he has some crazy energy.  lol.  Likes that cat tree a little too much for his own good.  Rascals all of them. 

Roberta sounds like a nutty neighbor alright.  Dump that one.  lol.   Quick lol.  

Seems like a lot of you  would like your own space.  There is a lady I know here who divorced and her husband lives here too.  She said they get along better now than when they were together.  lol.  That is what will happen with hubby and I that I am quite sure of. These apartments are small.  He sleeps most of the day I want to clean.  I don’t like cleaning at 4 or 5 in the afternoon.  I am a day person.  He is getting ready for Ramaddan sleeping all day.  Or avoiding me and having his own space.  He gets up early and can’t sleep.  Then sleeps most of the day.  We see each other in the evening lol.   Thats what he does during ramaddan.  Eat before dawn fast from dawn to sundown break fast stay up read quran pray etc. Go to bed and repeat.  I have an excuse so I don’t fast.  Therefore I keep my normal hours. If he is up during day anytime he will be in bedroom reading quran.  

I like watching investigation discovery he hates it.  I like that murder stuff.  Just do.  Always have.  Can’t explain why.  Just do.  would never want to know what its like to kill some one like kids teens do.  Some of them do.  Gosh this is so long sorry

She sounds like fun. Poor thing, I’m glad she ended up with you! I hate to say it, but I guess pain does serve it’s purpose and numbing it can be detrimental in certain situations. Of course none of us ever want our pets to suffer or be uncomfortable.

Anytime we open the cage, Bubbles is like a horse out of the gate. I don’t blame him, he’s been locked up for 4 days now and will have to stay there for at least another week, I think.

The good news is, he is doing better. Since Sunday morning he has been using his leg more while walking/running, and when we pick him up and put a hand under his back feet, he is now pushing with both feet, which he didn’t do before. I think he will be okay, we just have to keep him contained for a while.

You guys are brilliant! You know, once I wrote about my dilemma regarding my ‘friend’, even though it was still on my mind I no longer felt overwhelmed by it. Thanks so much for your input manic, Roberta, JackRabbit, LBJ, BunnyBrigade and bunnytowne – your thoughts and recollections of past experiences really helped me to decide that I’m going to reply to the daughter (via email) thanking her for her contact and that the apology is genuinely appreciated. I have also decided to make her aware that I was very hurt, devastated actually, that the friendship with her mother ended because of her selfish actions. I’m sure she must know this, but I ‘need’ to say it to her. By the way, the daughter would be almost 30 now, so I should be dealing with a mature adult as to the immature one those few years ago. Once said, if she is still keen to encourage the friendship I will give her my new mobile number and let her mum approach me (I honestly wouldn’t know what to say for me to contact her first?). If she does I will do all I can on my end to get our friendship back on track and if not – no harm done (to me – again). Though I will make every effort, I am very aware it may be strained as only time will tell if we can recover from what transpired in the past. I’ll let fate decide. Again, thanks guys! It was due to your response’s that I decided to give it ago – the afternoon that I was shown the message I was adamant it wasn’t going to happen, yet I knew that I had to be sure as I guess this is the last chance of ever recovering our friendship – why I posted to you guys about it. Seriously guys, how dumb is this??? I was overcharged (charged normal price as to ‘ticketed’ SALE price) when I bought a packet of frozen fish from my local supermarket. Cause I shop for us (not Henry) fortnightly, and knew it would take time to verify the charge/sale from 2 weeks ago, took the fish back with the receipt in hand (straight from my freezer) to get a straight forward, quick refund. When asked why, I explained and said I didn’t have time for them to check back 2 weeks and refund the difference, just give me a full refund and you take your product back. No prob! As quick as she scanned it she threw the packet in the bin??? HUH? Why didn’t she just offer me the difference back ($2.39) along with the fish? As to giving me back $8.39 and throwing the fish in the bin and me buying another box (another sale product but different brand) at the sale price of $6 – WOW! Is it just me, or is that really wasteful and DUMB? And I get that some people are crooks, but for $2.39 what crook would bother – I am just over getting ripped off as this happens quite frequently. I’ve only noticed or take care to check my receipt since I stopped working. I’m sure this happened before, but being time poor never checked my receipts. Do they count on people buying stuff and cause it’s only a few dollars think people don’t bother?

