Ah, the chaotic holidays are done! How did yours go?

 

My boss gave me a random Xmas Eve off, so I spent it being lazy

Today is my last day of work for 5 days. I am on a staycation  Just in time, my phone will be coming in the mail and I get to mess with it

John will be leaving this coming Sunday  It is his last semester at college! I will have to start saving to go down to this graduation in April

Ours went really awesome! my hubby has had a 3 day weekend and then a 4 day weekend, so I’ve gotten to see him tons <3 We've stayed home and relaxed and just had a great time

The holidays were pretty relaxing for me – we had a pretty small Xmas at my family’s house, then a New Year’s spent watching tv and drinking champagne with my bf. He’s here for two and a half weeks visiting, which is really nice. We’ve been hiking (there’s no snow on the ground, which is super weird!), watching tv, and relaxing. It’s been so nice.

Today we’re off to the arboretum nearby, then grocery shopping.

Blah shoot was just canceled, on account of it being 20 DEGREES OUTSIDE! and feels like 8 degrees. Thats insane.

My holidays were pretty good! I had a lot of vacation time left (no money for vacations after buying a house) so I was off starting Dec 22nd and just got back to work today. I’m not feeling the work stuff though – it’s so hard to come back and get up the motivation to start things again. Luckily nothing crazy happened while I was out – I did check my email every couple of days, but if things are bad I’ll get a call and nobody called me. Yay for a quiet holiday!

My parents visited for a couple days along with MIL and SIL – everything was quiet and I think they all had a good time (well, I know everybody but MIL did at least). I got a stand mixer from my parents (I picked it out, but I was still excited to get it!) and I’m learning how to make bread with it. I’ve made a lot of bread, but all by hand, so it’s been a bit of a learning curve to figure out how much flour to add when I’m not kneading by hand (typically I just do it by feel and don’t measure).

Otto looked very sad to be locked up this morning and watch me go to work. Poor buddy! He got used to the freedom every day.

oohhhh   thats cold.   We get in the 30s tonite here in sunny florida.    Wind was blowin today so none of us sat outside chatting.

I had gotten some chocolate wine.   You can’t drink but a very small amount.   Will put you to sleep lol.    Taste so good.  The neighbors liked it too

the holidays were much needed, I got 8 whole days off (not in a row). I spent most of it relaxing, cleaning and rearranging my house, going out because I didn’t have to worry about waking up at 7 AM the next day and dragging my butt to work =P sadly, that’s all done now, and I’ve got a 12 day work week (no breaks.. YIKES) coming up.

It’s been nice to have time to spend with my parents. We’re a little unconventional and don’t follow the lunar calendar year, so we just celebrate new years on January 1st. There is a Korean tradition, where you bow to your elders and they say nice stuff to you, and then we have rice cake soup =]

Also.. my boyfriend’s sister got me the hunger games trilogy and I’ve been nose deep in the books since Christmas! highly recommended =D

Omg, that horrible little turd bit me again tonight! What is his problem? I get out the pumpkin cookies from BB and sit down. He comes over and gets in my lap looking for one. I give it to him and he’s eating it out of my hand (he has to crunch it apart). We’re all good. Then he was finished, starts looking around, and CHOMP! I screeched and jumped, he went flying a little bit since my legs went up in the air. He stumbled to the floor, ran behind the plant stand, and sat there pouting.

One of my regular customers came through my line today. She is as crazy about her dog, as I am about Chacha bun! She has a keychain attached to her bag, and the keychain has a photo in it She always changes the keychain photo! She has been wanting to see Miss Diva for a while, so she sai she has another keychain that she can bring for me! LOL!

She came back 3 hours later. I am the proud owner of the burgandy heart keychain! I’m going to put the keychain on my clock in key (I can just take it out of my apron and show my customers that ask about Chacha haha!) and change the photo

Yay!

I’m done with work for 5 days!! YAY!

My dad is making Angus burgers and fries for dinner :X *DROOL*

I’m not sure what’s going on, except that we now know he is deaf. The time before this, he wasn’t eating anything. He was just sitting in my lap. This time he was eating something, but he had finished it. I don’t know if he just wants down or what. I don’t understand why he would bite though. I mean, he can get down. Why not just get down? I’m not holding him there.

Aww! Chacha! That is awesome! I sometimes miss being a cashier. I miss my customers. I had a family that would drive way out of their way (at least that’s what they said) and wait longer than they had to, just to go through my line. I loved them. The two girls in the family were on a soccer team and I would always ask them how their team was doing.
Yesterday I went to a dollar store in town and one of my repeat customers was working there. He said “are you not working at WM anymore? I haven’t seen you in a long time.” I explained that I had been moved to the back room and so I never get floor time anymore. I had another guy that would come in and we would swap recipes for tasty treats. I got a tasty chili dip and he got my fruity pebbles treats.

This week, I am modifying my degree, adjusting my work and class schedule a little and then doing the deepest clean on this apartment it has ever had! BF quit smoking! He is still using an e-cigarette but there is no second hand smoke and it is costing a lot less. It’s been a week and a half and he already has a lot more energy. I am really happy for him!!!… and my own health! I want to clean all the tar off the walls and get all of the dust out of this place… I also need to pull out the fridge and oven and clean behind them. I am going to change the filters and clean the carpet and couches.

So far, my Jan is good… Tipsy is calming down from her hormone episode via spay and school is about to start! cant wait! I dont like being lazy. Looking at engagement rings right now wink wink tehe, cant say when though.
Took my grandma dog to the dog park today. She has one eye and can barely see out of the other and she is going slightly deaf. It has been a while since she went to the DP, and she would get “lost” a lot. So this time, I followed her real close the whole time and she loved it cause she got to enjoy the DP and not have to worry about getting lost. She would look back to check to see if I was still following her, and I would talk to her and she would cock an ear to let me know she heard me haha she is so cute. We went to pick up dog food and normally ppl get weirded out by her lack of an eye, but this guy was so nice to her! He fed her so many treats while he showed us good quality senior foods! Then she started demanding treats haha love that old grandma dog.
OMG just witnessed the cuteness and got it on camera! It happens all the time but I never catch it!

