yea! i joined the ARBA(american rabbit breeders association) i am so super excited i have wanted this for a year!
okay. just had to tell SOMEONE.

You aren’t planning on breeding rabbits are you?
I think it should be illegal for breeders to breed any common animal ( house pet ) for a couple years and this is why Everyday in every city hundreds of animals are being put to sleep. a bet hundreds of thousands in weeks. for no reason except owners not wanting that pet anymore, people losing jobs, and just pure neglect.
Hi, bunnycutie,
I can understand your excitement, and am guessing from your post that you are going to show your bunny as a result of your membership with them?
Tabalab’s reply is indicative of the feeling about breeding on the BinkyBunny website. I don’t know if you noticed, but BB has a line above that states the following:
The subject of intentional breeding and/or meat rabbits is prohibited.
So, if you are planning on breeding your bunny, I’m afraid it’s excluded due to BinkyBunny policy.
But if you just wanted to share your excitement and don’t plan to breed, you’re most certainly welcome to continue as a member and share your stories of your Cutie and bring your insights to posts as you have done so far.
Have you given up on getting Buttons neutered and making him a house bunny? ![]()
Hi congratulations. I tried to send you a message thru the forum choices up top but it kept saying incorrect name. Drat.
I would like to know how it goes if you show.
I am not sure if I can say much more due to BB rules. Can you send me a message thru the forum choices up top? That way I can respond to the correct name.
Have fun. It is fun to be a part of a rabbit group
no no no. i will not breed him. this world has enough bun’s already
i haven’t given up on the house rabbit thing. i have convinced my mom to let him be a house rabbit thorough october-may (the cold months) so thats a start
ummmm, he’s just for showing. i thought it would be fun to join a group and go to some shows. my first one is actually a 4-h show. it is coming up in a few months. ![]()
i am very very sorry if i have upset anyone. i didn’t mean to. i understand how it can be thought that i would breed buttons because i joined the ARBA. i assure you he is just a pet i would like to show.
I just hope that you are not forced to choose between showing and being able to have Buttons in the house. Not neutering him will continue the littertraining problems and your parents aggravation- but neutering him will disqualify him from being shown.
How do rabbits kept in the house react after being in a show and around dozens?/hundreds? of other unaltered bunnies- will it increase marking?
I can’t tell from his pic- but his markings look pretty symmetrical- how does he compare to the ARBA standards and DQs? Is he steel colored? I had Dutch bunnies when I was a kid- but had Chocolate, Tort, Black and Blue. He has a tattoo in his ear- so you got him from a breeder? What kind of eval did he have from the breeder for show potential markings? I know sometimes they charge more for show quality markings and body type.
he has never had any problems litter training. he took to it in a day and never ever misses. as for my parents, they absolutely adore him. i assume being around other unaltered rabbits will not increase his marking, once he is removed from them. however if he does, it won’t be a problem.
his markings and confirmations don’t have any faults, except his left back foot has too much white. it “washes over” into the black. i purchased him from a local breeder. the breeder charged ten dollars extra for his show quality. if i show him at all, we might do well ![]()
Well, I am glad to hear that he is doing better with his littertraining and spraying urine since you first started asking about it a few months ago.
i have a male, one year old dutch, who, has a breeding obsession(if you know what i mean). when he gets very excited, he sprays pee all over the house, so now he has to live outside during the summer. he is also not really allowed to play in the house, even though he loves it so much. my parents do let him play in my room though. he plays alot outside on his harness and leash too. we would LOVE to have him as a house rabbit, but because of this, he cannot be. would neutering fix his hormone problems?
I can see he’s been working on his Pose. I give him 10 out of 10!
his need-for-breed has started to stop just like many magazines said it would. it should take about a year for his hormones to cease completely. the spraying has also begun to cease. infact, i can’t remember the last time he sprayed. i think he was just going thorough his “puberty” phase as most rabbits do. ![]()
jerseygirl- thanks for being so nice ![]()
Sorry if people jumped a little bit, BC. ARBA and 4H are all about breeding and raising rabbits so whenever they come up, some of us get a little bit touchy. They do have some good information about the health and physical care of rabbits – just not too much on the mental aspects of it.
A male rabbit doesn’t have the same health issues to worry about as a female rabbit does from being unaltered. If he’s doing well in tact, there’s no reason to change him. It does help many rabbits though become more calm and a better socialable pet if they are altered. I’ll be pleasantly surprised if Buttons turns out to be a peaceful pet – I only say this not because of his status of unsnipped but because I have a female dutch that even altered is still wickedness incarnate.
Yes, Maryann is a Dutch but, she is one of a kind!
My little Dutch man – who is fixed – is to goofy and in love with his sweet Kay to be evil.
Glad to hear you’re just planning on showing him. He is a beautiful example of a Dutch.
Mark knows what he’s talking about – his stories of Maryanne are almost legendary.
markbun- i think he has a shot at turning out pleasant. we’ll see.
sagecat- maryann is cute ![]()
rabbitpam- yep. he’s just for showin
thankyou for the compliment. i think he reflects the breed standard pretty well himself ![]()
