Job update!

So I was writing about this in another thread… but I got the job!  I was supposed to start today but the guy said “we’ll be in touch” and not “come in monday” so I had no idea.  So the partner thought I was a no-show when really I was a not-informed-waiting-for-offer person instead.  So I go in tomorrow morning at 8:30!

I’ll figure out my actual hours and how much I’m making and such later.  Do you guys think I’ll be making more than the $10 an hour the personnel agency said?  My cousin thought that maybe they’d start me at 10 then give me several raises before the year is up.  But maybe RabbitPam’s idea that it’s the hidden job market has some weight and I’ll be paid closer to the 20/hr that is expected for this position title because they interviewed me originally for a lesser position?

Make sure you get to Personnel the first day at some point, and get that job offer in writing, please.

After that, have a fun summer and learn a lot, and see what they had in mind. Most jobs reveal their true structure, and the people their true natures, within two weeks. You’ll know the lay of the land by then and can take the next step accordingly. Hope it goes well tomorrow! (paycheck, paycheck, paycheck, whoo hoo!)