Tipsy will run over to Pearl and lay down under her so that Pearl can lick her ears!  It is the darndest cutest thing ever!

I’d like to get an iPhone some day. I have a Blackberry (don’t like it, but it works) and I’ve wanted an iPhone for a while but wanted to keep Verizon. In general I’m not an Apple fan, but I think the iPhone is a great product.

I have the newest IPhone but I don’t use any of the functions on it like Seri or whatever her name is that my brother and father do. I just use it as a phone and sometimes a notepad. I pretty much had to change because we all use the same company and stuff for our phones which we pay with our business account.

Overall though, I’m a very big Apple fan – I love my Macbooks alot.

Sarita, my one reason to not get an iPhone is that I probably won’t use any of the functionality either. I do really like having a smart phone for checking Google Maps and occasionally looking up a restaurant or whatever when I’m out somewhere, but generally I just use it as a phone. But since I’m already paying for a smartphone plan I might as well stick with it and get an iPhone. Maybe I’ll actually use more functions since it’ll work much better than my blackberry.

I’m very much against Apple, as they charge so much for a product it’s crazy. And they get away with it because people will buy it just for the name, even if they can’t use non apple products with it. I’ll give crap to anyone that if I feel strongly enough about it And don’t get me started on Sony either lol.

I buy Apple because it is an amazing product. I LOVE my macbook, it’s lasted longer than any other pc laptop I’ve owned or my husband has owned (he still uses a PC). I haven’t found a product I’ve needed/wanted to use and couldn’t because I have an Apple. You get what you pay for, I paid something like 1400 for my laptop, and the support I’ve received from english speaking reps + the quality of my laptop itself is well worth the money that *I* worked for and decided to spend on it. I literally can’t stand the hypocrisy of self-proclaimed Apple haters. Its just a brand. Who CARES??

MB, they are more expensive but from what I understand (and I’m no geek person), the cost that you might invest in an Apple is because they already have the software uploaded and that is not the case with regular computers. But like, I said, I’m not a computer geek.

What I do like as well from Apple is that they truly do have superior customer service compared to other computer companies in my experience. I think their employees truly love the product and are very well trained and very loyal to their product. It’s hard to find this in a company now and days.

For my job, I have to use a PC because most of the companies I work with use that platform, but I don’t enjoy working on a PC after havig a MAC.

I try not to be an Apple snob like my brother and dad though but I do enjoy their products :~)

BMWs are insane when it comes to maintenance costs. It costs us like 1000 every time we go in for a service, which luckily is only ever year to a year and a half… bah. Glad we have the subaru too But the BMW gets us there faster and in more style

I’m not exactly Pro PC either. Although PCs are more versatile, and there are tons of open source programs for them that cost nothing. And gamer friendly. And more affordable, which is more important these days than ever with the economy. So there you have it

I know there are more “worthwhile” things to get worked up over, but honestly… theres enough people getting worked up over them. I’ll stick to getting worked up over something that not as many people seem to care about

Speaking of GPS’s, does anyone have one that they recommend? I bought a Tom Tom and that thing is terrible. It doesn’t give exit numbers. It just says “Exit right in X yards” and then there will be like 5 exits right next to each other. Then you will be almost passing it when it suddenly says “Exit right”. Not a good thing in heavy traffic.

LBJ10-I would recommend the Garmin a thousand times over. The reason from what I understand they also own the satellites and/or came up with the technology…I can’t recall but they are in the best position to have the best product. The maps on all GPS are external…so if there is an error in your map it would be wrong on Magellan and tom tom and Garmin. But Garmin is my favorite. Had one for six years, it finally broke down-replaced it with a Garmin. The new one has way more functionality and has live traffic updates (didn’t think traffic would work here-thought it was more USA big city) but it works all the time. The arrival time is always correct. I do not drive without it-it’s fantastic.

So I have to brag about our weather…I don’t want to jiinx it though so I’m knocking on wood. We hit 12 today…12 in January in Edmonton. That’s PLUS 12 Celsius. If this could keep up for one more measly week so we could move in this balmy weather….

I don’t use Linux, mostly because I am a huge gamer, and Linux often has issues being compatible So I do use Windows 7. My hubby uses Linux alot, and its what our server runs on. yes, we have a server for some stuff lol.

Glad to hear that everything went well!  I know how nerve racking it is to wait for the call to let you know when to get your little one.  Drives me insane!!  I think its probably the cutest and most sad thing to see the litte buns all sleepy from their surgery.  They just look so cute!!  You just want to cuddle with them, wrap them in a towel and rock them to sleep, but you know they would just push you away and turn their back on you hahaa

I can’t believe that the holidays are over for another year! I’m glad but, man, time flies. I was shopping last night and saw the Valentine’s stuff and was in disbelief of the date and then, in the next aisle, there was Easter stuff. I love Easter but I hate how the stores are pushing all seasons/holidays so early, not just Christmas. Life goes by fast enough, I want to enjoy the season I’m in at the moment, thank you very much.

I’ve had it for a few years so the model number probably doesn’t help, but I got a slightly older one that was cheaper ($150 I think) at the time rather than one of their super expensive models. It was one of the first to read street names, so it does read exits as well. I would look online for a GPS comparison website (I know there are a few out there) and see what they recommend. I basically picked the features I wanted (like reading street names, but not necessarily having traffic reports) and went from there.

Lady’s back! My fabulous husband picked her up so the girls and i wouldn’t have to brave the cold later, heh. She’s so sad Samson knows somethings up and keeps coming in and sitting by her pen, I’m trying to figure out if I should make her move or let her be. She seems worried not aggressive, and Lady doesn’t seem to care either way, poor girl. She mowed down on her pellets, which is good. No poops yet though.

Okay, thank you! Street names and exits would be a huge help. Like I said, mine will say “Exit righ in X yards” and there will be 5 exits right next to each other. No joke! LBJ- I’ve had both a Magellan and a Garmin and I prefer the Garmin. Plus the Garmin can be updated with the computer and has more preference settings compared to my Magellan that cannot.