Thank you, I’m really happy to see him make progress as well. He really is a slow learner… And actually, I did think about putting some pillows under the cat tree! But we decided to just wrap the legs of it with cardboard, that way he can’t climb up anymore. After his injury I read that climbing up high and jumping off stuff is one of the biggest causes for ferret injury, especially young (and stupid) ones. Hubby said “No wonder they can’t survive in the wild!” Hopefully their undomesticated cousins are a little smarter…

AndHenry, they can’t re-sell that fish because the chain of freeze (I have no idea what the proper term for this is! It’s like chain of evidence in tv-series but about cold storage of foods) has been broken. It must be chucked. So she actually did the right thing consumer-health-wise. If you think about it, it makes sense, although waste of good food does suck.Maybe she ought to have chucked it when the customer didn’t see her doing it – on the other hand it actually is a sign of quality that she threw it away without giving it another thought – it means they’ve a protocol to always discard stuff that may have gone bad. 

I always check my receipts. Sometimes I feel like such a very mean person doing it, but then again, I’d feel even more stupid for getting ripped off by food-stores that actually are the most profitable businesses by far in Sweden next to the banks. It’s just amazing how over-priced food is here and how happilty people pay too much for too little. We have one major chain that owns like 95% of all foodstores in the country, and people actually LIKE that, they feel safe and sort of guaranteed that they get the est food. Which they aren’t, because it’s competition makes for better consumer value, not lack of competition. So I check my reciepts out of bloody principle.

Speaking as someone who has worked in retail for 8 years, issues with change and that happen a lot, even to the best of cashiers. Especially when its manically busy, mistakes happen! Usually people will happily rectify the situation, but its frustrating when you cant ><

Different topic (again! sorry.) I’ve got to say I’m looking forward to snuggles with Merlin. Because I work nights, we were pretty much on the same pattern of being awake early morning and evening and sleeping during the day and he used to come up on the bed and doze with me, which was lovely and bonding, especially seeing as he’s a solo bunny. However, he’s started challenging me for territory and peeing on the bed so he’s no longer allowed up! Any time he comes up I have to clap my hands to get him off. He’s booked in for a neutering soon, so hopefully then pee-free snuggles will resume…. right?? XD

Pee-free snuggles might return or they might not. My Bam was fine for more than a a year after his neuter, then had a relapse of peeing-on-the-couch this year in early spring. I had to once again block him off the couch. Now he is back to not peeing on it again. I think it was a hormonal response to the spring light. They still produce some testosterone even if they’re neutered,

Anyway, now we’re back to snuggles on the sofa and that’s just great.

I do see that cashiers don’t try to con people out of their money by over-charging. It’s just that I don’t like being over-charged. It’s not the cashier that gets the money I’m over-charged, I didn’t mean to offend any cashiers here or elsewhere, of course mistakes happen.

This is going to be totally random… You have been warned!

Weirdest thing happened an hour or two ago… I was babysitting my niece (don’t know if i can say ages soo) (in between the ages 5-7) and My two nephews (one under 3, the other under a year.) My little sis was there and my dad was on the computer. All was fine, we were watching a movie.

All of the sudden, the girls scream “Cleo is outside!!!” (Cleo is our [crazy] cat, who has never been outside and is not allowed outside, she also has no “street smarts”)

The cat was heading towards the road, I panic and run out the door to the end of our driveway, and try to snatch at the cat. The cat takes off into the woods and there is no sign of the cat.

I start to panic, my older sister LOVES this cat and would probably hate me if I was the cause of her death. My sister had gone to the store with my mom, brother and sister in law, that’s why I was babysitting. They pull in and I’m practically in tears, how do you tell someone their pet has run away under your watch?

We look around and go in to get some help looking for the cat, and there she was, locked in the bathroom, she had been there the whole time. We had been chasing some other cat around the property, all that worry for nothing.

But the weird thing is, this cat looked EXACTLY     like her, color, bone build and the way (s)he walked.

But anyway, how are you all today?

I’m so sorry to hear/read that LBJ. Are you sure it’s something that we can’t talk about on this forum? You know I’m gonna wonder/worry about this for you, just like most of us BBer’s will (silly me/us – lol!). Anyhow, if you decide that you can – we would all love the opportunity to help you if we can.

