Keep your fingers crossed for little Otto as he’s in for his neuter today. I dropped him off at the vet this morning and he did not look pleased to be there. Can’t say I blame him. Another customer was dropping her dog off and said to Otto, “Aww, are you becoming less of a man today?”

They like to keep rabbits over night for observation, which is a good thing, but I know I’ll miss him and worry about him. I’m more worried about him being scared and nervous at the vet’s office and not eating or something … I’m sure he’ll come out of the surgery fine, but he can be weird about food and I hope being in a new environment doesn’t stop him from eating.

I can’t wait for 10:00 tomorrow when I get to pick him up!

Thanks Beka and Sarita! I can’t believe it’s time either … I’ve had him for over 2 months already! This year is flying by in general I think.

I spoke to my vet this afternoon and she said that Otto came out of the surgery just fine  I have to call tomorrow at 10am to schedule an appointment to pick him up. Not sure why I couldn’t schedule that appointment today, but I wasn’t gonna argue. It’s so lonely here without him!

I am sure Otto will be ok.  He seems to have good care.

                    Thanks bunnytowne!

Just picked Otto up this afternoon and he’s doing great. Actually, he’s way more active tonight than he usually is. It’s like he’s on bunny crack or something, because usually he’s *very* laid back and does very little running around. I’m trying to keep him quiet, but I feel bad because he wants to go crazy.

I gave him his first dose of Metacam and I was a bit nervous because he really hates being restrained; I figure too much struggling would be much worse for his stitches than just running around. We tried to hold him in his cage against one of the walls, and even with a blanket holding him he struggled and ran away before we could get the medicine in. Finally I cornered him in his cage and stuck the syringe at him. I pushed a little medicine out so he could try it before I tried sticking it in his mouth, and he licked it all up! After that I just pushed out little bits while he ate it on his own. Silly bunny. He’s picky about almost every food, but loves medicine.

I’m so happy he’s ok! My vet is expensive ($300 for the neuter) but they’re absolutely the best in the area (4 out of 6 vets in the office are exotic specialists).