The Apple vs PC discussion seems to have generated some misunderstandings regarding tones and intention.   Sometimes “joking” and “sarcasm”  can come off as rude even when it was never intended that way, and so a simple polite response explanation can be all that is needed to set things straight. 

This does not mean that you cannot voice an opposing view point either. A good way to express an opposing view point is to make sure you stick with what you would do, why you believe the way you do, but don’t pick apart why someone else is wrong.  Know the difference between a personal opinion and a personal attack. It is equally important that the person reading (being on the receiving end) of an opposing view point understand that difference as well and not take a personl opinion as a personal attack. 

When a misunderstanding does happen though (and it is easy to do that in these formats), please just try to politely and respectfully explain intention. — otherwise, perceived heated responses can either heat things up or cause alienation.

My holiday was fine. Stressful. I’m glad it’s over with. It also didn’t help that my extended family on both sides decided to have the annual holiday shindigs in the MIDDLE OF THE WEEK. I work 11:30 to 8pm and someone HAS to be there so I just can’t leave early or anything. So that was very frustrating for me. But it was a good holiday anyways. I ended up getting a bad sinus infection New Year’s weekend which I am still trying to get over. Complete with the gross red and chapped nose. Sigh.

I have to say that I am jealous of those with an Iphone. I have wanted one for the longest time. I am due for a new phone this summer, so I’m going to try to save up for one. I do understand both sides – pro Apple vs anti Apple. I take it as any other brand loyalty – chevy vs ford, one sports vs another, and so on. It’s just preference.

Lolli is her usual fat and sassy self. Always tail giggling at me. LOL She continues to make me laugh and surprise me. Especially when she just randomly comes up and nose bumps me and then hops off.

I hoping to get in better shape this year and get my stupid spine figured out. We’ll see on both. lol

Hello everyone. My holidays went well but were uneventful. However, January and the months to come are going to be very exciting for me. I’m going to be getting my bunny at the end of this month/early feb. He is going to be another Flemish Giant to add to the community. So, the rest of this month will consist of preparations for the little(eventually BIG) guy. I’m waiting with anticipation!

Awww, You can really see the concern in Samson’s eyes. Are they bonded already or do they only interact between pins? If they aren’t bonded, it seems like you won’t have much trouble if do decided to bong them. If Samson cares this much for Lady, they must be pretty good pals.

Well…. if my bf will ever drag his rump out of bed, we have plans to go to the lake! The weather has been freakishly wonderful (it was 70 yesterday, usually we never get above 45 in January) plus, we got the motorcycle running again. He had to replace a clutch cable. Yesterday we rode with a buddy of ours to the neighboring town and went to a diner. So, today, we have plans to go to the asian mrkt for Huckle’s veggies and then out to the lake to do some fishing. I want to collect some rocks too, because I just got a rock tumbler and I am excited to use it!
Tomorrow, I want to clean the house top to bottom. I have had plans to do this all week but it hasn’t happened yet. Then, Monday, it’s back to school.
To quote my mom, this holiday was like a sneeze! We waited and waited for it, got all worked up for it, then all of a sudden, it was over and we had a nasty mess to clean up.

Me and the bf plan’s this weekend all revolve around the kid, Bunjamin. He’s getting his room redone (mostly the flooring) and we’re starting his condo. The condo will be his present after he is fixed and he’s fully recovered since I know they aren’t suppose to move a lot afterwards. This weekend we’re hanging out with some friends. Two guys at work are very good friends of ours and the fiancee of one of them is coming into town for the weekend (she’s currently still in Boston, so only a couple hours away). I want to go to a new BBQ place, but I guess she’s worried about her weight for the wedding (and the weight of her fiancee … lol) so that might be off the table. This guy is moving over an hour away once he gets married (working for a difference part of the same company we’re at now) so it’s sad to think we won’t have too many more days to spend with him.

there’s an abandoned mine at the top of one of the bike trails up the block. huge chunks of white quartz laying all over the place. some of them would look cool in my yard, but im not about to descent 900′ down a bunch of steep switchbacks on my bike with a 150lb backpack full of rocks to get them a mile to the nearest road.

Well, my plans fell through… right before he woke up, I took a nap and ended up sleeping all day.. oops! Maybe tomorrow! My sleep schedule is all from working the graveyard shift last night.

I just got my last order from Modcloth. The skirt I got is terrible, it totally does not fit. I don’t think it matches up to the supposed measurements for a large. But at least I got their cute bunny pen holder. It clips onto the side of your notebook. Has anyone seen it?

I feel sort of antsy right now. I wish I could go biking. It was 68 degrees yesterday. It was a new record. The temp was about 20 degrees cooler today and it’s supposed to be in the 40s for the weekend and first part of the week. After that, they are saying that temps should be “back to normal” which is 20s and 30s. =p

hahahahahahaha I just cannot stop laughing. I am so thankful to have a lazy french bulldog that can stand the craziness of a young rabbit. I am in bed and Tipsy decides to ambush Pearl while she is sleeping (Pearl is in her dog bed on my bed). So Tipsy jumps up on my bed and lands on top of Pearl and all Pearl does is, slowly gets up, and looks at me like, “You are really just going to sit there and laugh?” Man I love this duo.
My plans this weekend are kind of falling through as well, but I hope to get them finished before I have to leave to go back to school. My plan is to go to the zoo, head to the Chinese Cultural Center… mmm those custard filled little goodies are calling my name!!!, and I need to stock up on Tipsy items before I leave as well… I am never going to find rabbit toys and cheap food anywhere than the place I have found!!
Oh and another thing… Tipsy’s true inner wild bunny was calling today. She was foraging for grass roots haha. She dug a hole to China to get the roots in my sisters yard, luckily, she didnt seem to mind as it was in the chicken area. Oh, and I think she deliberately chases the chickens because they are afraid of her and she likes the power.

Sarita, how sad! Mules are fantastic. DH isn’t interested in letting me get a horse on our property, but I’ve shown him videos of mules and he’s much more on board with that. lol They’re pretty amazing.

