Hello everyone! Does anyone remember me??? It’s been forever since I checked in here and much has changed at my house. :0)
Tank and Ranger are doing well. They’re full grown boys and they turned out to be pretty calm, laid back guys. Ranger will let me hold him if it nets him some papaya but Tank is still way too manly to sit still for lap time. He’s a brat.
Digger turned into a huge butthole bunny. He was always tearing up his cage, pooping everywhere, being cage aggressive…no amount of out of cage time or extra attention would knock him out of his funk. I talked to Mary Ellen and Julie at Bunny Lu (where I volunteer) and they both said he probably wanted a friend. It just so happened that one my former fosters, Marshmallow, was in a similar predicament. She was very anxious at the shelter, food aggressive, and if you didn’t approach her just right she would lash out if you entered her cage. We decided to introduce Digger to Marshmallow. I thought for sure they would fight but shock of shocks…they got along extremely well. Digger was even grooming Marshmallow after about an hour in a pen together. We still have some humping issues so I’m keeping them separate when I’m not in the room with them but they’re doing really well so far. Marshmallow is a lap bunny right now. I hope she stays that way. Her face is way more relaxed already after just two days. I’m glad to have her back. When she first came to me I couldn’t believe how beautiful she was and I hated to hand her over to the rescue but I didn’t have a choice. I’m glad to know that her place in our house was meant to be.
I’m sad to report that I had the Petco Box Bunny put to sleep a couple months ago. If you remember…she had an old break in her leg that made it stick straight out to the side. She started crying a lot and when I investigated I found that her bone had broken through her skin and was starting to heal with the bone exposed. It wasn’t another injury, it was just from normal moving around. I looked into having her leg amputated but the cost was just not something I could cover. It used to be that no amount of money was too much to save my animals but unfortunately with the way people are losing their jobs around here I just couldn’t justify depleting what little cushion I have. I’ve pretty much got one mortgage payment stashed away for an emergency. If it would have been a $500 or even $1000 surgery I most likely would have done it but it was almost tripple that. So I held her in my arms and whispered in her ear while she crossed the bridge. I feel really guilty about it, probably because when circumstances were better I would have done whatever it took to save her. ![]()
Of course I don’t have any recent pictures of everyone, I’ve been so busy with work and volunteering at Bunny Lu. Marshmallow’s profile has already been removed from Petfinder so I can’t even cheat and let you see her. I’ll try to take pictures in the next day or two.
I’m now working on seeing what all of you have been up to!
EDIT~PICTURES!!!
First: The bunny boys. Not babies any more.

Digger and Marshmallow!

Marshmallow~I was trying to get a shot of her faint markings but I can’t get them to show up.

Periscope!

And the new cage I rebuilt last weekend.

TARM! *squees and hugs* So good to see you! ^_^
Aw, I am so sad about the box bunny. I remember that story. How awful that her leg just didn’t want to heal properly, but be assured, she is at peace now and binkying with all good limbs at the Bridge. You did right for both her and yourself. *nods*
So good to hear that Digger has found a friend! ^_^ And yes, pix of ALL bunnies please, when you have the time!
A Blessed Easter to you, your family and your furbabies!
Hi! Hugs back at you and your bunnies!
Thanks so much for validation about Thumper. I know in my head I did the right thing but my heart somewhat disagrees. :0(
Hi, TARM! Of course I remember you! (I disappear when I get busy, too…no worries!)
So glad those little bunny-boys are doing well! Poor Thumper…you gave her a home in the end, which is no small thing. I’m so sorry for your loss.
Head scritches to your whole bunny-brood!
Yay! I saw your name in the lounge & was so happy. Great to see you back on the boards. Thanks so much for the update. Those 2 baby boys have really grown up huh? Picture will be required! And of Digger and Marshmellow too. Was Digger the one you originally called Rex? (I have a weird memory that stores random facts btw)
Only way I see situation with Thumper is you gave that girl a 2nd chance, taking her out of the situation she was in. You always had her needs at heart. Though it must have been so difficult to help her go – it was the most humane.
Binky Free & Binky Lots Thumper!
TARM, so nice to see you here again!
Hey stranger
!! I disappeared for a couple months too! The VA people are back, lol!! Anyways glad they’re doing good and sorry about petco bunny
!
Welcome back! I agree with the others… pics are REQUIRED! Even blurry pics are more than welcome!
It’s great to hear that Tank and Ranger are doing well! When I first started to read the part about Digger, I thought, “Uh-Oh! She’s using past tense, did she have to rehome him?” I’m very happy to see you’ve kept him and are getting him a friend! Bunnies certainly have their own personalities and their own ways of being (kinda like us humans!)
I am very sorry you had to make the tough decision about Thumper. Try not to feel guilty about it. You have to weigh all the options and I agree, it’s hard for everyone right now. You gave her a lovely home, she was well-cared for, and you allowed her to pass on humanely, rather than being dumped somewhere or made to suffer it out.
((((((((Binky Free Thumper!))))))))
Welcome back! You did the best you could for the petco bunny and know he is free from pain.
AWWWW I love Tank & Ranger! TOO CUTE! (And I’m still not a huge fan of lionheads–your two are the exception! They’re fabulous!)
Thanks for posting piccies!
OMGSH So cute!! T and R def. aren’t babies anymore!! What handomse bunnymen, lol!!
I don’t really like lionheads either…lol! I didn’t know that’s what they were until after I brought them home. I’m glad they’re mixes.
The rescue has a couple of super fuzzy lionheads that are what I guess is more traditional (if a lionhead can be traditional?). I don’t want to say they’re pure bred because we don’t know…but they are the funniest looking little things. Ack, and messy. Do you SEE what the litter habits are? Ack!

