Badger always gets pretty bad dry skin through spring. I was petting him today and noticed a scab on his shoulder in a spot he has been itching often. He is not shedding, but his dry skin makes him itchy causing him to scratch more often. In general, his skin tears very easily (if you make the ‘scratchy scratchy’ motion on him, it can tear his skin or cause flaking, even if done lightly) but its much worse in spring to the point I might separate him from the other two bunnies completely to avoid accidental wounds (right now they only see one another through bars due to spring hormonal craze). Last year spring, I would have shower steam days (I kick the shower on heat and sit in the bathroom with him so he can enjoy the steam) with him that would kind of help, but it was mostly to help his allergies and stop his nose from clogging. Along with his steam showers, does anyone else have any ideas to help keep bunny skin from drying out?
Badger has an array of medical conditions, but his skin, although very thin and often dry, is healthy.