Ugh, our dishwasher just sort of died. It hasn’t done a great job since we moved in a few months ago, but I hoped it would last longer than it has (I assume it’s more than 10 years old). Now it’s just making sad dying noises and after running two cycles the dishes are still completely dirty (even crumbs on a plate are still there, not just stuck on food). So now we’re buying a new dishwasher! There are so many options, but we get a discount on GE through work, so that narrows it down. DH is in his researching mode, but after 45min of this I’m ready to just order the darn thing. All of our appliances are white, so I’m also excited to take the first step towards stainless steel! Maybe after we get one SS appliance, DH will have a hard time saying no to more (at least that’s my evil plan).

When they bring the new one, do they take away the old one automatically? Or do you have to pay more for that?

We had some friends over tonight and the bunnies have become such social creatures. Otto was up on their laps begging for food in no time. Just 6 months ago they hated strangers and would hide until everyone left, but lately they’ve been getting used to visitors (treats help) and are actually friendly. I’m proud of them!

Elrohwen – It depends on where you buy the new one from. It all else fails, you can probably just take it to the jump yourself. That’s what we did with our old dishwasher. Drove it in there and then heaved it off the back of the truck.

Yeah, so I have completely wasted the evening. I spent hours looking online at stuff I wish I could buy and watching Charlie the Unicorn on youtube. Hopefully I can get this time wasting stuff out of my system, considering that school starts this week.

Thanks LBJ! We do have friends a mile or two away with a truck we can borrow, and the dump isn’t that far off either, so if we had to do that it wouldn’t be that difficult. We’re buying it online to get the discount, so it’s not like it’s Sears, or Home Depot, or whatever – I don’t really know what company it is (it might be direct from GE for all I know). We got a washer and dryer from there a few years back, but our apartment didn’t have one to haul out.

Oh, we’re also pretty sure Otto is deaf now. lol It seems there are always posts about holland lops, suspecting them to be deaf, and I’ve always had that hunch about Otto. The only odd thing is deaf animals are often more skittish, but Otto is so laid back. In another move that made me think he was deaf he walked right up to the vacuum cleaner (while I was using it) and nose bumped it. What animal does that? He was so curious about the thing and I know he initially felt the vibrations, but I can’t believe he can hear it if he’s willing to stand next to it for so long.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A Madison man with an unusual name is in jail after police said he violated his bail conditions from a previous run-in with the law.

Thirty-year-old Beezow Doo-Doo Zopittybop-Bop-Bop is tentatively charged with carrying a concealed knife, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and a probation violation after his arrest Thursday. He remained in jail as of Sunday. Jail records don’t list a bail amount or an attorney for him.

The Capital Times reports (http://bit.ly/z7IOdM) he was arrested after residents complained of excessive drinking and drug use near Reynolds Park.

Court records show his previous name was Jeffrey Drew Wilschke, and he legally changed it to Beezow Doo-Doo Zopittybop-Bop-Bop in October. He was arrested in another Madison park last April after police found a loaded handgun in his backpack.

Saw it with my family, it was good! But I agree, certain parts were really sad, especially one moment towards the end that had me basically bawling, I just pictured my own horse . 

 

Well, Wisconsin finally got our first real snow this season. Expected up to 8 inches in the next 48 hours. It snowed a ton today, the roads were pretty bad after school, I saw a couple buses stuck and heard there were lots of accidents. *Snowday tomorrow please!*

yeah but I felt better slightly seeing them because last time I was in there they had no hay and there was different size ones (looked to be from different liters) and this time it was only 2 buns and they had hay and all the other necessities. But oh the cuteness!

We got snow too, Bunnyfriend.
Usually, by this time Oklahoma is pretty cold. We average around 40*, but this year has been very unusual. It stayed between 55*-75* until last night. Last night, the temps plummeted to 16* and we had our second snow (the first to stick) this season. It was so beautiful! It didn’t last long because I think we reached 50 today, but it was nice while it lasted.

Classes started this week. I think this will be my first truly enjoyable semester. Everything is going really well. I have the perfect schedule and I love my classes. We will see if that stays the same throughout the semester hahaha! Tonight, my homework is to spend an hour with my sketchbook… I have to draw three items in my apt that mean the most to me… it’s not as easy as it sounds… I have been working on it for about 2 hrs now. Tomorrow, I get to draw my biggest accomplishment and my greatest regret. That will not be fun!

They are cute, especially when they are babies. I know it’s better to adopt. There really aren’t a lot of rabbits available for adoption around here. To my knowledge, there are no rabbit rescues in the area and the humane society rarely has bunnies. The most I ever saw there at one time was 3.

hmm maybe it’d be justifiable if the humane society didn’t have any rabbits (and if they did you could try dating but if that didn’t work) you could go back and visit petstore… hmmm I know, I’m bad. I’ll go sit in corner after posting this

around me there’s too many rescues/humane societies/stupid owners on craigslist for me to go get another from pet store. Plus I think bunjamin likes flying solo for right now. He rules the house! (he’s the only animal at our primary residence and he rules the hooman slaves very strictly)

I probably won’t just get another bunny just because. Like I said, I don’t want to upset the balance. My boys get along so well. I wouldn’t want to try bunny dating with rabbits at the feed store (or a pet store) since if one came from there I would want to have them checked by a vet first to make sure they don’t have something that’s contagious.

Leopold actually did come from the feed store. He was across from the baby chicks. My husband saw him and just had to have him. We had looked at the humane society before that and hadn’t seen any. So it’s not like we didn’t try. Wooly came from a coworker who didn’t want him. He was sort of an unexpected addition, I’m so lucky he and Leopold hit it off so well.