I’m still getting used to seeing a loppy eared bunny in my house. I’ve always preferred uppy ears but since I’ve been working with lops so much lately they’ve started growing on me.
I really, really want a big bunny. There was a Flemmy that I wanted in the worst way but I have too many animals. :0( I have to wait until my ferrets aren’t with me any more. I won’t be getting any more of those, I’ve had it with the poop! (It’s not easy to clean like bunny poops…lol)
Oooo…Flemmies! *sigh* If I ever get another bunny, I wonder if I could convince the hubby to take in a Flemish? (Often they are up for auction at our vile state fair in the summer-ugh!)
Those are some lovely pix! OMG, the boys have grown so! They are gorgeous!
Hey…*Pip pokes TARM* lionheads aren’t THAT bad…are we? 0_o
Oh wow last time I saw them they were TINY. OMG they haf grown. it iz nice to c them and you ![]()
Thanks guys!
Willow! Your bunny is so awesome with her agility!
Mimz~My family came over one day, they had never seen the bunnies (I don’t have many guests because i have a crazy dog who isn’t guest friendly) and my mom said “Oh! Look at them! Why are they funny looking like that?” I’m sure she meant it in the nicest way possible…lol
Welcome back!!! The boys look so handsome now and grown up!!! That’s sad about your other bunny with the leg
But she’s at the bridge and is whole now. Your newest are too cute too!
omg! Tank & Ranger! Look at their manes! They look awesome. Did they ever fight?
Digger and Marshmallow compliment each other very nicely too
Hey! Did you edit your own thread title? Can we do that now?! lol
Edit: I went to send you an email but the address are still not up with the profiles yet. Just wanted to let you know that I put your name forward to a member who posted in the Rescue Forum a few months ago. I really hope that was okay. You were only person I could think of in VA that was affiliated with Rabbit Rescues. Here’s the thread link: https://www.binkybunny.com/FORUM/tabid/54/a…fault.aspx
Oh no! Yes, of course it’s OK to give my name out for something like that. I just replied to that thread. Has she been active lately?
No, but the thread was activated again recently so it brought it to my attention again.
They are so cute!!!!!!!!! I love the the boys, their hair is so gorgeous! They remind me of rock stars from the 80s with the long-flowing manes! I’m also not a huge fan of lionheads and lops (but I love you Maxie!), I prefer the “standard” uppy-eared buns. All buns are cute tho! That’s just my personal preference. Marshmallow is very sweet, I love the all-white buns! She is striking next to Digger!
Thank you! Marshmallow actually has some very faint gray markings. I can’t get them to show up in pictures though. :0(
And great news! My other foster, Frankie with the pink eyes, has been adopted! He spent months at the rescue and people always said how cute he was and he’s a snuggler but he always got over looked. I couldn’t keep him because of cage space (which killed me) but he finally wound up with an awesome family!
Great news about Frankie. Do you keep pictures of your fosters?
a memory refresher…

At 6 wks ^ Today ^
It looks like they visited a Hair Extension salon!
T & R totally look like rock stars now. Or Greek gods, haha.
hehehe
Here’s a couple more of the bunny boys when they were small.
Tank
Ranger
And here’s my Frankie

Arrr they are gorgeous and so pretty xx
Your lionhead boys look VERY well goomed. Such shiney muttonchops.
I can’t take credit for the grooming. I think I have a couple of metrosexual…lol Their manes matt so easily it drives me bonkers. I have to cut something about on almost a weekly basis. But they are handsome little buggers, aren’t they?
