It’s getting closer and closer…..

My surgery is Dec 3rd.  I just went for my pre-op testing this morning.  I’m glad that the hospital has things down to keep people moving through their tests.  I got there about 10:25 and was done with the ekg, bloodwork, and xrays by 11:30.   I think my heart rate was elevated on the EKG.  Well, yeah…that’s what happens when you’re going for tests for a surgery.  lol 

I don’t like this waiting.  With my spinal fusion on my neck a couple of years ago, it needed to be done like ASAP cause the herniation was so bad.  So I only had like maybe  2 weeks between the time I got told I needed surgery and having surgery.  I was in a daze most of that time with trying to get all my insurance and medical leave stuff taken care of.  I much prefer that. LOL  I know I’m not going to sleep at all the night before. 

Lolli will be by herself that weekend while I’m at my mom’s.  My mom is going to come and take care of her and check on her.  Lolli did absolutely fine the weekend of my grandma’s 80th b-day party and I was gone a lot.  At least 8 hours every day.   Didn’t even seem to phase her.  LOL   I know she likes me here with her, but it doesn’t seem to stress her out when I’m not.  She’s the opposite of how Eddie was.  Of course, Eddie was a big baby.  lol  But I keep worrying about her being by herself.  She is free range right now.  But my mom requested she be put in her pen so that my mom can find her and be able to physical look her over and stuff.   I know Lolli will miss me cause when I’m gone a long time (more than a couple of hours) and come home, she does binkies.  But I have to keep reminding myself that she is Ms. Independent and will be fine!  lol

I’m jealous of you being in and out of the hospital in an hour! Every time I go in for a CAT scan, it takes 3+ hours to get out of there.

Last year, I had to have surgery just a few days after it was determined that I needed it. It was terrible enough waiting half a week for it – I couldn’t imagine waiting weeks or months! I would have had a nervous breakdown (more than I did already)!

I’m sure Lolli will be fine. Just make sure she has some extra toys and hay to keep her busy. Oh, and make sure that your Mom knows EXACTLY how to care for her! I can’t stress that enough. Learned that myself after coming home after a week of being away last year. My bunny was being checked on once every 2 days, and given 4-5 cups of veggies (he was only 5 pounds at the time) and a 2-inch hunk of carrot every other day. Oh, and nobody noticed when his harness fell into his cage (it could have literally hung him very easily). Make sure she knows every detail about feeding, and symptoms of bunny illness (not eating, tilted head, etc.) that she should watch out for.

Oh she will know. I might end up writing out a list. LOL The litter will be changed so all my mom will have to do is feed her and check on her.

I was surprised it didn’t take very long for my tests. But it kind of ticked me off cause I was told not to eat for 4 hours before and then I got there and found out that I didn’t have to fast at all. Grrr lol Oh well.

I had to have knee surgery when I was in high school and my orthopedic surgeon said he had a cancellation the next day and could do it then. I didn’t get much of a say in that one so yep, had surgery the next day. lol I do recommend quick surgeries.

YOu will be fine.    Will hurt like hell in the beginning.  Ooops maybe I should n’t have said that. 

I like fast surgeries too.    The sooner they get done the sooner you can work on getting well.  

I forget which disc are you getting done?

re Lolli: Will you put a sheet top on her pen do you think? You could do a trial with her in a pen between now and the 3rd to see how she fairs. Unless she’s used to one of course.

I was going to start putting her back in the pen at night again next week. She’s been free range for quite a while now and I think she needs to get used to it again – re: get her disapproval over with. LOL She’s not much of a jumper. She really doesn’t like being off the ground. She is just now jumping up on the couch a few times and she doesn’t stay long. So I don’t think she’ll attempt to jump out.

Which reminds me: When she was younger, I had a castle for them in the pen. Well it was too close to the pen wall and guess who almost tried to jump out from the top level of the castle? LOL So as long as she can’t get close to the top, she’s never attempted to escape. hehe

I keep thinking that I should’ve went ahead and adopted a bunny from Chicago. Cause that and bonding would’ve kept me busy. Oh well. I don’t know how much I’ll be able to do after my surgery so I didn’t want to get a new bunny and not be able to bond with him by being on the floor with him.

What I need to do is get my butt in gear and clean the hell out of my apartment so I don’t have to come home to a messy apartment. However, I’m a major procrastinator so it won’t get done until next week. lol

Honestly, bonding can be stressful. Stress you probably didn’t need. Maybe it wasn’t with Eddie and Lolli…

When the time is right they’ll be no hurdles, or they’ll seems easier to jump at least. ; )

I don’t think bonding was as difficult as some of you others have had. Eddie was just used to be the ONE and ONLY and then mom brings a girl home. lol He was a typical stubborn arse of a male. Lolli just wanted to be friends and was always in the submissive pose whenever I had them together. I think what helped the most with bonding them is that I had had surgery on my neck at the time, so I was home all day and we all sat in a pen at least once a day. Then I finally took them and put them in the tub for a bit. A couple of days after that, they humped each other and that was that. LOL

The worst part of it all was the pee and poop. Plus before I got them bonded, I had my friend and her rabbit staying with me for a couple of months. It was a freaking nuclear poop bomb in my apartment all the time. We were always vacuuming. Eddie was making pee and poop rings around Lolli’s pen. Then he’d go over and mess with Lullabelle thru her pen cause they hated each other. My friend decided Eddie should be the one to have the most freedom since it was his home but he got put in the pen a lot. They all had their own pens of course. It was craziness but we all survived. The first time I put Eddie back in the pen so Lulla could have some free time, he sat where I could see him and gave me his butt. Then he looked over his shoulder to make sure I knew that he wasn’t happy about it. LOL

I am hoping bonding will go smoothly with the new male. Unless Lolli has radically changed. lol But she’s very timid and submissive and wanted to be friends with Lullabelle and Eddie right away. So we’ll see.

The neck surgery was a disc removal and fusion so it was quite intensive. But except for my neck hurting and getting tired, I was fully functional. I didn’t do much for the first 3-4 weeks after. But by January, I was feeling good enough to sit in a pen with them. I don’t think the lumbar spine surgery is going to be quite the same. lol So that’s why I waited on getting another bunny. Plus, I wasn’t really ready before. Now when I think about getting another one, I don’t have the heartache over Eddie. I do still mourn Eddie. I think I always will and he will always be a part of my life – if that makes sense. I’m just not going to talk about him or anything just because he’s passed on. I’m the same way with my cat and dog who have both passed on as well.

But I seriously can’t wait. lol

I just realized that I should learn how to knit. To keep myself busy. I’ve also been reading a lot too. Just a thought that occurred to me. lol

IF you are having a fusion you won’t be able to get on the floor much less squat for a while.  

I was in the hospital with my last fusion and some lady was in there had gotten a hip replacement.   She didn’t take pain meds.  Gosh what a high level of tolerance for pain.   Me I am a wus.

I had the fusion in my neck. I’m just having a decompression in two vertebrae in my lunbar region. But I still don’t think I’ll be able to get on the floor any time soon! lol