I always check out the bunnies at my pet store, but that is because they are some of the buns I work with at OHS So I always go to make sure they are doing well when out at their little outreaches

I want another bun. We are planning on moving in the late spring. If everything turns out ok and if I dont have to pick up a 3rd job to afford the place, I will consider taking a trip to the rescue here. It’s an hour or two away, but that is no problem. Our pet stores don’t have rabbits. I avoid the feed store where I got Huckleberry because I know I wouldn’t be able to resist those cute little faces all so desperate for a home.
What I am really looking forward to is having a yard, garage and laundry room again… and a 2nd bathroom!!!! We are already about 90% sure on an area of duplexes that a few of our friends live in. Since it is a college town, several will pop up for rent at that time. We just need to find the one we like the most (and that will accept rabbits, of course)

If there aren’t any rabbits available for adoption in your area, you should try looking for breeders. I’d much rather get a baby bun from a breeder who cares about her rabbits than a pet store where they’re probably from a mill with horrible conditions. Just a thought 🙂

Yesterday I worked from home the whole afternoon waiting for our new dishwasher to be delivered. It was supposed to come between 2 and 6, and at 5:58 someone called and said they’d be 30-45min late. Ok, no big deal. So they show up at 6:45, check over our current dishwasher and then say that they don’t have the special brackets they need to install the new one. What the heck! There was a mandatory $30 fee for an “installation kit” that came with the dishwasher, but apparently it doesn’t come with these special brackets for mounting it to non-wood counter tops. I think a ton of people now have granite or some other solid counter, so why wouldn’t the installation kit come with those brackets? I’m so mad. Now we have to pay another $25 for the brackets and call them deliver again. They deliver on Tuesdays and Thursdays and I’m guessing we won’t get the bracket by Tuesday, so then we’ll be without a dishwasher for 2 weeks. I’m definitely calling the company to complain today and try to get some of our money back for the delivery being so late and not telling us that we needed to buy more parts.

I introduced the bunnies to banana tonight – smash hit! lol I had strawberries, blueberries and banana for dinner tonight (ok, well, a very SWEET dinner – I just got back from shopping and it was soooo hard to resist the yummy fruits) so I let them each have half a slice of banana. AND I found a good deal on craisins – 5 bags for $5 .. though it’s way more than they need since they don’t get that much fruit and I don’t like craisins. Oh well.

It’s been a baaad week for RA this week. One of our volunteers woke up last saturday to find 18 bunnies abandoned on her porch. A couple hours later, it was discovered a bunch of rabbits had been stolen from a meat collective. Guess where those stolen rabbits ended up?

So yeah. We had to return the rabbits yesterday to where they could be slaughtered, or RA could have faced charges, and possibly been shut down. And several members could have lost their jobs with the charges on their records. Fun times.

On the bright side, the owner of the rabbits is contemplating an offer we have ont eh table to get them back. Hopefully we do!

That breaks my heart, MB. I’ve been following along on RA’s Facebook page. I can’t understand how people can do that to rabbits. Truly makes me doubt humanity.

I’m crossing my fingers for all those precious bunnies! If you all make enough of a stink and get the media involved as much as possible hopefully the owner will feel pressured.

The thing with petitions is that they don’t usually work. Companies can ignore them at will and really have no consequences.

The part that annoys me the most is people getting mad at us for giving them back, even though receiving stolen goods is a crime, and can get RA shut down if we were to keep them. Which could cost people their jobs, if they are to have a charge on their record. Or in my case, even deported! There is more at stake here than the bunnies’ lives, and people can’t see that… if RA gets shut down, what would happen to the rest of the rabbits we could help?

Ugh, I get why someone would want to steal buns from a meatery… but if you’re going to do something illegal, keep the consequences to yourself! People should be mad at the people who put RA in that position, not the rescue for doing what the law requires.

And petitions can work, as long as they are worded properly and sent to the right person. For one, it gets media coverage if you get a lot of signatures. For two, it gets the word out. For three, companies PR firms hate seeing 100,000+ signatures on a petition, because they know it’s bad PR for them. Petitions worked to save a gorilla in Florida from his horrid enclosure after his mate died, worked to save the geese where I was staying in NJ from being rounded up and slaughtered (all your voters signed it, you better listen city council). Now, you’re right it doesn’t work for LARGE companies, cause really… wal-mart doesn’t care if 200,000 people are mad at them, they could lose a million customers and still be fine. But small companies ? They care about their reputation more than most people think.

How was everyone’s Friday the 13th?
Mine was great! A friend came into town. So he and several others, including my bf, went to our hometown (about an hour and a half away) and spent the night at the Holiday Inn. We went to a few clubs in the downtown area. We found a new one that was a 1980’s themed retro pub. IT WAS AWESOME! I’m not usually into 80’s retro stuff, despite being born in “85, but this was great! They had a slushy machine for mixed drinks haha. There were old arcade games everywhere that only cost a quarter. There were old tvs everywhere playing clips from Superman, Back to the Future, Ghost Busters… they blasted 80’s music. It was a ton of fun!

The person with the ebay auction stole Mike’s picture. They didn’t save the image, they just copied the image location of Mike’s picture and then pasted it into the HTML of the auction. So as a little revenge, Mike changed the picture (kept the address the same) to a naughty picture of dolls posed in a certain way. This image was appearing in the auction and the seller didn’t know it. Looks like they figured it out now though because it’s gone.

Today, my boss did something awesome! She found and applied for a scholarship for me (it was something for employees)!!! I did not ask her to, I didn’t even know about it, she just pulled me into her office to ask for my mailing address and student code. Then, she explained that it was for a scholarship and a letter of recommendation she was writing for me. I feel very appreciated right now!!

LOL LBJ!

We are moved in!! Animals have settled in though the bunnies are in temporary housing as Dave couldn’t finish the condo in time, but that’s ok because with as much room as they did have the litter habits were not perfect, so a smaller area with ‘out’ time is ideal and going well.

And that beautiful weather we were having? It’s 50 below at night with the windchill and 30 below as highs without the windchill during the day. It’s absolutely disgusting!! *cries* we’re back up to above seasonal (knock on wood) by Sunday…yikes! So glad it wasn’t this cold when all the guys were moving our stuff, what a terrible day that would have been!

It’s so quiet in the country and we are just loving it! The new carpet and beamwork (removing posts) in the basement has made so much difference and in the basement by the fire is the place to be right now. And the internet got setup on time and isn’t too slow! Awesome Only one TV hooked up so far-it’s like we’re living in the dark ages lol

I made my first pot in ceramics today!!! It looks like a 12 inch tall potato… so, I need to practice haha

I decided to go to yoga today, for the first time. I got there and waited… only to find out that the class I had planned on joining was a Mon/Wed class, not a Tue/Thur class. *DERP* A friend of mine and I are planning to go next week during the correct time! I am looking forward to it. We will work out first and use yoga as a cool down!

