Hey guys! I have a year and a half old male bunny. I just noticed this today and it freaked me out. This happened when he peed. Is it blood? Is there any way to tell if it’s blood? My bunny seems to be normal otherwise – eating, pooping, playing, etc. But this happened twice today. There doesn’t seem to be any stain when this dries up. I noticed a slightly lighter red color a month back as well. His urine is usually light yellow/brown/clear with the occasional calcium traces. Is this a cause for worry?

(knowing add’l details from your post on Rabbits online) You also mention this dried brown. That is an indication that it is likely blood. You also mention that there are no rabbit vets in your area.

If you have a first aid kit or general medical supplies, you can put a few drops of hydrogen peroxide on the stain. If it bubbles, that means it’s blood.

If it is indeed blood, this is a lot and your rabbit does need to be seen by a vet. Is there an exotic veterinarian in your area, even if they are not rabbit experienced? They will be a better bet than a dog/cat vet.