Oh and I know and agree 100% bam – if she had of put it back on the shelf I may have hesitated to buy frozen products from them again. Maybe I should have gone into more detail with my original post (I always worry I talk to much and my post was already sooooo long – lol!). Being a regular customer (living in my town all my life) and being familiar to staff, I would have liked her to take my word for it and with her having my receipt (I told her to keep it – she could have checked to verify the facts after I left and pulled me up next time I shopped if she thought I was trying to pull a swifty – which I would NEVER ever do – I despise crooks!). And because I knew the fish was fine (straight from my freezer), to save waste, I would have happily taken a refund on the difference and taken the fish back home (hate waste when it wasn’t/isn’t necessary!) – I would have appreciated the option. All’s I wanted was to be charged the sale price advertised, which why I bought the product in the first place. Being a one income family now, sadly, every dollar does count – why I buy the specials. And yer! Advertising a lower price and then charging the full price, isn’t that theft too – sadly the supermarkets find this an acceptable practice, but if we the consumer stole from them, we would be arrested and charged – go figure? And I think my other point – this wasn’t a one off, it happens ALL the time! Why I check my receipt each and every time I shop now.
Oh and no way was I blaming or putting fault on the register operator Silverpaws – definitely NOT! It’s the person/s responsible for changing the advertised/sale prices on the scanning system – did anyone else buy that same fish, notice they were charged full price and bothered to take it back? I doubt it – why they get away with it ALL the time! (and make HUGE profits).
I check my receipts EVERY time now bam – out of bloody principle! Good for you! Good for me!

AndHenry, I completely agree with you on the “advertising one price then carging another” – issue. I think it’s done routinely because it’s successful, people either don’t bother to check their receipts or feel too embarrassed to go back and ask for a refund. I truly HATE controversy though, I’ve a bit of social phobia.

I woke up at dawn just now because there was a terrible rain + thunder. I discovered I’d bit my mouth-guard in two pieces. I grind my teeth sth crazy. Today is a big holiday in Sweden – Midsummer. It’s all about outdoors eating and drinking and it MUST be sunshine, cornflowers and daisies and poppies, women in romantic dresses, little children with wreaths of flowers on their heads, pickled herring, newly dug-up potatoes, strawberries and alcohol, often very much alcohol. And most Midsummer Eve’s are rainy and cold and windy and just awful because we still have to eat outdoors albeit on a veranda if it’s really pouring and sit and freeze in light clothes and perhaps that’s why so much alcohol is in the picture, we’d freeze to death if we tried going through it sober. I’ll be sober though. I don’t drink alcohol.

Now Yohio jumped back up on the bed again, he went and hid under it while it was thundering. Apparently it’s nose-rub-time now =) I’ll try to go back to sleep. Happy Midsummer’s to all of you!! (even if you don’t celebrate it. It’s not a religious holiday at all.)

But where you may freeze today (I hope not!), we boiled! and do every year – if you don’t have a pool or live near the water, we adults (not me anymore – too old, lol!) buy little toddler/kiddy blow up pools with the esky (full of alcohol, lol) and the food located close by so no one has to get out of the water, ha ha ha ha.

We’d like to thank you for bringing the bunny in to our facility last week. Our Medical Services team made heroic efforts to bring him around but the metabolic bone disease from which he suffered was too advanced. Sometime during that first night, he passed away peacefully in a heated brooder. If we had seen him sooner, perhaps more could have been done, but when lagomorphs are that young, they are very vulnerable to diets that are deficient in any respect. The extent of his degeneration lead us to believe that he was lacking a sufficient amount of calcium to allow his skeletal structure to develop. You might want to verify the amount of protein and calcium the formula you were tube feeding him has and that it was current and not out of date.

Know that he was lovingly well cared for as are all animals that arrive at our facility. Caring for wildlife and all their unique and specific requirements is all we do and have been doing so successfully for over 33 years. Every time one doesn’t survive, we feel a deep sense of loss.

Your Luna tic is a very pretty cat.  Loves his cat toy.  I think that is the best cat toy out there. When I had Feda she loved that toy.  wore it out.  I bought her another and put the old one in the trash.  She got upset and thought I was throwing her toy out.  I had to show her I had gotten her another one before she would let me be and stop worrying me about the one in the trash can.  Feda was a really smart cat.  I love cats. She would flip backwards in the air playing with that cat toy.  My son laughed so hard.

Yes, what a poorly worded message. I think they were trying to be helpful/consoling (I like to give benefit of the doubt), but it does come across pretty poorly.

when i FIRST contacted them way back when george was little, they said he was already big enough to be released.
that would mean he didn’t need any sort of milk or formula anymore. i gave him access to everything that would be outside in our yard, as well as everything that our indoor bunnies would have access to eat. the only thing i can think of is that his mom and siblings were eaten way back when he was only a few days old and he was NEVER nursed. how the $*&! was i supposed to know.

And you did contact these people from the get go, they could’ve told you to be extra careful to get lots of calcium in him from the start or at least to look specifically for any early signs of calcium deficiency.

As for checking my receipts…. I NEVER do that. I was in NYC a few weeks ago visiting my brother and meeting my new (and first!) niece! We went to a winery one of the days and I never would have even noticed that they charged me $100 instead of $34 if I wouldn’t have been adding up to the amount to pay off that portion of my credit card two weeks later! Like UGH. I literally would have lost $60 just for not checking! Horrible mean. Didn’t check my receipt when I signed the bill either, dummy I am!