What’s wrong with pizza and beer? I’m confused.

Frankly, I have no idea. I can’t consume vodka anymore. It makes me ill. Pizza and beer is a better combination.

The power went out yesterday morning. I was off, so I just hibernated all day long. It came back on around the same time it went out yesterday. Some of the people in the apartment complex STILL had power

The bunnies are annoying with their hay lately. I have two hay racks positioned above/near the litter boxes, both are actually soap/shampoo holder thing for a bathtub (so just medium sized wire thingies). I used to be able to fill them up every couple of days, but lately they pull all of the hay out while eating it so they’re empty every day. They dump the hay on the ground and won’t it it there, plus Hannah will pee on any hay outside the litter boxes, so I end up piling it all in the boxes. I’m going through so much hay! Just eat it bunnies, don’t dump it on the ground.

I got a tooth purr out of Stickers last night she’s been taking pets more and less skittish in general, yay. Earning that little girls full trust has been a trial, had her getting close to a year and she’s just now getting comfortable enough to let me walk near her without bolting.

Bragging-now that we are moved and have some room-I got two bales (real bales!) of hay! And I found out that I can fit two vacuums, a dog crate and dog, and two bales of hay in my corolla!! lol I`m so pumped to have so much hay! They laughed when I asked for 1-2 bales but said I could keep their number for buying hay later!!! WOOT! it`s been an issue finding someone who would sell such a small amount. Wonder if I could get a round bale delivered lol

we might do this too… My bf also for a while was trying to learn to flop like bunji does so he could get some attention. I need to see a thump though! Bunjamin has only done it a couple of times and I only hear it not see it so I have no idea how to immitate it.

I am going to cry. I am having a hard time with my stats class. I don’t know if I’m just not understanding the material or if the questions are worded too weird that I’m not able to process what they are asking. There is an assignment due each week. The first assignment, I got an 86%. The second assignment (the one I just did), I got a 76%. I am so worried I am going to fail this class.

I sent them an email, hopefully I didn’t sound whiny. The textbook is so difficult to read because we had to pay for a digital copy. If you want a hard copy, you have to pay $200 at the book store. Anyway, I am constantly scrolling up and down trying to figure things out. I tried using my iPad to look at it (since you can turn the screen the other way and then you can “flip” the pages), but it doesn’t work. Turns out the digital textbook is Flash and not a PDF. iPad can’t do Flash, so it’s just a blank screen.

LBJ, can you work with other students? I majored in chemical engineering and I wouldn’t have made it through the majority of my problem sets without other people. It’s great when another student gets it and can explain to you.

LBJ- I feel ya. Stats was rough for me at first until I got the hang of it. What level of stats is it?
Another idea is most schools have a resource center where you might be able to find tutor too until you get the hang of it. But I would definitely talk to the teacher. MOST don’t want you to fail (because they don’t want to see you again haha) and if nothing else it shows him your grades aren’t due to a lack of effort but that you don’t understand the material.

LoveChaCha – It would be a lot easier to read if I could see it on my iPad. My husband wants an iPhone, but I don’t think he should get one.

Elrohwen – The class is online. I think I’m the only student that is even on campus. There are people in the class from all over the place. It would be nice to have someone to work with.

FrankieFlash – This is graduate level. I took a class as an undergrad and then did stuff for my biology courses. I am really only familiar with standard deviation, chi-square, and t-test. This is more advanced stuff, I guess. The stuff we are going over right now is supposed to be review stuff, but I am not familiar with it at all. It isn’t anything I ever did in undergrad. We are starting on Chapter 7. I looked at the chapters before it that we aren’t going over. It seemed like information I already knew. For some reason, it just doesn’t feel like it is tying into the stuff we are learning. Like there was a leap in there somewhere. If that makes sense.

I emailed the professor. He didn’t respond to me. I have no clue where his office is or if he’s there.

There is a tutoring center, but I wonder how helpful they would be since most classes they cover are the big ones that are required for a lot of undergrad majors.

He finally responded to my email. He acted like he didn’t know why I was so concerned. Basically, he just told my not to worry. The homework assignments are only worth 15% of our total grades. I’m not necessarily concerned about the homework scores. I am just afraid that if I’m doing poorly on the homework, then it might be an indication I will do poorly on the exams. =\

I always seemed to learn more by going over my homework and tests when they were given back to me, seeing how it was marked and why I got the mark. See where you went wrong and see how you can fix it

The washer in the apartment hasn’t been completely spin drying the clothing. My dad called maintenance about it and they put in a new part.. and it still does the same. I think it is time for a new washer, but it is hard to prove =/. Very recently, one of the loads didn’t spin dry all the way, and my dad put it on the spin part, and the washer went haywire! it started to jump O_o

Chinatown was not too bad I was a little sad that the produce section didn’t have any dandelions.. *sigh* I wish I lived in my old house. My dad never treated the lawn. He hated weeds, but I’m sure he would pick the dandelions out if I told him that Chacha likes to eat dandelions.

I’m still a little sick. I took a little nap from 6-8 last night (or tried to) on the living room couch. Before I settled onto the couch, i cleaned somebunny’s blanket off. When I turned the light out, I kept hearing light thumping, and I rolled over. I saw Chacha doing binkies, spins, dances!!! It made me laugh. When I turned the light back on, she would eat hay. I turn it off, she would begin to dance again Silly girl.

Wow, I’m having a bad day. The professor emailed be back and said my committee’s recommendation to take the course was ill advised. O_o My husband is really super grumpy today. I don’t know what is wrong or how to fix it. =(

Brit if the washer is jumping either the belt is going bad or the load is unevenly distributed or the drum is overloaded. Be careful because if the belt breaks you have little chance of even getting the thing to drain properly. This keeps happening with our washers because I tend to put way too much in them and of course bunny beds contain a lot of stuff that has no business being in a washing machine. *whistles*

Somehow, I injured my back yesterday to the point I couldn’t stand straight, sit on the couch comfortably, or even lay down on my back. OMG it hurt like hell. Managed to get to sleep last night, today I can walk a bit better and be more upright but still can’t bend down to pet bunnies or fill their water bowls. Yay for hubby person!

