Jello like bump on rabbits stomach

So I was massaging my rabbit’s stomach and felt a small bump. It’s like a jello feeling. Not hard. I’m just wondering if anyone has experience this? Is this an emergency? I plan on bringing my rabbit to the vet soon (I’m probably calling tomorrow) to get her, her wellness exam needed before spaying her. She is under a year old, however she is a very big girl (not fat, just a large rabbit). I love her  to death and if this bump should be a huge concern, I will break into her wellness exam money and her spay money (i have them in envelopes and have enough for both). Please let me know what you recommend. I have college classes tomorrow and if I miss ENC i will fail the class.

I’m willing to take her to the animal ER but I’m not sure If they are able to do anything tonight because their small animal specialist is only in during the day

If she seems fine otherwise, a bump does not warrant an emergency visit in my opinion. I would ask about the bump at the exam before spaying, and if it’s something that needs to be removed, then they can take it off during the spay surgery, rather than putting her under twice. Otherwise, perhaps it’s a little hernia? I think they tend to feel soft and squishy.

There are definitely a lot of possibilities. I agree with Azerane though. If she’s going to be spayed soon anyway, if whatever this is needs to be addressed it can be addressed at that time. Things that come to mind are a hernia or a lipoma, but there are other possibilities as well.

The only thing I’m worried about is because she is a pet store rabbit . I know that I should of rescued but she was a gift to me that I cherish as that she is my child. I just don’t want it to be a sad situation where its from the production of animals for a pet store .
Again, yes I know rescuing is always better and when I get my little girl a friend, I will drive a few hours to a rescue to get her friend. She was a gift and I wouldn’t trade her for anything .

Does it look like it is protruding? If so, it could be a hernia. Is it a large bump, or just kind of there?

You can’t really feel it unless you try to (obviously not try to hard, wouldn’t wanna hurt my girl). The only reason I felt it was because I was massaging her stomach cause she was acting strange last night so I thought she could of had gas. I can’t say she was acting strange because of the bump she could of just been in one of her moods.

I made an appointment for her wellness exam that is needed in order to spay her. So I’m going to the vet tomorrow and will bring it up. I had every one in my family feel the bump and my dad thinks it’s something to get checked out although he doesn’t think it’s cancerous. My dad obviously isn’t a vet but has had many animals. Which everyone feeling it probably freaked her out so her mood after everyone did that was kind of explainable. I’m nervous for tomorrow and hope it’s nothing serious because I’m not made of money and I don’t want anything to be wrong with my baby girl :/

If it’s relatively flat on the surface then it could be a lipoma. You said she’s a big girl and they are more common in certain breeds and girl buns.

I went to the vet this morning and they took a tiny little sample of cells from it and the test they did confirmed that it is something. He said that it is a growth of multiple identical cells? I’m not sure what he exactly said, I should of asked for a copy of her file or something. However, he said he isn’t sure if it is something to worry about from the test he did. So we are just going to remove it when she gets spayed. 

I’m finally at ease with it and hope I can save up fast so we can get it over with!!

Did they identify the cells?

They did not, the test was a fine needle aspirate. Under the microscope, the vet (Dr. Cat) didn’t see anything that was a huge worry. The vet (Dr.Cat) who did my rabbits checkup didn’t seem as educated at the other vet (Dr. Rabbit). My mom ended up calling the animal clinic later in the day since I forgot exactly what they said and the other vet (the better one/Dr. Rabbit) said it wasn’t anything serious but was able to explain it better to my mom. Yes, my mom is worried about my rabbit as much as I am.  

Luckily, the (better vet. Dr. Rabbit) will be doing my baby girl’s surgery. I am going to ask for them to identify what it is. If they remove and test it or whatever. It would be nice to know what it is! I just hope testing it won’t cost to much extra. Luckily this animal clinic is very nice and especially the (better/ Dr.Rabbit) vet. The (better/ Dr.Rabbit) vet has dealt with many of my family dogs including putting one down which was years ago so he clearly doesn’t remember me but I still know that many people love him. 

By vet I mean there are to veterinarians at this animals clinic, there are 2. Dr. Cat (made up)  will be the vet I saw, which I wasn’t super happy with. Dr, rabbit (made Up)  will be the vet that seemed amazing and was the vet that my family’s dogs have seen and they love him. I found out when I got to my appointment by people in the waiting room that the vet “Dr. Rabbit” is really really good. And he seemed very very good from what I could hear him say while waiting. So when I say “better vet”, it is an opinion that I have formed. I tried to explain this, sorry if I failed lol. Confusing names, you can read past them if too confusing !

If the cells didn’t appear abnormal, then that’s good. I was just wondering since lipomas are not easily distinguished from other fat cells. If all the found we fat cells though, then I would assume it’s a lipoma. Hopefully that makes sense.