Hazel, I’m totally not surprised he’s injured himself. They are SO hyper! I would give him a few days and see if it looks better. However, when fleury injured his foot….. I swear he wouldn’t walk on it for about 5-6 days and then the 7th it was like nothing happened to it at all and he was walking on it fine. It may just be instinct not to walk on it at all until fully healed for animals??

As everyone is chatting about friends….. I have definitely chose terrible friends in my lifetime! My best friend from high school I lost touch with over a boyfriend…. she dated him first for three months and then they broke up… we started dating a year later randomly when we saw each other again. We dated for two and a half year, discussed marriage and kids, everything… then one day I just felt like he didn’t treat me right… we broke up and I don’t regret it at all! My next best friend I met in college, we did everything together but were total party girls together. We made so many fun and hilarious stories and memories together. But then she got pregnant and had a baby with a man I really detested. (He was a total loser and just mooched off from her). They finally broke up and went their separate ways (as much as you can do when you have a child together.) Then I met my boyfriend and moved to Pittsburgh… I really did not approve of the things she exposed her baby too and it eventually was the ending of our friendship when she visited me in Pittsburgh for my birthday. I just decided that she was not the type of person I needed in my life… I don’t regret that decision either! I recently have become really good friends with a girl I met at work! I really really enjoy being friends with her and she is just genuinely a good person. And she loves the buns! She spent the night with me last night while I did my first bonding session overnight with them and brought a bottle of wine… Now THAT ladies is a REAL friend!

I forgot I had also posted about the CVS forum… (Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome)

Turns out one of the Medical Advisors for the CVS National Association is from Pittsburgh! My doctor referred me to another GI doctor (this is the 3rd one because he has no clue) and I found out from the Medical Advisor that the doctor I am now scheduled to see is the #1 expert on CVS in Pittsburgh! Thank Goodness! Although, he’s a very good specialist and unfortunately… I could not schedule an appt with him until August 21st. But it’s better than nothing I suppose! Unfortunately, there also is no other meds for me to currently take besides the Zofran… my doctor said any other options would make me severely fatigued or give me very serious side effects. Ugh. So now I’m stuck in between half puking up all my meals and managing to keep SOME down with the help of the Zofran.

I did read through the testing and diagnosis they had on the national association site about how to determine if you have this… and i fit it to the T. It’s very rare so it’s really hard to determine… I’m not sure whether to hope this IS what I have or hope that it’s something else. It would be very nice to actually know what it is – I feel like the forums on the site have made me feel so much better already! But then again… if it is CVS there IS nothing to really help the symptoms. Some people go through episodes where they end up in the hospital from dehydration. And one person on there is battling throat cancer from the effects of acid in the esophagus… idkkkk.

I feel for you TL. I have problems with reflux and throwing up all the time is definitely no fun. My husband says it’s also not very romantic. Luckily, as long as I *always* take my meds, my issue is mostly controllable.

Hopefully you’ll get a diagnosis one way or another. The “not knowing” may even be adding to the problem.

That CVS sounds terrible.  How uncomfortable that has to be.  Yuck.  

That letter Mike got does sound blaming.  I don’t agree isn’t Mikes fault at all.  That was bad.  Mike didn’t do anything wrong.  Mike did a lot for that little George.  

Oh my knee.  I twisted my good knee very bad at beach saturday.  Hit it was 2x on Nani’s new van.  Got home could hardly bend it.  Has to do the slow one at a time walk up the stairs. Glad I cleaned Cottons house and litterboxes earlier that morning.  Cried out in pain whenever I bent it.  Fouad gave me ibuprofen and anti inflammatory.  I put cold packs.  yesterday would start to hurt when I  walked around.  More cold pack.  Ibuprofen.  Today is lots better.  Still being careful. 

My Aunt in Louisiana has a nice garden.  She has food flowers and sunflowers.  How nice to have place where you can have all that and not worry about neighbors picking your stuff.  

My rose bush bloomed and someone picked the flowers.  Now I have to pick them once they bloom so Cotton can get the petals when they fall. I dont’ mind I like the smell and they are pretty to look at in my house.   Just to know I  HAVE to pick them right away.  

Well my son is having a boy Emily is 20 weeks along.  Not decided on a name yet.  That takes time.  They are trying to decide.  I like Darius and Aiden.  I was surprised Brandon said they were good names.  I thought he would go gag.  lol.