Ugh. Hope it fixes itself soon.

Monkey, hope your back gets better fast!!!! Have you tried a few pilates stretches? They really help when I mess mine up (which happens way too often). My favorite one is to lay flat on my back, knees bent, feet on the floor, then slowly raise my hips as if each vertebrae in my spine were a pearl on a pearl necklace and I was trying to pick up the necklace allowing only one pearl to raise at a time. I do that about 10 times and then slowly sit up and stretch.

I have been so insanely busy with class already!!!! Usually, I can kind of coax for three weeks, rush one week… not this semester!!! It is all rush rush rush rush! What is worse is that my brain seems to have completely fallen out! I keep doing things like forgetting what day it is, losing my phone/keys/wallet/gloves, and I can’t think of ONE THING to draw/paint/sculpt. I am like a babbling idiot these days.

4 winters ago in Chicago i was trying to help the garbage man position one of the dumpsters in front of the forklifts on his truck, of course we just had 4″ snow thae night before. as i tried to pull it around to rotate it, my footing slipped instead and i totally wrenched my back. it wasnt a pinched nerve because it wasnt shooting through all my limbs, but i went to a chiropractor every couple days for a few weeks. he’d do this electro-thing on my back for 15 minutes, and then twist me in a pretzel before divebombing onto me. the crunching sound that resonates within you is the scariest part.

oh,, get the homemedics heated shiatsu massager,, use one of those %20 off coupons that bed bath and beyond sends out every month.
push against it hard. its really intense on the nerves as it grinds into your back but it really helped.

after you pull your back once, you will always be prone to a repeat, but you’ll get a warning quivering-tightness sensation when you’re on the threshold of doing it again. I stopped going heavy on squats after mine because i was always reaching that point.

Something strange happened with the bunnies this morning. I was on the couch eating my cornflakes and they both jumped up to beg (they may have learned at one point that cornflakes are delicious … lol) When they got down there were huge wet spots dribbled on the couch. I wiped it up and it seemed like water – didn’t smell and was clear. Wth? Neither of them would let me look at their butts, but all I can guess is that somebody fell into the water dish and then tracked it all over my couch. Haha. I called them up again 10min later and no water works. Strange bunnies.

eta: I told DH this story at lunch and his first response was, “Are you sure you didn’t spill your milk on the couch?” Seriously? He thinks he’s more likely that I spilled my cereal bowl and didn’t notice than that the bunnies peed on the couch. lol

Peppy, I’ve seen things like that first hand. It really is too bad since there are many people who will make great owners, but I understand that weeding the bad ones out is a priority.

My friend was looking to adopt a puppy and needed two references. They tried to call one of the references (my boss) and he wasn’t answering, so this guy asked if I could be the other reference and I said sure. The woman called and kept asking if my friends were going to have a baby soon and if I thought they would give the dog after they had a baby, etc. I was really confused since as far as I knew they didn’t plan to have kids ever, so I wasn’t sure why she pushed this. When I got off the phone I told my friend and he talked to her – apparently his first reference had said that they wanted a puppy to prepare for having a baby. It wasn’t true at all and I think the guy was biased since he had a baby about 2 weeks earlier (babies on the brain!) but it really freaked the rescue lady out and she almost didn’t let them have the puppy. The whole thing was kind of ridiculous and I’m glad my friend could clear it up, but if one thing that one reference says casually can keep you from getting the dog (as opposed to all of the great things that you, the future owner, shares with the rescue) then there’s a problem.

Haha, here’s another “I hate math” vote! I really did try, but I never understood it…luckily, I haven’t had to take a real math class (statistics is different) since high school, heh.  I can definitely appreciate the beauty of math, but I was always just terrible at it…

I have a big exam in 12 hours, and I’m contemplating whether or not to sleep tonight, bleh. For a while in college I habitually pulled all-nighters before every exam and it worked pretty well for me, but I didn’t sleep very well last night either sooo might not work as well this time around. But I tend to be a really nervous test-taker and always freak out and cram until the last moment, so I have a feeling I’m going to awake for quite a bit longer just reviewing things yet one more time…I’ve put in so much work and studying these past two weeks that I’m going to be really upset if I don’t do well .

I actually like math! But no higher than basic calc, thank you. As an engineer I took four semesters of it (all higher than basic calc) and a few of them I barely made it through. Now as an actual engineer the most I ever have to do is add, subtract, multiply, or divide. Haha

Monkeybun, my teacher likes to say that the type of thinking math requires a certain type of thinking (abstract? I think he said?) which is why most people don’t like it. He says “Mathematics is one of the most beautiful things our species has ever done” Haha he’s awesome, he rescues raccoons and will talk about them for an entire class, is literally smiles more than anyone I know, and just won a Yale Distinguished Professor award. He is the reason why I’m not failing

I only hate math because I can never remember “rules” that everyone is just supposed to know. So if I’m taking a class and they give you problems that require outside information (not discussed in class, but something you “should know”), I start to have trouble.

When your math teacher sucks, it can really suck for the rest of the students. When it comes to math, it doesn’t stick with me, so I have to ask a lot of questions. My bestfriend just got her BA in Mathematics.

I just got a letter on the apartment door and it looks like there will be random apartment inspections on February 8th .. looks like Chacha will be penned up for 8 hours and her toys in the closet. The person that leased the apartment to us is now the manager, and she knows that I have a rabbit.

I’m in the middle of rearranging my room. So far, I have A LOT more space. Somebunny is NOT loving it  THUMP, THUMP, THUMPs are all that I am getting! She has since calmed down, and is more curious. I had to change where she uses the litter box in my room and right now, she keeps pooping around the area the box used to be . Back to bedroom litter training haha. I was watching the SNL episode with Daniel Radcliffe on Hulu late last night. Chacha jumped on my bed and sat there for 40 minutes.. just.. watching… with me .. she never EVER stays still!!!

I hate math! haha. I think it’s the way the school system teaches it in the US too.