Even though I’ve put the heat on (low – our electricity prices are outrageous! and yes I have solar panels – useless in winter unless north facing) I’m still cold! Gosh – am I gonna turn into one of those old ladies who sits with a blankie (blanket) on their laps, ha ha ha…..
And even though we have a pool, ‘I’ only get in when it hit’s 28-30 degrees!!! I don’t know how you guys can swim in this temp and consider it warm enough to go to the beach without a wetsuit!

So tonight trigger just made me laugh I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth and trigger is running around my legs and begging for me to pet and play with him which is normal. Well, here’s my ‘bunny’ (Henry) moment for the day….
This morning was really cold (I know – you don’t want to hear about it, ha ha ha), so I closed all the doors and just had the heat on in the kitchen/family room. 9 o’clock came and Henry ‘sat’ there! 9.30 came and went….. Henry still ‘sitting’. I made the comment to the hubby, is Henry really waiting for my bedroom door to be opened so he can take himself off to bed??? I opened the door just after 10am – Henry troddled down the small hallway and took himself off to bed. Can you believe that???
He sat and waited (he normally takes himself off to bed around 9 each morning) and sat and waited some more, till I finally opened the door to my (his) bedroom! I’m not sure whether to say ‘dumb’ or DAM bunny!!!

Well, we all know he isn’t dumb! SIGH…….

Well, today was pretty uneventful. Except it was day 2 of no phone service. We were cut off prematurely. We were switched from regular land lines to internet phones. Those weren’t working very well. You couldn’t hear people on the other end. So they decided to switch us back to regular land lines. For some reason, they decided to disconnect the phones and internet service though BEFORE the regular phone company came out to hook up the phone lines through them. So yeah, nobody could call us and we couldn’t use the internet either. I would say things were peaceful, but there were a TON of yelling kids in there today. The YMCA brought a big group in and all the other sounds were completely drown out. =\

Mid 90’s here.  Very hot. Cotton keeps looking at his leash and harness.  No Cotton way too hot to take you out for a run.  Won’t chance you getting overheated.  Sorry. 

Hubby drive me nuts.  We walk to store by beach.  Need exercise but makes me so hungry.  lol.  He turned a/c off.  Good thing I come in to get my cane.  I close windows and turn a/c back on.  I say nothing as we resume walking. We get back.  We sit on a bench.  I say Fouad,   You can’t leave windows open and a/c off.  Its way too hot.  Bunnies are very suceptible to heat.  It can kill him.  He gets upset I am tired of hearing about cotton.  Cotton this Cotton that….  But I got my point across and he won’t do that again.  He realized how hot it was.   I am afraid to take a nap.  I may wake up to open windows and shut off a/c.  And fight about turning a/c back on.  Driving me nuts.  OH you dont’ like nature I like nature blah blah blah. I tell him go live in a tent. lol.  No I don’t like heat.  Not that hot.  When it rains he shuts everything off.  Last nite it rained.  I opened the door and 1 window leaving a/c on.  This is how its done and when rain stops shut door and windows.  Hope he gets it.  Rain comes in all over if all windows are open and shorts out a/c in bedroom so maintenance has to come replace parts.  Floor is all wet etc.  

I need my  own apartment.  I will send a note to office. This is crazy.  People here are on Social Security SSI Dissability.  Some sweat it out cuz they can’t afford a/c.  The light bill too high.  I feel for them.  We get assistance from some charitable organization for the electricity.  From 200-300.00.    Really helps.  Especially in summer.  This heat can make us sick if not careful.  Some meds can really affect that too. 

Hubby fasts everyday.  I hate that cuz when we walk he needs to drink water.  I  tell him if he dizzy let me know you need water.  He fasts cuz diabetes.  Anyway

Okay, out of the blue question. I applied on healthcare.gov last fall and was told I do not make enough money to qualify for a subsidy. As you know, I recently got a new job. I calculated it out and I would be right at the bottom cutoff for getting a subsidy. The problem is, what if I’m wrong? It says that if you make less than what you estimated, you will be required to pay the subsidy money back with your tax return. So if I fell below the cutoff, I would be forced to repay over $5000? If I don’t sign up though out of fear of that happening and I do end up making more than the cutoff, then I would have to pay a $95 per person penalty. Isn’t there like a “buffer zone” or something for people that fall right on the line? Because that really isn’t fair!

LBJ — I think there are quite a few people with questions about the new healthcare. Have you checked to see if there’s a number to call for help? I’m *guessing* that there would have to be some sort of an exception built in (like with underpayment penalties). If you think about it, people get promotions, change jobs, and lose jobs unexpectedly so incomes at sign up aren’t guaranteed to not change.