Like today I was volunteering at a food drive and the guy asked me to calculate how much each person would receive. so if we have 25 boxes of potatoes, and each box is 40 pounds, and we have to pass out 650 servings, how many potatoes would it be.. etc. It’s a Korean church, and he easily figured this out in his head, whereas me and my other colleagues who are all college graduates were scratching our heads like o.O haha. I’ve noticed in other countries, math is taught to be more understandable and useful. my parents always just do it in their head and give me this look like you-can’t-divide-that-why-did-I-send-you-to-college?

if I had spent my 4 years of high school mastering the art of doing calculations that I would use on an every day basis, that would’ve been awesome. Instead of doing calculus and whatnot.

I can add and subtract just fine in my head. I just get mad at customers who expect you to count back their change. You know, by starting with the coins first and counting up to how much they gave me. I can’t do it that way. I can subtract and know how much they get back, but trying to count it back that that is so confusing. o_O

I was pretty mad at an old lady one day. She was so grouchy. I handed her back her change and she said “I like my change counted back to me, not dumped!”. I just looked at her for a second and smiled. Then I said “Well, have a nice day!”. I’m so bad..

And don’t get me started on my hatred for Math! I struggled with it in school. It really sucked because I did well in all my subjects except math. I HATE math! I’m lucky that my bf loves math so he does all of our budget and I never have to do any math at all.

Angie, the way I understand it is that math in other countries is often drilled drilled drilled. I don’t necessarily think the way the US teaches it is better, but it often seems more concept teaching and less drilling. Personally I’m terrible at mental math and I’m an engineer! I use simple math every day but heck if I can do it in my head. I don’t think that’s a matter of not *knowing*, just a matter of not having drilled that kind of thing for years as as kid. Now that calculators are used everywhere I think our mental math skills will be even worse, but I don’t know that that’s terrible.

Otto is such a weirdo – he thinks the vacuum is his new bff. lol Last night I was trying to vacuum the living room and he was following it around nose bumping it, then sitting right in the path I was trying to clean. I’ve never seen an animal so comfortable with the vacuum before.

My dad is genius at math. He can do calculations in his head. He used to do payroll when he was in the Coast Guard. He caught so many mistakes that people made. He went to school in Hawaii, lol.

LBJ, I always count change back.. I do it the easy way. Like if they give me 20 dollars for a 9 dollar item, I just say “Ten, and eleven” and hand back a ten and a one dollar bill. I haven’t gotten a complaint about the way that I give back change.

Yeah, that’s how I give back change if it’s several bills. What this lady wanted was, for example, change for a $7.50 sale and she gave me a $20 bill. So she wanted 50 cents, that makes $8. Then 9, 10 (two $1 bills) and $10 makes $20. I can’t do it that way. I can look at the $7.50 and know they need $12.50 back.

But yeah, she was a grouchy old woman. I was busy too. A long line of customers and I was there by myself. I didn’t have time to deal with her.

Ugh, the CT DMV won’t leave me alone! My car hasn’t been registered there for 5-6 months now, but they keep sending notices. The newest one says that they’re suspending my registration (that shouldn’t exist anymore) because I don’t have insurance. I’ve cancelled my registration numerous times – I just don’t know what they want me to do anymore. I never had this problem when I moved from PA – I’m assuming the CT DMV cancelled my registration in PA for me, while the NY DMV never told CT that I don’t live there anymore?

Has this happened to anyone else? Any suggestions? I sent back the newest notice with the cancel plates box checked (though I’ve done that before and received confirmation, though clearly it didn’t work). I also hand wrote a note saying that I don’t live in CT anymore.

I almost got 100% on the whole assignment! I got a little confused on effect size at the end. It was asking which thing to favor, the one with the low Cohen’s d or high Cohen’s d value. I got confused and said the low one. =(

So I will have to settle for 98%. A big improvement! =D

 

I also made note today of something Wooly does that I think is cute. He has a “special” water bottle that I attach to the side of the cage. He doesn’t like the big water bottle with the stick, so I let him have this little one with the balls inside the spout. I check it periodically because sometimes it disappears fast (Leopold deciding he needs to drink from it too) and sometimes it doesn’t. If it is empty though, Wooly will do something cute. He will wait until he sees me coming. Then he will jump in the cage and lick the ball twice to make the noise. Then he sits there and looks at me expectingly. He will then sit there, not moving an inch, until I come back with a full bottle for him. Silly rabbit, the big water bottle has plenty of water in it.

for 4 months after we moved to AZ, our phone number (a vonage line with chicago area code) was still connected to the front door intercom in our old condo. so realestate agents would call on the intercom saying they had a client wanting to view the condo. and i’d say “sure come on up” and then press 6 on my phone to buzz them in the lobby door.. then they’d come up to the 6th floor and find it locked with no one home. a few times they went back down to the lobby and dialed again,, then i’d be “dude we’re in Arizona”

it took us a lot longer to sell the place, but it was hella more fun…

LOL at Wooly, buns are too dang smart.

I injured my wrist at some point last week and it has kept me from doing a lot of work. Everything I am working on is due this week though, so I stayed home from work (because I am no good to them with a lame wrist) and finished some work. I made three prints for my printmaking class and I am putting the finishing touches on a painting that I had planed to have finished last week.
Huckleberry has been extra cuddly lately 😀 She just runs up, waits for me to get comfy on the couch and then she snuggles her head up under my chin and tooth purrs… until she has had enough and then without warning, she bites the *#&#$&#* out of me. X-o

Huckleberry I know what you mean about sore body parts, I did something to my foot not long after I started my job shelf stacking at a supermarket back in July, I think it’s a combination of concrete floor and having to carry heaps of 30-40lb boxes and it’s ached on and off since, x ray showed nothing so tomorrow I’m seeing a physiotherapist about it, but at the moment my foot’s not feeling too bad but I know it’ll ache on Wednesday when I’ve got to work 8 hours.

Also annoyed that said job has cut my hours back, had 5.5 hours last week and 8 this week… needless to say I’m looking for a new job

After talking to some friends who moved out of CT or sold a car while they still lived in CT, I probably won’t resolve this quickly. They had to prove residency in a new state and jump through all sorts of hoops to get CT to leave them alone. I guess I know what CT spends our tax dollars on! They must have a lot of people processing bogus notices.