HUH LBJ and JR??? I know America and Australia are very different – but did I read right? You have to earn a certain amount to get cheap/free healthcare? And if you earn too little you have to pay it back? I won’t say anymore (for a change, ha ha ha) till I know if that’s the deal. Healthcare in Australia ‘USED’ to be awesome – not anymore! I’d be furious too bunnytowne! Back a couple of ‘pages’ ago I acknowledged that I didn’t like living with my hubby a few years back as I was so unhappy and felt he was unreasonable, lacked basic common sense and compassion. We had the same argument as you, even if the reasons may have been different at the time…. We paid a lot of money to get A/C installed along with the 2 units and an upgrade to our electricity box to support it. If ‘he’ didn’t feel the heat, he turned it off! Didn’t seem to matter that I was sweating while sitting still in a chair. I found myself sneaking to have it on to get stuff done when he wasn’t home and switching it off when he got home. I knew it was wrong that I was tolerating his poor behaviour, but I did – I sold my house to buy one with him, and I just couldn’t do it again…. Anyhow, we moved and did the same – bought the A/C’s etc., along with solar panels to offset the cost and bugga me – he did it again! So I bought the pets (dog’s only at the time) into the equation and he was all good – meaning, keep the pets cool, not so much me or the kid’s? (I thought that was seriously wrong! – we should ALL have been considered). Anyhow, once my youngest son finished school, got his drivers license and a job, I made it quite clear I wasn’t tolerating his crap anymore and I was outa here (I deserved so much better – from no one but ‘myself’, I did perfectly fine before I married him), and I have to be honest, the roles have now been reversed – I no longer hesitate to use the A/C for cooling or heating (and I am sensible about it) and I no longer tolerate being put in my place. Now when we leave the house in Summer – no one is to turn the A/C off because of ‘Henry’ and the dog’s (though we do leave them in the room together with only 1 A/C running – again sensible). I think I just get emotional when I hear someone experiencing what I endured for all those years, and having the burden of checking what someone has or hasn’t done every time you leave the room/house – it just makes me ill. I’m ashamed I didn’t stand my ground all those years ago. Anyhow, all is good now (and I can honestly say that) – I just wish I had the guts to stand my ground for myself and kid’s, like you did for your baby ‘Cotton’ – good for you bunnytowne!

JR – Yeah, the information is so vague. That’s why I was asking. I can’t imagine they would expect poor people to pay back thousands of dollars, but who knows. I’ve been trying to figure out who to ask.

AndHenry – It’s rather complicated. LOL Basically, we are now required to have health insurance. If we can’t get it through an employer, then we have the option to get it through a government-run exchange. If you make over 100% of what is considered the poverty line, then you qualify for a subsidy to pay for the insurance premiums. The more money you make, the less you receive for a subsidy (e.g. the more you pay out of pocket for health insurance premiums). But there is a “doughnut hole” so to speak. You see originally Medicaid (essentially free healthcare for poor people) was supposed to be expanded to include everyone making less than the poverty line. A bunch of state officials were mad, my state being one of them. So the rule was changed to say that Medicaid expansion was optional for each state. My state chose not to expand it. So here I am, poor and with no way to get health insurance. I got a new job, but I still don’t know if I will make enough money by the end of 2014. If I guess that I will make enough money, then I should qualify for a subsidy. But if I guess wrong and I don’t make enough money, then I really should not get the subsidy. If that happens, then I fear the government will want me to repay that money. I can’t afford to do that. If I don’t sign up and I do end up making enough money, then I will be subject to a penalty that will be counted on my tax return. Hopefully that makes sense. What I’m trying to figure out is what people in my situation are supposed to do. You would think there would be a buffer zone for people right around the cut off.

LBJ – I wouldn’t stress _that_ much about it. If you cannot afford health insurance, the fine is $95 for this year (or 1%). Not very much, compared to paying for health insurance. And the tax credit is based off your yearly income, but you can just call them and explain you make X amount per hour and you average X hours per week, but you cannot guarantee that you will get a certain amount of hours this year. And go off what they recommend. If you JUST want insurance to avoid the fine, you can look into the catastrophic plans, which don’t cover much of anything except huge emergencies and tends to be much cheaper (if you don’t make a lot, possibly even free, with the tax credit).

Most people I know are just eating the fine though, since it’s still so low. It will increase each year up until it reaches it’s full amount. It’s low now to not hurt all the people who couldn’t afford insurance instantly.

Edit: You can also see if you can file for an exemption with them. Here is the list of exemptions you can file: 

People will be able to apply for exemptions to the tax penalty if

1. they have financial hardships,
2. religious objections,
3. if they’re an American Indian,
4. if they’re uninsured for less than three months,
5. if they’re an undocumented immigrant,
6. if they’re incarcerated.

Sorry folks, not to take a political stance here, but because of certain clauses in the new laws, my employer had to disallow spouses who could get insurance elsewhere from being covered by the family healthcare they offer and that I was paying for. So, since my husband got kicked off my plan because his employer offers a crappy plan that covers primarily catastrophic issues with huge deductibles, my out-of-pocket expenses will increase this year by over $2000 in prescription meds alone for him, not even taking into consideration anything else healthwise. If he were unemployed, I could add him back to my insurance.

The states that have chosen to expand medicaid must fund the added costs themselves.

Someone didn’t think this whole thing through . . .

Stickerbunny – You don’t have to pay the penalty if you make under a certain amount. The penalty is $95 per person though, so almost $200 is what I would have to pay. I know that doesn’t seem like a lot of money, but I depend on my tax refund every year. I don’t want to get insurance simply to avoid the penalty. I want insurance because I want insurance. LOL But I don’t want to guess how much I will make, be wrong, and then be told I have to pay the subsidy money back when I file my tax return. That would be thousands of dollars! The subsidy can be directly applied to your premium. I know someone who is paying $16 a month for health insurance.

Yes, the tax credit is instant apply, I know. I’m not eligible, neither are a lot of people I know (oddly, the people I know working min wage who can’t afford health care are all denied, go figure), but checked it out when it launched. Have you tried calling them (https://www.healthcare.gov/contact-us/) and explaining your situation to see what they recommend for filling it out when you aren’t 100% sure of your income for the year? Generally, they are pretty helpful, since tax rules and regulations are always vague and confusing. I sincerely doubt you are the first person to be unsure due to a new job. 

 

Edit: After doing some research, it looks as if the recommendation is if you are unsure of your income and how much of a subsidy you should receive, you should file for having it given with your tax return instead of instant credit to the premium, to avoid having to pay any money back. I’d still recommend calling though.

I bought a pair of hiking boots yeasterday because I do hike a lot, but today I’m feeling unbelievably bad for spending that much money on myself. If I’d spent an equal amount of money on the pets I’d not feel bad at all. But this was for me. I always buy the cheapest stuff possible for myself.

There is a new anti-tick treatment for dogs that’s just come out in Sweden. It’s a pill. When the ticks bite they die within 12-24 hs. It’s called Bravecto. It has fenflurane/s. Have any one of you here heard of it or perhaps even tried it?

My Ephi gets a spot-on treatment every 4-5 weeks as it is. Since she really enjoys bathing (outdoors, that is, definitely not indoors bathing with shampooing and other dreadful, cruel treatments inflicted upon innocent German Shepherds), she tends to still get the occasional tick on her legs/belly. It’s of course not the ticks that worries me but the diseases they carry like Lyme disease. According to the makers of this pill, Lyme disease takes at least 12 hs to be transferred. But that’s of course if it’s only one tick. A dog can easily get like 15. So I’m doubtful about this pill. Any thoughts?

I just got the most amazing surprise bunny love! I usually wash my hands after preparing salads and before heading to the bunnies. Tonight I forgot. My M&Ms were still out for play time so I laid down on the floor with them before they had their salads. They ran straight to me, climbed all over me, binkied, snuggled up to me, climbed and binkied some more! I was in heaven! I told the hubby “I feel so loved!” Then hubby burst my bubble . . “You smell like mint and basil.” Not going to speak to hubby for the rest of the night, but I am going to start rubbing a little mint and basil on my neck and wrists from now on!!

Our healthcare system in Australia is very different LBJ (though, give it a couple of years more and I’m sure it will be like the States – we are getting more like the States every day with a lot of things besides healthcare…. Not to be offensive, but we Aussie’s have a ‘standard’ saying here – ‘we are turning in to America’!). Anyhow, if you are a low income earner you can apply for a (Government) Health Care Card which lets you access everything medical for free (WAITING list!) or at a low cost (but the application is painfull – I did it for my son once when he was a 1st year apprentice, the second year – I said YOU do it or don’t get sick! – Too hard, so he didn’t apply. Luckily he didn’t get sick). If you earn over a certain amount of income, your encouraged to get private health insurance. But if your in the middle (like me/hubby’s income) – earn too much for the Government Health Care Card or earn too little that you can’t afford private health insurance, well – don’t get sick! Otherwise, we just pay up front for services and medication (the emergency credit card isn’t just for Henry’s vet care).
I dunno, I always thought, as a tax payer (and we pay tax on our income weekly from our gross income – you do that differently too?) that education and healthcare should be a given? NOPE!
For all my complaining, after reading your concerns, I shouldn’t complain…. at least our system (for the moment) is a little easier to understand and navigate. Good luck LBJ! I’d get ‘sick’ worrying if there was a chance I’d have repay money too (especially for healthcare!).

AndHenry yeah things are really bad here. I’m hoping to move out of the country when I’m done with school. I hear Canada’s real nice if you like the cold and I could use a break from this Florida heat. ;p

Tohka’s finally getting fixed on Tuesday. I’m starting to worry like crazy. >.> I trust our vet, but I’m just a massive worry wort.

Bugga the cold BunnyBrigade – Canada??? It’s 19 degrees again as I sit here at my desk typing away, and I’m bloody cold! (AGAIN!) Lol….
So the heater will be switched on after I hit the ‘submit’ button! Ha ha ha….. I know Canada is beautiful – but way toooo cold for me! ha ha!

I’m still waiting to meet someone like me….. I couldn’t wait for Henry to be neutered (SPRAYING!), and getting my ‘new’ (repaired/fixed) bunny back. I was actually excited when I dropped him off, HA HA HA HA! (naughty bunny mummy!) Lol….

And Henry I can’t wait for the neuter! He has been helicopter peeing all over everything. >.< I've been singing to him every morning, "You're getting your balls chopped off". =p =] I just worry about the after part. Skipper had a hard time after her spay so I worry that Tohka might have a hard recovery. And yeah Canada is the closest place to escape to. ;p Not to mention I have some friends up there so it would be nice to go.

people here are so mean.   My roses uh Cottons roses.   Someone been picking the red ones leaving the white ones.  So I moved them upstairs.  Then someone cut the green buds off and only the green buds.  I counted and there were a lot.  Assholes.  

I moved them again.  Mad as can be knocked on 2 neighbors doors up here Nope not me nope saw nothing blah blah.  I will be taking them inside at nite  seems when this is happening.  Yes I grow them in pots and they are doing great.  

Ramaddan is upon us.  Hubby going away to masjid retreat for the month.  Just me Cotton and his roses.

I haven’t been on lately and I’m sooooo exhausted and just down.

Bonding is continuing to be stressful. Although everyone is living together, they are still picking on Tucker (they being nora, lacey, and simba). I’ve been getting no sleep thanks to them chasing him around. Then I noticed something was up with his eye. I’m not sure if someone got him in the eye (near the lid) or if he has an eye infection but now he’s on drops the vet gave me since she wasn’t in yesterday. I also feel like he’s been drinking a ton and urinating a ton (a lot more than I’m used to) since we got him. Vet said maybe stress. Well then today I realized he’s lost almost a pound. Taking him into the vet today. Exhausted from spending more time bonding them overnight in the Oxbow box where the jerks kept picking on him still. Of course, I’m still puking myself on and off whenever I eat and now my own weight is down 5 lbs. I had to call off work today since the only bun appt they had today was at 2.

Sigh.

TL – I don’t know if it’s a lop thing, coincidence, or something else, but my two lops drink WAY more than my other bun. They always drink more than Kieko, but sometimes they will empty both bottles. It comes and goes with them. The more active they are the more they drink (and eat hay).

Well I took my roses in at nite and they seem fine.  I got the white rose that was almost open.  It opened in the vase.  The green bud is still on it.  I went to office to write a report.  Nothing they can do if don’t know who did it but if we find out then I have a record of the incidents. 

So I got a 3 wheel bike hurrah.  Fouad found one for sale in a trailer park.  Practically new.  Love it.  Got a lot of stuff for it.  Ready to work on it today change 2 tubes oil chain wax it clean n polish the aluminum.  However it is rainy since yesterday so will have to wait.  I am real tired and sore anyway.  Walked to store once and home twice.  

Went to petstore in Melbourne by bus n got every willow ball they had plus a timoothy rolled carrot shaped toy.  Cotton chewed the rope off it last nite.  Thats ok thats what it is for.  Give him something to do at nite while we sleep lol.   I won’t have to go back for a couple of months since I have all those chews for him.  Plus supplies. 

I see people have been reading good books.  A bunny has an eye problem.  Tanlovers bunny.   And Tanlover you been sick.  No fun.  You will get your weight back once you feel better. 

My legs are so tired all that walking.  Hopefully I lost those 5 lbs too.  

Hubby forgot his cell phone so he is coming back from Orlando to pick it up.  And go back to Orlando.  Couldn’t imagine a month without a cell phone.  Yikes.  I wonder how I lived without one.  

Well I am fixing to go read now too.
